Trash and rubbish This guy like other youtubbers goes to different countries to review planes and airlines, doesn't have anything to gain from bringing down any competitors....Nigerian business just need to get used to being reviewed by independent customers and IMPROVE instead of shouting like victims! flokidfanatic: I visit every year.
I am looking to rent a place on my own. I am looking to save on rent particularly(I currently pay £1,300 monthly for a one bed), there are many other bills too.
Also, I can make practically the same amount of money I currently make here in Nigeria(working remotely) Then go for it, test drive for maybe 3/6months. There might be some initial cost- broadband, Generator/Solar Just remember those 2-3weeks visit don't touch the sides Abuja is particularly less stressful than Lagos for example and with family member around its always a bonus |

flokidfanatic: Did you move back or consider moving back to Nigeria? I would like to hear your reason.
I have been living here(London, UK) for 3yrs now and despite the fact that I have a good job and living relatively well, I still have a consistent feeling about moving back home. Everything and everyone that I know is back home. Also, I do honestly feel like I will live better in Abuja(pay less bills ). But I am scared I might regret my decision down the line.
I know for sure I cannot be the first to have such thoughts or doubts so I wanted to post here to hear from people. Please comment if you have some experience.
mod please help get this to the front page if you can. Thanks. Have you visited in the last 3 years? Maybe you should take your next leave in Nigeria- 2-3 weeks should do Are you looking to move into a family house? what sort of bills relative to your income would you be saving? |

Do you have an idea @ Folake4u or anyone Yes the old narrow gauge built by the British, very unreliable, extremely slow and likely to break down in the middle of nowhere. wont advice anyone |

folake4u: Hope you enjoyed the train ride from Abuja to Kaduna?
There's no online booking for other NRC routes, you'd have to go there early and book ahead and it's quite draining. Yes enjoyable, but very slow. Not sure why still pegged to 45mph on average after several years of operation- same as the Lagos-Ibadan Looking forward to Lag-Ibadan later this month. There are now three trips on Fridays from Lagos |

The interior looks better with its original seat fabric. That green and red cover they use is a bit tacky
got the Abuja-Kaduna return trip just before the pandemic. Many Ogas were onboard with their PAs and security attachee
Glad they've introduced the online booking for Abuja, a bit weird they contract didn't just cover the whole NRC routes. |

santos247: Thanks so much sir. Can one access credit services on this Monzo account? I am looking towards building credit history? Not at the moment, but if you need an account with 3days of landing thats you best bet. You're not limited to only one bank or account. Once you secure accommodation you can open an account with the traditional banks They won't offer you credit immediately either but are more likely to offer you as a customer reasonable rates when they do. Building credit is multifaceted but all credit providers have access to your profile in all regulated banks |

santos247: Hello guys, Please I am moving to the UK in few weeks/months. I have loads of questions on my head. 1. My wife will come along on spousal visa. Does she have to write IELTS before or after moving to work? She is considering the health care assistant jobs. Are there cheap schools she can attent to hone her skills along the job. We are settling in Nottingham from MAy. 2. HOw easy is it to open a bank account. Any advice? I need a valid bank account as early as 2/3 days after arrival. 3. How do i go about getting the kids settled in school. Are there government websites where one can apply? I am cosidering either to come in first and beging sorting the school and they join few weeks/months after. 4. Accomodation.....Can one search through internet and get a good place or its better to check into BnB first and complement the search with the physical inspection? 5. Anybody in the house who resides in Nottingham. University of Nottingham is my destination. 1. IELT i believe is mainly for student visa, check the requirement for spousal visa on their website, if its needed you will need it before moving 2.Easy as it gets, once you get an official letter from work or school. Many banks will open one for you. If you need one 2/3 days then open monzo, Revolut download the app and send the necessary I.D via the app 3. Apply as early as possible. Search for your county/city website, search for education section and put in an application 4. Yes, Yes and Yes...you can get a good place but you will need physical inspection and meet some conditions before getting any. Accommodation is proving to be very difficult recently for many new migrants. Not a bad idea to get in, get accommodation then they join you after, dragging kids up and down airbnb, hotel shortlets can be difficult |

Seems you have to deal with it like that. The general advice is to take £ to UK A good conversion rate in the UK will be the banks offering more value for your Pounds rather than getting it cheaper Oanda is also aggregating rate supplied by the market not necessarily the official rate. You can try post office or revolut if you have the cash at hand Emmyk: Hello everyone. I'd like to know if there is any bank here in the UK that I can get a good conversion rate similar to what is on oanda.com.
I have a GTBank Dollar card linked to my GTBank USD domiciliary account and I have been using it to withdraw since we got here and it appears no ATM is giving the rate oanda.com has on their website.
For instance, if I withdraw 100 pounds, I get charged about $158 (inclusive of charges), meaning 1 pound is around 1.55 dollars. On oanda.com, 1 pound is around 1.35 dollars. Abi there is now official rate and bank rate in the UK ni?
Kindly advice. |

Anitaamich: Hello everyone, it’s been a while here, hope everyone is doing alright??
I will be done with my nursing program this year and I’m ready to start applying for jobs. I need assistance on what areas in England are good in terms of decent cost of living. I currently reside 30mins from central London and the rent is crazy this side. Please what areas are affordable to live in and with good pay rates for nurses?? I’m thinking towards Birmingham, Wolverhampton, the midlands generally while being open to other options as well.
Don’t read and pass please! You too can contribute once in a while madam nurse, stop doing hit and run since 2020 The Midlands and up north is generally cheaper if you choose right but then again if you're used to London/South East you might not find those places very easy initially. If you know people there even better |
