lol De Tus: @Eedrism, sorry about that. You did very well. I only think that the white guy was programmed not to visa at that particular time. That was why he said "please re-apply". Sometimes when the VOs deny visas do they feel it. They truly do. They know it brings saddest. It brings unhappiness. I wish I could become a VO later in life, to interview people, to interview white people. Believe me, i'll make them cry. Have you ever seen when whites are unhappy? Their eyes are usually so red. Much red than the people who smoke weed lol. |

I know you were scared because i was once in that state too. I almost got the visa in my first interview but that fear exhausted me and my voice was shaking lol. Anyway my advise is that you should reapply again and be positive. Don't give any negative feeling a chance both in your head and mind. Have the faith and believe that you will be giving the visa no matter what. Above all Pray before you go back again. eedrism: Thanks, well 2me nd my brodaz, wat dey see was dat,I A̶̲̥̅♍ too prepared nd couldn't go straight 2 d point,nd 2me mysef I know I A̶̲̥̅♍ very scared when d interview was going on,d boldness was dere b4 I was interview,bt immediiately I stood up,eveything flew away...but A̶̲̥̅♍ planning to re apply asaP again..pls u all advise.+yes I did both SAt/TOEFL,but my SAT result didn't show online till now,but I have my toefl result. |

Congrats! It was the Lord's Doing and Special Thanks to Big Francis too. Ricky Rozay: My F-1 Visa was Approved today at the lagos Embassy.
First of all, I want to thank everyone here in the house for making it possible for me.. It's not by my power, it was just God that was just working his Magic for me. I want to thank everyone here in the house for helping me out.
And I want to use this Medium to give a special appreciation and thanks to Bigfrancis... Please you all should help me thank Bigfrancis, I can't thank him well enough. It's God that will reward your Good works here.. You shall get your Visa too and share your Good news here with us too. Please always listen to his advice, the guy is a Genius.. Seriously. That is what I regard him as. If NOT for dis guy called Bigfrancis here on Nairaland, I won't have gotten my Visa today... All thanks to him...
I got to the Embassy by 6am, and my appointment was scheduled for 7:30am. I did the proper checks, and biometrics and we were waiting for our ticket numbers to be shown.. Seriously the security at the US Embassy is veryyy tight ooo. E no go easy to carry bomb inside there ooo. Lol!!
I love their excellence. Well composed people. You will pass through different security checks and they will scan you more that what they even do at International airport self... US Embassy values It's citizens.. Nothin bad must happen to dose VOs... If Not na war we go see for Naija oooo. Lol!!!
I gave my brother my phone to keep for me. I don't know what happened to me, I was never scared. I just had the confidence in me. I didn't even know where it came from. I guess It was God..
The Asian guy at Window 2 was just denying people like hell mehn.. He even denied a girl that was going for Heart sugery operation.. The girl kept begging him after he denied her but dis guy no even gree ooo. D guy no get joy oooo. Chai... I felt bad for the girl.
He Only approved one pretty tall girl like this and one elderly man and a family man.. The Asian guy was the only male today, other counters were women. And I kinda prefer the women to the males. The males are too strict.
The rest counters were okay.. They were issuing very well, if u can prove your case very well..
I was interviewed by one Black american woman, probably in her mid 60s or so...
So here is how my Interview went;
ME: Goodmorning ma (Bending my head) VO: Good morning, pass me your documents
VO: What school are you going to? Me: (Honestly speaking, I didn't even hear what this woman was saying here, her mic wasn't that loud, so I just wanted to say something and replied) - I raised up my hands to show sign of Gesticulation while explaining, then I said, this course will provide me with an in-depth understanding in what is in.............
VO: Interrupts me, Please don't tell me what you have rehearsed. Okay? Me: (I just dey shocked, I just said to myself, I don die today, I had already practice fully well for this interview with lots of interview questions I got from Nairaland previous threads) then I responded to her and said - I'm very sorry ma.. (Mehn u need to see d way I just dey humble myself.. I raised up ma two hands up to apologise to her).
VO: So what school are you going to? Me: Minnesota State Univertsity Mankato.
VO: What course are you going for? Me: Business Administration and Management
VO: What do you do in Nigeria: Me: I work in my Uncle's company, to enable me gain the knowledge and skills................
VO: Interrupts me for the second time - Please don't tell me what u have rehearsed. When I ask you a question, just go straight to the point. Okay? Me: I'm very sorry ma. No problem ma..(Bending my head to show more sign of respect, as I hear dt statement, I just dey humble myself. I con put ma two hands at ma back as a sign of respect)
VO: Where are your SAT scores Me: (Bent down on the ground to look for the Score report), then I gave it to her and told her Thank you ma..
VO: Typed on her computer to verify ma scores and asked for my SSCE certificate Me: (bent down on the ground again to bring it out, I put my bag on the ground, I guess the woman noticed that I was well behaved, becos lots of people will just park their bags on top of the counter) I gave it to her and said Thank you ma..
(Me, I just dey do eye service ooo. (Me na US visa I dey find) Lol!!!!
VO: So what happened to your physics. (I had a D7 in my physics in my WAEC) (she was also typing on her system and verifying my WAEC certificate Number on her system, to know if it is AUTHENTIC. Me: I actually bought the physics textbook online to prepare me for the exam but the textbook didn't get to me early. So I had little time to practice for the exam.
VO: When did you finish high school? Me: I finished in 2007
VO: So what have you been doing for the past 5 years? Me: I was working in my uncle's company and assisted the financial management department in financial audit....like checking the expenditure and income of the company.......
VO: Interrupts me for the third time, we all know all this things are called accounts, so nothin new, Me: (I was just stucked of words, this woman no wan give me time to even explain self, I wanted to finish her up with what I have practiced with, because my head was really Hot!!!!!. she is always interrupting me, she no go let me land before she throw me bomb. I was already loosing hope that my own don finish today)
VO: So you have not been doing anythin for the past 5 years? Me: (I quickly use sense sharply, becos I was already sensing my denial approaching) then I told her this - When I finished high school I also went to a polytechnic to do my OND.
VO: Good. You should have told me earlier, So since you have an OND why are you still starting afresh again from the beginning? ME: (I was just confused, (why will I tell her earlier, when she didn't even give me a breathing space. Since I am going for Undergraduate, because I believe OND was just a diploma used to gain admission to year 1 in US schools)... (Then I just wanted to say something sha and told her) - It is just an ordinary Diploma and I still need to get my Bsc.
VO: You have an OND degree which is equivalent to an Associate degree in the US, why going to start again from the beginning, why can't you tell your school to transfer your credits to your US school. ME: (I didn't know what to say again. I just said okay ma).
VO: Okay, do that for me please, inform them to transfer your credits to your school Me: Okay ma, I will do that, I con think say the woman wan denial me, but dt wasn't all, she continue again
VO: So what other schools did you apply to? ME: I applied to Eastern kentucky University, Oklahoma Panhandle State University, Minnesota State University, (I was about saying the name of the last school I applied to, because I applied to a total of 4 schools, then the woman just cut me off again.)
VO: Who's sponsoring you? Me: My Uncle ma.
VO: Does he have kids? Me: No ma. ( I guess this response scored me a good point making the VO believe I won't be of Financial burden to my Uncle)
VO: So is he married? Me: No ma, ( another good point)
VO: So is your Uncle in Nigeria (typing fast on her computer, she was barely looking at me self, only when she wan throw me bomb, she go con show face. Lol) Me: Yes ma.
VO: Can I see his Financial statement? Me: (bent down on the ground again quickly and brought it out and gave it to her. And I said Thank you ma.. Me I just dey loyal ooo. Lol!!!!
VO: Takes a look at it and looks at it thoroughly, turns to the back and look at the closing balance and she pointed something on her glass and on my i-20, (I guess she was calculating the funds on the exchange rate to know if I have sufficient funds on my Bank statement), then she looked at my i-20 and said,
VO: What is this Cultural contribution scholarship Written here on your i-20? ME: It is a scholarship given to me by the school, which will enable me pay tuition at in-state rate..
VO: Returns back my sevis fee reciept, and gave me back my Bank Statement, but didn't bother bending down again to put it back in my bag, just to enable me still remain focused, becos I can do that when I'm through, (I just know say she wants to make her Final decision) Then she puts my i-20 into my passport and brings out a slip,
Then she said: You pick up your Visa, if you having any problem in the US, pls call this number., started writting something on my pick up slip with a marker............
ME: I was just shocked!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't even want to listen to her statement anymore, as I was already excited, I quickly took the slip and told her Thank you ma like 3 times because I was shocked, then she replied; Okay. I wish u Goodluck.
After all this battle with her and she still issued me the Visa. I just called myself a lucky person, it's God's favour all thru.. I fasted for 4 days and kept praying and believing in God.
NB: Please anyone going for interview, should NOT show the VO any document unless requested.. When you show dem documents they didn't request for, it irritates them... And tins can't turn out good with you and the VO.. I ONLY showed the VO documents she requested for. Which is the My SAT score report, ORIGINAL Waec certificate and Bank Statement.
And when the VO started warning me, to keep my answers straight to the point, I just gave my self brain and obeyed her, because na she be my superior at that moment.. Lol!! So u have to be loyal to the VOs my brother and sister ooooo. Because your Future is about to be determined by them, either you move or stay.
Any small mistake you make, always apologise to them with your hands... Like waiving to them and bow down your head.
It will also help you get back on track wth the VO and she might forget about your flaws...
Please, peeps going for their interview soon, should please try to do a Standarlized test, Like SAT and TOEFL for undergraduates..
And GRE or GMAT for Masters.
Because the First document that VO demanded from me is my SAT score report, and assuming I didn't have my SAT score report with me, I would have been DENIED without any exceptions...
I also read the previous threads of nairaland and I will really say it boosted my confidence.. As I noticed that even when the VO kept attacking me, I wasn't nervous, I was just remaining humble and loyal to her and I was believing things will turn out good.
The WAEC certificate I showed the VO had an Error in my Middle name...
My correct Middle name is OSAYEMEN but it was WRONGLY written on my WAEC certificate as OSAYEMEH..
But the VO overlooked it and didn't even ask me anything about the error, I guess she didn't notice the error, and me I didn't even bother to go along with an affidavit of correction of name.. You see how GOD works....
And also, I told the VO that I did my OND in a polytechnic but she didn't even ask me for my OND certificate...maybe she forgot to ask me, OR she felt there is no need of asking me since I have given her my SAT scores and WAEC certificate, she might be thinking I already have anything with me... And me, I DIDN'T have the OND certificate with me..
Assuming she asked for the OND certificate and I'm unable produce it to her, and start telling her stories, the VO would have DENIED me straight up without even looking back because the woman was looking for something to tackle me with at the US Embassy but GOD pass them...
So, you guys can see how GOD works, when GOD says YES, No one cam say NO..
Success to all those having their interview this week, GOD shall favour u all at the US Embassy and we shall be moving to USA together as ONE.... Love you all!!!!!!!!
it's not even by the amount of the practices you have done and the rehearsals. But although it is good to prepare well for the Unexpected. It's God that give Visas and answers prayers....
Also to dose who might be thinking about age as a determinant for Visa approval and travel experience: let me tell you this;
1. I am going for my Undergraduate studies
2. I am Only 22 years old
3. I have never traveled outside the country before in my life. This is just my first time of even going to an Embassy.
4. My International Passport is a Virgin passport. No previous travel experience
So age and travel experience are NOT determinants for US F-1 Visa
Enroute now to Obama Land... USA here I come babbbbbbbbyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!
Thanks Nairalanders, I am grateful to you guys..
And also I want to dedicate this my success story here to Bigfrancis, because he made this possible for me.. He gave me scopes and tips.. And this contributed to the success of my interview.... |

Try to take some time to do some little research about your school, the geographical area of the state it is located in as well as the neighbouring states. Those VO want know to every single information you know about where you are going to study since its your first time of going there and as a student they expect you to know at least little about where you are going to study. Don't rush going back to the embassy without getting some vital information about your school and its geographical areas. risher ris: the point is .....during my very first interview, i was very nervous.the consular did not even request any docs from me.he asked a few questions that i did answered well but he still denied me.the second interview, my interviewer said he s not in the position to issue me a visa right now that he s not the one that denied me that was last spring and this fall again i was interviewed by the same guy that interviewed me the very first time he asked a few questions too and did not request any document from mebut he asked a question i did not answer really well,he said why did i choose that very location?and i told him i have not being to the united states before and how will i know what what and what is in the location...and he asked some few questions afterwards and i did answer well but this time around he gave me a separate denial form still under section 214b that says i should re apply at any time by submitting a new application, photo and pay visa fee to be interviewed by a consular........thanks |

@kpolli Here are the criteria i use to select the christian university: -Cost which is 10% low compare to other private and some public universities in the US. -Location - Campus Personality -Fields of Study (Which is computer science and this school offer an intelligence cognate which combine the key elements of computer science with skills need to work in the intelligence community/military. -Facilities -Accreditation - Lastly the school is the largest christian university in the USA and the school provide one on one faculty interaction with a Christ centered environment . |

Congrats to all that got their visas and wishing you all the best in your studies. Does anybody know about Southern Arkansas University? i'm planning to apply to this school for the 2013 fall semester admission and also do i need to pay another sevis fee if i apply to this school and the reason why i want to apply to this school is because i remembered during my last interview, the VO asked me why i'm going for computer science major in a christian university ? Please i need some advice. |

newacca: Sorry about your refusal. You should have provided a letter backing you up against the SAT. (Exemption) You want to study Computer science, you finished from High school in 2009,and you were doing voluntary job as a Secretary at your Dad's company. As chap that is intelligent and got good grades from high school and wanna study in Comp.Science in the states, why can't you get yourself familiar with the field with certification prog. and practical skills and get it documented rather than sitting in your Dad's company as a Secretary, even without any fixed pay. The VO may think you are not smart enough. He may think your intent is not genuine. (Just my thought though) Try work on this areas and fire again if you can. Good luck. Can you or someone tell me more about the Certification prog. I can go with when next am going? I know about a diploma course which I did in 2010 but it was a six month program and I have the cert. For the program. Can I go with this? What kind of work can I said have been doing since the completion of the computer traning course I did in 2010? Please more advice. Thanks |
