As much as they have my sympathies, they are illegal miners operating in an unlicensed mining site.
Anyone who has been to these mining sites in Plateau state knows that they are usually deep underground,meandering in nature, are dug with bare hands without sufficient support structures left to support the weight of the ground above. These deaths happen all the time. This one is in the news due to the number possibly.

These miners do not pay taxes to the state nor local government. Maybe some backhanded kick-backs to the local government but nothing official.

We cannot be burning and bombing crude refineries the boys in the Niger Delta are using to provide for themselves while turning a blind eye to illegal mining in Plateau state and all over Nigeria. It is either the entire resources in Nigeria belongs to all of us and we all collectively benefit or each people should be allowed to explore their resources as they see fit!

There is NNPC for petrol in the Niger Delta. Where is NNGC for the gold in Zamfara? Where is NNLC for the lithium in Nasarawa state? Enough is enough abeg.
