With the depletion in the country's incomes occasioned by the slide in global oil price coupled with the devilish militant activities in the Niger Delta area, ONLY a hypocrite will be surprised at the economic woes that have hit the country!

The confirmation by the National Bureau of Statistics that Nigeria's economy is now in downturn did not come as a surprise to me. From the days of my elementary Economics class, when we were told that the country was a mono-economy, I knew that this 'padded' reality would one day evaporate before our eyes.

Having willingly laid all our eggs in one basket for many years-and stupidly so-we ought to have anticipated this disaster. But we chose to play the Ostrich. We had sufficient notice of this avoidable calamity but we failed to make haste while the sun shone.

There is no amount of economic jargons, lamentations, criticisms or anger that will rescue the country from this SELF-INFLICTED pains other than economic diversification and prudent spending of the nation's earnings. Thankfully, the present administration has already set the motion in this regard. This effort should be sustained regardless...

Did you read the part where the deputy governor, who is a retired senior military officer and Nembe indigene intervened?I don't think you know the extent that helped to calm the situation, they were given deadline to produce the culprits and who born them well wey dem no go comply?
The fact is that the military already has enough intelligence on the ijaw and they are working hard to reduce the casualty of innocent people. Never again will the nation handover security of national assets or waterways to any militant, that single unpatriotic decision by GEJ gave the militants access to the oil and gas pipelines architecture for them to mine ahead of the declaration of the presidential election results

Any responsible and responsive government will not have overlooked such weighty allegations made against GEJ & his co-travelers considering the modus operandi and the demands of those militants.

Their complicity was strengthened by the fact that there was a dead silence from the NDA after the RNDA disclosure and their threat to spill more of the beans if there is rebuttal.

Take bread for example, had GEJ's cassava bread strategy produced any meaningful result, the price of bread wouldn't be double today. Don't forget that sugar, another major component of bread is largely prnduced in Nigeria.
The bad policies & wastages during all our years of excess fund is the cause of current economic predicament. I keep saying it, Buhari has already exceeded expectations. To postpone the doomsday the way he did and be paying paying salary with ease he has scored 120% already.
