The most noticeable improvements came during the Fashola years, but I want to caveat that by saying...the most noticeable improvements came on the Island, at a time when mainland population was exploding.

Fashola was very good. Any governor who could clean up Oshodi and Mushin deserves a third term (to think BAT was against BRF's second term). He didn't only clean it up but modernised it. After he left, everything went back to default.

At this point I was already in the UK, so can't speak with too much authority, but every time i came back the mainland seemed worse, but the Island seemed better and better.

It's only in the Sanwo-Olu era I began to see improvements in Abule-Egba area with how they cleared up Pen-Cinems and I don't know who built the over head bridge at Oko-Oba Market

Iju Road is now OK-ish, but Fagba around the railway crossing is still a horrific mess.

Succesive APC Governments have quadrupled down on the divide between Island and Mainland with their blatant elitist gentrification policies.

Mark my words, they are going to declare Lagoon/Lekki state in the not too distant future.

Those days If you followed the road north from the old toll gate to Sango, you would only be drive about 5 minutes before realising you'd run out of road as the Market was literally on the express, where the overhead bridge is now.

Even if you turned heading to OJu-Ore or the other way to Ijoko, it wasn't exactly good too.

If you headed south on that road, Kola was always a problem with huge potholes, abule-egba choke die around katangwa, the market was on the express at ile-epo, iyana-ipaja, and Egbeda..by the time you got to Cement you would dodging HUGE craters in the road...Ikeja along Traffic was insane, due to traffic backing up from PWD, and then the road practically ended at Bolade because that was where Oshodi market started from. Even Kola when you veer off Lagos -Abeokuta road had no good roads. Roads were always flooded even though I admit the topography was a challenge.

The inner city roads weren't good too. Did Tinubu do what he could do? Maybe. But was he the best as they hype him to be? No!

Let me help you. My parents lived in Lagos years before I was born. My dad's a medical doctor who worked at LUTH.

Later he setup private practise in Idi-Iroko along Canaanland in Ogun State before building his hospital in Lagos. The hospital name is a combination of I and my sister's name. It was at Kozzy Barbers within the Iju-Ishaga - Agege axis.

My dad was family doctor to some influential people, including in Ogun State. Nihilist supposedly lived in Otta so he would know the Umejiegos who were a very rich family.

If you live in Otta or know someone who does, you/they can ask the family of the Akwa Ibom medical doctor who visited during the weekends with his little son. I was that little son. Chief Umejiego is dead now but his family should still be there. He had twin daughters.

I even did Yoruba in my JSCE and aced it. Came from Lagos each morning to school in IGGS which was the best school in Ogun (there were day students from as far away as Maryland, Lagos) before focusing on schooling in Lagos. My school during JSCE wasn't far from my dad's hospital in Lagos.
