NCNC was never a tribal party for Igbos...it was a nationalist party though with massive igbo support and patronage

It was the event of the west that led to what happened in the east.

That statement was made based on the OP post of a particular event without going through the exact scenario that led to that event.

Azikiwe never woke up and forced Eyo Ita ( very bad action in my opinion) out of office.

It was the event of the west that gave rise to his action thus justifying that every action and decision you take, has consequences both in the short and long term

Like I said Azikiwe's overzealousness was not good at the time, but bringing in tribalism was disastrous.

There are alot of ways to campaign and defeat a political opponent without destroying the system.

What game did Awolowo play?

Zik won his seat from Lagos, Awolowo won his seat from the Western region.

Action group already had majority seats without the few independents who were free to decide which party to caucus with, and some chose AG while some chose NCNC.

It is on record that only 2 NCNC parliamentarians crossed carpet, an insignificant number to AG's already overwhelming majority.

Till today, the NCNC politicians like Azikiwe crying foul over their failure to outdo AG, cannot tell us the names of their "many" party members that cross carpeted to AG.

The colonial government conducted the elections, and did not find any fault with the victory of AG, and the NCNC never successfully contested the legality of the victory of Action Group.

So why all the unnecessary wailing?

You can't just pick the story of Eyo Ita without following the story of Zik's escapade in the west

I as an igboman do not support or applaud Zik's action, because it shows desperation and greed.

However I call it the chain reaction of Awolowo's politics.

Its just like militancy in the Niger-Delta with the agitation/ death of Ken Sarowiwa.

Did Awo not fight for seccesion clause to be included in our constitution?.
Having done everything possible to sabotage the seccesion clause, Zik later wanted to become the premier of South West.
Zik had an agenda to subjugate the SW to another round of indirect colonization.
Awo making sure this never happen, was the best decision of Awo's life.

The problem with Kanu's method is that;

1) There is no recognized part of Nigieria called Biafra.
Scotland is a constituent of Britain with well defined borders, elected representative and administration but Biafa is nothing similar to this.

2) The Scottish nationalist parties and the Scotland parliament legally made the demand for referendum NOT just a random guy from Scotland like Nnamdi Kanu is just a random guy from Abia State.

Hausa/Fulani is virtually around the region but have their majority in the core north( NW state to be precise.
