I unstand ur ish. UNN also issued certs in my set before we went to camp. U dont hv to worry especially if it is applicable to all the corp members from ur sch. I mean dey can't refuse registering over 50 corpers frm d same sch wit d same problem. just find out wat ur fellow OAU students or graduates are doing.

ya...i also forgot to chip in this.....Posting letter is far more important than Call up letter. It would determine how ur next 10 months would be. Yes u made friends in camp but u would meet more people in ur PPA.
So i know most of u must be feeling disapointed now...mayb u dibt get ikot ekpene or eket or uyo...just chill village nysc is even more fun,u save money,cheap food, free ride,free accomodatn e.t.c and oh....friendly villagers.
Infact i am typing from one of such places and i dont regret not serving in uyo. I go to uyo almost every weekend so....i still hv wateva 'fun' uyo corpers enjoy.

U guys are welcome to AKS. as som1 has already said dont expect much in terns of social activities in camp. This is SAED headquarters so u will hear SAED SAED most times in camp.
As for ur posting leave it in God's hand. Almost all villages in Akwa ibom hv nice abd neat lodges. So u hv nothing to worry abt..

hello house smiley...i have been observing for a long time now.
I remember how we started, how we counted down to August and now we are senior corpers. God has been faithful. Though we have lost a few of us we remain hopeful.
So i want to ask what have u been up to in ur course of nysc.
Has anyone here commenced a personal cds? Have u been able to save?
Did u enroll for any SAED training?
Have u started any business?
Are u earning somthing extra?
Did u enroll for any professional course,

for me...i hv done 2 professional courses so far. i hv learnt bag making from saed. share urs

John Snow, Inc. (JSI) is a public health research and technical assistance firm dedicated to improving the health of individuals and communities throughout the world. It manages the USAID/DELIVER PROJECT and the Supply Chain Management Systems (SCMS) Project in the Nigeria office. JSI is recruitingforthe position of a Project Accountant.

PROJECT ACCOUNTANT

The Project Accountant will works under the guidance of the Associate Director Finance and Administration and overall supervision of the Director of Finance and Administration. Specific responsibilities will include, but not limited to, the following:

1.Manage the JSI field accounts system, review chart of accounts, generate Quickbook reports as needed for project reporting, budgeting and forecasting
2.Regularly update QuickBooks, prepare bank account reconciliation and resolve account variances in compliance with all US Government (USG)and JSI financial management and accounting polices and nregulations
3.Process expense reports, travel advances and retirements; prepare vouchers, review receipts and other supporting documentation to ensure accuracy before forwarding for payment
4.Ensure that aU financial transactions are completed with high degree of accuracy, in full compliance with USG and JSI requirements, and within established timelines
5.Assist the Director of Finance in the analysis, development, and documentation of internal processes and controls and ensure compliance with all USG and JSI financial managernent and accounting policies and regulations
6.Reconcile and track outstanding advances, update inventory logs, monitor project expenses and track expenditures and accruals.
7.Provide support and guidance to program and other administrative staff in accordance with JSI policy and procedures, including travelling to field offices, training sites and otherfieldlocations when required
8.Develop and maintain an effective professional relationship with JSI's local banking institutions
9.Engage in other financial tasks as assigned

MINIMUM SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
Applicants for this position must possess the following minimum skills and qualification:
BSc. degree in accounting or financial management
3-5 years financial management experience
Experience with Quickbooks is strongly preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required
Experience and knowledge of Nigerian tax laws
Financial experiencewithaUSAID-funded project and knowledge of USAID rules and regulations would be an advantage
Excellent verbal and written English
