Christianity EtcRe: How I Started Praying/speaking In Tongues. (my Experience) by djseanjohn77: 12:06pm On Jul 14, 2024
David0002:
In the bible, speaking in tongues started on the day of pentecost, when the disciples of Jesus or the apostles were baptized with the Holy Ghost. They were speaking in the other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. You can find it in Acts chapter 2. Read it yourself.
.

You are right: The part you have not explained is that part where the people around heard them speak in their own native tongue.

Act 2: 7 Astounded and amazed, they asked, “Are not all these men who are speaking Galileans? 8 How is it then that each of us hears them in his own native language? 9 Parthians, Medes, and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia

The people of Parthians, Medes, Elamites etc heard them speak in their native tongues.

What it means is, supposing you are Yoruba speaking praying, and suddenly you are able to pray in Igbo, Ghanaian Ewe language, Egun language (badagry) etc, language that you have no previous understanding of.

That was the pure incident that happened in Act 2, it is not a reference to the type of speaking in tongue seen in Nigeria. However, i have once seen a real speaking in tongue, where a known Minister (stack illiterate) in the early 90s was asked by God to go and minister in the East. He was afraid at first but eventually he summoned courage and went with a team of brothers hoping one of them would be an interpreter. As God would have it, as he opened his mouth to start ministering, he spoke in fluent Igbo language until he finished delivering his message. Afterwards, they approached him thinking he was an Igbo pastor, but he could not even say a normal greeting in Igbo. Not that he could speak English or pidgin fluently, he was a stack illiterate.

Act 2: 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome, 11both Jews and converts to Judaism; Cretans and Arabs—we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!”

mrvitalis:
With leaders like this e go hard rock develop Nigeria...

Tinapa was meant to fail and we keep failing not because it's a bad project na it's a fantastic project

The issue is Nigerians don't have the "business" Population to make it profitable

3 years ago only 3.7milliom Nigerians spent 10 dollar plus per day... Now I'm sure it's below 2 million people

Going to tilapia would cost 50 dollars minimum... How many Nigerians have that to spare per capita

Calabar people would just go there to snap picture

Anyone who has done business in a mall knows the truth 70% of people just come to take pictures

Tinapa like ajokuta can't work the mistake has been made let it go
Bring the same TINAPA to Lagos and you will understand it will flourish. Any tourist destination in Nigeria outside Lagos, Abuja - it will mostly fail. In international bulletins, other regions in Nigeria are regarded as unsafe. That's why Lagos receives millions of visitors every year, and most of them never get to step foot outside Lagos, except Abuja.
PoliticsRe: 21 States Run Local Government Areas With Caretaker Committees by djseanjohn77: 1:46pm On Jul 01, 2024
vengertime:
Lagos State for example is Tinubu criminal enterprise, let me use one LGA as an example. Amuwo Odofin , the Local government is located inside festac at 41 Road, this criminal enterprise collect tax from festac residence in hundreds of millions but if you go to FESTAC the roads are like Gaza war zone.

Decades ago, one Tinubu right hand man Ayo was made the chairman by Tinubu and this idiot was literally using cement and sand to fix roads. Once rain fall twice they start all over again.

Back then around 202 road/ FESTAC police station there was a bank there (Oceanic bank) currently Eko bank. In front of their bank there was a drum hole not potholes that was causing traffic and they fixed it overnight because the LG chairman Ayo refuses to give them the go ahead to fix that pothole for free o.

Two days later, Ayo sent his thugs at midnight to destroy the spot again because he was expecting hundreds of millions from state government for that particular pothole.
FESTAC is Federal government property, that's why you need to understand the State you live in to be able to count yourself as a resident of the State. Along that axis, there are several FG domain....the inner roads on the other side of the road (Amuwo, Oluti, Alakija (has more FG domain too).
If you see Ayo maintain did his best in the areas his LG covered. Another hindering factor was the LCDA covered but are unapproved by the FG. So, whatever the LGs get in Lagos State are divided amongst the 47 LGs/LCDAs in Lagos. Lagos has 20 LGs and 27 LCDAs. I doubt if you even know the 27 by heart.

Cultural practices that aim at women being flogged by masquerades should be looked into by our Nigerian traditional institutions and the Ministries of Women Affairs and Youth and Culture respectively.

That is not new - Fela sang suffer suffer in the 70s, it was not a joke, he didn't sing it for fun but due to the prevailing poverty. Nigeria was never a better place.... the difference was, less population at the time, and no social media to relay grievances...

Rat Race, Majek Fashek, Ras Kimono etc in the 80s etc People have always been hungry and without a voice.

That quote above was enormous in that same year - compared to what an average person collects or civil servants. Nigeria's minimum wage in 1981 was N125/month only...that's 1500 pa. dollar rate was about N 0.58 / N0.6. And average person uses bicycle to go to work. A beetle car around 4k in the 80s, and average person can never save up to afford it in 10 years. If an average person was able to save N20 a month, it would take them about 20 years to be able to afford a beetle that year. More so, it was difficult for an average worker to save a dime from their salary then.

From these same guys that probably have not been to 5 countries of the world. They most likely live in the same Lagos they are rating.
With 2-10 employees, they are probably the only 3 people.  Aside Abuja, which other States in Nigeria can stand beside Lagos? Even with their demarketing strategies since few years now, the population of Lagos keeps growing. Why should any sensible person now pay attention to them, they are probably hustling for their daily bread, paid to provide statistic against Lagos, something that is irrelevant to the progress of Lagos other than social media banter and abuse that it will create from people that left their cities to make a living in the same Lagos.

Ask them to go back to their liveable States, rather than the population reduce, they will further bring their cousins, nephews etc.

The delusionary ones are still masturbating over Lagos being developed with Nigeria oil money. Cocoa developed most part of Nigeria until 1970. What was the infrastructural status of Lagos in1991 - Lekki does not exist as the whole of Maroko was demolished in 1990 by Raji Rasaki. SW had the first schools, first storey building, First Radio/TV Station, First School, First Railway etc.

By 1872 Lagos was a cosmopolitan trading center with a population over 60,000.
Verifiable Facts.
Apapa port was established in 1913 and the construction of 1st 4 deep water berths started in 1921.
Lagos Airport was initially built during 2nd World War (1945).
Carter bridge was built in 1901.
Lagos - Abeokuta railway was opened in 1898, got to Ibadan in 1902.

All the above existed before discovery of OIL, but some delusionary people will say Lagos was bult with oil revenue when the enabling and thriving economy had existed before Nigeria, since the 15th century when the Portuguese first landed in Lagos.

As far back as 1860s, Lagos already got electricity, telephone, post office, Schools, City Hall, recreation centres, Cathedrals, public & private hospitals, tarred roads, business districts and international trade centres etc.
As you can see, many of the developments in Lagos occurred b4 amalgamation and formation of Nigeria. So, Lagos was majorly developed by the locals and colonial masters, using revenues generated from Lagos and other parts of Western Region.

Mention one thing of significant that is owned by Federal Govt in Lagos aside military barracks....?

Reason why i don't bother me arguing with some people on here is, they are either Genz's who depend mainly on the false info provided them by their elder brothers who themselves relocated to Lagos in the late 90s after removal of FCT from Lagos in 1991. One of the key reasons most companies cited their headquarters in logos was security, environment, liveability.... recently, on the Eko Atlantic, the US are building their biggest embassies in Lagos, why not in Abuja? Lagos has stability, can easily be protected from uprising or resurrection.

Mr. Ignorance, if you were informed, you would know the idea didn't just start today or in 2018. There is almost no new thing that anybody wants to bring to the table in Nigeria, all plans and ideas are all in place - What we lack is management, implementation and prioritization.

Nigeria has a robust master plan that cut across all the federation, but we lack the willpower to implement or execute them. The idea of student loan was not a new thing neither, i has always been on the table, but no willpower to implement.

A lot of my people may not like this, but realistically Biafra may soon be an independent nation. Here's why; There are currently only three tribes in Nigeria that if they come together in total unity would become a nation, because these tribes are registered members of UNPO. They are: (with registration date)
1. Ogoni - 19 January 1993
2. Yoruba People - 31 July 2020
3. Biafra - 31 July 2020
(Source: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unrepresented_Nations_and_Peoples_Organization) Although the Ogoni's struggle was just against Shell & not to get a nation, they can become a nation if they want to. As for the Yoruba People, they were for a nation when they registered but Tinubu's political bid ended it. As for Biafra, Peter Obi's political ambition would have ended it, but jokes apart it's happening as far as Kanu is on trial for that reason & UNPO is not a joke as they've started making moves to establish members who are ready. Biafra passports & IDs just announced ain't a joke anymore, & lawmakers r aware.
Joker - do you know how many nations in the globe that seek secession and have not been granted? Some who have been granted are not recognised in any international body. UNP, UN Peter Obi ni...

Nigeria would have had that enshrined in our law - but for Nnamdi Azikiwe, he rejected Awolowo's proposal since Nigeria was largely dependent on Agriculture (Cocoa, from SW, cotton and groundnut then) - Nobody envisaged what the outcome of crude will be. It will take another serious war that will wipe over 50million out for such to come to play.

Kenyan president offers talks to protesters on tax bill
President William Ruto says he is open to dialogue on Finance Bill 2024, as protest against tax hikes continues for 6th consecutive day
Protests have erupted in parts of Kenya, with hundreds detained by police as citizens rejected planned tax hikes in the East African nation already grappling with escalating living costs.

Civil society groups said that at least 283 people have been arrested since Tuesday as protests flared over the proposed hikes.

The government faced backlash in the capital Nairobi on Tuesday over the controversial bill and was forced to amend it after dozens of demonstrators rallied outside the country’s parliament building.

Among the taxes suspended was a 16% value-added tax on bread and a 2.5% tax on motor vehicles, a statement from Kenya’s presidency said.

A proposed increase in mobile money transfer fees was also shelved along with taxes on vegetable oil. Additionally, levies on locally produced products, such as diapers and sanitary towels, have been dropped.

However, some Kenyans were not pleased with the changes and have called for the bill to be scrapped completely.

Demonstrators protest against proposed tax hikes in a finance bill that is due to be tabled in parliament in Nairobi, Kenya, Tuesday, June 18, 2024. Videos posted on social media Wednesday showed a group of protesters marching in the rain in Mombassa to express their displeasure over the bill.

In another location, protesters could be heard chanting: “Reject, not amend.”

Earlier on Wednesday, CNN affiliate NTV shared footage of police dispersing Mombasa protesters with teargas.

It’s not immediately known whether any arrests have been made in Mombasa, Kenya’s second-largest city.

Amnesty International’s Kenya office said it was “deeply outraged by the arbitrary arrest of peaceful protestors” in Nairobi on Tuesday.

I read but couldn't comprehend because prices of petroleum products keep rising daily above the reach of the Common Man.
The prices of crude is fixed internationally, for any country to pay less, their country needs to subsidise the rate. Crude is sold per barrel, and it has a cost, cost of refining, marketing, logistics etc increases the end product value......to sell cheaper, the country's government has to subsidies it.
Qatar is a country of 2.5 million people only, less than 2 LGA in Lagos (Surulere and Ikeja)... but Qatar sells it's refined product for 2.1 Qatari riyal (that's 852.6, QAR to naira is 406). For an average sedan, you will need 500QAR monthly for Transportaion to and from work, that's over 200k naira.

In a trending video 2 days ago, a man was recorded claiming God doesn't exist... what's your take on this?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9H5yGmjiwRA?si=afEm7HYzA7c1aB_z
Sadly, God does not need to prove anything to him to validate His existence....He doesn't work like that. Blaming God for your outcome in life or how things have turned is a result of the deception that has plagued Christendom, where we have been made to believe prosperity depends on how you can pray and fast. Nobody in the bible fasted for prosperity's sake, in the times of Moses, Elijah, Jesus, there were countless poor people in the land. The widow that gave all she had - and Jesus recogned that she was the highest giver, didn't receive any special blessing in monetary term for doing that. Everything was done for heaven's sake.

Sometimes, poverty is as a result of the negligence, nonchalant attitude of the past generations in a family, some had the opportunity but misused it, others didn't take chances. In other cases, some have fast-tracked their future successes, and the parents or grandparents have used up all that has been assigned to their coming generation. Other factors are limitation of environment or exposure, or education, family, knowledge, or lack of opportunities. However, in good environment, amidst opportunities, amidst plenty, one can still be poor, if you lack the necessary tools, skills, exposure, education. That's why we have people in Western world that are still poor, homeless and destitute, and depressed. Some took wrong financial decision. There are many Nigerians who travelled out for greener pasture but only end up in crime and prison. Some are homeless, jobless, poorer than they were, they can't even call home. Some are worse than their fellow counterpart they left behind even after 20 years etc.

All these are actions of man and a resultant of his decisions. It has nothing to do with God, He has made everything for our use, the ability to put them to good use lies in us, our failure to take opportunities is not His.

The people that God blessed in the bible that we often referenced, it's like 1 in a thousand...there are countless of such unrecorded scenarios that God never came through for, it does not limited His existence, He has never ever forced anyone to like Him or know Him or worship Him. But all man will return to Him someday, and give account, if He then 'often play a role in your decision, in your blessings, yet does not play same role in other people's lives, isn't that in itself unfair? The wickedness of man, from man to man is why some of these opportunities are limited to us. Your pastors is in constant competition with you, so are your brothers, friends, etc.

So why doesn't the US where houses are annually flooded due to torrential rains and severe weather events with some houses even carried away, resort to demolition of the flooded houses as the only solution?
Houses flooded, solution is demolition of such houses;thunder strikes or rains, not even heavy rains falls, solution is to immediately cut off power supply in Nigeria!
The answer is simple - because there is no encroachment. Nigerians encroaches beyond their approval....and you know it. A plot that is supposed to house a 3 bedroom and leave space for parking and recreation will build on every part of the land including a portion of the road in front of him - All trees cut down, no greenery to provide protection for the ground during flood. The US that you make reference to, all rules and regulations are adhered to strictly.
If powers are not cut in Nigeria during thunder strike, the risk of fire, electrical hazards are so high. How many of your houses have thunder protection? How many of your house has standard electrification? How many of your house uses standard wires and cables? Well you won't know those things are part of your responsibility to ensure and responsibility of government to protec...I doubt if you even know such things exist.

That's why when they travel to saner clime for greener pasture, they still can't survive but go into fraud or drugs. They are just lazy and got nothing to offer.

Government is still condoning them, let government introduce stricter punishment - like life imprisonment.

This is another dunce - given the time frame and our voting system, how many people get to vote within the stipulated timeframe? Ofcos, many are disenfranchised, that's why it is who gets there first or who is patient.

What most people do not understand is that, NLC/TUC are fighting for themselves and their fellow civil servants, what is the workforce of civil servants? The nation will be largely affected as inflation will hit on another level, price of food will go more up, much of the money will not even be able to cater for their needs again. However, the private sectors cannot cope, they will be forced to slice down manpower if at all they will increase salaries or better still fold up or overly decide not to pay - and watch NLC do nothing about it. How many times have you ever seen NLC or TUC fight or strike for private sector workers?
For private schools to be able to pay their teachers, they will need to increase school fees, the traders who send their wards to these schools too will have to increase profits to beable to meet up. While the jobless become more strained.

Halt property demolition in Lagos so that lagos can become a law-less place where people can build anywhere indiscriminately - where people can say government no go do anything, government no go show for next 100 years, or i know somebody wey go help me bribe somebody wey go make them not touch my house.
PoliticsRe: FG Sues 36 States At Supreme Court Over Local Government Autonomy by djseanjohn77: 2:42pm On May 27, 2024
LegendHero:
From FAAC.

—FG gets 52.68%
—States get 26.72%
—LG get 20.60%

I personally don’t believe FG should get that much percentage because it just does not make any sense. FG should also give some part of their percentage to the states/LG.

Finally, if the Supreme Court can give judgment that support full LG autonomy, that 20% will go a long way in making dividends reach the grassroot more.
The largest employers of labour in Nigeria is still the FG, most States do not have 2k workers on their payroll. The FG of Nigeria has more assets than many States put together in Nigeria, if those assets are handed over to some States, it will crumble, and the workers will be laid off. These assets are scattered across the country. What Nigeria needs is decentralisation, let every arm of government -Fed and State
For example, the US Fed spent 6 trillion last year 2023 even though the budgeted was 4 trillion...the closest State was sparsely at 220 billion (Washington DC) - The Fed still had to spend more than all the States put together.

We need complete power dissolution and state autonomy. Some States in Nigeria are parasites. And i think some other states with resources will poorly manage it, they will completely disenfranchise some of their regions without anything. That is where we will realise that the tribal sentiment in Nigeria is far from distant tribes, it is deeply rooted in States level among brothers of same States. More clashes and ethnic conflict will arise, this i have seen.

Everything dailymail said about Nigeria is true,

Nigeria is a banana republic, barbaric place where rule of law doesn't exist. Wild wild west where everyone with a little power think dey can do as they like. Why not allow police to do investigation and fish out those thugs. Why should our military be acting like agberos all the time

Oyinbo say Nigeria is a useless country and we are proving them right.

With this useless people in the army I have the feeling that junior officers are going to take over government in Nigeria very soon.
Just shattap - worse happens in US and other parts of the world everyday, na una way never leave shores of Naija go dey use every opportunity call Naija names.

Mourn or no mourn,
The list of Casulties of those whose life sworn ambition was to Destroy the Apple of GOD'S Eye has increased.

Pharoah of Egypt was sunk in the Red sea alongside his full army.
All the first born in Egypt from Pharoah to the least person, both Humans and animals were Wiped out of the Earth in one Nite

Haman was Hanged in the gallows he prepared alongside his 10 sons. His people were wasted.

Herod was eaten up by worms alive

Nebuchadnezzar was made to Eat Grass

Hamas is being Wasted

Raisi of Today's Persia iran has been destroyed alongside others in the mountains of Azerbaijan .

Personally, I have no mourn to mourn.
I Have Warn to warn!

Nations and indivduals who value themselves should Perish the thought of Destroying Israel. It Cannot Happen. You will Destroy and Waste yourself and people.

ISRAEL is GOD ALMIGHTY Signature on the Earth.
ISRAEL is the Apple of GOD'S Eye.
ISRAEL is a COVENANT Nation.
GOD ALMIGHTY is a COVENANT Keeping GOD.

GOD Deals terribly with ISRAEL When they Go astray from HIS Word.
When they return to HIM, HE Deals terribly with those who come to destroy HIS Signet.

Israel is even not a Christian country or believer of Christ grin grin grin grin
