SJS is a drug reaction anybody can have if you r prone to it. It is neither the doctor or the company is liable here. Since there is no molecular biology tech in most hosp in developing countries there is.little anybdy can do. The doctor only needs to hv asked for personal or family history of sjs. The company is not at fault in any way nor the doctor if he ask for adequate info from d patient before prescribing d drug. Even paracetamol can cause sjs.

@Acidosis and miss, It is not a pharmcologist that is needed here but a moleculr biologist who would have determine his HLA. Even if his HLA is determined it is not 100% accurate to say he will have sjs with d drug or not.

This is a welcome development. People wait for ages in Nigeria before being made a Professor when they are clearly qualified. In developed countries you will see young profs in their late thirties and fourties but in my country naija, na until grey hair don dey comot for your head. Many were denied becos of politics in the university system. One thing I have noticed about the North is that when you are qualified for something they give it to you especially their own people. Most northern hospitals were the first to comply with new directives on doctors' salary meanwhile their other counterparts were busy complaining. I remember the case of late Professor Awojobi whom unilag refused to appoint him as professor cos of his age despite being overqualified. When he got to a united kingdom university for a program, the university there quickly appoints him as a professor. Congrats to the young professor.
