*TOPIC: HIS PROMISE - AN ANCHOR FOR MY SOUL*
Hebrews 6:19

You have three parts:

1. Your spirit,
2. Your soul and
3. Your body.

Your body deals with physical evidence of the circumstances, feelings, and symptoms. Feelings and symptoms change all the time. It shifts depending on so many factors. However, your spirit, when born-again, deals with God and God is absolute, He is constant; He never changes.

What will determine whether or not you make is your soul. Your soul deals with facts, figures and information. For example, in times of sickness, as your body supplies information about the sickness, you feel the pain and circumstance getting worse. *Your soul needs a steady ground to hold it in place. That is what the word of God supplies. The promises of God provide an anchor for your soul. It supplies hope when your body is getting contrary information to the promises of God.*

_“…By the stripes of Jesus, you are healed”_ (Isa. 53:5)

This is an anchor for your soul in times of sickness. It produces hope in your soul and agrees with your born-again spirit that you are healed. *According to that scripture, you are not the sick trying to regain his healing; rather you are the healed one that the devil is attempting to rob of his health.* Without God’s promise and that information in your soul, you will have nothing to hold on to and your soul will automatically agree with the sickness in your body, causing the sickness to dominate you.

*PRAYER:* Father, Your word is an anchor for my soul. Your promise gives me hope against contrary natural circumstances. I agree with Your Word, I am healed in Jesus’ name.

*TOPIC: UNDERSTANDING YOUR SPIRIT MAN*
Job 32:8, Hebrews 4:12

*This month, we will be looking at HOW TO PROFIT BY THE SPIRIT.* Man is a spirit, he has a soul and lives in a body. God has plans and purposes for you and He wants to communicate them to you. *God speaks by His Spirit to man’s regenerated spirit, that is, your spirit man.* Your spirit man communicates with your mind to relay what the Holy Spirit is saying so you can apply it to your practical life.

Many people do not know when their spirit man is trying to contact them with a message from God and thereby fall short of kingdom experiences. Accidents, losses and failures will cease if you would master how your spirit man contacts you. *Your spirit man can be years ahead of your mind in information gathering because the Bible says the Holy Spirit will show you things to come.*

*You can live in such a way that you are not in the dark about what is happening in your life or around you.* You can know things two years before they happen by walking in the spirit. The spirit man, though born again, may remain a captive. Not a captive of the devil this time, but a captive of strange thought patterns, a captive of an unrenewed mind, a captive of the undisciplined body.

I want you to pay attention this month and learn how to train your spirit man, renew your mind, discipline your body, operate in the life of God that is in you as a believer and fulfil your God-given dreams in life. A lot of Christians don’t know how to relate with their spirit but *I pray for you that at the end of this month, you will profit from following your regenerated spirit in Jesus name, amen.*

*PRAYER:* Lord, I receive divine teachings this month on how to maximise and train my spirit man for effective living on the earth in Jesus name. Amen!

*TOPIC: DIVINE COMMUNICATIONS THROUGH CONSTRAINTS AND RESTRAINTS*
Text - Job 32:18-20, Acts 16:7

You can, with the help of the Holy Spirit, find out ways by which your spirit man gets across to you. Sometimes, the Bible refers to your spirit man as the inward man. If you can understand him, he will help you and bail you out of troubles because he is the one that the Holy Spirit indwells and relates with.

*How do you know that you should or should not do something? There is either a CONSTRAINT or RESTRAINT on the inside of you.* It could be the spirit constraining you to go or the spirit restraining you from going. Constraint means to make somebody do something by force or by strong persuasion - something that limits one’s freedom of action. *CONSTRAINT* is a strong inner pressure to go ahead. Some versions of the Bible render constraint as compulsion, therefore it is possible for your spirit man to compel you to do something. *RESTRAINT* is an equally strong inner pressure not to go ahead.

To be constrained is likened to a man under pressure to go to the toilet, he is only relieved after answering the call of nature. This is the same way the spirit constrains you. You are only refreshed if you do what the spirit constrains you to do. It is as if you want to sit on a particular chair and you get a restriction or restraint in your heart as regards sitting on the chair. If you ignore that restraint in your heart and you sit on the chair, it may break. If the broken chair doesn’t hurt you, it will take the mercy of God because God has given advance information. You are only refreshed if you do what the spirit constrains you to do. You are preserved when you refuse to do what He restrains you from doing.

*PRAYER:* Lord, I receive sensitivity to pick up divine constraints and restraints. I will be preserved by divine communications in Jesus name. Amen!

*TOPIC: PERCEPTION WILL MAKE YOU WISER BEFORE THE EVENT*
Job 33:1-4, 15, Acts 14:8-10, Mark 2:8

The word *“perceive”,* physically speaking, can apply to your sight. But we are not dealing with physical perception. In Acts 14:8-10, that man’s faith would have gone unnoticed if Paul had not perceived in his spirit and he would have left that meeting still crippled but Paul perceived and spoke the word that launched him unto his feet. To perceive is as if you enter into a room and somebody is hiding at the back of the door, but after some time, you begin to sense that somebody is there with you.

*The best way to deal with the spirit of lies is through perception.* In Acts 5, Ananias sold a parcel of land and kept the remaining money. *Sometimes when you perceive some things in the spirit, you will need to stir it up until you hit a gift of the word of knowledge to give full details.* Perception is not as detailed as a word of knowledge. It is just your spirit giving you warning signals so you can prepare for things ahead. *You don’t have to suffer accidents if you will just follow up on your perception and pray through on it. People suffer losses when they ignore divine signals.*

Some people say “we are wiser after the event”, but that is not God’s intention for a child of God. *The spirit inside you is to make you wiser before the event so you can handle it to the glory of God and for your good.* If you pick up a perception, follow it up and do something about it. *It is not a matter of being suspicious but rather having a holy perception about things.*

*PRAYER:* Lord, I will not be dull of divine perception. The eyes of my understanding are opened in Jesus name. Amen!

*TOPIC: DIVINE COMMUNICATIONS THROUGH ‘BEING GRIEVED’ AND REVELATION*
Acts 16:16-18, 1 Corinthians 2:9-12, Isaiah 64:4

*TO BE GRIEVED means to suddenly have a sinking sensation in the pit of your belly over a matter;* you lose all joy on the matter and an unexplainable sense of sorrow overpowers you concerning the matter. The fact that someone is talking religiously and quoting scriptures does not mean God is moving through him.

Paul was suddenly grieved in Acts 16. There was no way in the natural for Paul to discover this. They could have rationalized it that God had sent her. Many enter into alliance with occultic people or New Age movement by neglecting their spirits.

TO REVEAL means to allow to be made known. *REVELATION is like having a sensation like a light go up in your belly on an issue and you just suddenly see the thing in its true colour.* How are we going to discover hidden spirits? By revelation. A minister’s wife once told me about a lady that came to see her husband. Immediately she saw this lady, she had a revelation that the lady wanted to cause her husband to fall and she called her husband and told him. The moment you have a revelation about something, you should then handle it properly.

Jesus had known all along who would betray Him and He still went along with him. That is why the Bible says, _“A spiritual man judged all things yet he is judged of no man”_ because he’s flowing with everybody with revelation. Revelation is not something that happens for long. It just happens in a flash. *We have to be alert to our spirit man to be able to track it.*

*PRAYER:* Lord, I pray for the baptism of the spirit of wisdom and revelation, that the eyes of my understanding be enlightened in Jesus’ name. Amen.

*TOPIC: DIVINE COMMUNICATIONS THROUGH REST*
Micah 2:10, Colossians 3:15 (AMP), 2 Corinthians 2:12-13

This is one of the quickest ways to know if you are in the wrong place. *If your spirit is not at rest where you are, begin to ask questions about where you should go.* If there is no rest inside your spirit, run, because it will destroy you. There is a rest in your soul and spirit in form of peace; a state of quietness. *It is the rest in the spirit that determines where you should be.*

*When it comes to decision making, which choice gives you peace?* That’s the right thing one; but when there is unrest over a decision, check it and be sure. You may be confronted with a business proposition that will earn you billions, but if there is no peace within you, don’t follow it. *Let the peace of God rule in your heart.*

God does not expect you to disobey your spirit. He has several ways to get across to us. We don’t have to respond to every call. That something sounds right does not mean it is of God. *Check the peace and the rest inside your heart; how much rest do you have over the issue?* If somebody sends for you and says, “Come and visit me” and you suddenly lose your peace over it, don’t make the trip. When you see a man that follows the spirit, he is like a mad man to carnal people. *Remember, God leads us beside the still waters or waters of rest. Look out for REST and follow the REST in your heart.*

*PRAYER:* Lord, I open my spirit man to divine communications from now on, let the light of the Holy Spirit shine upon my spirit and let my spirit man come alive in Jesus’ name. Amen.

*TOPIC: HEART STIRRINGS (1)*
Acts 17:16

*It is high time you started studying how the Spirit of the Lord moves in you and with you.* Recall that man is a tripartite being, that is, essentially a spirit that has a soul and lives in a body.

*The born-again person now has a spirit that was made alive by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.* The spirit of the born-again person has the capacity and ability to receive divine communication from the Spirit of the Lord and one of the ways that the Holy Spirit speaks to a Christian is through heart stirrings. *A heart stirring is a divine move in your heart - an excitement, feeling all jumpy inside, a holy enthusiasm.* If you will receive all that God has for you as a Christian, you must understand this type of Holy Spirit communication to your spirit. *There is a stirring in your spirit that you must get, especially when you are to preach the gospel.*

We don’t have to force ourselves. We should allow God to do the stirring and if there is a stirring, just follow it. Many times, we miss it and we step back when he stirs up our mind to share something. A man of God once shared a testimony that he dreamt that somebody went to hell and he wept; God told him that when he opened the door for him to share the gospel with the man, the man of God allowed fear to deny him. *You may be the last chance that God has to get across to that person, when He moves on your heart, release the word.*

*PRAYER:* Lord, I release myself to Your leadership, deepen my sensitivity, stir my heart, morning, noon and night till I do all Thy bidding in Jesus name. Amen.

TOPIC: THE HUMAN CONSCIENCE IN SPIRITUAL OPERATIONS
1 Corinthians 10:27, 2 Corinthians 1:12

God has implanted a powerful tool; the conscience, into the spirit life of every man, whether born again or not. Simply put, the conscience is the voice of the human spirit and it exists in different people in various conditions. It is the ‘regulator’ within a man that helps him to distinguish between what is right or wrong.

The condition of a man’s conscience will greatly affect his ability to walk in the spirit. The witness of the conscience is the safest means of divine communication available to a man. However, when a man is not born again, his conscience is not a safe witness or guide. That is why the state of the conscience is crucial to a successful earthly life and Christian walk.

There are various conditions a man’s conscience can be in but before I mention them, let’s look at things that your conscience can determine. They include:

a. The clarity of divine guidance you will enjoy
b. The quality of peace you will enjoy
c. The purity of fellowship you will have
d. The strength of faith you will release
e. The level of sensitivity your heart will have towards God, sin, worldliness, etc. (John 16:7-11)

This means that you must take the condition of your conscience seriously if you are to operate safely and correctly in the spirit realm.

PRAYER: Dear Holy Spirit; my parakletos, please, help me to condition my conscience correctly so that I can walk safely and correctly in the spirit realm and in life. Amen

*TOPIC: CONDITIONS OF THE HUMAN CONSCIENCE*
Acts 2:37

*The condition in which a man’s conscience is will determine its effectiveness or reliability in receiving divine communication.* Therefore it is very critical for you to pay attention to the state or the condition of your conscience.

*Below are some positive and negative sides of the various conditions of a conscience:*

*a. Awakened versus defiled conscience* (Acts 2:37, Titus 1:15)

*b. Good versus dead conscience* (Acts 23:1, Hebrews 9:14b)

*c. Tender versus seared conscience* (1 Cor. 10:27-28, 1 Tim. 4:2)

*d. A conscience void of offence versus condemned conscience* (Acts 24:16, 1 John 3:20-21)

*e. Strong versus weak conscience* (1 Cor. 8:7, 10, 12)

Take some time to reflect, which side of the various conditions above describes the state of your conscience?

*If there is something wrong with your conscience, the voice of the spirit man will not be clear.* There is simply no way you can pick things from God if there is a problem with your conscience. If your conscience is faulty somewhere, whether you have a weak conscience or a condemned one, you can’t pick things well and that’s one of the areas where the enemy will concentrate his major attack.

When the Bible calls the devil the accuser of the brethren, he doesn’t accuse your ears, he accuses your conscience by going to slander you before God and comes to accuse your conscience. *Do everything to ensure your conscience is always under positive conditioning.*

*PRAYER:* Dear Holy Spirit, purge my conscience of every negative conditioning and help me to develop a positively conditioned conscience in Jesus name.

1 Corinthians 10:23-32, Hebrews 10:22

Yesterday, we saw the role of the devil as the accuser of brethren, he accuses your conscience on the issues in your past. *Most of the time, a lot of Christians carry a condemned conscience before God after the devil has spoken to them.* He tells you how bad you are; he reminds you of the sins you committed some time ago and you still feel the pain.

Some Christians undergo mental torture under the accusation of Satan. You are not to struggle against the sins of your past because God has washed them off. *You are to stand on the word of God and reject every remembrance of them.* You are not to struggle against it, that is the devil’s trick to imprison your conscience, which should not be the case.

*According to Hebrews 10:22, there is no way we can draw near to God in full assurance of faith until we wash ourselves of all evil conscience or evil consciousness.* You sprinkle your heart with the Word of God and the blood of Jesus. The word is pictured like water and the blood becomes the blood of sprinkling by exercising faith in what the blood of Jesus represents for you.

*When we become born again, we need to soak ourselves in the Word of God and be renewed in the spirit of our mind to know who we are in Christ Jesus.* When it dawns on you that you are a new man in Christ, you will carry yourself differently.

*PRAYER:* I declare, there is therefore now no condemnation to me in Christ Jesus, I walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Amen!

1 Corinthians 8:4-7

We continue from where we stopped yesterday. *There’s nothing as serious as having sound knowledge revealed to your heart.* When our ministry was still a missionary organization, there was a sister in our midst that said she would never eat meat from the Muslim festival, That was an offence to her. There are some of us Christians that some foods are offences to; not that when we eat them, they will offend our conscience but because of our consciousness to something evil, we open ourselves to demonic infiltration and attack.

At another point in our ministry outreaches, we killed a snake and brought it home. We had a brother in our midst who couldn’t stand our eating the snake because he thought in himself that if he ate the snake, it would become whole in him. He wasn’t wrong, but that was an offence to him. He had not gained the knowledge of the deliverance in Christ to cross that barrier in the spirit.

*There are some things we need to deal with and get out of our system as Christians; knowledge that we need to unlearn.* For example, it is true that if somebody is not born again and eats in the dream, this is a negative sign. However, if you are born again, the Bible says in 1 Corinthians 6:17, “But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit with Him”, and because of the deficiency of that revelation in such people’s lives, the devil then comes in and begins to afflict them with lies.

*PRAYER:* Lord, I receive sound knowledge and revelation of your word in my heart in Jesus name. Amen!

*TOPIC: DIFFERENT KINDS OF HUMAN SPIRIT*
Hebrews 5:14; Romans 6:13

There are different kinds of human spirit. Every kind of human spirit can be grouped into two broad categories – positive and negative. *Examples of the positive and alternate kinds of human spirit are as follows:*

a. Strong versus weak spirit
b. Healthy versus broken spirit
c. Trained versus sick spirit
d. Baby (immature) versus wrong spirit
e. Mature versus wounded spirit
f. Contrite versus perverted spirit

*As a child of God, you must pursue a trained spirit;* a trained spirit is one that combines all the attributes of other positive spirit types. A trained spirit is a spirit that has been exercised in the things of God to be able to pick divine signals. It can operate accurately in the spirit realm.

*In essence, you can train your spirit to pick every sign or signal from God.* This body is the house of that spirit. Just as you can build up this body, develop and train it, so also the spirit man can be trained; just as the body can be trained for sin, it can also be trained for righteousness.

*You can train your body to respond to good things. You can train your body to respond to the Word of God.* When somebody says a Christian is sick in the body, God’s viewpoint in heaven is that the Christian is healed because everyone that is born again is healed. But what happens is that when we were not born again, the body had been trained to respond to certain symptoms of sickness and anytime those stimuli come, the body still responds to them unless it is retrained.

*PRAYER:* Lord, I receive grace to pursue a trained spirit that picks divine signals and to retrain my body for righteousness. Amen!

*TOPIC: PURSUE HOLY GHOST MODULATED NATURE (1)*
Romans 6:13; I Timothy 4:7-8

*In the plan of salvation, the body is not saved; it is to be RETRAINED for righteousness.* You can train your body to act towards sickness as dead. At least, if somebody is dead, sickness cannot touch that person again. In like manner, *sin will not get a response in your body if you train your body to respond to the Word of God, the things of God, and righteousness.*

If you can train your body to respond at the spur of the moment when somebody asks what the time is, then you should be able to train your body to be holy and to respond to the fact that you are healed in Christ. *We must come to a place that we will train ourselves in the right things.*

Godliness is God-likeness and worldliness is world-likeness. Worldliness is not what you can see. Godliness and righteousness are two sides of the same coin. *Righteousness is the side that you turn to God, while godliness is the side you turn to men.* Nobody can see your righteousness, but they can see your godliness because your godliness is the physical manifestation of your righteousness.

*Train your body to cooperate with your spirit* because your spirit is born again and righteous; it doesn’t need to struggle to be righteous, it is already righteous. *But when the Bible says exercise yourself, it means training and disciplining your body to flow with the spirit man. It is a constant exercise.*

*PRAYER:* Lord, I ask that the Holy Spirit teach me ways to exercise, train and discipline my body to flow with my trained spirit man in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Yesterday, I shared on the critical need to retrain your body unto righteousness. *The truth is that some Christians have so trained themselves in the things of God that if they get into an environment that is full of sickness and infection, they will walk through it with nothing touching them.* This is because their bodies aren’t responding to it. Yet, it is possible for a born-again child of God with the Almighty Holy Spirit living inside him to contract sickness in that environment. This is because even though his spirit is alright, his body is responding to outside stimuli.

*Our bodies are supposed to be trained to respond to inner stimuli from the Holy Spirit.* Someone annoyed you and you want to say, “You are mad!” but something else within you says, “Just keep it cool” and you chose to keep it cool. Somebody says, “You can’t do like your father” and you answer, “Thank God, which of my fathers? There are two of them - the physical one and the heavenly One.” What will the heavenly One do?

*There is a war constantly going on between your flesh and your spirit, but the man that will gain victory in that war is the man that can live a triumphant victorious Christian life.* Many of us think what we allow our bodies to do will not affect our spiritual sensitivity; It will and *if you don’t put this body under subjection, it will make you spiritually insensitive.*

*PRAYER:* Lord, help me to keep away from my life things that can poison my spiritual sensitivity in Jesus name. Amen!

*TOPIC: SPEAKING IN TONGUES (1)*
1 Corinthians 14:2-15, Isaiah 28:11-12, John 16:15

Let me show you some things about speaking in tongues. There is more to speaking in tongues than just warming our spiritual engines in the morning. *When you spend time praying in the Spirit, it builds up your spirit man and gives you rest.* This rest is the indwelling presence of the Spirit of God and all that He brings.

All the blessings of the kingdom of God are in His possession. You can’t take it yourself, He has to show you. The things of the Father belonging to Jesus have been put in the custody of the Holy Spirit to be revealed in due season to the people of God. *Every believer ought then to find out what the Bible says about speaking in tongues in order to enjoy and live an effective Christian life.*

A lot of Christians have no rest and the Bible does not call sleep rest. *Biblical rest is energizing yourself with life by the power of the Holy Spirit.* The open door into all these blessings of the kingdom of God which are spiritual, is speaking in tongues. Don’t belittle it. You may cram the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, but there is refreshing only when you pray in tongues. *The seasons of refreshing that God talks about is on your inside and as you spend time praying in tongues, something bursts out of you.* You can thus keep having seasons of refreshing as you spend time praying in tongues in your closet. *When you are so tired and weary, just release yourself to speaking in tongues.*

*PRAYER:* Father, I thank you for the gift of the Holy Ghost. I receive upon myself again, a dose of refreshing as I pray now in the Holy Ghost.

*TOPIC: SCRIPTOQUINE AND SCRIPTOTHERAPY*
Matthew 9:36-38; Proverbs 17:22

Jesus looked at the multitude and saw them harassed without a shepherd. There were rich men amongst those people, there were also people who had everything going for them, yet Jesus saw them as scattered and harassed. Harassment is how you feel after four days of sleeplessness.

In other words, that is the condition of every man on the earth that is not born again. There are some people that are *born again,* but because they don’t get into the experience of baptism in the *Holy Spirit,* they feel harassed. Some are filled with the Holy Spirit, but because they are not taking advantage of what belongs to them in the *word of God,* they are still being harassed. Some are Christians and are falling sick, though the Bible says “the merry heart doeth good like medicine” (Pro. 17:12) and “the spirit of a man will bear up with his infirmity” (Pro. 18:14).

Many Christians are falling sick when there is *scriptoquine* for any kind of sickness. People are still going for psychotherapy where there is *scriptotherapy* and they are living like mere men subject to the same type of harassment that people who are not born again are vulnerable to.

Some people say, “The reason why I don’t like speaking in tongues is because it has just three syllables.” It is not the tongues that give you the rest, it is the presence of the Holy Spirit. *All that speaking in tongues will do is to exercise your spirit to flow with the Holy Spirit and link up with Him, and when your spirit is refreshed, it carries your body.*

*PRAYER:* Father, thank You for providing healing and health for me. I lay hold on Your provisions for my perfect health and healing as I pray in the Holy Ghost today.

*TOPIC: DEALING WITH THE BODY AND SOUL TO DEVELOP THE SPIRIT MAN (1)*
1 Corinthians 9:24-27; Romans 6:16-19, 12:1

*If you don’t put your body under, you are going to be in trouble and you are going to suffer for it.* The Bible acknowledges the negative power that lies in the flesh of man, but the Bible does not leave us under bondage to that power. It tells us what to do to walk free of that power and dominate it. *You can come to a place where you can train yourself to pick signals from heaven very clearly.* Most of the time, the problem is always with the receiver. *God is always speaking but the ‘receiver set’ inside of the believer may be faulty.*

Some people think if you fast to the extent that you subject the body to the worst kind of distress and punishment, you will become spiritual. No! The Bible says that kind of religion only gives us a special way of being body conscious: taste not, touch not. Those kinds of things are a carnal way of behaving, they are not holiness. It is because of sin consciousness in people that are trying to be holy.

Holiness, on the other hand, is a natural outflow of a man that understands righteousness. *Holiness is a physical thing and righteousness is a spiritual thing.* The body is an information collecting vessel through the senses. *All the information collecting points are what God says you should submit.* The body was designed by God originally to cooperate with the spirit of man. Sin came in and things changed. That is why the Bible says in Romans 6 that we should yield our body unto the Lord.

*PRAYER:* Father, I make a fresh commitment today to yield ALL my members to You. Help me by Your Spirit to remain true to this commitment in Jesus Name.

*TOPIC: DEALING WITH THE BODY AND SOUL TO DEVELOP THE SPIRIT MAN (2)*
Hebrews 10:5, 1 Corinthians 9:26-27

We continue from where we stopped yesterday. *We are stewards of our body.* Demons are looking for bodies to inhabit because they need a vehicle to manifest their worst characteristics. That is why the Holy Spirit needs your body. If the devil can get into the body of a human being and that man yields his body to him, that man becomes a vehicle of destruction. That was what happened in Genesis 6 where the Bible says men yielded themselves so much to the devil.

The Lord’s body was on the earth for thirty-three and a half years. When people touched that body, they got power and healing. His tongue was so yielded to God that he never spoke a negative word. He was always lifting people up, blessing people, and manifesting the glory of God. That is what God wants our bodies to be used for. *A body so presented to Him that we know this is God’s body, this is God’s property.*

Jesus once took Peter, James and John to the mountain to pray with Him just before His crucifixion but He met them sleeping. This happened because they had not presented those bodies to God. *If you want to pray all night and you don’t do a presentation of your body, that is, a conscious, intelligent and solid decision, your body will fall asleep.* If the body has gone so lazy on you, it will be very painful to get it to do anything and if you will, your body must be disciplined and brought to a place of presentation. *Does your body know its master?*

*PRAYER:* Father, I present my body to You afresh today to be used for Your purpose and glory.

*TOPIC: DEALING WITH THE BODY AND SOUL TO DEVELOP THE SPIRIT MAN (3)*
1 Corinthians 9:26-27, Romans 12:2

*Don’t joke with the body because it will cut off your fellowship with the Father.* There are some people who are still under the dictates of the body. If the body doesn’t feel like praying or praising God, they will just sleep away. If the body goes on like that, it will truncate your fellowship with the Father. A Christian can backslide this way because prayer will soon become so far away and reading the Bible will become so strange.

*Let your body know its master and don’t let it assume the place of a master over you, otherwise you will have problems that you may not be able to solve.* Paul said there are some people whose god is their belly; that is, the body can equally take the place of God in your life, but your spirit will always give the place of God to the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Ghost. However, your spirit still needs the body to manifest the fruits of the Spirit.

*You prove God’s will by submitting your body.* In proving God’s will in marital issues, the body is presented and the mind is renewed; so also in all other areas like choosing a career. When David sinned, he was supposed to go to battle (that was God’s will), but he stayed at home until he was tempted through the body. He committed adultery with a married woman and this led to her husband’s murder. David could have proven the will of God, instead he obeyed the body and stayed at home. *When we obey the body, we obey the devil because the devil will find rest in the negative desires of this flesh.*

*PRAYER:* Father, I make a conscious decision daily to obey Your Spirit. Thank You Lord for the power to do Your will.

*TOPIC: THE POWER OF A SOUND MIND*

*The mind is a very potent weapon. Your mind can be an instrument of warfare.* If this is so, it can be for victory or defeat in spiritual warfare. God wants His children to have the mind of Christ. *The mind of Christ is the kind of mind that has the opportunity to go the way of the world, the mind, the flesh and the senses, but chooses not to.* It is the kind of mind that the devil doesn’t know how to deal with; it is the kind of mind that the enemy doesn’t know how to handle.

*The way of the sound mind means thinking the way the word of God says you should think regardless of your feelings.* When symptoms come into your body, as long as you are thinking about those symptoms, they would be there. Immediately you remove your mind from those symptoms and begin to think about what God’s word says, the good outcome you are expecting, and behave like Abraham who considered not his own body, the symptoms will eventually give way.

*To have a sound mind is to come to a place that you can tell your mind not to think on the negative, but channel it to deliberately think on the positive, and it will.* You can get to a place where the spirit of a sound mind can take over your mind to the point that your mind can think in no other direction than in the direction of the word of God. That is the place God wants you to be as His child.

*The word of God is just like a belt to gird up the loose ends of your mind immediately you get born again.* If you don’t do that, you will always be having problems in the Christian race.

*In developing a sound mind, the first thing to do is to harness your mind and train it. This involves your mouth.* If you have to harness your thought, you have to break the line of negative thoughts by first speaking something positive from the word of God, and then you deliberately pick positive thoughts and you start meditating on them.

*You train your mind to think health by ceasing to think of sickness and it begins the day you start to make confession of your healing in Jesus.* Immediately you can break the thought pattern of sickness and bring healing thoughts into your mind and consciously decide to meditate on healing, you have started harnessing your thoughts for healthy thinking.

*There are only two types of thinkers in the world: people that think after God and people that think after the devil.* There is no neutral thinker. Before you begin to stand, you must gird up the loins of your mind. If you are not going to stand on the word of God, you will fall down. Either you get the truth by reading the word or you come to where an anointed minister is ministering the word, or you combine the two.

*When you hear the word of God, don’t sleep until you do some meditation upon it. God wants us to be free in our thoughts to think after Him.*

*TOPIC: DEALING WITH THE STRONGHOLDS OF THE MIND*
2 Corinthians 10:1-5

The word “stronghold” is translated as a ‘fortress’ or a ‘tower’ (a place of defence) in the Bible. *The name of the Lord is a stronghold and when you hold on to it, the enemy cannot come near because the name is shielding you.* Just like that, the devil has built a lot of strongholds inside the soul of man, including Christians.

When the Bible says “renew your mind”, it is addressing the area of your soul that needs to be changed. Strongholds are fortresses in the realm of the soul of man where demon spirits hide. *Strongholds are responsible for all un-Christ-like manifestations that some Christians still exhibit.*

There are certain ways by which the devil builds strongholds into man. For example, in the kind of environment where people grow up, the dominant spirit has built up strongholds that will suit the operation of that spirit in them. *A lot of people have a stronghold of fear because they grew up in an atmosphere where fear was the dominant force.*

It takes time to apply the word of God to destroy that fortress of fear and build a fortress of the word of God before it begins to roll out of your mouth unconsciously. *As you meditate on the word of God, focusing your mind and thinking on it, the word of God begins to enter into you, affecting parts of that stronghold, pulling it down and replacing it.*

*If our minds will grow to a stage that the spirit of a sound mind will possess us, we have to tear down those fortresses.*

*PRAYER:* I pull down every stronghold of the devil affecting my mind NOW in the name of Jesus!

The spirit of a sound mind is a spirit that can possess you. However, the spirit of a sound mind may not possess your own spirit because you are not doing the things that you should do while you are doing things that you should not do. *If you want to get your mind to a place of peace and concentration on God, you have to give it something to focus on.* Your mind has been designed by God to always focus on something.

*Man’s mind is not meant to be blank.* That is the trick that the devil uses on some people that practise Yoga, Eckankar and other Eastern religions. Meditation is something good and it is of God, but when you keep your mind blank, a demon will jump in. *God does not want us to have our minds blank.* He wants us to think positively, constructively, and in the direction that glorifies Him because there is a latent power in the mind. *Your thought life will definitely culture you and mould you into what you become in future.*

*It is not easy to let your mind stay on God, especially when you have problems. It takes committed practice.* All the things we have been exposed to and our upbringing, our environment, our experiences and the teachings that we have been exposed to, either in the place of work, school or in relating with people, gang up to build dangerous strongholds into our lives and make us what we are.

*TOPIC: THE POWER OF FORGIVENESS AND RECONCILIATION (1)*

It is important to note that forgiveness is not the same as reconciliation, even though forgiveness makes reconciliation possible. *Reconciliation is the ultimate goal of internal hurts and bitterness.* Our part in forgiveness is to decide to forgive the offender and to let go of the man that has hurt us.

You may come across a situation whereby you had forgiven someone that offended you but when you came across the person again after many years, the old feelings of pain and resentment came rushing back. *You must know that forgiveness is not overlooking or ignoring the wrongdoing of the offender.*

*True forgiveness is based on justice which may lead to true reconciliation.* Where the issue of justice is not properly addressed, there can never be true reconciliation. This is why Jesus had to die on the cross, to satisfy the claims of God’s justice against man and so that God can truly forgive man based on His mercy and then bring perfect reconciliation. Man was not in the position or condition to satisfy the claims of justice against him. God had to send His own son.

*The reason we preach the gospel is to effect the reconciliation,* to tell man that God has forgiven him, and he can now come to Him. This means you can truly forgive a person and be reconciled with him, not because of you, but because of Him. In such cases, what can you do? *Walk in love, refuse condemnation, clarify the issues at stake and refuse to be defeated by the devil.* You can love with the love of God without “goody-goody feelings.” That is how God feels to every human being in the world. He loves them.

*TOPIC: THE POWER OF FORGIVENESS AND RECONCILIATION (2)*
Matthew 18:15-17

*As a child of God, you must accept the fact that no matter what someone has done, you can forgive the person.* To say you cannot forgive someone is not correct. To try to get on with an unrepentant person can hurt you more if you don’t know how to biblically forgive.

*Forgiveness is an act of your will. You have control over your will and your will has control over your feelings.* You can exercise your will to forgive someone just as you exercised your will to accept Jesus as Lord. When you find it difficult in exercising your will to forgive a person, look at the exchange that took place on the cross for God to forgive us and do the same. *Unless you do this, the door for reconciliation will not open.*

*True biblical forgiveness is the open door to true reconciliation.* A lot of relationships that were disturbed in the past don’t go back to their original strength because all the issues involved in true forgiveness were not dealt with, so there is no total reconciliation.

Don’t assume responsibility for reconciliation. You are only responsible for forgiveness. *No one can make heaven with unforgiveness,* but you are not responsible for the feelings of someone else towards you.

*There are three major ways by which Christians deal with forgiveness and reconciliation -: withdrawal, tolerance/pretence and confrontation.*

*Withdrawal* will not bring any healing, *tolerance/pretence* will only bring false healing. True healing comes through *confrontation.* When Christians avoid confrontation, we delay our healing and freedom. *When we confront our hurts, we open the door to our liberty from the hurts.*

*ACTION:* Take the step today to practice biblical forgiveness on any matter that has brought wounds to your heart and enjoy total freedom.

*TOPIC: GENUINE ANOINTING COMES FROM GOD ALMIGHTY (2)*
1 Samuel 16:1-7

Yesterday, I mentioned that every genuine anointing comes from one source and that is the Lord God Almighty. In 1 Samuel 16, we see the story of a man named Jesse and his children, out of whom one named David, was anointed. What qualified David for the anointing and disqualified his brothers? I will be dealing with that shortly so that you can begin to build into your life, those things that will make you anointed.

It is the anointing that makes you a blessing. It is not ability, brilliance, or any other thing. 1 Samuel 16:1 says, “And the Lord said unto Samuel, how long will thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel?…” At the time God said this, Saul was the official king but in Samuel’s closet, God had said, “I have rejected him.” God did not discuss this with the rest of the children of Israel, so the children of Israel still saw Saul as the king. They thought he still had the anointing, but God had rejected him because of certain things that he had done.

Don’t forget it was the Lord talking to Samuel, not a man. It is not a man that anoints, so you will be in error to think that you will please a man in order to become anointed. It is possible for a minister to call people forward and lay hands on them and for God not to anoint some of those people. It is also possible for a minister not to call out somebody and he ends up being the one that God anoints.

*PRAYER:* Lord, help me to stay in the approval of God that qualifies for the anointing in Jesus’ name. Amen.

*ANOINTING INHIBITOR - THE STATE OF YOUR HEART (2)*

Text- Genesis 4:3-5; Isaiah 66:1-2.

Yesterday, we saw that God could withdraw from somebody because of things in his/her life. From our text today, the two sons of Adam brought sacrifices to God, one was accepted and the other was rejected. It wasn’t because of the substance of their sacrifices, even though some people have said it was because Cain brought vegetables and Abel brought animal that had blood. No, it had nothing to do with that because they brought the products of their work. Cain was a farmer while Abel took care of cattle, however, God was responding to their hearts.

The same thing happened concerning Eliab. God said, “I have refused him for the Lord sees not as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance but the Lord looks on the heart.” We must strike a balance between the things that attract God to our life and the things that attract men to our life. We must not sacrifice the things that attract God to our life for the things that attract men to us.

David’s father presented seven of his sons whereas he had eight. David was the eighth child, but he didn’t bring him to the meeting because, in his estimation, David was not qualified. David was just a young man doing well in taking care of the sheep and skillful in playing the harp. But his brothers were tall, huge and were registered in the army. Their father presented them to Prophet Samuel but they had things in their hearts that God could not work with.


*PRAYER:* Lord, I receive grace to labour and increase in virtues that attract God into my life in Jesus’ name. Amen.

*TOPIC: GOD ANOINTS SONSHIP - ARE YOU A SON?*
1 Samuel 16:11-13; Luke 3:21-22

*Every time we gather as God’s people, God is looking for somebody to anoint; He is looking for the ‘anointable’ ones!* Can God anoint you? Seven people were presented to Samuel and passed through the channel of the anointing. God was the Source, Samuel was the channel; and the Lord said He had refused them.

*The first thing that God looks for and anoints is sonship.* God does not look for titles, accomplishments, or brilliance; He looks for sonship. The question God asks as He goes around looking for ‘anointable’ materials is, “Are you a son?” When He sees a son, He puts the oil on him. He doesn’t put the anointing on any other person except a son.

For example, if someone goes to church as a new member and he’s a gifted musician but does not want to become a part of the structure there, then he is not a son. *The advantage of being a son* in any church you find yourself is that when you get anywhere, you will key into sonship and become a blessing there.

*The kingdom of God is a kingdom of Father and son.* God is the Father of the family and what He is looking for is sonship. Dathan, Korah and Abiram qualified themselves by their self-chosen process but God said He had not chosen them; He had not called them His sons. *Jesus, our example, who carried the anointing without measure, came as a son - the son of the Father.*

*PRAYER:* Lord, help me to be sonship compliant, I will be takeable, bindable, and sendable, so help me God. Amen.

*TOPIC: PASSING THE TEST OF SONSHIP (1)*
1 Samuel 16:11-13

*Every anointing signifies the successful completion of a phase in God’s program for you. Every time God anointed people in the Bible, it was a mark of a successfully concluded phase.* If it was not successfully finished, God would not anoint the person even though men might promote him. God had rejected the brothers of David; it was Goliath that revealed that they were not anointed. “If you have not passed the test of God, don’t let men promote you!” You will meet greedy pastors that are looking for a large congregation or people to follow them. *Don’t let them promote you emotionally. If you have not passed the test of God, and you know it, God knows it and the devil knows it, a Goliath will reveal it one day.*

God always asks this question: “ARE YOU A SON?” I also ask you, “Have you become a son?” After all, the so-called soldiers went into hiding for the fear of Goliath, it was David, a shepherd boy that confronted him. Saul didn’t ask which military school David attended, Saul asked for whose son David was. *The kingdom of God rests on sonship and not on title; the glory of God rests on sonship.*

The first thirty years of Jesus’ life was a test of his sonship under a physical man - Joseph the carpenter. God the Son stayed in the house of two human beings that He created, and He served as a son. He did not quarrel with Joseph. He was the son of man and he passed the first test.

*TOPIC: PASSING THE TEST OF SONSHIP (2)*
John 13:3-5

Yesterday, we saw how Jesus exemplified sonship, Acts 13:33 says when Jesus rose from the dead, and God brought Him alive again from the world of the dead, He said, “Thou art my son, this day have I begotten thee”. What does that tell us today? *One question everyone must ask is: What must I die to, to become a son?*

Jesus gave us a picture of sonship in John 13:4. The Bible says after the supper was over, Jesus took off his outer garments in order to serve his disciples. The outer garments represent everything in our lives that men can respond to positively.

Men can praise your age, status, accomplishments, etc., which are all outer garments. But if you remove your age, status, and achievements, do you have anything else to bless people? If you don’t have anything else to bless people, you don’t have the anointing. *You must find out what you must die to in order to become a son in the Kingdom.* You may be a church member and not become a son till you meet Jesus Christ.

This is the problem in the body of Christ today. We have people that are not sons that are trying to function in positions meant for sons. That is why the anointing is missing in many assemblies. *I’m not talking of oratory but the authentic anointing-* the life changing power of God that causes someone to hear the message once and something changes inside him.

*The person ministering does not have to be wearing expensive clothes or speaking Queen’s English but once he has the anointing on him because he’s a son, the Kingdom will advance in his hand.*

*PRAYER:* Lord, help me to embrace the kingdom fathering process that will qualify me for sonship portions in Jesus name. Amen

*TOPIC: SERVING IN THE SPIRIT OF A SON (1)*
Hebrews 3:1-6

Our text today talks of two kinds of faithfulness: the faithfulness of the Son and the faithfulness of the servant. There is significant difference between the two levels of faithfulness: a servant works for what he can get out of it, but a son works because it belongs to him.

When you attend prayer meeting in church, be there as a son. The day that you are supposed to pray for your own child, you will discover that God has already supplied the stamina you need. I told my associate pastors whose branches have ongoing church building projects that they could build it under my leadership. I would support it while they provide leadership on site. Alternatively, they could leave the work for me to do but if they shoulder that kind of responsibility as associate pastors, an increased level of faith and wisdom would come into their spirit from that project that would be useful when building their own houses.

I will never forget when my son was three months old and I had to pray for him at the hospital for nine hours non-stop to snatch him from the jaws of the devil. If I had failed with going to the mountaintop years ago, three days non-stop every month, I would not have been able to do that. Those years, some of our members didn’t like me. They would ask me to leave them alone. But many of them today are pastors and pastors’ wives in different parts of the world. What they received while serving as sons that time is now their own portion.

*PRAYER:* Lord, help me not to fail those that will need what I’m to become in my sonship process in Jesus name. Amen

*TOPIC: SERVING IN THE SPIRIT OF A SON (2)*
Hebrews 5:5-9

*When you refuse to serve as a son, you are not cheating anybody but yourself and somebody that may need what you should have received before meeting you.* My son needed prayer stamina of nine hours non-stop from me. If I had been doing my prayer labour as a servant, I would have failed my son when he needed my prayer the most.

*God looks for sonship.* How much of a son are you? *The degree of sonship you have is the degree of inheritance that you can have in the Kingdom.* God told me something and I have said it many times over since then. He said, “This kingdom is not a kingdom of achievements; *it is a kingdom of inheritances”. It is a family. Everybody has a portion.*

*When you become born again, there is a registered portion that Jesus has paid for but whether you will receive it or not will be determined by your degree of sonship.* When you find whom God says you should settle with and where, then be a son there. Don’t serve at your place of work as a servant who is looking for his own interest.

*Serve as a son, and then you will be noticed.* Everywhere Jesus went, He functioned as a son. Don’t go to work as a servant; go as a son. Sons are made, servants are used. Don’t be used and dumped. *Nobody can dump a son because the process of serving as a son makes him somebody that can own his own things whether in the spirit or in the physical.*

*PRAYER:* Lord, help me not to spare myself of the kingdom processes that are required for my destiny fulfilment. Amen
