Romanoff:
Hmmm.

Even if the man is woke, if his extended family isn't woke, I pray you have where to get male child guaranteed.

Cause in many cases I've seen, a wife who doesn't have a male child for her igbo husband is sitting on a one legged chair in that marriage.

It's even worse if the wife isn't a fellow Igbo woman. Igbo women can't inherit their father's property culturally and even when it comes to their husband's property, they are thrown out if they don't have a son.

In all these what do the women in the other family think? The wife of the 'wicked' uncle that is going to takeover their late brothers property, the daughter of the wicked uncles...do they support it, they look away or they just don't have a say in the matter concerning another igbo woman like them?

I'm a student. But not in Ohio. But this thread isn't generating the needed traction. I think if the mods Justwise and DisGuy give their support, it'll help.

Hi Rdfactor, what sort of support do you reckon? Would you like the thread stuck to the top of the travel section?

You might want to invite other known US residents in other threads to come in here

Like seriously
I thought we have doctors on nland? grin
We do but it's seems there's a lot of trauma they're dealing with themselves going by this supposedly simply question.

I see a lot were describing how difficult it is to study medicine, some thought people were envious of them and some even question the motivation behind the questions.

Funny how Emeka in abakaliki can open the Internet and get information about pay in Los Angeles but Fred from New York would sweat before getting answer to a simple question like this about Nigeria on the most popular forum in Nigeria

See how hard it is to get information in Nigeria.

Depends on experience and the facility at which they work.

Housemanship - 180K (150-220K, depending on facility). Heard Hazard Allowance has been increased, so if implemented, that should increase these figures.

NYSC - 33K plus salary from the facility to which they are posted. Federal facilities pay about 60-70K, while state facilities range from 10K to 90K (average should be about 40K). Those posted to less busy facilities in capital cities may also be able to get extra income by taking locum private practice jobs.

Fresh doctor in a private hospital (GP) - 200K (Few facilities pay less, minimum 180K, while some pay more, 220-300K).
This pay increases with experience (with 2 years experience getting about 250K) but peaks at about 350/400K. At this stage, most doctors will have started their own private practices or moved on to residency.

Some GPs start their own private hospitals.
Small "blue curtain" clinics in small towns outside major cities like Lagos, Abuja with auxiliary "nurses" where the owner GP is the only doctor there, would earn the doctor about 400K monthly.
Bigger practices would earn more.

For residency, junior registrars earn 270-300K, while senior registrars take home 380-420K.

Consultants at federal hospitals start at 700K. Those at state hospitals and those employed as honorary consultants by universities may earn slightly less.

Consultants employed at private hospitals usually earn more. Here, the pay also depends on the speciality. A neurosurgeon will earn more than a family physician. Low end specialities can earn about 700-800K, while high end specialities like neurosurgery can earn up to 2M.

Consultants at government hospitals usually supplement their income with locum private practice where they take on part time jobs at private facilities (on paper, the government job is full time, but in reality, it's more of a part time job (Nigerian civil servant attitude) so they tend to have ample time for private practice even while practising at government hospitals). Extra earnings here also depend on specialty. Surgeons tend to earn more than physicians, since they can charge per procedure. These extra earnings can range from 300K-2M monthly.

Consultant owned private practices earn depending on the specialty. Orthopaedic surgeons and neurosurgeons would very very easily net well over 2M monthly, out-earning a rheumatology focused practice for example. These figures are for single specialty private practices which are quite rare. In reality, most practices offer several other specialities in addition to that of the owner, by hiring other specialists on locum basis when the need arises.

Thank you so much for taking time to actually answer the question asked and contributing to the discussion.

One person went on and on and on abusing everyone before attempting to namedrop some big specialist hospital as if they're the average hospital in the 36states on Nigeria!

My partner and i have been traditionally married for 10 years without proper documentation or marriage license. We have 3 children together but apart from their birth certificates and our bank statement as proof of our relationship, there is nothing else.

He has been offered a full sponsored tier 2 visa to the U.K and we have been asked to submit 6 documents each as proof of residence and all I have to proof my residence with him in the same house is only my driver's license. I am a stay at home mom. what do we do?

thank you

Can anyone help with the above please?

I paid for the passport to be posted to my address .
Can I show up at the home office for collection? I read on their website that entry to the office is only by appointment.

Probably the only option at this rate, give it up to a month then attend with your receipt etc

Desperate ways of trying to bring down the competition.

Trash and rubbish

This guy like other youtubbers goes to different countries to review planes and airlines, doesn't have anything to gain from bringing down any competitors....Nigerian business just need to get used to being reviewed by independent customers and IMPROVE instead of shouting like victims!

I visit every year.

I am looking to rent a place on my own. I am looking to save on rent particularly(I currently pay £1,300 monthly for a one bed), there are many other bills too.

Also, I can make practically the same amount of money I currently make here in Nigeria(working remotely)

Then go for it, test drive for maybe 3/6months. There might be some initial cost- broadband, Generator/Solar

Just remember those 2-3weeks visit don't touch the sides

Abuja is particularly less stressful than Lagos for example and with family member around its always a bonus

Did you move back or consider moving back to Nigeria? I would like to hear your reason.

I have been living here(London, UK) for 3yrs now and despite the fact that I have a good job and living relatively well, I still have a consistent feeling about moving back home. Everything and everyone that I know is back home. Also, I do honestly feel like I will live better in Abuja(pay less bills lipsrsealed). But I am scared I might regret my decision down the line.

I know for sure I cannot be the first to have such thoughts or doubts so I wanted to post here to hear from people. Please comment if you have some experience.

mod please help get this to the front page if you can. Thanks.

Have you visited in the last 3 years? Maybe you should take your next leave in Nigeria- 2-3 weeks should do

Are you looking to move into a family house? what sort of bills relative to your income would you be saving?

Stenon Fatima04 Eriko2k2 Dupyshoo Dustydee CodingSoft umarwy DisGuy

best bet is to book tickets directly from the airline, the other apps/websites will strip all the essentials out- might be 1 luggage or crazy stop over.
Book well in advance- prices are generally high now- covid recovery, russia-ukr, inflation

Do you have an idea @ Folake4u or anyone

Yes the old narrow gauge built by the British, very unreliable, extremely slow and likely to break down in the middle of nowhere. wont advice anyone

Hope you enjoyed the train ride from Abuja to Kaduna? smiley

There's no online booking for other NRC routes, you'd have to go there early and book ahead and it's quite draining.

Yes enjoyable, but very slow. Not sure why still pegged to 45mph on average after several years of operation- same as the Lagos-Ibadan

Looking forward to Lag-Ibadan later this month. There are now three trips on Fridays from Lagos
