jamebex: Never tell a consular agent that you have been doing nothing. Particularly for an extended period. In your case you were working for your dad, that means you were not idle. All you need to do is to find a nexus between what your father does and your intended course of study, and try to relate it to a possible role upon your return to the company. In so doing you have been able to tell them that you were not just idle, and also your intended study is borne out of neccesity.

@jamebex and others thanks for your contributions but I think I have to tell you that the type of business my dad involve in didn't go the same way with my major. I intended studying computer sc. And my dad is a sales distributors of Mouka and Yinka Oba Foams and also deal in transportation business. I use to work as his secretary and I'm the one that help in recording his day to day transactions. So please kindly advise me how you think my major is related with I do for him. jimtosam: You cant pay in Nigeria. Go to ECO Bank Seme Border or ask some1 here to pay for you. For more info about ECO bank seme border. Type this on you google search boe " paying sevis fee at ECEOBANK semeborder nairaland". Google will take you to the page in this thread part2.

Good Morning To You All, Please a lot have been going thru my head lately becos I will be going for my interview soon but I get a question to ask all my fellow nairalanders which I believe would be of great help for me. My question goes thus: I graduated from high school in 2009 and since then have been wasting my time to get admitted into the Nigeria Defence Academy not knowing that they don't use to give admission base on merit alone but with super connection (some ppl on here will know what I'm saying). If the VO ask what have I been doing since I finish high school, please do I need to tell him this or can I just say have been working for my dad as a secretary but I don't get pay for it as a normal worker since its a family business. Please I need advise on how to answer this type of question if possible it comes my way that day. Thanks

House Abeg which one be MRV Payment Receipt and also it is true that Sevis Fee Payment can be made at UBA?

GboyegaD: You don't need it as stated on your I-20 and I don't think VOs ask for TOEFL results from Nigerians in most cases.

House please does anyone know if the original 2009 Neco certificiate is out because I have with me only the statment of result I got from my school and I also have with me the notarize copy. In case if the original is not yet out, can I go with the two ( Statement of result and the notarized copy)?

walex57: Yeah it means they are satisfied with your English proficiency, and so no need for TOEFL but as an amour, you can still take a letter or email printout from your school saying in clear terms that it was actually waived....just gather yourself together and go with faith, confidence and favor. all the best

House please I need your advice. On my I-20, it was beeen written and I quote "This School Requires English Proficiency" and under they wrote " The student has the required English Proficiency". Does this mean that they have given me a waiver in writing Toefl? Because the school told me that its not necessary for student from nigeria to write it and I was been given admission without the exam. So please I need u guys to explain in details to me what they meant by the sentences I quoted above. Thanks

My school just sent my new I-20 now because after i got denied for falls i had to defer my admission. So my question is, can i still use my Sevis fee for the new I-20, Or let me put it this way, does every i20 come with different Sevis ID number? or always the same ID number so far its still the same school. and Can i book for interview without having my New i-20 at hand. I await your response.

PS. I read on the internet some days ago. Ambassador McCulley says Nigerians are to get US visa within 20 days. Please how true is this.

chiomaodo: Hello House,my sincere appreciation to every1 that ve contributed in 1 way or d oda in this thrend.u guys ve really been helpful.I went for my interview yesterday and I got my visa.The interview was short and to be sincere it was jus God and nobody else.My interview was 7;30am,got there around 7:00am did all the checks,entered did d Bio and had my interview around 9;00am.I was refused last fall cos of insufficient fund and my sponsor then was my uncle wt a diff surname,I changed my sponsor this time to my Sis,this is jus to tell u that ur faith matters alot.I was adviced not to change sponsor but i did and it worked so I believe as you go through the thrend for those yet to go for their interview you learn and also build ur confidence,d iterview went this way

NOTE to be taken: I am in no position to give advice cos my own experience had more to do with divine intervention than my skills. However, I'll tell you on thing ALWAYS TELL THE UNDILUTED TRUTH, look them in the eye when you speak and be yourself. Do not treat it like a Job interview relax and let God take control. BECAUSE NO ONE CAN SAY DEY KNOW HOW D VOs think. Your situation may be different, but confidence and honesty might do the trick. I hope this boost ur confidence and do not be intimidated by other (i.e their result and stuff) belief in urself.

Because if on the 29th August,2012, it already indicating New York, I am sure, all things been equal, the receiving university should have received it by now. However, you need to call the admission office of the school, to confirm if they have receive it. Best of luck.

Secondly i was asked to send a Notarized copy of my ssce statement of result which i did on the 29th Aug using the same Nipost Register Mail and ever since then have been tracking my package but the message have been recieving base on this is quite different and here is what have been getting each time i tried to tracked it. Delivery status information is not available for your item via this web site. A return receipt after mailing may be available through your local Post Office. Can anybody tell me what exactly this message is trying to tell me? please i need an urgent answers. thanks

I sent my transcripts on the 24th Aug through Nipost Register Mail and when i tracked it a week after the date i sent it, i got a message dated and time August 29, 2012, 9:50 pm And Location of my Item is in ISC NEW YORK NY(USPS). I beg can anybody here tell me when will USPS deliver my package to my school in VA?
