I think the president should concentrate on issues of the country that will better people's life and show his competence rather than all these mind games on facebook. What do you all think?? |
President Goodluck Jonathan, on Sunday, said he is a Nigerian candidate and would not be tired of pledging to the country. Jonathan faces stiff opposition to his aspiration to vie for the presidency in 2011 from a section of the North and is expected to slug it out with notable politicians, including Atiku, to clinch the PDP ticket. In a five-paragraph statement on his Facebook account on Sunday, the president said though some had made their choice, he, however, wished to urge the “rest of us” to prepare to answer whether we are northerners, southerners or Nigerians. Jonathan reminded the citizens what they affirmed to Nigeria when they recited the national pledge. “My passport and yours says Federal Republic of Nigeria. When we recite the national pledge, we affirm to Nigeria. I’m a Nigerian candidate and I will not be tired of pledging to Nigeria my country, to be faithful, loyal and honest. North or South, East or West, Nigeria is the best,” he said. http://tribune.com.ng/index.php/front-page-news/14369-consensus-im-committed-to-atiku-presidency-ibb-confirms-pressure-to-run |

Group challenges Jonathan, EFCC to investigate/charge Patience Jonathan Written by Administrator Sunday, 02 May 2010 19:43 An advert on page 36, Sunday Vanguard, May 2, 2010 challenges the acting president, Goodluck Jonathan and the EFCC to investigate/charge the wife of the Governor of Bayelsa state in 2006, Mrs. Patience Jonathan. AN URGENT MEMO TO THE ‘ACTING PRESIDENT’, DR GOODLUCK JONATHAN FROM CITIZENS AGAINST CORRUPTION IN NIGERIA CC: MRS FARIDA WAZIRI, CHAIRMAN EFCC MINISTER OF JUSTICE AND ATTORNEY-GENERAL THE BRITISH HIGH COMMISSIONER IN NIGERIA TRANSPARENCY INTERNATIONAL MALLAM NUHU RIBADU MR FESTUS KEYAMO PROFESSOR WOLE SOYINKA & PASTOR BAKARE DATE: April 28, 2010. We hereby seek your urgent intervention in matters under investigation and those that we believe EFCC ought to immediately investigate as no man or woman is above the law. 1. In 2006, consequent upon a motion of urgent public importance moved by distinguished Senator Fidelis Okoro, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu as Chairman of EFCC was invited to address the Senate on issues of corruption on Wednesday 13th September, 2006. During Mallam Nuhu Ribadu’s address on the floor of the Senate, he stated and we quote “There is also a petition against the Governor’s wife alleging that she was involved in laundering the sum of one hundred and four million into fine-land account. She is also being investigated.” The wife of the Governor of Bayelsa state in 2006, Mrs. Patience Jonathan was the person Mallam Nuhu Ribadu referred to and this can be confirmed from records of the Senate. Your Excellency, we are concerned that the same Mallam Nuhu Ribadu who remains a dismissed Nigerian police officer thus ineligible for appointment in Nigerian public service is now being hailed by you is the same person who publicly indicted your wife as stated earlier yet EFCC have not made a public declaration of the outcome of the investigation. Prince Vincent Ogbulafor is currently being charged for offences allegedly committed in 2001 so the same should apply to your wife or the final report made public by EFCC. He who comes to equity must come with clean hands. 2. In response to a question during an interview with the Guardian on Sunday, February 24, 2008 as follows; “was it true that you gave Obasanjo N800,million for his campaign?”, General Danjuma replied; “No I did not give him. I helped finance his first term election. I raised $7 million. Slightly more than half of it came from my pocket. The other half came from my business associates. And this money was passed on to him through (former National Security Adviser, Gen) Aliyu Gusau”. “Aliyu Gusau came to my house here (in Lagos). Each time I carried thousands, thousands and thousands (of naira) to him in Ghana-must- go”. The claims of the Chairman of your Presidential Advisory Council (PAC), General Danjuma tha General Aliyu Gusau who is now your National Security Adviser (NSA) collected the naira equivalent of millions of dollars in Ghana-must-go bags at a time the American backed money laundering act was in place must be investigated. 3. In the same interview, General Danjuma said; “It is this same Aremu, who used to harass his perceived enemies and political opponents. He used Ribadu and some of his Ministers to pursue (former Vice President) Atiku (Abubakar). He used Ribadu and (Malam Nasir) el-Rufai and one or two of his ministers to cover his tracks in the PTDF (Petroleum Technology Development Fund). General Danjuma should be invited to provide information about the PTDF scandal. 4. All the indicted parties in the Okiro report on the Halliburton scandal must be charged to court immediately. Your Excellency, the world awaits your decisive and courageous actions. Mallam Umaru Mohammed Daura, Katsina State. http://elombah.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=3483:advert-challenges-jonathan-efcc-to-investigatecharge-ex-governors-wife&catid=48:world-news&Itemid=69 Please can our dear president come out to defend himself or his wife about this allegations and then we will know if truely he his loyal to our dear country, |
To me, I believe OBJ will rather fight with his last strength; either by crook or any means than to see ATIKU emerging as the PDP candidate. Anyway Baba Iyabo, I hail una. ![]() |
Consensus candidate: OBJ mocks Atiku Friday, November 26, 2010 Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo yesterday burst into laughter and kept on for about three minutes when asked by State House correspondents to react to the emergence of former vice president Atiku Abubakar as northern consensus aspirant for the presidential primaries of the People Democratic Party (PDP), in the 2011 general elections. Obasanjo in his usual comic nature said sarcastically in pidgin English, “I dey laugh!” The two-time former president who attended the National Council of State (NCS) meeting, when cornered during break after the first session of meeting to comment on the emergence of his former deputy while in office, first adjusted his white Agbada, took up his Vicks inhaler, inhaled repeatedly on the inhaler, and laughed, before saying: “I dey laugh !” “I am full of joy and I wish you (journalists) and Nigerians the fullness of joy. I wish you peace and joy always”; and reporters chorused: “Amen”. http://www.sunnewsonline.com/webpages/news/national/2010/nov/26/national-26-11-2010-001.htm So who will laugh last?? |
Mine was in 1998. At NLNG Bonny Island to visit a relative and am all alone at home for four days with internet. I opened my first mail box then, though closed but reopened it in 1999. |
To me I believe the best way to deal with marriage challenges is to be close to God and to really know the meaning of love and the meaning of the word, "for better for worse" because most people nowadays only do the better and forget the worse. To those that are Christians, the bible say husbands should love their wives as Christ love the church so in other to deal with marriage challenges the husband need to ask God to give him the grace to do this. A television cannot function properly if what is in the manual is not followed so likewise marriage, (sorry, I don't mean to preach but am just sharing the way I deal with my own marriage challenges) |
ishit4body:I know this very well but the point is the cost of the strike usually outweighs the non-payment of the increase in pay. When strike become means of depriving people of their opportunities, sick people losing their lives because their is no doctor, 4 years course turning to 6 years just in the name of strike then what do we call that?? What other means can workers fight for their right without strike that will paralyse everything is my major point here. |
Is industrial action (STRIKE) the best answer to worker's compensation issue in Nigeria?. STRIKE has always been a constant approach to salary/wages issues. Though some said the government should learn to respect dialogue and promises made to workers but going on strike always is it the best way? or is it more of selfish opinions on the part of the workers? |
My favorite verse in the bible is; I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Phil 4:13 |
