Music/Radio › Is Rakim The Greatest Rapper Of All Time? by Djicemob(op): 3:13pm On Nov 10, 2014 |
Discography: Paid in Full (as Eric B. & Rakim) (1987), Follow the Leader (as Eric B. & Rakim) (1988), Let the Rhythm Hit ‘Em (as Eric B. & Rakim) (1990), Don’t Sweat the Technique (as Eric B. & Rakim) (1992), The 18th Letter (1997), The Master (1999), The Seventh Seal (2009)
The closest thing hip hop has ever gotten to God is Rakim Allah – the most revolutionary lyricist hip hop has ever witnessed.
On the strength of that famous opening line – “I came in the door, i said it before, I never let the mic magnatize me no more” – Rakim went on to transform simple rhyme patterns into an intricate art form.
Not content to stick to the rigid structure previous rappers like LL, Kool Moe Dee and Melle Mel were using, Rakim approached lyricism with fresh imagination, delivering his rhymes like a jazz musician plays their instrument – effortless, smooth and without boundaries.
And as groundbreaking Paid in Full was, Rakim upped the notch with Follow the Leader, expanding on his multisyllabic rhymes and displaying a variety of stunning verbal acrobatics.
There have been so many articles and reviews written about Rakim and his rhyme skills, anything I say now would simply be superfluous. Bottom line: Rakim is the most influential and one of the greatest rappers of all time, period. |

saintgwizard: Thank you OP. You said my mind. Sometimes, I wonder how we expect change from same persons who ruled us 30 years ago. Does it in anyway mean that we dont have brighter minds to lead us to greatness other than these old cargos?
Most annoying is when I still hear youths chanting praises to the likes GMB, describing him as the messiah Nigeria needs.
Where are the likes of Donald Duke, Pat Utomi and the rest that I would be proud to call my President. Exactly,These are clearly sound minds. We can enjoy change with these men. |

calebo101: That's my biggest worry.
The fact that some peeps reckon we have to bring back a 72 years old ex president so he can magically roll back the 'so called' good old years is alarming.
If the whole of Nigeria and APC as an opposition cannot get a younger vibrant fresh candidate with lesser baggage then they should at best remain the opposition.
After buhari maybe they would bring in Shagari and later Obasanjo cos these guys dem fit rebrand and package even Abacha as a saint. Or Babangida |

In sane countries opposition parties exist to guide the ruling party into action over pressing issues or lead by example by taking action when possible so as to convince the general public they are a better option.
Here in Nigeria with our half-baked knowledge of world policies the opposition party is more of a headache than guide to the ruling party and most times present themselves as a worse option.
Some diamonds still exist among the dirt; Fashola of Lagos State and Oshiomhole of Edo State deserve an honourable mention for the change they've created in their respective states. Oshiomhole for real? You surprise me boss. |

This piece is written strickly for clarification purpose.Sadly, The one who needs clarification is me.Am i missing something here? or Maybe the word change has changed, funny huh? I've been an avid observer of the happenings in the country and the political section of this forum, paying close attention to the debates from the PDP supporters and the APC supporters on how each side tries to outwit, outshine and out-manoeuvre eachother using Facts, lies and propaganda and I can't help but observe, learn and contribute in my own little way. However, in the midst of all these, i sometimes fall in various states of confusion which i'm going highlight as we progress. I don't seem to get the issue of CHANGE the APC and its Supporters and promoters use as their major mantra used to assure people of what they ARE,what they stand for and what we would enjoy as citizens when they get elected into office, which in simple terms means the PDP must be booted out of office for us to achieve this needed change, for they(PDP) have ruled us for donkey years with little or nothing to show for it.Now, my confusion is,what or who has changed to help us achieve this change? Is APC made up of angels that fell from the heavens in shinning armour with a mission to save Nigeria? What and WHO make up this heavenly party for change? I'd often ask myself, "Who is APC?" WHO because fancy abbreviations and mantras cannot bring about the change, the people who make up the party can, which is the most interesting part, who and who make up this heavenly party? Atiku,Ameachi,El rufai or Tambuwal? A simple research into the political happenings of recent time in regards to defection would make you come to the conclusion that nothing has changed,PDP is APC and vice versa...or atleast to an 80percent ratio, the 20percent would consist of individuals who have held positions in various levels of government...in Nigeria and didn't bring about the CHANGE in their various capacities as public office holders.Do we just say changing abbreviations to APC automatically washes away your sins? Fellow comrades permit me to say, "Can't we just assume that these are selfish and power hungry politicians who keep showing themselves up in our faces with varying party abbreviations and who care only about themselves and their ambitions?" Why in the world would I support a former office holder who made no positive change whatsoever and still say I want change? Maybe the change we seek is a name change, you know, PDP to APC and then ironically let our past leader(s) to rule us once again. Are we too brainwashed to see what is happening right before our eyes? Is it not high time we the people, the sufferer in all these call for an actual change?...In the form of vibrant,Intellectually sound individuals(be it PDP,APC,APGA,LP etc). Our vote matters,Heck! nobody said it must be the ruling party or the leading opposition,we must be wise or else the change we seek carries no meaning in our hearts. We talk GEJ(PDP,ya'll know his story) or GMB(former military head of state by a coup d'etat and three times presidential aspirant) but at the end of the day,what/who is the change we are talking of? Are we going backward or are we moving forward? What has changed, who has changed? Cos to me I don't see any difference between the both parties, If we need change, who will bring about these changes? I need clarity on these issues, hopefully we would all learn something new today. CC:Progressives and Democrats. |

Politics › Re: Dangers Of Voting Out GEJ For APC In 2015 by Djicemob: 4:55pm On Nov 08, 2014 |
gists: @mekaboy Why are you people always reasoning upside down. You accused apc and buhari of sponsoring bh. Let us assume for a moment that you guys are right and so I will ask you this question: With the military and interlligent services under gej, why is it so hard to gather enough evidence and throw the sponsors of bh behind bar and throw away the keys? After all that will demolish apc and pave the way for smooth return to the office for the drunkard fisherman. The CDS fled mubi just before bh took over, yet the president is more concerned about who takes over the mantle of leadership in the house of rep.
all the people that promised to make the country ungovernable are all members of pdp. have you asked your self why senator ndume (pdp senate member that always had information about the where-about of the chibok girls) was tried secretly? As at today no apc member has been accused of sponsoring bh. the only set of people accusing apc are your likes beclouded with bigotry and prejudice. all the arrests made so far (which we hear nothing about a few days after) have connections with pdp members. since according to you the northern muslims are the brain behind bh, why is sheriff who was accoused by davis yet to be questioned let alone arrested. If you don't know he moves freely with the C-n-C (coward-n-chief). And to your bigotted mind, until the mosque is bombed before you know that bh is an enemy to all. You have not heard (or pretend you didn't hear) that the bh just kill randomly without discriminating who is xtian, muslim, hausa, fulanit, tiv, igbo, yoruba?
You are just concerned about putting the blame on the opposition and generally criminalise all northern muslims and never bother to question those who have been saddled/entrusted with the responsibility of providing security.
@ Djicemob
I have told you peace is the one thing that we cannot wait for. Yes apc has manifesto and peace is just one of many others parts of it. But of what good is a manifesto is you don't have peace? The people in the bh controlled territory, do you think they give a fvck if Nigeria is the biggest economy? And by the way, is this inscurity what pdp has in its manifesto?
We are talking about securing Nigerian lives and all you are concerned about is the content of manifesto SHM. So in essence APC has no manifesto? |

gists: Jaundiced reasoning. Even if APC is only able to achieve peace, it would have achieved 1000 time better than your clueless brain-dead fedola hat wearing m0ron. We can and we have waited for constant power supply for decades, yet we continue our lives and buy our own personal generators. So many of us are not bordered about lack of gej's capacity and sincerity to provide constant electricity. We can and we have waited for good roads for decades. Many of us lucky enough have found a way around it with our personal jeep vehicles. So we are not bothered about the lack of this government and its predecessors to provide smooth roads. Many Nigerians have given up on our local schools. We spend millions of dollars to get quality education in foreign countries. Same goes for medical care. All these we have been used to and not really holding gej responsible for not correcting this abnormality.
But the major thing we are holding against him today is the introduction of insecurity at a scale never seen before. And to make matters worse, he doesn't seem to care! We have waited for decades for the aforementioned social facilities and we are used to waiting (unfortunately) but can we wait for security? Today, BH has seized a sizable chunk of Nigeria and it is said that the people living under BH-controlled territory is more that the total population of some countries. Let's not forget that the Chief of Defence Staff - the commander in charge of the army, navy and air-force evacuated his family and fled that territory a few days (or is it hours before the attach by BH) without adequate logistics for his men to battle the terrorists. The CDS and other security chives if you don't know is appointed by the president. Today the CDS and none of other top army chief has been fired. In fact the president is more concerned about the Tambuwal's defection to APC than to the plight of the people living under captivity.
So if APC wins and all they are able to achieve is to restore security which by the way is the primary responsibility of a government, then it would have achieved 1000 more than whatever the clueless skelewu dancing a$s-hole who think common stealing is not corruption.
As to whether apc is behind the insecurity. This is actually a big opportunity for the ediots in asso rock. He controls all the millitary and intelligent appartus in the country. Why not witch-hunt them with DSS/SSS et al and you will see that Nigerians (SW. SS and SE) will applaud him PROVIDED THE SSS AND CO PROVIDE UNDENIABLE PROVES THAT THE "WITCH-HUNTED INDIVIDUALS" ARE ACTUALLY BEHIND BH. You didnt even answer my question, all you did was write an epistle throwing curses at GEJ, And That is the problem with APC supporters, quick to throw critism everywhere but dont even know what they are coming to power to do.Are you saying APC was created to tackle the security issues only? |

olapluto: Here: Reports coming out of Mubi and Vimtim of major setbacks in the war against terrorism are distressing. Our thoughts and prayers are with our troops and those besieged by those marauding terrorists. May God keep you safe and grant us victory. It is becoming clear that the government lacks any coherent strategy on fighting terrorism. Any strategy for fighting terrorism must revolve around the 4Ds (Defeat, Deny, Diminish and Defend). That entails DEFEATING terrorism by exposing its sponsors and disrupting its support, DENYING it sanctuary and flushing it out of its safe havens, DIMINISHING the underlying conditions that terrorists seek to exploit like radicalism, intolerance and underdevelopment, and DEFENDING against new threats and proliferation of existing ones by targeting terrorist infrastructure wherever it exists. On the humanitarian level, the authorities must make provisions to feed the millions that are hungry, provide clothing and shelter for those displaced, and medical care and rehabilitation for the wounded and deeply traumatized. I strongly believe that Nigeria will not only defeat terrorism, but will succeed in bringing its sponsors and supporters to justice, no matter how long. May God help our troops. God bless Nigeria! Who is this one again? |

Ovamboland: One proof of the incompetence of this government is the fact that with all the arrest of BH fighters and bomb throwers no meaningful intelligence has been extracted from them to track the sponsors and backers of the group. But the government is content to let rumor mill tell us the sponsors are northern politicians and PDP spokesperson also uses religious angle by labeling opposition members supporter of APC. Yet the president has never called them to order, and yet expects votes and support from norther muslims. This fuels suspicion that the presidency and his party know more about how the insurgency has escalated and how it is financed than they disclose Its as if you didnt read my post.I said we are tired of the blame game and the criticism directed to the govt, elections are near,as opposition or change seeker can you tell us the things APC or whichever opposition have in store for us? Yea we know you gonna shout security!!! Apart from playing the illusive security card, what else? Was APC formed just to tackle the security issue? |

The next administration is more than capable to handle Jonathan, militants, Boko Haram and their Kidnapping partners. Other corrupt politicians who decides to continue funding violence and destruction in Nigeria will be fished out, evidence presented and the court will decide their fate.
Nigeria is bigger than any man or group of persons. Jonathan has failed, he is going home! The only card i see APC playing is the card on security and nothing else.Wait! Is peace the only thing APC are coming on board to offer nigerians? Why else would someone not feel that the APC are behind the current security issues and why it continues to linger and flourish.Lets assume there was no security threat in nigeria, does it mean the APC would be manifesto-less? |

egift: Buhari deserve the support of every Nigerian not because of the comic dispositions of the OP, but for very valid reasons: - Buhari will effectively tame corruption. Ensuring that politicians do not keep squandering the funds that should have been channeled into development. - Buhari will ensure that the Government Agencies and Institutions sits-up and perform their duties and run effectively. - While we have Fancy Economic Indices under Jonathan, Buhari will ensure that Nigerians are positively affected and economic lives improved. - Even those who hate Buhari will tell you, he will not remain silent and a terrorist group will be killing Nigerians and capturing towns under his watch. It is impossible. By now, those people and their sponsors will either be dead, in jail or hiding in remote parts of the planet. - Buhari appoints competent men and also allow them to bring their creativity and ingenuity to the office they occupy. - Buhari has a track record of working with people of diverse culture, language, religion and ethnicity, for the good of the Nation. Buhari will not despise anyone who holds contrary believes. - Buhari is a peace loving Nigerian who will do whatever it takes to ensure there is peace.
Nigeria needs leadership, not sentiments. Buhari will not continue the looting sprees of Jonathan - and will not let other Loot as well. Everyone that supports Buhari know what he stands for. Join hands and let us build a better Nigeria!
"General Muhammadu Buhari as a member of the Supreme Military Council and as Head of NNPC was by nature taciturn and introvert. But he took any work that was given to him very seriously.
