Banky's verses were very braggadocios But no Nigerian rapper has ever been able to surpass the finesse - smooth flow, suavity, poshness that Banky exhibited in that song.

But you're not wrong. Banky W was Drake's prototype – he sings and raps, and was doing so even in 2006.

Go check his catalogue on YouTube and when he first came on HipTV in 2007. Amongst other songs, his claim to fame was "Ebute Metta" where he did his own singing and rapping.

But Naeto C was the blueprint. As at 2007/2008 when all our favourite rappers were rapping about "taking your girl and running your hood" with trousers with enough material for Ayra Starr's entire wardrobe, Naeto C came on the scene decked in a 3-piece suit and a Cuban cigar leaning on the wall asking "Ki ni Big Deal?" .

Nigeria had never seen anything like that. Revolutionary.

All what most young Nigerians know is 'cruise', with less than the attention span of a cuttlefish.

Nigerians abhor self-driven intellectual pursuits beyond the show-off titles they can't defend.

That's why we have many dûmb Ph.D holders who seek the title without the intellectual acuity to back the title up.
