Al things being equal, PDP cannot win this presidential election. At worst I am forseeing a re-run election at first but my fear is will they allow the election to be free and fair?? Just thinking.

What do you expect from Akala when the most educated and presidential flag bearer of PDP wants 'expo' b4 he can participate in a presidential debate? This is just a clear evidence that PDP government is 'wuru wuru to the answer'; they have neither a plan or a single beneficial plan for the country and her citizen.

My problem is that Nigerians are too sentimental to see this as a warning that such people are only coming to government so that they can continue their looting. I weep for Nigeria cry
The above sum it up. Akala in a political debate. He no fit at all, All what he know is OYAPA sorry OYATO, lol and to put chain on his neck

PoliticsRe: Jonathan Confesses:ibb Is My Father (role Model)-like Father Like Son by doctorT(m): 9:26am On Feb 24, 2011
He even said IBB is his mentor,  Imagine!!!! A vote for Jonathan is a vote for the evil genius  grin

President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday admitted that the initial presence of former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida (IBB) in the presidential race gave him a cause for worry. Jonathan who stated this at his presidential campaign rally in Minna, noted that IBB commanded a good political followership across the country and would have given him a good run for his money if he had forged ahead with his ambition.

He attributed part of his worries to what he identified as a close political bond between him and the former military president whom he described as a father. “When IBB indicated interest in the presidential race I felt myself in a state of confusion and discomfort and for obvious reasons. He was a former head of state and his enormous goodwill meant he will get a lot of supporters across the country.

In addition to this, he is my mentor. He was always there for me, particularly in my days as deputy governor. So, you can see my dilemma when he declared for president under the same party. I felt so relieved when along the line he let go of his ambition. I felt happy when after the primaries he called and congratulated me,” the president submitted. Dr. Jonathan also poured encomiums on another former head of state of Niger origin, General Abdulsalam, describing him as the harbinger of new democracy.

The president also described General Abdulsalam Abubakar as a rare patriot and declared that it was to his credit and courage that the country was delivered from the clutches of military dictatorship. “We remain grateful to General Abdulsalam for giving democracy an opportunity to come back on stream and also flourish. He had a chance in 1999 to hold on to power for another five years or so but he was courageous enough to organise an election and hand over power to a civilian government,” he noted.

Jonathan noted that Niger State was undergoing positive structural development and attributed same to the good vision and sincerity of purpose exhibited by Governor Babangida Aliyu. He also commended the governor for maintaining the peace within the PDP and among the general public, adding that the ruling party was ahead of opposition parties in the state because the governor worked hard to keep it in one peace.

The president promised to work vigorously toward job creation but noted that any such policy desire would be a mirage where the problems bedeviling the power sector were not rectified.

PoliticsWe Will Stop Alao-akala’s Re-election - Oyo State Pensioners by doctorT(op): 8:11am On Feb 24, 2011
Hundreds of pensioners, yesterday, stormed Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala’s office to protest the non-payment of their pension arrears.

They vowed to frustrate the governor’s second term bid.

The aggrieved pensioners carried placards with anti-Akala ‘s inscriptions.

Two pensioners fainted from exhaustion during the protest. They were later revived and taken away for medical help.

State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) Lateef Adegoke said the governor promised to pay the arrears of 142 per cent owed them in April, last year.

Adegoke recalled that the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Olayiwola Olakojo and the Commissioner for Finance, Bayo Bankole assured them payment would start in December.

The pensioners urged the people not to vote the governor for another term of four years.

‘’If a governor could be this hostile to labour during his first term in office, what will be their fate and that of the entire citizens of Oyo State if a second term is secured’’?

The Oyo NUP chairman said ‘’’this government is not labour-friendly; it is not a friend of teachers, health workers, doctors, the judiciary, civil servants and we will not be surprised if he sees today’s congress of pensioners as the handiwork of his imaginary opposition‘’, the chairman said.

Babangida’s and Atiku’s loyalists may have been appointed in line with Jonathan’s promise to accommodate his opponents in his campaign.

Former Director-General of the Babangida Campaign organisation, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, is a member of the PCC Publicity Committee. He will also serve as one of the resource persons for the presidential campaign.

Saraki is the chairman of the Reconciliation Committee with pro-Atiku campaigner and former Senate President Ken Nnamani as member.

I disagree with you on that. Jonah prophesied doom for Nineveh but they cried to God for repentance and it never came to pass. So that someone prophesy a thing and it doesn't come to pass is not a sufficient reason to call such a false prophet. With all the comments here on Nairaland,  All I can do is to wonder if actually we need a change in this country. Some xtians in the name of being religious are quoted bible verses to show that we should not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers,  Right!!! Complete Nonsense,  Anyway am not surprised most people here are not residing in this country or not seeing the plight of the poor masses in the country.

What has GEJ done since he became the President and was it not this same Bakare and others that went all out to protest against the cabal that our dear quiet president cannot do anything about. He is now dining with them and plunging the country back to debt.

NIGERIANS THINK,  It's either now or never. PDP has nothing to offer this country. We want a different result while doing the same thing, may God save us. A word is enough for the wise,

PoliticsPdp Members Admits That Pdp Is A Jungle @ Ribadu Book Launch by doctorT(op): 2:15am On Dec 15, 2010
Some prominent members of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), yesterday took their turns to describe their parties as a jungle where different kinds of animals manifest strange behaviours even as a crucial National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party got underway in Abuja.

Former senate president, Ken Nnamani, former secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), Babagana Kingibe, Adamawa State governor, Murtala Nyako, and former aviation minister, Femi Fani Kayode, unanimously agreed that there was a semblance of a jungle life in the party, even though they could not agree on issues that had made the party a jungle.

The occasion was the public presentation in Abuja of two books - My Story, My Vision, written by former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and a presidential aspirant of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and A Paradise of Maggots:The Story of a Nigerian Anti-Graft Czar, written by Dr. Wale Adebamwi.

It was Nyako who started the jungle parable when he said he was on his way to the jungle in a direct reference to the PDP, NEC of which he is a member.
Nnamani picked the cue, and said the real jungle was the PDP NEC of which he also is a member, saying there was quite a lot going on in the party which were very wrong and which he did not subscribe to.
The former Senate President said they were “going to that jungle to set things right,” referring to the NEC meeting that was holding at the national secretariat of the party at the Wadata Plaza.

Former SGF, Babagana Kingibe, also agreed that PDP was a jungle where there were different kinds of animals; “except that at this time, there are humans in the jungle who do not belong there and are desiring to leave.”
But Fani-Kayode faulted the reference to the Obasanjo years as the days of the jungle, saying, the State House became a bigger jungle after Obasanjo left.
He said it was then that people like Ribadu was persecuted and hounded. “That was a very, very bad jungle. It was not a jungle of Obasanjo; not the jungle of Goodluck Jonathan; it was a jungle of somebody else,” he said, faulting the former SGF for describing the Obasanjo PDP as a jungle.
However, all the politicians were unanimous that Ribadu was courageous and patriotic in the discharge of his duties as the pioneer chairman of the EFCC. Fani-Kayode said he stood firm and refused to be teleguided.

Nyako said despite that Ribadu’s “determination to rid the nation of corruption was quite misunderstood and taken in a bad faith,” he “was undeterred like a nomad in the tick jungle faced with the harsh attacks of the weather and wild animals.
“We celebrate him today because of this great feat and resolve, which have made Nigeria and indeed Nigerians popular in other parts of the world. We celebrate an anti-corruption fighter and a man of integrity,” he said.

Ribadu described the book as a compelling account of some of the challenges and successes he encountered in the process of fighting corruption, saying it would provide “a valuable analysis of how our country can battle this scourge that keeps Nigeria poor.”
He said: “The policies I’m proposing are policies that will enable the country manage the difficulties that our citizens are presently grappling with. Being mindful of the fact that problems which took several decades to seed, take root and consolidate will not be amenable to quick fixes, these are not quick fixes.
“They are structured to tackle immediate problems in the short term even as medium and long-term challenges are kept in focus and solutions to them carefully worked out.”
PoliticsMy Clash With Obj, A Closed Issue - Fayose by doctorT(op): 2:09am On Dec 15, 2010
Former governor of Ekiti State, Mr Ayo Fayose, on Tuesday, told the Nigerian Tribune that the issue regarding the recent altercation between him and former President Olusegun Obasanjo at Okuku in Osun State, during the thanksgiving reception in honour of the former governor of the state, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, was now a closed issue to him.

This is just as he called on his brothers who have been making statements on the matter to “allow sleeping dog to lie.”

The former governor’s reaction came as his family, on Monday, insisted that it deserved unreserved apology from Obasanjo over the incident.

The immediate younger brother of the former governor, Mr Abimbola Fayose, had stated that the family stood by the former governor and his judgment at all times, insisting that Obasanjo did not have any right whatsoever to call “our son and brother a bastard which every Yoruba man will react to if in Fayose’s shoes.”

He maintained that the former president deserved what he got, as according to him, a man in glass house must not throw stones.

In his words: “While I agree that elders deserve respect, not all elders are responsible and, therefore, do not deserve to be called elders simply because they wear grey hairs without inward maturity.

“If our younger brother in the PDP wants PDP nomination, he should earn same through the people’s mandate in his constituency and not through his unwarranted apology to Obasanjo.”
PoliticsElectricity: Thailand Offers To Help Nigeria Generate 6,000 Megawatts by doctorT(op): 2:04am On Dec 15, 2010

Education‘why No Nigerian Varsity Is Among Top 400’ by doctorT(op): 1:44am On Dec 08, 2010
The Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Fund, Mr. Muttaqha Darma, has attributed poor funding, dearth of infrastructure, lack of qualified lecturers and corruption in the university system as some of the reasons why no Nigerian university is ranked among the best 400 in the world.

Darma said this while delivering the maiden Distinguished Lecture of the Faculty of Law of the University of Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday.

The PTDF boss also said the proliferation of universities had worsened the dearth of qualified lecturers because the few competent ones were scattered all over the numerous universities in the country.

He said it was pathetic that while the University of Johannesburg in South Africa was ranked 173 and a university in Ghana was placed 282, no university in Nigeria was listed among the first 400 in the world.

He said, “A key issue in the ranking of universities is funding. This is absent in Nigerian universities. The problem is compounded by corruption within the university system and the polity.

“There is inadequate manpower. Where manpower is available, they are not fully motivated. Proliferation of universities in the country leads to the scattering in bits and pieces of teaching and research facilities and manpower.”

http://www.punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art20101208328857

The Government will not read this oooo. All they will be concern with is to create more Universities when the ones on ground were short of funds. When will Nigerian Universities be rated in the world?? huh huh
