We want to get a feel of our former writers)

Here, all their names will be mentioned. Volunteers will reach out to them.
These legends will write stories for the section throughout the month. I.e, just a short story from each of them. Remember, we are building a community, not a website.

we will be using December for the Nairaland Legend Month...

Please do create a threads that you easily update on the go. If you create it, I'll be able to help you make some creations..
In the thread, the first post should be the names and contact of scams. The second post on that thread will be legitimate people

When people search for the number on Google, it will bring this page.

I was going to created a thread when I saw yours on the first day and have been following it since.
I rarely fall victim for people of such except a recent 1200 words, which I wrote because he claimed I referred Larrysun to him that he had a fallout with Larry. So, I wrote it for him to appease the punishment that coming to him. He asked for my account number.
I don't disturb my clients until I'm in dire need. So, when he didn't send it 7 days after asking for my number, I called him and a lady picked it. A lady! Of all the things in the world, Tommie sounded like a guy's name. So, you can share my surprise when I heard a tiny high pitched voice, telling me how it was the number her ancestors gave her. I told her to tell him that the money is next to nothing. It's the relationship that matters.
I didn't want to drop his name but now I have a lot of friends I refer to other writers, I don't want them to face the same trouble.

So, please create a thread for that. I'll stick to the top..
Preferably, use the business section.

This is the way the competition will go.

Nairaland Edition Sponsors

*To Be A Sponsor, please send an email to Writertain@gmail.com

There is a big benefit attached.

Judges

- Audreytimms
- Royver
- Shewrites

There are 30 contestants.
This competition would follow the format of The Voice competition.

Stage 1. Anecdote (250 words) — Blind Audition

Stage 2. Drabble (100 words)- Battle

Stage 3 Twitterture- (140 characters)- Steals battle

Stage 4. 55 fiction (55 words)- Knockout Stage

Stage 5. Dribble (50 words)-

Stage 6. 25 words- 3 Judges and 1 vote

Stage 7. 6 words-

Votes.

Stage 1. 250 words (Blind Audition Stage)- November 1-7

— The contestants will send their works (A 250-word fiction) to a writertain@gmail.com before November 1 Judges will reveal their choices between November 1-7

— The contestants will be given a number immediately they send in their stories.

— I will post the stories immediately here without the writer's name. Each judge would pick their favourites 6.

— Immediately the judges pick their favourite 6, the contestants will be revealed. Note that the judges can pick the same number (that's the beauty)

— That does not mean all hopes are lost for the remaining contestants.

— There might be a conflict of interest. Then, the contestant selected by more than a judge will pick any judge of his/her choice.

— If there is a case as such, the judge(s) without the complete number of contestant would have to pick other contestant(s) to fill their slot(s).

Stage 2. Drabble (100 words)- Battle stage-

November 8-15

- Contestants will post it themselves

— The judges would have paired contestants into groups before the battle starts and would pick one of each group. This mean, the judges would have 3 contestants left.

— The judges are allowed to steal any two contestants that lose from other judges.

Stage 3 Twitterture- (140 characters)- Steals battle. November 16-20

Twitterture is a 140-character story. It follows the pattern of those that type on twitter. All characters, including space, mean something.

— This stage is meant for only those that were stolen.

— The judges would pick a contestant here.

— This means the judges now have 4 contestants.

Stage 4: 55 fiction (55 words)- Knockout Stage. November 21-27

The stories would be in 55 words.

— Here, the judges would pick just 2 contestants, making us have 6 contestants left in the competition.

However, readers would be involved in this process. They would vote for the contestants. Two Contestants with the highest votes would be able to join the next stage, making us have 8 contestants.

Stage 5. Dribble (50 words)- November 28- December 3

— The judges would pick three contestants.

— Readers' votes would pick three more contestants.

This leaves us with 6 contestants.

Stage 6. 25 words- 3 Judges and 1 vote. December 4- 10

— Judges would pick 3 contestants

— Readers will vote one contestant.

Stage 7. 6 words- Votes only. December 11-17

— This stage is witty but is more of a publicity stunt for the writer.

The person with the highest vote gets to win.

Everyone is allowed to vote twice. Voting can only be done by Liking and Sharing.

In the voting processes, Judges are allowed to call for votes for their contestants.

The top 4 will proceed to compete on a National level with the grand prize.

Thanks

I am a spendthrift and can give out anything without thinking of the future. Most times, my money drain off on irrelevancy. For years, I always made big crazy plans to save to no avail. Though I've saved a little, ever since I registered with Piggybank.ng, I watch with joy as my money piles up. And that's just what I need at this time...

This is a sort of referral link that helps me make bits of naira when you make save. It's not a ponzi scheme that makes you pay others.
Also, only those of us that have there for a while and have saved up to 3K can do what I'm doing.
Nevertheless, you'll get a chance to save without fear.
Enjoy.

Are You In Need of A Platform to Learn How To Write?

I Mean Do You Want A Mentor In Writing Fiction?

Or Do You Need To Be A Published Writer By Fire By Force?

Then, you have come to the right place...

Ehhh! Wait! I'm Not Your Mentor.

Nah!I'm Just A Writer Like You.

Who Am I?

I'm Akintayo Akinjide and I started Writertain with the aim of building myself exclusively.

I remember when I was in need of a mentor, I tried to reach out to some writers, big ones.

I don't know if you have ever had that feeling of waiting for the big email?

You will be detached from conversations.

You will be focused on any vibration of the phone.

You will refresh your phone regularly.

It happened to me too. But Nothing Worked.

I thought they were too busy and I could follow them up online. I wasn't interested in their books.

Don't get me wrong. I love their works of art. I read their books.

But books can never tell you how Chimamanda crawl to bed in the middle of the night after bed

Or how Wole Soyinka leaves his bed at 12 O Clock.

Or How Teju Cole uses his Characters.

So, I began to search for things that will train me. It was a big quest and I did come across things:

- Writerhelpingwriters

- Wikipedia

- Writer's Digest

It was a beautiful experience but something was missing.

There was no feeling. I was still hungry and refreshing those messages to no avail. It was a big problem.

The hunger to hear from Nigerians became a big deal.

So, I opted for Nairaland. It seemed to be interactive.

We created the Writers Workshop. The feeling was there but these guys as much as they could come out just once.

The page cannot be there for life.

So, I needed something stable, where we can read how to treat our characters like babies and settings like an egg. I needed something that is not the generic ones we have been reading.

You know what I mean:

- Those lessons that will say, 20 Things a Writer Need.

I wanted to learn more and that was the reason I seriously craved for Wikipedia, Writers Digest and Writers helping Writers but they did not have Nigerian settings.

So, I opted to start Writertain.

It was meant to build 'us' in 'our' way. It is not to be the generic tools or help. It should be Nigerian writers, but things changed. I noticed there were few literary industries in Africa generally and I knew from the back of my long nose that we need it. But I'm not good at writing.

Then, I stumbled on an Ancient Truth.

It changed everything for me. It became my reason to keep learning.

This truth has to keep pushing me, even when Writertain is Making No Money...

(Well, we will still make it someday) but for now, any money made is to make Writers see a great value in their work.

The ancient truth is that 'You Learn When You Teach people'

If you see me write like this or read anything from me, it was the little I learned from Writertain.

So, if you are like me

If you are tired of learning the generic methods

If you want that African feeling?

If you really want to meet your mentor. Writertain is our solution. Let's drag these big Authors together.

Come, let's build a citadel.
