The leadership of Omega Fire Ministries, OFM, Worldwide, led by Johnson Suleman, has sacked one of its pastors, Joseph Aiyedun. The cleric was relieved of his duties after it was revealed that he used the ministry’s name and bank account to register for money doubling scheme, Mavrodi Mundial Movement, MMM. The church’s head of administration, David Apelorioye, made this known in a statement. A controversial cleric, Mr. Suleman, an apostle, is best remembered for the infamous ‘death sentence’ he pronounced on the Kaduna State Governor last year. Speaking during a service in 2016, Mr. Suleman condemned the MMM scheme, and described it as demonic and satanic. He also said participants need prayers. The statement from the church reads: “The management of Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide is using this medium to react to news making the rounds on social media regarding one of its pastors who used the ministry’s name to register for the MMM scheme. “Ordinarily, the church would not have reacted to the story because of falsehoods being published regularly by some blogs and news websites whose credibility are questionable. But after a thorough investigation by the church authority, it was established that one of our branch pastors in Aba, Pastor Joseph Aiyedun, indeed participated in the scheme. “The church authority decided to expel Pastor Aiyedun not because he registered for the ponzi scheme but because he involved the ministry’s name in the satanic adventure. And we discovered that he was able to use the ministry’s name because he had access to the account of his branch which itself is against the church’s guidelines and a fraud likely to have been carried out in connivance with the branch’s account department. We are still investigating further to unravel the whole activities. “Of the OFM’s 200 churches in Nigeria alone and its 800 branches in 51 nations of the world, it is possible for any of the pastors to go astray and be corrected. In fact, we discovered that Pastor Aiyedun, including some other members of OFM, did the scheme before our father, Apostle Johnson Suleman, made the warning last year against MMM, but Pastor Aiyedun was fired because he did it with the ministry’s name as the OFM rules forbid any of its pastors access to the account except people in the account department.” http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/220756-popular-nigerian-church-sacks-pastor-participating-mmm-churchs-account.html |
On Thursday, the House of Representatives will debate a motion, which will determine if Gambian President Yahaya Jammeh will be granted asylum in Nigeria. The move is part of efforts to broker peace and ensure transition in the West African country. The motion is being sponsored by Rep Mohammed Sani Zorro (APC, Jigawa). It was supposed to be taken yesterday, but was postponed. Zorro said Nigeria should consider the option if it will lead to Jammeh relinquishing power to Barrow. When Speaker Yakubu Dogara put the motion to a voice vote, the majority of the lawmakers shouted ‘nay,’ but the speaker ruled in favour. Jammeh is refusing to step down , despite initially conceding defeat to Adama Barrow in last month’s presidential polls. This week, he asked a high-level ECOWAS delegation to move their visit from Wednesday to Friday . http://dailypost.ng/2017/01/12/gambia-stalemate-reps-debate-asylum-jammeh-nigeria/

Lagos- based lawyer, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa has likened the controversy surrounding the resignation of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye to the Gambia controversial election, urging the man of God to clear the confusion surrounding his new title He immediately named Pastor Joshua Obayemi as his replacement. News, however, surfaced the same day, claiming Obayemi was only appointed as the head of the church in Nigeria and that Adeboye will continue as the General Overseer of the church worldwide. But Adegboruwa, in a statement sent to DAILY POST on Sunday called for caution because he sees “signs of confusion brewing.” The activist lawyer and a self confessed follower of the former lecturer turned Pastor, urged Adeboye to clear the confusion for the sake of his integrity. Commending Adeboye popularly called Papa G.O. for doing “what no pastor has done before,” the activist lawyer however urged the clergyman to be fair to inquisitive Nigerians. The statement titled “As in Gambia, As in RCCG?, reads: “The emerging trends of events in The Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, in the past 24 hours, is beginning to give cause for serious concern. “Very recently, elections were held in The Gambia and the opposition was declared the winner. The incumbent President called to congratulate the winner and conceded defeat. But before the President-elect could be sworn in, President Jamel recanted and has now thrown the West African nation into crisis. “On Saturday, January 7, 2017, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, told all ministers gathered at the Annual Ministers Conference, that the Church now has a new General Overseer, but before the end of the day, information emerged that Pastor Adeboye had only stepped down as General Overseer for Nigeria and would still continue to function as General Overseer of Rccg Worldwide. “When it was pointed out that the Constitution of Rccg does not recognize that title, then we were informed that Pastor Adeboye will now be known as Global Missioner and Spiritual Leader of the Church. When the illegality of that title was revealed, then we have now been told that Pastor Adeboye will now retain his title as General Overseer, while Pastor Obayemi is National Overseer. “I have taken the pains to check the Constitution of the church and I can see signs of some confusion brewing, if not carefully handled. “In all my time that I’ve known Pastor Adeboye, integrity has been his watchword and the trends emerging from the inconsistent pronouncements from the church since yesterday, do not support the personality of our dear Daddy GO, and he himself has to act quickly to douse the tension being generated. “From a church of just about 40 parishes in 1981 when Pastor Adeboye took over as General Overseer, the Rccg is now present in about 192 countries all over the world. Rccg has become one of the most influential churches worldwide and we cannot afford to give the impression that Daddy GO is unwilling to retire or hand over to somebody else. That is certainly not the Pastor Adeboye that we all know. “In his succession plan, Pastor Adeboye has done what no pastor has done before and he should follow it through and mentor the people that God has led him to chose as his successors. “We his followers are pained with the development but as things are now, there is little we can do about it. “The Codes of the Financial Reporting Council are not new. They were implemented seamlessly for Banks when their Managing Directors who had been in office for ten years were asked to hand over. This has now been extended to non-profit organizations like churches and there is nothing strange about this. “These codes were contested at the Federal High Court and the court decided against us. They are meant to achieve transparency in these organizations. “I therefore humbly appeal to Daddy GO to follow through his plan and avoid the temptations of The Gambia.” http://dailypost.ng/2017/01/08/adeboye-must-careful-not-put-rccg-controversy-similar-gambia-election-ebun-olu-adegboruwa/ |

World football governing body, FIFA, has decided to stop their annual $1.5million development grant to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), because they found “traces of corruption” in how previous funds were spent. The leader of the Northern Inter-Faith and Religious Organizations for Peace, Bishop Musa Fomson has predicted that 2017 would be a year of victory and realization for Nigerians even as he urged President Muhammadu Buhari not to allow a few citizens of the country hold the larger population hostage. He said Nigerians must declare a week of national fast and prayers. https://d19lga30codh7.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/Buhari-flag.png In his personal New Year message made available to journalists, Bishop Fomson revealed that he saw President Buhari surpassing his previous achievements in 2017 with measures that were earlier misinterpreted as mistakes or errors yielding fruits that would compel Nigerians to reconsider their assessment of him. The clergyman said, “Nigerians complained about what they thought was the reversal in their economic fortunes but 2017 is the year they would realize that the words of Ecclesiastic 3:3 (A time to kill and a time to heal; A time to tear down and a time to build up.) are true and would not pass away without fulfillment. “Mr President had spent the past time killing corruption that had threatened to kill Nigerians and 2017 is the year in which he shall fulfill his divine mandate to heal Nigeria from the ravages of the cancer of corruption. He has disrupted and torn down the reign of impunity and all the faulty foundations holding this country back; this year is the year in which he would build enduring institutions and systems that would establish a regime of fairness and equity for all Nigerians,” he noted. Bishop Fomson further declared that the Nigerian Army will capture the elusive leader of the Boko Haram terror group, Abubakar Shekau alive in the year and would bring him to Abuja for all Nigerians to see. According to him, “The Nigerian Army will take Shekau captive the same way the terrorist leader had taken Nigerians captive. Shekau’s shame will be great as he would be brought to Abuja for Nigerians to come and see for themselves that the last of the bearers of the title of ‘Shekau’ has met his end because he mocked God and the peace he has ordained for Nigeria.” “Those who secretly support the terrorists while pretending to be patriotic citizens would finally be exposed except they find ways of cutting support to Boko Haram and turn to the path of repentance. Their gang up against the peace of Nigeria is not pleasing to God and the cries of Nigerians to their maker would not go unanswered in the year.” “Even as God liberates Nigerians from terrorists on one hand they will also be emancipated economically as the Almighty would restore what the people think they have lost multiple folds like he did to Job in the Bible.” “The upheaval within dominant political parties would however prove impossible to resolve. Top politicians will abandon the APC to make way for new entrants that will show unparralled eagerness to take over the position of those that would leave.” “My counsel is that even in the midst of these visions of abundance, Nigerians must declare a week of national fast and prayers seek the face of God so that the good things can come to pass while any untowards possibilities are averted. We must also repent of all our sins,” he charged. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/01/see-buhari-capture-shekau-fulfil-mandate-top-politicians-abandon-apc-2017-bishop-fomson/

One of the very young but pin-point with his prophecies in the country is Warri-based seer, Pastor Isaiah Ogedegbe who has come up with new peeps into the immediate future highlighting 10 things that God told him will happen in 2017. According to him, “in 2017, His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari will face a hard time while trying to cause a positive change in the economy of Nigeria through his policies. “Some big men in government will try to distract the President of Nigeria from doing what will make Nigeria a great nation. He urged the people of the nation to “pray that God will give the President of Nigeria good health to continue in office. Cheery news is that in 2017, the people should “pray that the price of fuel will not increase in the country.” His words: “In 2017, Nigerians will complain that there is inflation in the country. In 2017, pray for peace in the country between the North and the South because I see a contention between the North and the South. “In 2017, I hear Nigerians saying that the country should be divided. I urge the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) to pray for the country to remain as one. The nation’s tormentor-in-chief, the Niger Delta Avengers will bomb pipelines in Nigeria” In an assuring tone, the seer said, “in 2017, soldiers will be sent into the Niger Delta region by the Federal Government. There will be unrest in the South. In 2017, some insurgents will be arrested by the Nigerian military. https://blanknewsonline./2016/07/25/prophesy-buhari-will-be-distracted-in-2017-but-pray-for-him-ogedengbe/

Several warnings by the Central Bank of Nigeria that the money doubling scheme, MMM, is a scam meant to defraud Nigerians seem to have little effect as the scheme is variously embraced by many https://static.pulse.ng/img/incoming/origs5523800/8671857979-w640-h640/mmmscam.jpg Despite attempts by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the National Assembly to curtail the growth of the MMM scheme in the country, many Nigerians see the scheme as the best thing to happen to them since sliced bread. They see the Ponzi Scheme as a blessing in disguise » with the so-called 30% return on its investments over a short period. The banks also are furious because they can’t just believe that any deposit scheme can promise a 30% interest rate after 30 days but there are die-hard devotees of MMM who see nothing wrong in what they do » and are quick to point out the benefits of the scheme despite fears that it would have a serious implication when it crashes. So why are Nigerians so hellbent on continuing with the scheme if the dangers enumerated by the CBN is so appalling? Here are 5 top reasons Nigerians have come to fall in love with the MMM Scheme. 1. Easy Money The lure to make easy money from the scheme is a key factor why Nigerians are not in a hurry to heed the government’s warning to stay away from the scheme. Nigerians are always quick to embrace any opportunity that gives them fast and easy money without necessarily working for it and MMM presents a chance to get that money and no amount of negativity would make them give up the chance. They believe that if they invest a token and make a huge profit from it, what is there to lose. So they would rather take the risk than be left out on the bandwagon 2. Financial Problems The country is in recession and everyone is financially incapacitated, so what is wrong in taking the risk if one can get extra money from it? Financial problems can hardly leave the mind of a person and any scheme that seems capable of adding extra money into his pocket and augmenting his income is very welcome. The subconscious mind of a person believes all of his financial problems can be solved and this is why MMM is a perfect place to escape from those problems. 3. Get Rich Quick Syndrome Many Nigerians would not shy away from any scheme that would make them become rich quickly or overnight and as such, they keep pumping their money into MMM scheme despite stories of losses and ultimate suicide in countries that embraced it before now. They would swap stories of how someone won millions in the scheme and is now living the life of a big boy, so anyone that tries to stop them is an enemy of progress. 4. Recession The recession is real in the country and has brought with it untold hardship in the land that has made the average Nigerian unable to meet his financial obligation to his family. Now the MMM scheme seems to have come to the rescue of Nigerians and they have embraced it with open arms and despite its alleged dark history, Nigerians are pouring their money into the money double venture. Anything is better than just sitting down doing nothing as no one when the economy will come out of its current situation. 5. High-Interest Rates According to proponents of MMM scheme, the high-interest rates that come with it is an added attraction. There is no commercial bank in the country today that can boast of rewarding its investors with the 30% interest rate that MMM currently offers and as such, everyone wants to have a piece of the pie. To some, MMM is a God-sent blessing to relieve Nigerians of the current hardship and as such, they will always see it as one venture they can be sure of getting high-interest rates. http://pulse.ng/gist/pulse-list-5-reasons-nigerians-love-mmm-id5854612.html |

https://thenationonlineng.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Rochas-Okorocha.jpg Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha yesterday warned women that female genital mutilation (FGM) will henceforth attract imprisonment. The governor said as soon as the bill against FGM is passed into law by the House of Assembly, the punishment for offenders would be several years of imprisonment, as the law would specify. Okorocha, who spoke at the launch of the campaign against FGM, initiated by his wife, Nkechi, in collaboration with United Nations Fund for Population Agency (UNFPA), described the practice as barbaric and unacceptable. He said: “Barbaric cultures, which are not beneficial to the people, should be abolished.” The governor urged the House of Assembly to expedite action on the passage of the bill to enable his administration proffer a permanent solution to the problem. Mrs Okorocha, who led the awareness match with over 500 female students and women against the practice, said Imo State women had vowed to end FGM. She said the women would not rest until there was end to the practice. The governor’s wife noted that the practice could lead to death, emotional trauma and broken homes, if left unchecked. UNFPA’s Country Representative Mrs Beatrice Mukta hailed Mrs Okorocha for her fight against FGM. She noted that the battle against the practice would not be easy. The UNFPA chief urged traditional institutions as well as Imo State women to support the governor’s wife in her efforts to end FGM. http://thenationonlineng.net/okorocha-imo-women-circumcise-daughter-go-jail/ |
