I do not advocate for neglect on either side.
I'm just talking about priorities.
I sincerely think the flaunting of the rural renaissance by Ugwuanyi is an offshoot of the outcry of poor maintenance of the capital which is glaring.
His ready excuse is "it is time for rural areas".
Yet he hasn't done any better in the rural areas.

Enugu to Portharcourt is not even up to 250km, and the FG has been struggling with it ( yes it is a trunk a dual carriage), where are the phantom 250km rural roads?
Seeing they say is believing, this is a fraction of the 250km rural roads

Rural revolution
Please let us keep sycophancy at bay.
It is degrading to human character.
If we ever wish to progress as a people we must learn to be objective.
"Tiny Enugu city" accounts for 1 out of 4 of the state's population and perhaps over 80% of the state's tax income revenue, so it should always have priority.
That is the reality of the state.
The reason why Enugu city alone account for 80% of our IGR is because successive administrations abandoned the rural areas and focused on the city center.

We must invest aggressively in the rural areas so that light industries can spring up in these places thereby creating jobs and increasing the state revenue.

With over 250km of rural roads currently ongoing in various parts of the state, ugwuanyi is poised to give the rural dwellers a sense of belonging.

Rubbish,so projects failing immediately after construction and others failing while still under construction should now be overlooked because the rest didn't fail as well? Let them all collapse now undecided
Has this stuff happened in Enugu before?
Is there any serious state in Nigeria where this stuff is happening.
You might not notice but this village bush man has succeeded in taking Enugu 20 years back.
Now Enugu is one of those backward, unserious states where contracts are awarded to shoddy local contractors, in order to spend as little money as possible,so the governor and his croonies will have enough to pocket.
Ugwuanyi's projects are always substandard shoddy and lacking quality.
If you criticize him for using shoddy contractors, he'll claim to be supporting local contractors.
You're supporting them by letting them build death traps in the name of public infrastructure.
When that Bushman is through with Enugu, you his defenders will realize the quantity of disservice you had done your state,by defending that failure.
Lol, the "Bushman' is spearheading a rural revolution in Enugu state and we are happy with that.

The culture of concentrating 80% of government spending on a tiny Enugu city has ended for good.

I love the greenery and calmness of the rural areas shown in those pics!

That Adada dam, is it a federal or state project? I do know the federal gov’t, over the past 3 to 4 decades, has cumulatively spent billions of dollars on dams in the north! Why can’t they finish this one in Enugu state....and if the project is the responsibility of the state gov’t, why is this so when dams in the north were initiated, built and managed by the federal gov’t?

It’s game-changers like this that Ugwuanyi should have ensured are completed, not minding whether it’s owned by the state or federal gov’t!
It was awarded by the Federal government. The design was that the federal government will build the dam, treatment plant and Irrigation facilities for Ada Rice Dry season farming, while the state government will lay the water distribution pipes from the dam to Nsukka town

His predecessor uplifted the city and did 1000x more in the rural areas.
He has no excuse, he simply has performed very poorly.
This thread is a clear testimony.
Just take a look at the disastrous quality of the meagre projects he initiated.
No need putting a lipstick on anything.
The question is if he can redeem his image with the time he has left.
Can you please list the projects his predecessors did in the rural areas and let's compare them with Ugwuanyi 5 years.

ABANDONED OGURUGU AIRPORT AND SEA-JETTY (SEA PORT):
TALES OF THE ABANDONED TREASURES & GLORY OF UZO UWANI LGA

Ogurugu, a coastal town which, if it had been handled differently by the succeeding governments, should today be at similar level of development and city awareness with Onitsha Anambra State because of its (Ogurugu) historical connection with the early European (whitemen) traders, the UAC, JOHN HOLT etc who traded in local produce like Palm Oil, Palm kernel, timber logging, fishes etc. All these goods/wares were either produced or brought to OGURUGU port from all over Igbo Nsukka from where they were shipped to Onitsha, Lokoja and outside world.
Today the OGURUGU town is a ghost of it's itself, artifacts of European presence littered the town.
THE OGURUGU AIRPORT
Airport in OGURUGU Uzouwani may sound like story from the space or a fairytale but it's empirically true and real.
It was an Airport said to be awarded by the Military regime of Gen Olusegun Obasanjo. At the airport, we found solid structures in a vast expanse of land. We found the runway, the tarmac, the control stations and other things that make up an Airport or Airstrip with a glaring evidence, that the facility has suffered total abandonment, deterioration and looting.
The most surprising finding we made at the Airport was the conversion of the Aerodrome facility to personal use by the former Minister of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Charles UGWU. It was revealed that he was using it for milling and re-bagging of rice, using his Company name, Tara Agro Company Ltd.
In our chat with a community leader named ONWUEME MOSES who happens to be the son of the Eze Ala that donated the land to the Federal Government for the construction of the Airport between 1977 and 1978, we were made to understand that a man named CLEMENT CHINEDU from Imo state claimed that he bought the facility from the Federal Government and sold it to the Fmr. Minister, MR. CHARLES UGWU, the Director of TARA AGRO COMPANY LTD.
We also got privy information that the Fmr Minister doesn't want people to know about the existence of such a facility.
In our interview with one of the Supervisors that worked at the Airport in the 70s, he noted that work stopped at the Airport at the inception of a new government in 1979 and the then civilian government shifted focus away from OGURUGU Airport.

THE OGURUGU SEA-JETTY
Another big modern facility in OGURUGU town that has been abandoned is the Ogurugu inland Sea Port from where Colonialists entered Northern Igbo Land and where the entire Igbo nation in this side of the world traded their goods and transported their agricultural products to the outside world especially, through Onitsha.
We were also shown debris of what is left of the Commercial Bank used by Colonialists and Igbo Traders at the Port for transactions in Ogurugu.
From the facts we gathered, the proper reconstruction of the Sea Jetty and the proper dredging of the Omambala/Mabolo River
was attracted by our Govnor, Rt Hon Ifeanyi UGWUANYI when he was the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Marine and Ports Authority. UGWUANYI ensured that the development of the sea jetty commenced in earnest with some construction on the ground, however, the locals we chatted with, stated that work is no longer going on at the Sea Jetty and that they do not know why such life-saving and sustaining facility should be abandoned

IGGAH OIL FIELDS

He should just leverage on what Sullivan has achieved by maintaining the already constructed infrastructure, rather than leaving them to decay. Those are places where majority of the populace reside. The People will be pleased
While at it , he can then continue with his rural projects.

It breaks my heart how every Tom, Dick and Harry insult the Governor over simple tasks that would have given him a good name in the eyes of the people.
The level of sabotage by the same people he pays for publicity will make you understand how selfish people have become.
What percentage of Enugu population reside in Enugu City?

Yes, he should maintain existing infrastructure in Enugu City but then developing the rural areas is very important
