*God didn't create any problem existing on the earth, but men did. So, if a lasting solution will come to any problem on the earth, it must come from a mind superior to the one that created it.* The only way to improve your mind is to improve your thoughts, and you are not going to improve your thoughts until you start thinking. *Most people speak and act before they think and then regret later. Leaders think and think.* Before, during, after, and long after others have stopped thinking, the leader is still thinking. He thinks about the statement that he wants to make, the implications and the consequences.

*Train yourself to think and to listen to yourself talk.* Sometimes, somebody is talking to me, and I say, "Bro, repeat what you have said again. Did you hear yourself? How did it sound to you?" And then he says, "I'm sorry." He didn't hear himself speaking initially, and if he did, he would have known that he was speaking nonsense.

To meditate is to turn something over in your mind on and on. *The more you train yourself to think on something solid, the more your mind becomes flexible and widened.* Mind your mind. *Your mind is like a box;* you determine the width, depth and height of your mind. *God has given everybody a brain; what you do with it is left to you.* Some people live and die with only a brain, but thinkers turn their brain into a mind.

*PRAYER:* I receive a renewal of my mind in Jesus name. The power of a sound mind takes over my mind. I shut down every negative thought pattern rising in me.

*TOPIC: IMPROVE YOUR LEADERSHIP SENSE THROUGH IMITATION AND SERVICE (II)*
Philippians 4:9, Matthew 25:26-28

*One of the most effective ways to learn is by service. You learn by allowing somebody to 'use' you.* You will never learn many things until you are sent on errands along that line. As you are sent to do one thing or the other, you learn and understand many things.

I told one of my pastors that the leader of the ministry he came from was wiser than him because he was made a victim and slave of the system, such that he couldn't survive except he stayed in that system. There is none of my associate pastors or pastors that I trained that cannot make a successful living on their own except one that is against himself. This is because they all do enough in our ministry such that if a day comes that they cannot continue as pastors, they will have a unique skill set that can earn them a living elsewhere.

I've had three or four people that became professional printers and publishers from pastoring. They became that by being sent to print my books, by staying with the printer and going through the rudiments to understand the details; and that's what they're doing for a living today.

No one should release anybody from work such that the person finds it difficult to live or survive afterwards. If it ever happens, that means such a person has been lazy, is a layabout, and will be a slave. *People that only go to work to earn a salary are just destroying themselves. You should constantly ask yourself, "What am I learning? What can I do?" What you are learning at your current job is extremely important.*

*PRAYER:* Lord, I receive wisdom and understanding to learn correctly in the place of service.

*ACQUIRE THE REAL SUBSTANCE, NOT THE TITLE*
Luke 6:39-40.


*Strive to acquire the real substance of leadership instead of leadership titles.* Situations will respond to the leadership life in you and not the title you are called. *The higher the degree of leadership life in you, the more you will be dissatisfied with inactivity and indolence.* When someone suggests, “We can't continue like this, we need to do something about this situation” in a particular environment, it is the level of leadership life inside him that is agitating against a wrong status quo. In the same situation, where someone with a high level of leadership life is dissatisfied, you will see some other people indifferent because the leadership life level inside them is shallow.

*You don't have to be born-again to have a high sense of leadership.* When there is a problem somewhere, it takes leadership life to respond to it. You must find what to do to solve the problems peculiar to your circumstance and do what is right.

Who you are is different from what you do. *The advantage of being born-again is that you can do something acceptable to God as a leader.* It is possible to do something in circumstantial situations or be constrained to do something unwillingly, and people who get involved with you will know that you're fake. Some people resent what they are doing but can't stop. It is when their circumstances change that their actual behaviour will manifest. The leadership life in us is nurtured by some things we do. As we are in the last days' move of God, God is looking for men who will stand and raise His banner as leaders, not just in the church, but also in different spheres of life.


*PRAYER:* Lord, help me to improve my leadership sense. Let the leadership life in me increase and help me build the right attributes that qualify me for Your purpose.

*13. START EARLY*

*Wake up early as a leader to praise God. Start your day early, don’t encourage laziness.* Joshua rose early. Jesus rose early. David left early to face Goliath. You must not be a late riser! A leader needs a heart fixed on the things of God. He must be a self-starter. He can’t sing only when things are good. David said, “I will sing...” His songs were a decision of will and not a result of swinging moods.

To a leader, praying to God is a choice already made, not a feeling that comes and goes. *A leader that is faithful in the place of prayer will have a vantage position in the spirit, so much so that God will always give Him divine information.* A spiritual leader must not be ashamed of God among people and sinners.

*14. LEAD OTHERS TO OBEY GOD’S COMMANDS*

Exo. 31:11, _“And the anointing oil, and sweet incense for the holy place: according to all that I have commanded thee shall they do”._

*God does not give you advice, but commands. Don’t let the men working with you turn divine commands into divine suggestions as if you are doing your own things.* If you allow this to happen, you will lose your favour with God. *The first thing that God demands in a leader is strength. Don’t be democratic in spiritual leadership.* Adam failed God because he did not lead his wife into the details of the commands that God gave him, to the extent that he hearkened to the voice of his wife against the commandment of God.

*PRAYER:* Lord, my heart is fixed on You, and I receive divine strength to provide effective leadership every time.

*7. THE DON’TS OF LEADERSHIP*

One of the don’ts of leadership is *“Don’t force yourself to do anything”.* It is important to note that everything of God has a flow and a rhythm. If it is not flowing, stop it, wait for the flow and follow the flow. Saul’s spirit must have disagreed with his mind, but he forced himself against the restraint of his spirit and made a costly mistake.

An important part of our walk with God is to understand that God will always fulfil promises to His people, but we must take time to watch for the cautions and the don’ts in following God because that is where contention starts between God and His people. Whenever God sends you His word, you are to pay attention to the don’ts that God attached to each of those promises. *When you abstain from the don’ts, you can be sure that the commitment of God will not cease from you.*

*8. AVOID TAKING FOOLISH RISKS*

*Jesus took practical steps to preserve his life. There is a time for confrontation and there is a time for relocation.* Jesus as a leader knew the difference between confrontation and relocation. When the Bible says ‘be wise as serpents and harmless as doves’, Jesus was calling us to know where we don’t need to operate conspicuously, but as harmless doves among other saints because we are in the midst of wolves (Matt. 10:16 ).

We should be careful of a life that loves to be seen. *When you love to show off as a Christian leader, you place yourself in a zone where the enemy can attack you cheaply.*

*PRAYER:* I intelligently submit to the leadership of the Holy Spirit to lead me to right actions and to avoid foolish risks in my life.

*3. A LEADER AS AN INTERCESSOR*

The intercessory role of a leader is one of the highest callings upon a leader. *It is a sin for leaders not to pray for their people. God will never bypass the responsible for assignment and divine information.* When a leader prays for his team, God communicates important information to help him/her steer the ship in righteousness and the enemy will not outwit them. Therefore, the following are binding truths:

* A father/mother must pray for his/her children
* Pastors must pray for their flock.
* Bosses must pray for their staff.
* The political leadership must pray for their nation.

*4. DON’T MAKE LIGHT OF THE SIN OF GOD’S PEOPLE*

Never make people feel good sinning. But also let them know that there is restoration in Christ. *As a leader, you are not their judge, but their mediator and intercessor.* After Moses rebuked the people, he returned to the Lord to intercede for them.

This is an aspect of the ministry of Moses that many have never seen. We’ve seen his anger, but his intercession is without comparison. Only Jesus surpassed him. *Do you return to God on behalf of those you have rebuked? Or do you only talk about them in ministers’ gathering?* Moses’ (and every spiritual leader) love for the people is seen in this act. He was willing to be separated from God to save them. *A leader is not the people’s judge, but their mediator and intercessor.*

*PRAYER:* Lord, I make a renewed commitment to uprightness in leadership and zero tolerance to sin around me.

*5. SAY NO TO COMFORT OUTSIDE OF DESTINY.* Exodus 2:21

Don’t become content outside of divine destiny. Don’t sign an accord with comfort against the will of God for you. *Destiny may look dangerous, but comfort against His will is lethal.* Know when and where is not your rest.

Micah 2:10 _“Arise ye, and depart; for this is not your rest: because it is polluted, it shall destroy you, even with a sore destruction.”_

*6. INTIMACY IS A REWARD FOR LOYALTY*

2 Samuel 15:31 (NKJV) _"Then someone told David, saying, “Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.” And David said, “O Lord, I pray, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness!”_

*Don’t bring just anybody into your circle of intimacy.* Let everyone in that circle know that intimacy is a reward for loyalty to you. *Never make the mistake of bringing an enemy into your camp.* Don’t be emotional about this issue. Many, through emotions, have opened their circle of intimacy to dangerous enemies.

Jesus had only three in his circle of intimacy – Peter, James and John. Moses had Aaron, Hur and Joshua. David had a few which included Ahithophel. Note that when a person who had been part of your circle of intimacy turns into an enemy or traitor, it can be very devastating if you don’t move fast. The only antidote is divine intervention through prayer, as David did.

Remember, it was Judas that betrayed Jesus – one of the twelve. *Be very sure you don’t leave a former intimate friend who has turned a traitor alone. Deal with it in prayer.* Never make the mistake of bringing an enemy into your camp.

*PRAYER:* Lord! I make a commitment never to settle for illegal comfort; guide my heart to keep the right people in my cycle of intimacy.

*LEADERSHIP REFLECTIONS (1)*
Isaiah 2:1-3, 1 Samuel 12:3-4

In these days when many people who have been referred to as leaders are falling short of basic ingredients of leadership like integrity and forthrightness, God is looking for a new generation of spiritual leaders who will be above the fray and exemplify the life of Christ to this world.

The instrument that will set the standard cannot afford to have a margin of error. I pray that you will be God’s man to lead your world anywhere you find yourself. This month we will be considering some reflections on leadership.

*1. MORAL AUTHORITY*

Moral authority is the power behind the life and ministry of an effective leader. You cannot say you are the leader of a group that you have not paid the price to lead. People are watching you more closely than you think. You must be ready to ask your people the same questions of integrity that Prophet Samuel asked.

Don’t ever let your gifting take you to a level or place that your life and character cannot keep you! Leaders do not qualify to lead their people if their personal integrity is questionable.

*2. LEADERS AND DECISION MAKING. 1 Samuel 14:24-28.*

A leader must make good decisions. Saul called for a fast on a day of battle. This was wrong. To make consistently good decisions, not an occasional good decision, is the hallmark of powerful spiritual leadership. In fact, a clock that has stopped working would still be correct twice a day. Make sure you are distinguishing yourself with good decision-making skills. The hallmark of powerful spiritual leadership is making consistently good decisions.

*PRAYER:* Lord, I submit myself to Your will and Your ways; I receive grace to keep exemplifying the life of Christ to the world.

*TOPIC: AVOID THE ARRIVAL MINDSET*
Philippians 3:13

*Don’t leave those things that make you attractive to God.* The mistake that most people make is that as soon as they begin to see the hand of God in their lives, they start moving away from what brought that divine commitment. *Avoid the celebration and arrival mindset.*

Peradventure you usually deposit seven hours every weekend in intimacy and fellowship with God; you study the word of God and pray. The fruits of that have begun to show and now you cannot even get one hour to pray or study the word. That is a dangerous place to be. Never lose the things that make you attractive to God for any reason.

*Your intimacy with the Lord makes you attractive to God, don’t leave it.* It is out of intimacy that we have service that is acceptable. Are you a Christian that is satisfied with instruction-based relationship with God or with face to face relationship with Him? God is looking for face to face relationship with Himself. We are sons, not servants. We are not strangers, we are the children of the Father and we must never be satisfied until we have fellowshipped with Him.

Don’t have a celebration or arrival mindset. You know that is part of the spirit of the land in our country, Nigeria. A man is just coming up in life; he made a few achievements in career or in politics and the next thing is to give him a chieftaincy title. Don’t allow that spirit to come into the church. Apostle Paul said, “…forgetting those things that are behind, and reaching forth unto those things that are before.”


*PRAYER:* I will not lose the things that make me attractive to God. Amen.

*TOPIC: REMEMBER YOUR FIRST LOVE*
Revelation 2:1-7; Jeremiah 2:1-3

*THE FIRST LOVE, according to Revelation 2, produces the first works.* Compare your present works with your first works. Jesus said, “…do the first works.”

When people begin to mature, they tend to get familiar with the one they are in a relationship with. You must run away from the danger of familiarity. *Familiarity produces disrespect and disrespect will lead you to take someone for granted, leading to assumption which eventually leads to carelessness. Don’t be a Christian that takes God for granted.* To assume upon God is what makes some Christians to speak when God has not spoken. When you assume on God, it leads to carelessness. David said in Psalm 19:13, “Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sin; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.” *Presumption is a child of familiarity.*

When you look at Saul, the first king of Israel, it was first love issue that caused him to lose the commitment of heaven. *When your first-love-season was upon you, every verse of the Bible was sweet.* Now, you’ve become a 'favourite-scripture' person; you don’t want to hear some preaching. When we got born again, every message was okay, there wasn’t one special message. But now, you are already losing your passion for the things of God. Before, your total dependence and commitment was to Jesus, but now some other things are competing with that. Then, you were always willing to take a risk for Jesus but now it is a different story entirely. *Go back to your first love. That is what sustains divine commitment to you.*

*PRAYER:* As many people that have left their first love, let them return Lord. Amen.

*TOPIC: PROTECT YOUR HEART*
Proverbs 4:23

*What has not entered your heart cannot enter your life.* Your heart is one of the gates to your life, therefore, you must do all within your power to protect what flows into your heart. If you allow pollution into your heart, your life will soon begin to show those fruits.

There are instances in life when God begins to show you those things He can’t work with in your life, things hindering Him. You must begin to make correct adjustments and allow whatever He is using to bring that change. Sometimes, He can use the system you are in to correct you. He may decide to use your boss, your colleagues or even your junior. *One prayer you must always pray is that God will show you things in your heart that are grieving Him.*

*You cannot be bigger than your heart under God. The size of a man before God is the size of his heart.* You remember the point at which God rejected Saul; the state of his heart was a major factor. In 1 Sam. 13:4, when God found David, He said to Prophet Samuel, “I have found a man after my own heart”. At another time in the house of Jesse when God came for his sons, the quality God was looking for was THE STATE OF THEIR HEART. 1 Sam. 16:7 says, “You look on the outward, I look at the heart”. *You cannot separate the heart of a man from what he can become under God. God looks at your heart.*

*PRAYER:* Lord, show me things in my heart that are grieving You. Amen.

*TOPIC: YOU MUST WALK THE ROAD*
2 Corinthians 11:25-28

*It is the road that makes the man, not the destination. A man that does not walk the road cannot arrive at the destination.* Most ministers don’t teach people and take them through the road God took them through. For example, a man that does thirty minutes service on Sunday because of his personal gain; was that the road that made him? He did not become what he became through thirty minutes Sunday service. These ministers are just cheating their members. Such congregations cannot do much for God in the days ahead. *It is not the destination that makes the man, it is the journey.*

*If ministers will preach the behind-the-scenes reality, it will produce a saner generation.* I have no problem with many ministers or the blessings and the things that God has given them, because a lot of genuine ministers actually deserve those things. However, it is wrong to preach your reward to the people you are training; it is your road that you should preach to them.

If you are going to become like a certain man, you will have to walk the same road that the man has walked. *It is not dressing like me that makes you function like me; it is walking the road that I have walked.* If a man has not walked a road, he has no path to leave for others to follow. *If you are seeking to be like somebody, find the path that the person has walked,* and you will see the path filled with these kinds of strange things, then you will realise your ignorance. For example, nobody can carry ministerial anointing by touching the clothes of the man of God. You carry such anointing by walking the road with him.

*TOPIC: BE INVOLVED IN RIGHT SERVICE*
Jeremiah 48:10

Be sure you are getting involved in right service. Don’t service the wrong things. *God is a God of excellence and order. He does not accept just anything. Serving God has principles, precepts and standard. Therefore, do not serve Him anyhow.* One of the first truths stated in the Bible is the standard of service that God accepts. God hates to be served anyhow. That was what differentiated Cain from Abel. God accepted Abel’s offering and rejected Cain’s because of the standard and attitude with which they came to God.

*You need to know that any service not up to divine standards incurs the wrath of God.* God loves us but He will never accept wrong and mediocre service from any man. God always wants the best. It is better not to serve God than to serve Him anyhow. God wants us to serve Him, but not by our own standard, not at our own time but His, not at our own convenience but at His demand. Bring excellence and honour into your service. *Any service that you are bringing to God, either spiritual or physical, must come with honour.*

*God does not accept careless attitude in service.* The two sons of Aaron understood that in a very costly way. They brought strange fire into His presence and He smote them. *God is a God of details and specifics. He gives details and specifics of how He wants men to serve Him. Don’t serve God carelessly.*

*TOPIC: DO NOT BOAST IN YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS*
2 Corinthians 12:9-10

*There is nothing a man has that he can make a boast of before God.* Be wary of the people in your assembly or your house that are trying to make you stronger than what God allows. There are many ministers that have made themselves stronger out of the purpose of God.

Paul said, “…I will rather glory in my infirmities…” The word glory means boast. Paul said he would rather boast in his infirmities. This shows that it is a man talking here. Apart from Moses in the Old Testament, there was no other human being that God created with the kind of mind that Paul had. In the creation of the human race, there is no one like Moses and Paul that stood out with the kind of mind that God gave them. I have read the Pentateuch (the first five books of the Old Testament written by Moses), and going through them, I saw a great mind. The mind of Moses had such a great capacity!

Of all the men that God made, when it comes to understanding of covenant, Abraham and David stood out. They had hearts that were different. They have become a shadow for some of us today, and we have to identify what to study in their lives, their heart and attention to details. Therefore, one cannot say that Paul was a foolish man. *He said, “I will rather glory in my infirmities that the power of Christ may rest upon me”. If you want the power of Christ to rest upon you, that is the key.*

*FELLOWSHIP WITH THE AUTHOR OF THE BIBLE* Psalms 42:1; 38:10.

*This is one of the steps to becoming stronger under God - when you begin to consider and put your fellowship with God above everything else.* David was a man that considered his relationship with God above and ahead of other things in his life (Psa. 122:1). He had a longing for God and that was something God took notice of in his life. *As a believer, you must have a personal relationship with the author of the Bible.*

*Do you see spiritual activities such as prayers as a burden or as an opportunity granted you to fellowship with your Father?* Do you see your ‘Quiet Time’ as a special time to appear before the Father, not as a routine you have to perform? Are you always willing and eager to fellowship with the Father? You know, God can always spot the difference between these two attitudes. This is the reason two Christians can be doing the same things and having varying experiences and results.

You will have to create time for fellowship with the Lord. It might be costly and demanding on your flesh, but it is going to take you higher in the Spirit. I tell people that if there is a machine that is called ‘Quiet Time Doer’ and God allows it to work, I will buy more than one for myself. The truth is you can never find that kind of machine. No matter how busy you are, you will have to find time to fellowship with Him, and to get that time, you will pay for it in your flesh.

*TITLE: PASS THE TEST OF FAITHFULNESS*
Luke 16:10-12

*There are three tests to pass the test of faithfulness.* They are as follows: *the test of little things, the test of faithfulness in unrighteous mammon (monetary issues), and the test of faithfulness in another man’s thing.* For you to pass the test of faithfulness to God, you will need to be proven through these three things.

How committed to God will you be now in handling small assignments? They say everyone should go for evangelism, you say you don’t have time, but you are trusting God to be a great evangelist that will be preaching in crusades where thousands are gathered. God does not operate His kingdom that way. Everyone God placed great anointing on passed the test of faithfulness in small things.

When I entered into ministry, I mean church work. I didn’t start with a big congregation, but I gave my best to the work. The same way I preached twenty years ago is the same way I preach now with no difference in seriousness and estimation. Don’t be a minister that the crowd moves.

Secondly, you must prove faithful in the unrighteous mammon, i.e., monetary issues. You will be tested here by God. Make sure you rise above mammon. The third one is that you must prove faithful in another man’s thing. This is one of the laws of greatness. To be great, you must make another man great. If you do not help another to succeed, it is going to be difficult to expect people to help you succeed. God will not hand over to you your own things until you pass these tests.

*Topic: MAKE OBEDIENCE TO GOD YOUR PRIORITY*
1 Samuel 15:22; Isaiah 1:19.

*When you make obedience to God your priority, you will make it.* Don’t make success your priority. What men define as success is different from God’s. God rates a man based on how well he is doing or has done what He tells him or told him to do. The bottom line of quarrel between God and His people is divine instructions. Instruction is what keeps us within the divine structure where our protection and prosperity is secured.

*Whenever you receive an instruction from the Lord, always commit yourself to obey.* Delayed obedience usually becomes outright and eventual disobedience to God. Disobedience to divine instruction was what caused Adam and Eve to lose their place in the Garden of Eden. Every tragedy and problem in most people’s lives today is not just the devil but as a result of one instruction or the other that was disobeyed, ignored, neglected, or misunderstood.

*The greatest blessings from God come when you obey divine instruction.* Your provision for life and destiny are in the place of your obedience. God always rewards obedience to His instruction. If you study the Bible very well, everyone that crossed the path of God without redemption, crossed it through disobedience to divine instructions. God took the kingdom from Saul because of that. That was what cost Eli his life and his two sons. Both of them died on the same day. You must understand that divine instructions are not to be taken lightly.

TOPIC: PRESERVE YOUR CONSECRATION
Judges 13:6-7, Numbers 6:1-5

Make sure you preserve your consecration. If you will sustain divine commitment, it is not negotiable for you to keep your consecration. If the devil can break your consecration, he will take you away from everything God has for you.

Years ago, when we were going to the village as missionaries, I met a man who had been in the ministry since 1947, a very old illiterate man. He calls me ‘teacher’ and he told me one day, “Teacher, I saw a vision in which a sword has been placed in your hands, but be careful of women. If you can keep yourself from women, you would make it”. He said that all his friends that they started together, it was women that brought them down. So, I told him I would take note of that. I kept myself from women and I am still going to do it.

Put laws and restrictions around your life to preserve your consecration. As a principle, I don’t do counselling in my office as a minister of the gospel. I do it in an open space where everybody will see what is going on. I don’t carry women in my car except for my wife and daughter. If I am counselling a woman and she gets on sexual matters, I transfer to my wife immediately. We sit side by side in counselling. Learn wisdom by instruction; do not learn by experience when it concerns scandal. Learn to build hedges around yourself.

PRAYER: Father, I pray today that you will help me to preserve my consecration no matter what. Amen.

*TOPIC: SETTING THE RIGHT STANDARDS*
2 Timothy 2:15-19

Setting the right standards is one of the major things God expects right leadership to put in place. *As a minister of the gospel, God expects you to set the right standards in your church.* It may drive a number of people away but at the same time, it will draw the right men to you and your church. Weak people fight against right standards but better people embrace them. *Truth produces better people and compromise produces weaker people.* Don’t raise an assembly full of weak people because you are lowering standards for them.

The foundation of the Lord stands sure. God doesn’t change. Malachi 3:6, “I am the Lord I change not”. *The standard of God is the truth and the truth is the word of God. Don’t change it.* Don’t be a 'favourite-scripture' generation that only wants to hear what is sweet. We are in a generation where what judges what is right or wrong for many people, is not what God said but who has done it or who it has been done to, and that is dangerous. The implication of such a viewpoint is that as a person, if somebody you like does something bad, you would not see it as too bad but as just a mistake, but if it is somebody that you do not like that does the same thing, it becomes a sin. *Sin is sin no matter who commits it.*

Don’t be a believer that operates with double standards. God doesn’t change His stand. He always stands with the truth. John 8:31-32.

*PRAYER:* I will not trade the commitment of God for something ephemeral. Amen.

*TOPIC: TRUTH IS WHAT BINDS US TOGETHER - John 8:45-46*

*Never allow anybody to deceive you that it is love that binds us together.* It is truth that binds us together. Once you accept that it is love that binds us together, you will cohabit with evil and sacrifice the Bible. Truth does not change. Truth is truth everywhere. When the Bible says, “Thou shall not commit adultery”, that is the truth from Europe to America to Africa. *Geography or environmental condition does not change the truth.*

For example, there are cultures that may not see anything wrong in dating but the Bible does not support dating for Christians. So, when you align with the Bible on that, you are aligning with the truth. *No matter who is practising something, if that thing is not the truth, then it is not the truth.* The truth is what binds us together.

If your friend crosses the line of truth by sinning or doing something against the truth, and you cross the line of truth to fellowship with him, that’s called compromise and that will cause you to lose His commitment. *To sustain divine commitment in your life, your commitment to the truth must be unquestionable and resolute.*

*The test of the truth is the word of God and not the majority.* There will be many times that the majority will be wrong. Don’t sacrifice divine instruction because you want to please men. That was the problem of the younger prophet in 1 Kings Chapter 13 that caused him to lose his life and destiny.

PRAYER: Lord help me to stay with the truth at all times in Jesus name. Amen.

*TOPIC: PLEASING GOD MAY MAKE YOU UNPOPULAR*
John 8:29

*I tell people that you cannot be both popular and powerful.* There are instances that staying with the truth and speaking the truth will draw men away from you. You don’t have to be bothered. *As a minister, God does not judge how successful your ministry is by the number of people that attend your church but by how obedient you are to His will and instructions.*

You will face this battle as a minister of the gospel - the battle between popularity and power. *You cannot be popular and powerful at the same time. You must be ready to be God-pleaser and not men-pleaser.* The temptation will come. The devil will tell you your own is becoming too much; your messages are too hard and people won’t come. *Never allow the devil to take you on the road of compromise.*

*Stay with the truth no matter the pressure. God commits to the truth. If He sent you, then stay true to Him.* There is no envelope that changes the address on the way. A letter does not change itself from the content the writer puts inside it. Not everyone that started with His commitment sustained it to the end, and it is on this point where there is a contest between popularity with men and power with God that many fail. *It is at this point of choosing to please men over pleasing God that makes a true prophet of God become a soothsayer, and he loses divine commitment.*

*PRAYER:* I will not be a man-pleaser but God-pleaser in Jesus name. Amen.

*TOPIC: PLEASING GOD VERSUS PLEASING MAN*
John 8:29; Matthew 3:17

The scriptures above reveal to us, *two distinct experiences you can have with the Father after salvation. The first experience is when the Father loves you while the second experience is when you move from the Father loving you to you pleasing the Father.* The second experience should be your vision for your Christian life and journey. You must not stop until this is the declaration of the Father over you. It is His desire for every one of His children, no matter where you have been or are coming from. The Father must be able to say, “This is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased”. If He cannot say that over you for any reason, you are wasting the blood of Jesus.

*One of the things that sustain divine commitment over our lives is pleasing the Father.* As a believer, decide that no matter what it is going to cost, you will always please God. Decide to please God above your wife, family, interests, and many others. You will never know any serious battle until you get to that bridge. Everyone will face this battle at one point or the other. You must determine to pass when you get there. It is a major key to sustaining divine commitment.

*Your highest priority and goal as a believer must be to please the Father not men. It will attract hatred and oppositions from men when you do so but at the end, you will be approved and justified by God.*

Galatians 4:1-4

We have established that God anoints sonship, divine choice, submission, and divine process. *The next thing God anoints is training. Training tells you the difference between and among things.* It tells what you should do and what you should not do. Training stretches you; it brings out the best in you. Training makes demands on you, especially your time. It requires your interest, availability, and cooperation.

*Most people like someone who will be soft on them instead of training them.* Do you know there are many footballers who could have been great but they didn’t like their coaches? They didn’t like the training schedule their coaches drew; they chose what they liked.

*Are you going through some training now? Go through it properly.* Wicked men will train you by hardness. Don’t mind the hardness. You may be under a boss who deducts your salary if you are supposed to come to work by 7:30 am but you come by 7:31 am. He is your trainer! You may not like him now, but you will appreciate the values he is trying to put in you later in life.

It could be that God knows that the next stage that you are going in life requires a higher measure of excellence and that is what He is using your present ‘no-mercy’ boss to put in your life. Stop fighting him; stop taking his name to prayer meetings. That man is the best trainer in your life now. Let him train you to be an excellent man. *Go through your training and be processed into the greatness God has for you.*

*TOPIC: GOD ANOINTS DIVINE PROCESS*
Acts 13:13; Acts 16:1-3

The fourth thing God anoints is Divine Process. *God is a God of process - the process to make you into the product that God wants you to be. Take note of these four ‘P’s - Person, Process, Pace and Product.* When He called you, He knew what He wanted to make you become. He knows the exact thing He wants you to become.

The process to make a doctor out of somebody, for instance, is going to be different from the process to make a pastor out of another. Therefore, stop looking at another person and being jealous of another person’s post because *God is making different products out of us; He is the Maker.*

*There are many people that have jumped out of the process of God.* When Paul received the apostolic calling, John Mark’s mother was the Mary in whose house they were praying and his uncle was Barnabas, the apostle. You can’t have a better heritage! They chose him to follow Barnabas and Paul as a minister because God had an apostolic destiny for him, but when he entered the process, he went back.

In Acts 16:3, Paul chose Timothy to go with him. He became an apostle with Paul and Silvanus. In 2 Timothy 4:11, Paul told Timothy to bring John Mark when coming because he was profitable to him for the ministry. The word ‘ministry’ there is deaconship. A man that God designed to finish ministry as an apostle ended up as a deacon because he couldn’t go through the process.

*PRAYER:* Lord, help me not to abort God’s process for me. I will wait until You complete Your works in me. Amen

*TOPIC: GOD ANOINTS SUBMISSION*
Matthew 26:36-46

We have seen two of the things God anoints sonship and divine choice. *Another thing God anoints is submission. The anointing comes on submission.* For a family to be united, there must be a family vision to which all must submit.

If somebody says you should do something that you like to do, that’s *agreement.* But if somebody says you should do something that you don’t like to do but which is of God, and you agree to do it, that is *submission.*

*Submission is higher than agreement because submission has to do with the will of God and agreement has to do with the will of man.* If I want to travel and you want to travel as well, and I say, “Can we go together in my car?” If you say, “Yes sir, I already want to go”, that is agreement. But if you don’t want to travel, but I say the Holy Spirit says you should get dressed and travel with me now; if you say, “I’m so tired but I will dress up now and go with you”, that is submission.

The battle to save humanity was won in the Garden of Gethsemane when Jesus submitted his will to the Father. He prayed to the Father three times, “if it be possible, let this cup pass from me:” and on the three occasions, added “not as I will but as thou wilt.” *That was where the devil was defeated totally. The final victory you will gain over the devil is the victory of submitting your will to the will of God.*

*PRAYER:* Lord, I receive grace to always walk in correct submission at all times in Jesus name. Amen!

*TOPIC: GOD ANOINTS DIVINE CHOICE (4)*
Acts 6:1-7

God anoints His choice. *In fact, when we argue against the choice of God, we are calling the wisdom of God to question.* God chooses some people to stand in some offices and we must respond to them.

In Acts 6, the Bible says, _“Look ye out among yourself seven men of honest report … whom we may put over this matter”_ and they brought them before the apostles. Because they were chosen, when the apostles laid their hands upon them, the Bible says the Holy Ghost came upon them. Out of these seven that were chosen in Acts 6, one of them was Stephen who operated in the ministry of an apostle for a brief period. Another was Philip who later ended up in the office of an evangelist.

There was one man, Nicolas, a proselyte from Antioch, who overstepped the boundary that God gave him. God did not choose him to be more than a deacon, but he promoted himself to be a teacher. He was the founder of the cult called the Nicolaitans in the book of Revelation. God didn’t choose him to be a teacher; He chose him to be a deacon.

There can be seven people who went to school together and God may have different roles for each of them in life. Some may make their marks in life in the world of academics, some in the world of business, some in the world of politics and some in the world of gospel ministry. *God anoints His choice; He does not anoint any man’s application.*

*PRAYER:* Lord, I will not operate beyond my divine choice, I will remain and function in the field God has chosen for me and be a blessing there. Amen.

TOPIC: GOD ANOINTS DIVINE CHOICE (2).
Psalm 133:1-2; Isaiah 45:1-3.

Who is the chosen of God? The man God anoints, whether in the secular setting or spiritual setting. God anoints the chosen.

As wonderful as David was, he was not chosen to build God’s house. He prepared for it, but he was not chosen to build it. Solomon had not done anything yet and he was chosen. It was easy for him to accomplish it because he was chosen. Many times, when people try to do what God has not chosen them to do, they die trying. If you see somebody chosen to do something that you are not chosen to do, support him with prayer and any help you can render. God will bless you for it. You may be better than the choice of God, it is not important. Ask God why He chose him, not the person.

People have tried to get me to do things God has not chosen me to do over the years, but I refused. I have seen people lose their position in God trying to do what they are not chosen to do. David would have died trying to build the temple. He had the desire for it. He did not want to live in a beautiful palace while the ark of God continued staying in an ordinary tent. David prepared, but he was not chosen.

You may have the materials, but you may not be chosen to do it. The Pharisees asked Jesus where He got His learning. He didn’t go to their school, but He was chosen to be the Messiah.

PRAYER: Lord, help me not to outshoot my measure in divine choice, I will enjoy and stay within my measure in Jesus name. Amen

*TOPIC: GOD ANOINTS DIVINE CHOICE (1).*
Numbers 16:1-6.

*This is the second thing God anoints; divine choice.* God can choose the youngest brother of three children (of the same father and mother) to be a pastor, and require that the eldest attends his church.

There are families that after the father died, the eldest brother stopped going to school and went to work so that his younger ones could go to school. He is the one that carries the authority of the father not just because he is the eldest but because he is the one who made the sacrifice. Sometimes, it may not be the eldest that makes the sacrifice for the family. It could even be the youngest in a different respect. God anoints divine choice.

In different settings, you need to understand who the chosen is. In the family, God has chosen the husband to be the head and not the wife. A wise woman will allow the husband to be the head; she will support him because the anointing will flow from the head down. It is satanic anointing that flows from down up. Divine anointing flows from the head down.

In Numbers 16, there was a rebellion. Some people revolted against Aaron and Moses and said they too were holy and chosen of God and asked why Moses and Aaron should be lifting themselves over the congregation. Moses said, “What is Aaron that you are going up against him?” And in Numbers 17, God came to show His choice. Always understand this: if you are not chosen for something, don’t struggle for it.


*PRAYER:* Lord, help me to respect divine choice, I will not violate the protocol around divine choice in Jesus name. Amen

*TOPIC: SERVING IN THE SPIRIT OF A SON (3)*
Philippians 2:6-11

In the last two days, our focus has been on serving in the spirit of a son. *Remember, sonship is the heart of the Kingdom.* Jesus didn’t come as God; He came as the son of the Father. He said, “I and my father are one," but he also said that the Father is greater than Him.

Those who are married and have children are praying for the day that their sons will become true sons that they can discuss and share with, how to govern the family. *God is looking for the day you will rise as a son.* He was looking for a son in the house of Jesse, but David was the only one that had proved sonship to the father.

David’s brothers didn’t want to do the work that was in the heart of the father, which was taking care of the sheep, but they were quick to bring themselves forward to be the next king just because they came from the chosen family line. *When God was going to anoint the king, He anointed the one that was doing the sonship duties in the father’s house.*

Saul became king because he obeyed the instructions of his father. He could have refused to go on that errand and asked his father to send the houseboy, but he went out as a son. He didn’t return from that errand as just a son; he came back as the king of the land. *Sons don’t just hear a message in church, they receive the spirit; they receive the anointing. God is building sons. He anoints sonship.*

*PRAYER:* Lord, help me to be a true son to my heavenly father and the kingdom father in Jesus name. Amen.

*TOPIC: SERVING IN THE SPIRIT OF A SON (2)*
Hebrews 5:5-9

*When you refuse to serve as a son, you are not cheating anybody but yourself and somebody that may need what you should have received before meeting you.* My son needed prayer stamina of nine hours non-stop from me. If I had been doing my prayer labour as a servant, I would have failed my son when he needed my prayer the most.

*God looks for sonship.* How much of a son are you? *The degree of sonship you have is the degree of inheritance that you can have in the Kingdom.* God told me something and I have said it many times over since then. He said, “This kingdom is not a kingdom of achievements; *it is a kingdom of inheritances”. It is a family. Everybody has a portion.*

*When you become born again, there is a registered portion that Jesus has paid for but whether you will receive it or not will be determined by your degree of sonship.* When you find whom God says you should settle with and where, then be a son there. Don’t serve at your place of work as a servant who is looking for his own interest.

*Serve as a son, and then you will be noticed.* Everywhere Jesus went, He functioned as a son. Don’t go to work as a servant; go as a son. Sons are made, servants are used. Don’t be used and dumped. *Nobody can dump a son because the process of serving as a son makes him somebody that can own his own things whether in the spirit or in the physical.*

*PRAYER:* Lord, help me not to spare myself of the kingdom processes that are required for my destiny fulfilment. Amen

*TOPIC: SERVING IN THE SPIRIT OF A SON (1)*
Hebrews 3:1-6

Our text today talks of two kinds of faithfulness: the faithfulness of the Son and the faithfulness of the servant. There is significant difference between the two levels of faithfulness: a servant works for what he can get out of it, but a son works because it belongs to him.

When you attend prayer meeting in church, be there as a son. The day that you are supposed to pray for your own child, you will discover that God has already supplied the stamina you need. I told my associate pastors whose branches have ongoing church building projects that they could build it under my leadership. I would support it while they provide leadership on site. Alternatively, they could leave the work for me to do but if they shoulder that kind of responsibility as associate pastors, an increased level of faith and wisdom would come into their spirit from that project that would be useful when building their own houses.

I will never forget when my son was three months old and I had to pray for him at the hospital for nine hours non-stop to snatch him from the jaws of the devil. If I had failed with going to the mountaintop years ago, three days non-stop every month, I would not have been able to do that. Those years, some of our members didn’t like me. They would ask me to leave them alone. But many of them today are pastors and pastors’ wives in different parts of the world. What they received while serving as sons that time is now their own portion.

*PRAYER:* Lord, help me not to fail those that will need what I’m to become in my sonship process in Jesus name. Amen

*TOPIC: PASSING THE TEST OF SONSHIP (2)*
John 13:3-5

Yesterday, we saw how Jesus exemplified sonship, Acts 13:33 says when Jesus rose from the dead, and God brought Him alive again from the world of the dead, He said, “Thou art my son, this day have I begotten thee”. What does that tell us today? *One question everyone must ask is: What must I die to, to become a son?*

Jesus gave us a picture of sonship in John 13:4. The Bible says after the supper was over, Jesus took off his outer garments in order to serve his disciples. The outer garments represent everything in our lives that men can respond to positively.

Men can praise your age, status, accomplishments, etc., which are all outer garments. But if you remove your age, status, and achievements, do you have anything else to bless people? If you don’t have anything else to bless people, you don’t have the anointing. *You must find out what you must die to in order to become a son in the Kingdom.* You may be a church member and not become a son till you meet Jesus Christ.

This is the problem in the body of Christ today. We have people that are not sons that are trying to function in positions meant for sons. That is why the anointing is missing in many assemblies. *I’m not talking of oratory but the authentic anointing-* the life changing power of God that causes someone to hear the message once and something changes inside him.

*The person ministering does not have to be wearing expensive clothes or speaking Queen’s English but once he has the anointing on him because he’s a son, the Kingdom will advance in his hand.*

*PRAYER:* Lord, help me to embrace the kingdom fathering process that will qualify me for sonship portions in Jesus name. Amen

*TOPIC: PASSING THE TEST OF SONSHIP (1)*
1 Samuel 16:11-13

*Every anointing signifies the successful completion of a phase in God’s program for you. Every time God anointed people in the Bible, it was a mark of a successfully concluded phase.* If it was not successfully finished, God would not anoint the person even though men might promote him. God had rejected the brothers of David; it was Goliath that revealed that they were not anointed. “If you have not passed the test of God, don’t let men promote you!” You will meet greedy pastors that are looking for a large congregation or people to follow them. *Don’t let them promote you emotionally. If you have not passed the test of God, and you know it, God knows it and the devil knows it, a Goliath will reveal it one day.*

God always asks this question: “ARE YOU A SON?” I also ask you, “Have you become a son?” After all, the so-called soldiers went into hiding for the fear of Goliath, it was David, a shepherd boy that confronted him. Saul didn’t ask which military school David attended, Saul asked for whose son David was. *The kingdom of God rests on sonship and not on title; the glory of God rests on sonship.*

The first thirty years of Jesus’ life was a test of his sonship under a physical man - Joseph the carpenter. God the Son stayed in the house of two human beings that He created, and He served as a son. He did not quarrel with Joseph. He was the son of man and he passed the first test.

*PRAYER:* Lord, as You process me for the throne, help me to pass the test of sonship in Jesus’ name. Amen.
