SportsRe: Football Leaks: UEFA Helped PSG & Man City Cover Up FFP Fraud by dodoniyi(op): 10:16pm On Nov 02, 2018
MORE REVELATIONS

UEFA helped Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City get around their own Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules, according to a Football Leaks investigation published on Friday.

According to the investigation of “more than 70 million documents” analysed “over eight months by 80 journalists” from members of European Investigative Collaborations (EIC), UEFA “knowingly helped the clubs to cover up their own irregularities for ‘political reasons'”.

Both clubs, owned and bankrolled by wealth from Qatar and Abu Dhabi respectively, have avoided the most severe Financial Fair Play punishment of being excluded from the UEFA Champions League.

That is despite using “forbidden money” to inflate their budgets, according to the investigation.

Football Leaks claims Qatar and Abu Dhabi combined “have injected some 4.5 billion euros ($5.1 billion) in the last seven years” to increase the budgets of the clubs they own. Of that figure, 2.7 billion euros has been into City, via their Abu-Dhabi owners and from allegedly “overestimated” sponsorship deals.

UEFA rules state that clubs cannot spend more than they earn in any given season and deficits must fall within a 30-million-euro limit over three seasons.

Both PSG and City were fined 60 million euros by UEFA in May 2014, but both were told they would get 40 million euros of that back if they stuck to the terms of their settlement.

French investigative website Mediapart claims Gianni Infantino — the current FIFA president who was then UEFA’s general secretary — “directly negotiated an agreement with Manchester City”, bypassing the Financial Control Panel of European football’s governing body.

Included in the copy of emails sent by Infantino to City’s chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak was Nicolas Sarkozy, the former French president and a PSG fan but who also reputedly helped City’s Abu-Dhabi owners in their attempts to get around FFP rules.

Asked for a reaction by Mediapart, City said, “the attempt to damage the reputation of the club is organised and clear.”

PSG said in a statement that it has “always complied strictly with the laws and regulations in force and strongly denies the allegations published today by Mediapart”.

Meanwhile, Platini said that his FFP rules were not set up “to kill or strangle clubs financially” even if he always wanted punishments to be handed out.

PSG have been the subject of another UEFA investigation ever since coming under pressure from some of Europe’s footballing elite when the French champions signed Neymar from Barcelona for a world-record 222 million euros ($264 million) in August 2017.

In late September UEFA said it had referred the accusations against the Paris club to its financial unit “for further investigation”. PSG’s case, though, is complicated by lucrative sponsorship deals with the Qatar National Bank and the Gulf state’s tourism authority.

The Football Leaks investigation points the finger at PSG’s five-year agreement with the Qatar Tourism Authority, valued at 1.075 billion euros, or 215 million euros a year.

That is despite the investigation claiming that “two independent auditors (Repucom and Octagon) assigned by UEFA valued the contract at…123,000 euros per year for one, and 2.8 million euros a year for the other”
SportsFootball Leaks: UEFA Helped PSG & Man City Cover Up FFP Fraud by dodoniyi(op): 10:00pm On Nov 02, 2018
Gianni Infantino and Michel Platini have been linked to the scandal

More scandal. According to Football Leaks, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City have resorted to fraud to get over UEFA's Financial Fair Play rules (FFP), with the help of Michel Platini and Gianni Infantino.

According to the information, PSG, owned by Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, received 1.8 billion euros from the Qatari government to stop them from breaching rules which would have seen them booted out of European competition -- as well as helping them to sign players like Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

The money was invested in the form of a sponsorship deal -- but not one adjusting to the real market value -- and ex-UEFA president Platini and Infantino, now FIFA president but UEFA's general secretary a the time, are alleged to have helped with the cover up.

Former France president Nicolas Sarkozy is also said to be involved. It's claimed he encouraged Qatar to take over PSG and invest in a new French television channel (beIN) in exchange for Platini to help them get the World Cup in 2022.

Manchester City, meanwhile, are accused of a similar crime. The club's owners have allegedly injected 2.7 billion eurost into the club over the last seven years through shareholders and over-valued sponsorship contracts which infringe FFP regulations.

Der Spiegel reported: "European football association UEFA arranged secret settlements with Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain that allowed the clubs to cheat its own Financial Fair Play rules by hundreds of millions of euros, a new investigation by EIC Network can reveal.

"Senior UEFA administrators, including the ex-secretary general and current FIFA president, Gianni Infantino, personally intervened to encourage settlements with big clubs, while the Club Financial Control Body (CFCB), the UEFA department that investigates rule breaches, aggressively pursued poorer clubs in the likes of Turkey and Romania.”

PoliticsLagos State Government Restores Door-to-door Waste Evacuation By PSP Operators by dodoniyi(op): 6:45am On Oct 24, 2018
The Lagos State Government has directed the Association of Waste Managers of Nigeria (AWAM), otherwise known as PSP operators, to resume door-to-door evacuation of waste.

Newsmen report that the government gave the directive during a meeting with the waste managers on Tuesday in Lagos.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr Tunji Bello, said in a statement that the PSP operators should go back to their various areas of operation and restore the door-to-door evacuation of waste.

Bello said that the directive was in making good the government’s promise to achieve a cleaner and healthier environment.

He said that Lagos State Government had constituted a committee, headed by him, to thoroughly review the situation and design template for the restoration of the services of PSP operators.

”This move is to reassure you that we are set on a new beginning and it is to consolidate what we have achieved. Everybody must work together to restore the glory of Lagos,” the SSG said.

He said that government had appointed Mr Ola Oresanya, former General Manager of LAWMA, as a consultant to work with the state to fashion out a format for the restoration of door-to-door waste collection.

Bello urged the PSP operators to be ready for work and set aside any misgivings, adding that he was in constant touch with the leadership of AWAM who had assured him of their cooperation.

The Commissioner for Environment, Mr Babatunde Durosinmi-Etti, urged all stakeholders to recognise the urgent need to clear the backlog of waste in the metropolis, while a holistic solution was being worked out simultaneously.

”Being aware that PSP operators were in business to make profit and sustain employment, government therefore enjoins residents to pay for waste collection by the PSP operators,” Durosinmi-Etti said.

The Chairman of AWAM, Mr Oladipo Egbeyemi, expressed appreciation to the government for the development.

Egbeyemi urged for thorough situation review and provision of enabling environment for unhindered performance by members of the association.

Fake prophecy? Or it is still possible to have the next president of Nigeria whose name starts with the letter S?

South African Based Nigerian Prophet, Samuel Akinbodunse has dropped a shocking prophecy about Nigeria and 2019 election.

In a live service at his South Africa Church, the Freedom for all Nation Outreach General Overseer, the man of God made it known that come 2019, Nigeria will have a youth as President and the name of the person starts with 'S'.

So far, candidates that have indicated interest in becoming president come 2019 with S as their names are 47 year old Sowore Omoyele and 55 year old Saraki Bukola. Others on social media insinuate it may also be 'Sai Buhari'.

PoliticsRe: List Of Minimum Wages By Countries Of The World. by dodoniyi: 9:20am On Oct 01, 2018
wirinet:
If Nigerians deserve an increase of minimum wage from N18,000 to N56,000, then Nigerian transporters deserve an increase in minimum transport fares from N100 to N100, landlords deserve an increase in minimum rent of N2000 per month to N6000 per month and even farmers deserve an increase in minimum price of yam from N150 to N450.
When you have more money pursuing the same goods and services, that's economics 101's definition of inflation.
Labour has been increasing minimum wage from time immemorial, what had been the impact on the masses? Hyper inflation.
Labour should have been fighting for an increase in motorable roads to reduce transport fares, they should have been striking for increase of fertilisers and a reduction of price to make food cheaper. They should have been picketing government houses to provide the masses with good public hospitals and affordable health insurance. What about schools, should labour not demand more schools and free books to bring down school fees? Instead, they are always striking for increase in wages that inflation always overtakes in a matter of weeks.

You cannot set minimum wage in isolation of other economic parameters like population, GDP, government earnings, level of infrastructure, etc.
Nigeria is one of the poorest nations in terms of GDP per capita.
At 18,000 minimum wage, our recurrent expenditure is already over 70% of total budget. If we multiply that by 3, we would need to borrow from China just to pay salaries. We could have zero infrastructural development, which is what is critical for actual economic development.

We simply need to create more and better goods and services and inflation will naturally come down. As long as we have more money chasing the same number of goods and services in an economy, inflation is an inevitability.
Good talk!
Not forgetting that the millions of private sector employees will be grossly affected with these increases because their employers won't increase their salaries. Also some state governors won't increase their workers' salaries.

My landlord said to me a week ago that he is waiting for government to increase salaries so that he can increase his own rent. I told him that I don't work with government, he refused to listen to me. You see that.

Ambode is a typical definition of a real man. If he eventually didn't win the primary, he would know he gave all he had and not just backing down like a coward! And if he wins the primary, then Tinubu's relevance is reduced to nothing! Let the primary be free, fair and credible.
Even if he does not win the primary election, Tinubu's satanfatherisn is already reduced because of what the governor said yesterday. Remember the marginal difference between the total votes for Ambode and Jimi Agbaje in 2015.
