NgeneUkwenu: THE POSTPONED 'EVIL DAY' IS NOW HERE, BUT...
With the depletion in the country's incomes occasioned by the slide in global oil price coupled with the devilish militant activities in the Niger Delta area, ONLY a hypocrite will be surprised at the economic woes that have hit the country!
The confirmation by the National Bureau of Statistics that Nigeria's economy is now in downturn did not come as a surprise to me. From the days of my elementary Economics class, when we were told that the country was a mono-economy, I knew that this 'padded' reality would one day evaporate before our eyes.
Having willingly laid all our eggs in one basket for many years-and stupidly so-we ought to have anticipated this disaster. But we chose to play the Ostrich. We had sufficient notice of this avoidable calamity but we failed to make haste while the sun shone.
There is no amount of economic jargons, lamentations, criticisms or anger that will rescue the country from this SELF-INFLICTED pains other than economic diversification and prudent spending of the nation's earnings. Thankfully, the present administration has already set the motion in this regard. This effort should be sustained regardless...
I believe In Buhari/ APC!

The fact is that the military already has enough intelligence on the ijaw and they are working hard to reduce the casualty of innocent people. Never again will the nation handover security of national assets or waterways to any militant, that single unpatriotic decision by GEJ gave the militants access to the oil and gas pipelines architecture for them to mine ahead of the declaration of the presidential election results |

Politics › Presidency Orders Investigation Of Those Linked To Panama Papers by dokunbam(op): 9:28pm On Aug 19, 2016 |
The presidency has order the investigation of those Nigerians named in the leaked Panama Papers. This was revealed by the chairman of the Code Of Conduct Bureau, Sam Saba. He revealed this to Premium Times as he asked the newspaper help in acquiring the leaked Panama Papers. He said he had earlier tried to download the leaked document online so he can begin studying the case. But he was asked to pay some amount of money to download the documents online. Money which he claimed not to have, until someone directed him to get the documents from Premium Times as they had earlier on published the report. The report which reveal large scale corruption all over the world involving well known world figure like David Cameron, Russian President, Vladimir Putin and other world leaders. The Panama Papers also have lots of Nigerians on the list, most of them top politicians and businessmen trying to hide money. Notable on the Panama Paper are Senate President, Bokula Saraki and Former Senate President, David Mark. Saraki is believed to have properties that are hidden through shell companies that he failed to declare. And David Mark, who according to the Panama Paper might be one of the richest men in the country. The Chairman of the CCB admits that the list of Nigerian was forwarded by the presidency but it is yet to be made public. http://www.gidiblitz.com/index.php/78-news/22239-presidency-orders-investigation-of-those-linked-to-panama-papers |

Aufbauh: Any responsible and responsive government will not have overlooked such weighty allegations made against GEJ & his co-travelers considering the modus operandi and the demands of those militants.
Their complicity was strengthened by the fact that there was a dead silence from the NDA after the RNDA disclosure and their threat to spill more of the beans if there is rebuttal. |
Sports › Mikel, Two Nigeria Players Had Yellow Card Cancelled by dokunbam(op): 5:12pm On Aug 17, 2016 |
There is a good news coming from Brazil as the yellow card issued to John Mikel Obi in the game against Denmark has been canceled by FIFA. John Mikel Obi and two other Nigeria players Muenfuh Sincere and Usman Muhammed benefitted from this decision as they will be yellow card free going to play against Germany. John Mikel Obi who is the captain of the side is an instrumental figure in the team and with the yellow card hanging of his head going to the game against Germany, there were fears that he might miss the final if he gets another yellow card if Nigeria beats Germany. Mikel benefitted from this new rule by FIFA, that suspends yellow card gotten in the knockout stage going to the semifinals. FIFA was concerned about important and key players missing out on the finals because of suspension through yellow card. Nigeria Olympic football team is fighting for a medal as they play Germany today in Brazil to secure a place to the finals. Nigeria winning the game today will give the country hope of at least a silver medal, while if they lose, they will have to go and play a third place match for the bronze medal. http://gidiblitz.com/index.php/91-sport/22220-mikel-two-nigeria-players-had-yellow-card-cancelled |

klassic: Short memory ...hmmmm ! What about the Chinese loan in yuan? He is not borrowing indeed . What is that word again for short memory? Nigeria Offered $6bn Chinese Loan, Agrees Currency Swap to Shore up Naira 127 •President orders establishment of technical c’ttees on joint projects •Dangote signs $2bn loan for cement plants, local firm closes granite mining deal Tobi Soniyi in Abuja and Zacheaus Somorin in Lagos with agency reports China has offered Nigeria a $6 billion loan to fund infrastructure projects, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Geoffrey Onyema, said yesterday in Beijing the Chinese capital. “It is a credit that is on the table as soon as we identify the projects,” he told reporters travelling with President Muhammadu Buhari to China. “It won’t need an agreement to be signed; it is just to identify the projects and we access it,” he said. The confirmation by Onyema coincided with an agreement reached between Nigeria and China yesterday on a currency swap deal, as it looks for ways to shore up the naira and fund a record budget deficit, possibly by issuing yuan-denominated bonds in China, reported Reuters. Nigeria is facing its worst economic crisis in decades as sinking oil prices eat into its foreign reserves and the naira weakens against other currencies. http://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2016/04/13/nigeria-offered-6bn-chinese-loan-agrees-currency-swap-to-shore-up-naira/ |

Standing5: Take bread for example, had GEJ's cassava bread strategy produced any meaningful result, the price of bread wouldn't be double today. Don't forget that sugar, another major component of bread is largely prnduced in Nigeria. The bad policies & wastages during all our years of excess fund is the cause of current economic predicament. I keep saying it, Buhari has already exceeded expectations. To postpone the doomsday the way he did and be paying paying salary with ease he has scored 120% already. |
