Nice write up @op. But let me chip in something. Am not saying that its badvto hv such aspirations to add to ur allowee neither am I being pessimistic but the fact is dat it doesn't work every where. Finding a good source of additional ibcome is subject to ur PPA. I am currently servibg and I had those dreams of adding to my allowee but reality hit me. 1. Most businesses hv low and slow turnover within the period of ur service year. 2.If u r serving in a village there are lesser chances of engaging in private lessons. These parents find it difficult to pay normal sch fees hw much more and additional lesson. Some dont even see a need for lesson. 3. If u are going to depend on ur allowee for capital ,its gonna take more than courage cos there are so many things waiting for allowee 4.If u want to enroll for a professional course u need to plan better especially if u would br funding it with ur allowee 5. Time factor. There corpers who teach more than one subject in more than one class wit diff arms making it difficult to hv time for any oda activity 6.Some villages dont hv network, power supply e.t.c so its a constraint. |
Empero1:I get ur point but thank God u said u talking 'as an employer'. We are talking about life partner not business partner.I am not saying that there are no well groomed illiterates out dere. All I am saying is dat in terms of reasoning...dere is a clear cut diff between d two. Lets look beyond English language. For instance, I am an igbo girl and i know fully well wat i wud go thru if i eventually marry one of my ogbuefi brothers dat hv 'shade' in onitsha.no offence oh. Most of d guys dere wud either want a house wife or one who wud handle their branch 'shade'. Now again, dis ogbuefi guy wud not want me to keep associating wit my classmates infact he doesn't hv to put effort to do dat cos living wit him alone will automatically cut me off. I might say 'honey, there is this share i want to buy..i need to find a stock broker bla bla' and he wud start to think otherwise. I said it in my first comment dat a guy asked me this same 'marry illiterate question' i told him i can. den i asked him if this 'illiterate'( who happens to b a sec sch drop out) would allow me if per adventure my classmate bcoms a president and wants me in his cabinet. The guy cud not answer. The problem is d attitude of both the learned and unlearned not the English language. |
Empero1:Literacy doesn't necessarily equate to language spoken. It has more to do with awareness, enlightenment, attitude, self worth.U would agree with me that 90% of Formal education illiterates feel initimidated around literates and it affects their reasoning not neccesarily the language. |
I would say no. Reasons....The level of reasoning might be diff. My Problem is nt neccesarily the fact dat the person is an illiterate. My problem is the person might be ignorant. e.g we hv a quarrel, and am right and i know i am right and i know that the wrong decision would lead to grievieous consequences. This person might not want to agree cos he feels 'eh all these people wey go sch wey tink say dem no everytin' Then again, lets say i hv a social function to attend wit my girls e.g a baby shower. He might start to say 'which one is baby shower again' Most times its not d title but d attitude. A guy once asked me if i wud like to marry a business man dat is a secondary sch drop out. I sed no problem and den i asked him,if years go by in the marriage and suddenly mayb my Classmate becomes the president of Nigeria and asks me to join his cabinet, would he allow me? He kept mute. |
Thanks lizu. is it possible I get the article? thru email mayb ![]() |

hmmm Still waiting for season 3 I love Rosie and her accent, Zoila and her principles and then Carmen...just dat she hasn't been able to achieve anything despite her over ambitiousnesd |
I love Carmen too, her care free atitude but she has not achieved anything even with her over ambitiousnes. I love Rose too.The she drags the last words in her sentence. I love Zoila cos of her principles. Even when she pushes her boundaries e.g kissong dat call guy at d bar and making out wit her new boyfriend (season 2). U cant help but to excuse her. I love Genevive cos she refuse to feel old (seems like most genevieve dont like getting old) Am indifferent abt Valentina ...and oh the Powells, my skin twitches wenever it comes to their scene in season 1 dey were so weird but surprisingly in season 2 they loosened up. My best scene in season 2 was when Mrs. Powell was walking majestically to see the 'bodyguard' her husband hired and she missed her step and fell when she saw he was a sizzling hot guy. I laf each time i recal that scene. |
I have met 1or 2 Nairalanders. I know 3 of my classmates on Nairaland. I have spoken on fone with a handful of others. Pheww! Nairalanders always stand out in crowd in reality. U dont just hv to stress ursef to show u r 1. Its obvious in d way we talk. |

Am so glad at d responses am getting here. Ochiban n jmoore thanks for ur instances. I actually did feel old fashion cos most of my friends are married and it felt like i am not going wit d flow. but wit d good comments here,am geared up |
I have come to realise that men of these days would prefer sex over anyoda thing in a relationship. I have been out of a 'sex-free' relationship for the past 1year. I later met a guy who was so 'spirit filled'. He quotes bible, doesn't joke wit church activities, talks abt morals u know...d 'God fearing type'. I started falling for him cos of these things. I am dis kind of person dat believes in sex after marriage. One day, we were discussing boundaries and he insisted on Sex. I was shocked cos few days ago we talked abt som1 who he was supposed to b best man in wedding. d bride was already pregnant and he (my guy) was venting on hw wrong it was but there he was again....justifying pre marital sex even wit his churchy attitude. I started wondering if one has to change her standards just to get a man in dis present time. A colleague of mine gisted me about how she met her fiance in a party and how she slept in his house for good 1week right after dat party...2yrs down d line dey r engaged. So I want to know...is dis d reigning thing? Are there still men out dere who are willing to FAITHFULLY wait? |
I was here.....just incase it makes front page how I wish i wud find my look-alike. Am tired of seeing strange people tell me 'u look familiar' |
GoTV for sale.....call 09024543725 |
Dr please i have 'temporal crossed eyes (strabismus)' i.e whenever i focus my sight on an object after some secs it crosses until i change my view. This has made me not to b able to maintain gud eye contact wen interacting. Do u think something can b done abt it? |
Kookny:which adress is dat? well in other states ur camp activity might influence ur posting but wit the kind of state cordinator we hv in akwa ibom even if u build house for ur platoon notin for u. unless u were requested for by a company. |
most local govts in akwa ibom has corpers lodge except for the hot cake local govt e.g uyo, eket, ikot ekpene and abak. the rest hv gud FREE accomodation. I am in oruk anam lga n i am sharing a brand new well tiled 3 bedroom flat woth my other two female colleagues. so do the maths. |
AMZYMAYO:to reply u. If u are looking for a state that has industries where u could possibly send c.vs to while at service den go for Ogun. But if u just want to live dat ''NYSC LIFE'' den its akwa ibom. Dere are no manufacturing industries here except d exxon mobil oil company.Den again,in terms of good roads, nite life, SOME infracstrures, Akwa ibom tried. but dont come with hopes high cos u might be posted to a village just like me. |
na wa oh! all dese prices. thank God say my ppa give me nice lodge. 120-150k no dey here oh[img][/img] ![]() |

sampete: Guyz...just got redeployed from Jigawa state to Awka-Ibom...currently in kaduna camp. Is there a direct vehicle from kaduna to Awka-ibom?...if not is there one from Benin to Awka-ibom?... Also where is d state nysc secretariat locatedWow! U are welcome to the uncommon land. If u can get a luxurious bus from kaduna to aba, then u can enter akwa ibom transport company (AKTC) from aba to uyo. It shouldn't cost u more than 500 from aba. I dont really know abt benin but u can also get AKTC from onitsha to uyo. So maybe u could travel from benin to onitsha. The secretariat is at Federal Secretariat, Abak road. Uyo. Hope this wud help. |
