2buff: You have to understand, he is in pain.
He feels like an imb3cile (or worse as the bible would say) because he currently cannot be the main supplier for his family due to factors he cannot control. We men have our egos, and we derive it from certain things, like being providers to our families.

Please look at it with an understanding heart.
Hug him tight and express to him that he is still your hero.
Comfort and encourage him that there are greater things lined up for him in life and that you intend to be with him. Encourage him to not lose faith.

Also, as to yourself, I know how Nigerian women act when they find themselves in this position. They may not even be aware when they begin their fuckup. BE VERY CAREFUL of any idle/thoughtless statements you make about the situation. Don't ever even come close to verbally kicking the man while he is down. If he is the same Godly man you married, he will come to with love.

...But on the real, are you both not supposed to be planning everything together from the same pot? Which one is this His thing/My thing? huh How do marriages like this even work in this day and age? undecided
Your last paragraph is what lingers in my mind while reading the original post...

Amya: The true test of being a man is taking some life decisions solely, sticking to it all on your own, good or bad. Who to marry is one of such decisions.

If you are really a man, then don't let your mum make decisions for you. Her influence should be limited to advisory opinions and not decisions.

Are you a man or a mouse?
The title of the thread says "wife cooks badly" na.

Intent or no intent, she does not cook but if she does not intend to cook, there has to be a reason, it is either she is a horrible cook hence she stays away or she is lazy in which case is terrible.

I don't condone the lazy part but if she cooks badly, then the husband should find ways to substitute.

PS: no matter how hard you teach some people, they can never be good at somethings......I can't draw.....I have had lessons and lectures and I still cannot draw. Same thing with some people and mathematics
Bro the post you referred to was not referring to the topic but in response to @ib... So, my response as regards your post was still inline with the post that quoted @ib which wasn't about not knowing how to cook but sorely on the willingness to not cook.
@Dmcdad, I have an aunt who can't cook or lets say her cooking is horrible and she does not deny it. Her children know and her husband does too.

She has had a cook with her since she has been married and she is still married. And don't tell me she is of "this age" cos she is a grand mother right now and will soon be 60.
It's a different case when one doesn't know who to cook owing to "horrible cooking" like you stated, and a case whereby there is never an intent to cook or learn how to cook.

Won't you agree?
Family › Re: Wife Cooks Badly by dmcdad: 2:43pm On Aug 07, 2013
ibkaye: Your comparison that is, there's nothing wrong with wanting a wife that cooks but then I also believe there's nothing wrong with not liking and/or wanting to cook, it's about meeting in the middle really, how do you compromise?
My dear, why is it this modern day we have something as "not liking and/or wanting to cook?" Please, have you ever seen any woman amongst your parents' peers who never liked to cook? I guess not. Don't you think there has been a degeneration in such values?

I am not disputing the fact that a man can choose to cook. Personally, irrespective of the kinda schedule I might have in future, I would make sure a day is dedicated to me alone. A day I would do everything from cooking to washing of dishes at home. That's how interesting I want my home to be. But to tell me that a man should cook as part of his fundamental duty is very wrong. It's a woman's duty and whether any gurl choose to accept it o or not, it can never change.

I can't even believe people will come out this bold to say a man or a woman should cook, like they should be alternating it. Jeez!

Na wa ooooo. I fear but I no run

ireneidiva: Abegi this is 2013; things have changed. Live with it. Get a cook. Or do it yoursely DIY.
Yeah you are right, this is 2013. This is what the so-called modern age is bringing about. The thing is; the westerners you guys look up to do cook for their family and all. Why is it that we Nigerians seldom take the good part of something. Must we always be known for adopting negative values?

I respect your decision anywayz, but as far as I am concerned, my wife will do the cookings at home and no one will change that. Call it whatever you like, it's up to you.

the next thing is for you to tell me that because it's 2013, men ought to be carrying pregnancy alongside women. I know if it's something that can be altered, a lot of you girls would give your lives up to change it.

God help us all.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by dmcdad: 10:45am On Aug 07, 2013
MARTINO SATISFIED WITH HIS SQUAD

And Barça's new centre back is... Puyol!

Both Martino and his assistants have been surprised at the
quality of the squad, and have concluded that with the
players they have, they are good enough to compete on all
fronts.

Although on 2nd August Rosell stated that Barcelona would sign
another player before the transfer window closes, the coaching staff
do not consider this to be absolutely indispensable. This is down to
the good recovery being made by Puyol, who should be at maximum
match fitness inside one month.

Both Martino and his assistants have been surprised at the quality of
the squad, and have concluded that with the players they have, they
are good enough to compete on all fronts. At the back, Martino has
Alves, Adriano, Montoya and Jordi Alba at full-back, with Piqué,
Puyol, Mascherano and Bartra all available in the centre. The problem
is that in recent seasons the captain has been beset with injuries and
has thus not played even half the possible number of games. Right
now he is still recovering from a knee operation (removal of a Baker's
cyst) connected to the arthroscopy which he underwent on 15th
March.

In principle, however, Puyol should have no problems in recovering
his peak level of fitness and it is thought that following the short
break in league fixtures because of international requirements, he
ought to be all right. Additionally, the club is not ruling out making
use of the winter transfer window if need be, if Puyol suffers any
setbacks.

The club is working on this just in case. David Luiz of Chelsea and
Daniel Agger of Liverpool seem to be the likeliest candidates. Oddly
enough, Agger did not travel with Liverpool on Tuesday to play a
friendly game in Norway, and so rumours about him leaving have
taken off.

but seriously, some people just don't enjoy cooking so they don't wanna learn. They don't claim to know how to cook: they just don't like it
It's like a man who decides to stay at home always because he doesn't enjoy going to work. How silly...

Modernisation is really doing the human race more harm than good. Na only God go help those of us that yet aspire to get married to good and virtuous women. Because it is seemingly becoming a phantasmagoria rather than a reality of getting a wife and not just any woman.

Sure! There was a little gurl pestering me at the church some time ago. That very day she was just making me feel restless with her distances. I happened to take her wallet forcefully after she failed to give it out willingly, Lo and behold she had some condoms inside. I was shocked!

So, fear them... Imagine a girl of 15-16 walking about with condoms in her wallet.

You quite know how embarrasing it is to buy it,yet you gave it to a child to take the bad name. May other promicuous men send your own kids to buy condoms.

Tosinville: man, if I say that's suicidal does not mean you should go get yourself killed lol, dnt get my shit twisted up, I'm saying that in an idiomatic expression trying to let you know that it pains to the bone seeing your wife in the arm of an old man fews days after dumping ur ass? Shows u aint got game and a loser for life. Funny with these NL kids up in here that always says MOVE ON as if that's how easy it is to move on, I know move on is extremely easy to type with ur filthy hands until u be in this same situation then that's u will realize its not really easy to move on on ur wife.
I get your point but always be mindful of your choice of words. If someone doesn't see something the same way you do shouldn't prompt you to use foul words. That's childishness at the highest order.

It's all good though.

Princess zoe: The "jokinly" part is what am referring to. Never you use the name of your God to joke. Respect that name. In as much as i understand the message you were trying to disseminate, you don't have to use that name "JESUS" the way you did. Please be guided. Your choice though.
My dear we don't have to argue over this, I appreciate your concern but like I stated earlier on, it doesn't matter how the message is disseminated but what is entails. So please save me the religious lessons like I don’t know the difference between using the name of the Lord in vain and trying to diffuse a salient point.

Whatever you say is up to you now cause I'm out.
