InvestmentPopular Nigerian Church Sacks Pastor For Participating In MMM by dodoniyi(op): 8:41pm On Jan 17, 2017
The leadership of Omega Fire Ministries, OFM, Worldwide, led by Johnson Suleman, has sacked one of its pastors, Joseph Aiyedun.

The cleric was relieved of his duties after it was revealed that he used the ministry’s name and bank account to register for money doubling scheme, Mavrodi Mundial Movement, MMM.
The church’s head of administration, David Apelorioye, made this known in a statement.
A controversial cleric, Mr. Suleman, an apostle, is best remembered for the infamous ‘death sentence’ he pronounced on the Kaduna State Governor last year.

Speaking during a service in 2016, Mr. Suleman condemned the MMM scheme, and described it as demonic and satanic. He also said participants need prayers.

The statement from the church reads:

“The management of Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide is using this medium to react to news making the rounds on social media regarding one of its pastors who used the ministry’s name to register for the MMM scheme.

“Ordinarily, the church would not have reacted to the story because of falsehoods being published regularly by some blogs and news websites whose credibility are questionable.

But after a thorough investigation by the church authority, it was established that one of our branch pastors in Aba, Pastor Joseph Aiyedun, indeed participated in the scheme.
“The church authority decided to expel Pastor Aiyedun not because he registered for the ponzi scheme but because he involved the ministry’s name in the satanic adventure.

And we discovered that he was able to use the ministry’s name because he had access to the account of his branch which itself is against the church’s guidelines and a fraud likely to have been carried out in connivance with the branch’s account department. We are still investigating further to unravel the whole activities.

“Of the OFM’s 200 churches in Nigeria alone and its 800 branches in 51 nations of the world, it is possible for any of the pastors to go astray and be corrected. In fact, we discovered that Pastor Aiyedun, including some other members of OFM, did the scheme before our father, Apostle Johnson Suleman, made the warning last year against MMM, but Pastor Aiyedun was fired because he did it with the ministry’s name as the OFM rules forbid any of its pastors access to the account except people in the account department.”

PoliticsGambia Stalemate: Reps To Debate Asylum For Jammeh In Nigeria by dodoniyi(op): 9:41am On Jan 12, 2017
On Thursday, the House of Representatives will debate a motion, which will determine if Gambian President Yahaya Jammeh will be granted asylum in Nigeria.

The move is part of efforts to broker peace and ensure transition in the West African country.
The motion is being sponsored by Rep Mohammed Sani Zorro (APC, Jigawa). It was supposed to be taken yesterday, but was postponed.

Zorro said Nigeria should consider the option if it will lead to Jammeh relinquishing power to Barrow.

When Speaker Yakubu Dogara put the motion to a voice vote, the majority of the lawmakers shouted ‘nay,’ but the speaker ruled in favour.
Jammeh is refusing to step down , despite initially conceding defeat to Adama Barrow in last month’s presidential polls.

This week, he asked a high-level ECOWAS
delegation to move their visit from Wednesday to Friday .

Christianity EtcAdeboye Must Be Careful Not To Put RCCG Into Controversy Similar To Gambia by dodoniyi(op): 3:01pm On Jan 08, 2017
Lagos- based lawyer, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa has likened the controversy surrounding the resignation of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye to the Gambia controversial election, urging the man of God to clear the confusion surrounding his new title

He immediately named Pastor Joshua Obayemi as his replacement.
News, however, surfaced the same day, claiming Obayemi was only appointed as the head of the church in Nigeria and that Adeboye will continue as the General Overseer of the church worldwide.

But Adegboruwa, in a statement sent to DAILY POST on Sunday called for caution because he sees “signs of confusion brewing.”
The activist lawyer and a self confessed follower of the former lecturer turned Pastor, urged Adeboye to clear the confusion for the sake of his integrity.

Commending Adeboye popularly called Papa G.O. for doing “what no pastor has done before,” the activist lawyer however urged the clergyman to be fair to inquisitive Nigerians.
The statement titled “As in Gambia, As in RCCG?, reads: “The emerging trends of events in The Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, in the past 24 hours, is beginning to give cause for serious concern.

“Very recently, elections were held in The Gambia and the opposition was declared the winner. The incumbent President called to congratulate the winner and conceded defeat. But before the President-elect could be sworn in, President Jamel recanted and has now thrown the West African nation into crisis.

“On Saturday, January 7, 2017, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, told all ministers gathered at the Annual Ministers Conference, that the Church now has a new General Overseer, but before the end of the day, information emerged that Pastor Adeboye had only stepped down as General Overseer for Nigeria and would still continue to function as General Overseer of Rccg Worldwide.

“When it was pointed out that the Constitution of Rccg does not recognize that title, then we were informed that Pastor Adeboye will now be known as Global Missioner and Spiritual Leader of the Church. When the illegality of that title was revealed, then we have now been told that Pastor Adeboye will now retain his title as General Overseer, while Pastor Obayemi is National Overseer.

“I have taken the pains to check the Constitution of the church and I can see signs of some confusion brewing, if not carefully handled.

“In all my time that I’ve known Pastor Adeboye, integrity has been his watchword and the trends emerging from the inconsistent pronouncements from the church since yesterday, do not support the personality of our dear Daddy GO, and he himself has to act quickly to douse the tension being generated.
“From a church of just about 40 parishes in 1981 when Pastor Adeboye took over as General Overseer, the Rccg is now present in about 192 countries all over the world. Rccg has become one of the most influential churches worldwide and we cannot afford to give the impression that Daddy GO is unwilling to retire or hand over to somebody else. That is certainly not the Pastor Adeboye that we all know.

“In his succession plan, Pastor Adeboye has done what no pastor has done before and he should follow it through and mentor the people that God has led him to chose as his successors.

“We his followers are pained with the development but as things are now, there is little we can do about it.
“The Codes of the Financial Reporting Council are not new. They were implemented seamlessly for Banks when their Managing Directors who had been in office for ten years were asked to hand over. This has now been extended to non-profit organizations like churches and there is nothing strange about this.
“These codes were contested at the Federal High Court and the court decided against us. They are meant to achieve transparency in these organizations.

“I therefore humbly appeal to Daddy GO to follow through his plan and avoid the temptations of The Gambia.”

Christianity EtcI See Buhari Capture Shekau, fulfil Mandate, top Politicians Abandon APC This 2017 by dodoniyi(op):
The leader of the Northern Inter-Faith and Religious Organizations for Peace, Bishop Musa Fomson has predicted that 2017 would be a year of victory and realization for Nigerians even as he urged President Muhammadu Buhari not to allow a few citizens of the country hold the larger population hostage.

He said Nigerians must declare a week of national fast and prayers.

https://d19lga30codh7.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/Buhari-flag.png

In his personal New Year message made available to journalists, Bishop Fomson revealed that he saw President Buhari surpassing his previous achievements in 2017 with measures that were earlier misinterpreted as mistakes or errors yielding fruits that would compel Nigerians to reconsider their assessment of him.

The clergyman said, “Nigerians complained about what they thought was the reversal in their economic fortunes but 2017 is the year they would realize that the words of Ecclesiastic 3:3 (A time to kill and a time to heal; A time to tear down and a time to build up.) are true and would not pass away without fulfillment.

“Mr President had spent the past time killing corruption that had threatened to kill Nigerians and 2017 is the year in which he shall fulfill his divine mandate to heal Nigeria from the ravages of the cancer of corruption. He has disrupted and torn down the reign of impunity and all the faulty foundations holding this country back; this year is the year in which he would build enduring institutions and systems that would establish a regime of fairness and equity for all Nigerians,” he noted.

Bishop Fomson further declared that the Nigerian Army will capture the elusive leader of the Boko Haram terror group, Abubakar Shekau alive in the year and would bring him to Abuja for all Nigerians to see.

According to him, “The Nigerian Army will take Shekau captive the same way the terrorist leader had taken Nigerians captive. Shekau’s shame will be great as he would be brought to Abuja for Nigerians to come and see for themselves that the last of the bearers of the title of ‘Shekau’ has met his end because he mocked God and the peace he has ordained for Nigeria.”

“Those who secretly support the terrorists while pretending to be patriotic citizens would finally be exposed except they find ways of cutting support to Boko Haram and turn to the path of repentance. Their gang up against the peace of Nigeria is not pleasing to God and the cries of Nigerians to their maker would not go unanswered in the year.”

“Even as God liberates Nigerians from terrorists on one hand they will also be emancipated economically as the Almighty would restore what the people think they have lost multiple folds like he did to Job in the Bible.”

“The upheaval within dominant political parties would however prove impossible to resolve. Top politicians will abandon the APC to make way for new entrants that will show unparralled eagerness to take over the position of those that would leave.”

“My counsel is that even in the midst of these visions of abundance, Nigerians must declare a week of national fast and prayers seek the face of God so that the good things can come to pass while any untowards possibilities are averted. We must also repent of all our sins,” he charged.

Christianity EtcPROPHECY: Buhari Will Be Distracted In 2017 But Pray For Him – Ogedengbe (PHOTO) by dodoniyi(op): 6:39pm On Dec 27, 2016
One of the very young but pin-point with his prophecies in the country is Warri-based seer, Pastor Isaiah Ogedegbe who has come up with new peeps into the immediate future highlighting 10 things that God told him will happen in 2017.

According to him, “in 2017, His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari will face a hard time while trying to cause a positive change in the economy of Nigeria through his policies. “Some big men in government will try to distract the President of Nigeria from doing what will make Nigeria a great nation.

He urged the people of the nation to “pray that God will give the President of Nigeria good health to continue in office. Cheery news is that in 2017, the people should “pray that the price of fuel will not increase in the country.”

His words: “In 2017, Nigerians will complain that there is inflation in the country. In 2017, pray for peace in the country between the North and the South because I see a contention between the North and the South.

“In 2017, I hear Nigerians saying that the country should be divided. I urge the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) to pray for the country to remain as one.

The nation’s tormentor-in-chief, the Niger Delta Avengers will bomb pipelines in Nigeria”

In an assuring tone, the seer said, “in 2017, soldiers will be sent into the Niger Delta region by the Federal Government. There will be unrest in the South. In 2017, some insurgents will be arrested by the Nigerian military.

Family15-Year-Old Marriage Crashing Over Mouth Action by dodoniyi(op): 5:16pm On Dec 08, 2016
A 15-year-old marriage is about to breakup following the wife's refusal to give her husband a Mouth Action leading him into deserting the house for her.

The 15-year-old marriage between a 42-year-old woman, Fausat Ayinde, and her husband, Lukman Ayinde, is on the verge of collapse over her refusal to give her husband MouthAction.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that Fausat who dragged her husband to a Lagos Island Customary Court sitting in Lagos State, asked for a dissolution of the union because her husband left her over her refusal to suck his manhood.l

Fausat also told the court that her husband also made her feel inferior because of his many complaints and verbal abuse.

Fausat, a fruit seller, said their marital problems started five years ago, when the 45-year-old Lukman, an interior decorator, came back from a job trip to Port Harcourt and asked her to suck his penis.

“When my husband got back from the trip and asked me to suck him, something we have never done since we got married, I knew there must be a reason.

When I refused, he told me that is what other girls do to him outside; and since then, my husband stopped making love to me.”

The mother of two said that her husband also started complaining about her dress sense and her cooking, adding that he packed out of their matrimonial home three years ago, and rented another apartment two houses from her where he stays with another woman.

“I am tired of the marriage; I have reported him to his family countless times but he has refused to change. On November 8, he came to the house to beat me up and pack out my belongings. Since he left, I have been the one responsible for the upkeep of the children,” she added.

Fausat then prayed the court to dissolve the marriage and give her custody of their children though she requested that the husband should be responsible.

But Lukman, however, denied the accusation of his wife that MouthAction was the genesis of their marital problems.
He told the court that the basis of their issues was that his wife did not know how to take care of herself, her home, her man, and children.

He said that on many occasions, he had tried to upgrade her to his taste by buying her dresses, shoes and bags but that she was very stubborn and had refused to change.

“My wife dresses awkwardly and is unattractive. I have complained about her dress sense severally; my wife can wear mismatched top and skirt with dirty flip flop slippers to anywhere.

When I complain, she will say who is looking at her, forgetting that I am her husband; I am looking; I cannot control her.

I cannot introduce her as my wife to my colleagues. She sells on Kofo Abayomi Street in Victoria Island and she meets notable people but she has refused to package herself. She wears jeans skirt to bed, claiming that she is tired anytime I touch her.

She does not know how to take care of the house, her man and the kids,” Lukman said.
However, the Deputy President of the court, Mrs. Opeyemi Olanrewaju, berated him and said he was behaving life a typical African man who sees women as a sex object that he could use and dump.

“You have been with other women and you are comparing her with them; before and after you married her, she gave you two kids there was nothing wrong with her. Now she is no longer good for you.”

The court President, Mr. Awos Awosola ordered that the husband should pay N220, 000 as the arrears of the money for the upkeep of the children on or before December 20, and ordered him not to visit the house again and that the children should be brought to the court whenever he wants to see them.

He urged both parties to maintain peace and adjourned the case to December 28, 2016, for further hearing.

Investment5 Reasons Nigerians Love MMM by dodoniyi(op): 3:28pm On Dec 05, 2016
Several warnings by the Central Bank of Nigeria that the money doubling scheme, MMM, is a scam meant to defraud Nigerians seem to have little effect as the scheme is variously embraced by many

https://static.pulse.ng/img/incoming/origs5523800/8671857979-w640-h640/mmmscam.jpg

Despite attempts by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the National Assembly to curtail the growth of the MMM scheme in the country, many Nigerians see the scheme as the best thing to happen to them since sliced bread.

They see the Ponzi Scheme as a blessing in disguise » with the so-called 30% return on its investments over a short period.

The banks also are furious because they can’t just believe that any deposit scheme can promise a 30% interest rate after 30 days but there are die-hard devotees of MMM who see
nothing wrong in what they do » and are quick to point out the benefits of the scheme despite fears that it would have a serious implication when it crashes.

So why are Nigerians so hellbent on continuing with the scheme if the dangers enumerated by the CBN is so appalling?

Here are 5 top reasons Nigerians have come to fall in love with the MMM Scheme.

1. Easy Money

The lure to make easy money from the scheme is a key factor why Nigerians are not in a hurry to heed the government’s warning to stay away from the scheme.

Nigerians are always quick to embrace any opportunity that gives them fast and easy money without necessarily working for it and MMM presents a chance to get that money and no amount of negativity would make them give up the chance.

They believe that if they invest a token and make a huge profit from it, what is there to lose. So they would rather take the risk than be left out on the bandwagon

2. Financial Problems

The country is in recession and everyone is financially incapacitated, so what is wrong in taking the risk if one can get extra money from it?

Financial problems can hardly leave the mind of a person and any scheme that seems capable of adding extra money into his pocket and augmenting his income is very welcome.

The subconscious mind of a person believes all of his financial problems can be solved and this is why MMM is a perfect place to escape from those problems.

3. Get Rich Quick Syndrome

Many Nigerians would not shy away from any scheme that would make them become rich quickly or overnight and as such, they keep pumping their money into MMM scheme despite stories of losses and ultimate suicide in countries that embraced it before now.

They would swap stories of how someone won millions in the scheme and is now living the life of a big boy, so anyone that tries to stop them is an enemy of progress.

4. Recession

The recession is real in the country and has brought with it untold hardship in the land that has made the average Nigerian unable to meet his financial obligation to his family.

Now the MMM scheme seems to have come to the rescue of Nigerians and they have embraced it with open arms and despite its alleged dark history, Nigerians are pouring their money into the money double venture.

Anything is better than just sitting down doing nothing as no one when the economy will come out of its current situation.

5. High-Interest Rates

According to proponents of MMM scheme, the high-interest rates that come with it is an added attraction. There is no commercial bank in the country today that can boast of rewarding its investors with the 30% interest rate that MMM currently offers and as such, everyone wants to have a piece of the pie.

To some, MMM is a God-sent blessing to relieve Nigerians of the current hardship and as such, they will always see it as one venture they can be sure of getting high-interest rates.

CrimeHow SSS Tortured Man To Death; Then Paid Family N15m To Keep Mum - Premium T by dodoniyi(op): 10:28am On Dec 04, 2016
After “torturing” a man to death, Nigeria’s secret police, SSS, exploited the influence of the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, to pay a paltry N1.5 million compensation to the victim’s family, PREMIUM TIMES has learnt.

At about 2.30 a.m. on April 4, SSS operatives on the trail of a suspect accused of cloning the phone number of the Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, stormed No 37, Aje Street, Pleasure, in the Iyana Ipaja area of Lagos in commando style.

Residents of the address said the operatives scaled the fence of the compound, screaming and threatening as they knocked down doors and shattered ceilings. They rough-handled residents, who thought they were armed robbers as they did not introduce themselves, dragged them from their beds, ordered them out of their apartments and forced them to sit on the dusty ground of the compound.

About an hour later, when they were done harassing the residents, Saheed Eyitayo, 34, a friend to the suspect the operatives were looking for, laid in the dust motionless – beaten to a pulp by the operatives.
One resident, who described the entire experience as “nightmarish,” told PREMIUM TIMES that Mr. Eyitayo was so battered that he couldn’t stand unaided – three operatives had to drag his him into one of the vans the armed men brought with them.

Unfortunately, that was the last time he would be seen alive in public.
The operatives were led to the residence by Adejoke Ogunbona, the wife of the wanted man, Rilwanu Jamiu. While on the run for the alleged crime, Mr. Jamiu, who is now facing trial alongside another suspect, had spent few days at Mr. Eyitayo’s apartment before moving on to another place in the Oke Aro area of Lagos, where he was eventually arrested.

It is not clear if Mr. Eyitayo knew his friend was a fugitive when he allowed him to stay at his apartment.
Mr. Jamiu’s wife had visited her husband while he was hiding at Mr. Eyitayo’s apartment. Though she later confessed that even though she knew her husband was no longer at Mr. Eyitayo’s apartment, she took the SSS operatives there.

SUSPICIOUS DEATH

Three days after the raid, the SSS invited Mr. Eyitayo’s landlord, Mathew Sobiye, to the Lagos office in Shangisha and told him, for the first time, that they had carried out the raid on his compound and that Mr. Eyitayo was dead.

They warned him not to disclose this to anyone, the Septuagenarian said.
The SSS claimed Mr. Eyitayo was resisting arrest on the night of the raid and tried to jump from the moving van as he was being conveyed to their office. They said he died from injuries sustained in the process.

But Mr. Eyitayo’s family would have none of that. They claimed that from account of fellow tenants at his Pleasure residence, he was already unconscious when he was handcuffed and carried into the waiting van.
They wondered how an unconscious man in chains could overpower several SSS operatives and jump to his death. They said if the SSS had nothing to hide, it shouldn’t have waited for 19 days before formally informing them of Mr. Eyitayo’s death.

Michael Lasisi, one of Mr. Eyitayo’s relatives, told PREMIUM TIMES that the SSS waited that long because they were trying to perfect a fabricated story to hide the fact that they tortured Mr. Eyitayo to death.
“We had gone to the SSS office several times, and they told us ‘come back you cannot see him.’ Until finally on the 23rd (of April), 19 days after he was killed, they now told one of my brothers Oyetunji that he had died. Meanwhile they had told the landlord not to tell anybody that he had died.

“They did that so as the days elapsed they would be able to manufacture lies to cover up the official criminality. They could not tell us what he has done. They said his friend was part of those who cloned the governor’s number. They traced the friend to his house but they did not see him.
At a meeting between Mr. Eyitayo’s family and the SSS on May 3 at their Shangisha office, angered by an SSS attempt to implicate Mr. Eyitayo in the number cloning scam, Mr. Lasisi and other family members walked out on the officials of the secret service threatening to drag the agency to court.

“A SHOW OF SHAME”

Not wanting the story of the alleged extrajudicial killing by its operatives out in the open, the SSS approached Mr. Akiolu, the paramount traditional monarch in Lagos, to appeal to the family of the dead man, after its original attempt to use officials of the Lagos State Ministry of Justice failed to assuage Mr. Eyitayo’s family.
Some members of the family said they first suspected that something was fishy when those who had resisted the antics of the Lagos State officials were exempted from the delegation to meet with Mr. Akiolu.

“I think the SSS had told the Oba that some members of the family who gave them a hard time during the initial discussion shouldn’t be allowed to be part of the negotiation. The excuse they gave was that the Oba did not want a crowd in his palace,” a family member, who sought anonymity for security reasons, said.
Several family sources present described the negotiation at the monarch’s palace as a show of shame. They said the moment the SSS offered to pay N15 million, some of the most outspoken members of the delegation suddenly became quiet.

They said Mr. Akiolu doused the flickering flame of resistance from the family members when he appealed to them to accept what the SSS was offering in order to bring a closure to the matter and stop acting like they were there to sell the body of their dead kin.
“The family lawyer put up a spirited effort to make the DSS [as the SSS is also called] pay more compensation, but members of Saheed’s family would have none of that,” an attendee at the meeting said.

“In fact, one of them was stepping on his (lawyer’s) feet and telling him not to be too hard of the DSS and to accept whatever the DSS was offering so that the matter can be settled. The lawyer was almost in tears,” another family source said.
“At a point, they even threatened to fire the lawyer if he would not agree with the decision of the family.”

“One of them said that they should accept the offer of the DSS because the body of Saheed was suffering and they needed to bury him urgently to stop the suffering,” the source said.
Another source, however, added that Mr Akiolu insisted that N10 million be given entirely to the parents of the deceased. He also insisted that the SSS must pay the lawyer’s professional fees.
According to our sources, the five million that was remaining from the compensation paid was shared among members of the deceased’s family involved in the negotiation.

Meanwhile, even as they agreed to accept the compensation, none of the victim’s family members had seen his corpse as the SSS did not disclose where it kept the body.
The family did not also press the SSS to conduct an autopsy on the deceased as required by Lagos State laws for persons who died under suspicious circumstances like Mr. Eyitayo
“The DSS did not allow the family see the corpse of the dead victim before they forced the family to reach a negotiation. That was the plan. When they finished the negotiation, they called Saheed’s uncle to come and look at the body but he was only shown his legs,” one of our sources said.

CUT AND BRUISES ALL OVER

Family members who saw Mr. Eyitayo’s corpse after it was released for burial by the SSS said it dawned on them the reason the agency refused to let his family see the body before the negotiation was concluded and all documents signed.
“If you see the corpse, you would know that he was tortured and killed in a brutal manner. He had two deep cuts in the back of his head, apparently inflicted by a machete or other similar sharp objects. There were cuts and bruises all over his body,” the source said.
As part of the agreement reached with the deceased family, the SSS agreed to foot the bill for his funeral. Mr. Eyitayo’s body was carried to his hometown in Oyo for burial in the most disrespectful manner, the source said.

“If you see the way they carried his body home. They couldn’t even get a proper vehicle to deliver his body to his family.
“They got a rickety vehicle. On their way to Oyo State, the vehicle conveying his body was so old that its tyres bust twice before it got to the town. And they spent several hours on the road fixing the tyres.
“His body was not even put in a casket. He was taken home for burial in a body bag made of jute sack. The type used for keeping rice.

Babs Animashaun, the lawyer who represented the family, declined to discuss details of the negotiation when reached for comments. He however said the family has moved on after settlement.
“That is strictly confidential between the parties. I cannot share the details of the settlement with the public,” he said.
“The family agreed to settle with the SSS out of court. They can never be happy with what has happened but at least they were able to move on. That is what is important,” he added.

The SSS could not be reached for comments. The agency does not have a spokesperson, neither does it have an email address or phone number through which it can be contacted. Before the current administration, the SSS used to have a spokesperson, Marilyn Ogar, but the current leadership of the agency led by Lawal Daura, has refused to appoint one or disclose how it should be officially contacted for enquiries.

PoliticsOkorocha To Imo Women: Circumcise Your Daughter And Go To Jail by dodoniyi(op): 6:43am On Sep 20, 2016

Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha yesterday warned women that female genital mutilation (FGM) will henceforth attract imprisonment.
The governor said as soon as the bill against FGM is passed into law by the House of Assembly, the punishment for offenders would be several years of imprisonment, as the law would specify.
Okorocha, who spoke at the launch of the campaign against FGM, initiated by his wife, Nkechi, in collaboration with United Nations Fund for Population Agency (UNFPA), described the practice as barbaric and unacceptable.
He said: “Barbaric cultures, which are not beneficial to the people, should be abolished.”
The governor urged the House of Assembly to expedite action on the passage of the bill to enable his administration proffer a permanent solution to the problem.
Mrs Okorocha, who led the awareness match with over 500 female students and women against the practice, said Imo State women had vowed to end FGM.
She said the women would not rest until there was end to the practice.
The governor’s wife noted that the practice could lead to death, emotional trauma and broken homes, if left unchecked.
UNFPA’s Country Representative Mrs Beatrice Mukta hailed Mrs Okorocha for her fight against FGM.
She noted that the battle against the practice would not be easy.
The UNFPA chief urged traditional institutions as well as Imo State women to support the governor’s wife in her efforts to end FGM.

PoliticsHunters: We Are Ready To Capture Shekau, Boko Haram Leader by dodoniyi(op): 6:28am On Sep 20, 2016

The Nigerian Hunters Association has said its members would overrun Sambisa forest and capture Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, alive, if given the permission.
Garba Tarfa, who is in charge of the association’s security, in Adamawa, said several hunters were “eager and waiting” for the go-ahead.
“We are ever physically ready at any given time if permitted to besiege Sambisa forest to capture the coward, Shekau, like fowl and his dreaded commanders,” Mr. Tarfa, a retired police officer, said in Yola on Monday.
“We know the nooks and crannies of Sambisa forest. In fact we know exactly where Shekau is hiding in the forest.
“They fear us more than conventional army, because they know we knew their secrets,” Mr. Tarfa said.
He said the Boko Haram Shekau was hiding in Sambisa at a heavily-guarded location codenamed “Parisa”, surrounded by his commanders.
Mr. Tarfa said in the past three months, his members, working with the Army, intensified attacks on suburbs of Sambisa forest and rescued over 500 women and children.
He said during the attacks, about 50 Boko Haram members were either killed, injured or arrested and handed over to security.
He said the insurgency would be ended if the government worked more closely with hunters. He said the group would need logistical support and patrol vehicles.
He also accused the authorities of paying more attention to the missing Chibok girls than other women and children abducted by Boko Haram.
