@Dolemite,
You think your mother is a fool for telling you what you said she told you? May God help you not to ignore her wise counsel. Your mother has done the best for you by showing you the way of God and if you think she is wrong you will have yourself to blame. You people that call yourself atheists and are ashamed to make it open to your family and people around has once again proved that you are on the wrong side. Somebody is talking about christians in the north who are not bold enough to say they are christians. Its a big lie. Any strong christian who is sure of his stand and relationship with God cannot hide being a christian in the North. When we talk about Christians its not just by saying it or going to church, you must live it as a lifestyle and you can only live it as a life when you are genuinely Born Again. Washed with the blood of Jesus.
Its quite painful that most of you atheists were born into a christian family nurtured in the ways of God. After all the efforts by your parents, you threw away this precious heritage they gave you. PAINFUL. MAY GOD DELIVER YOU PEOPLE.
Firstly, I don't think my mother is a fool, just misguided. Secondly I hide my beliefs or lack of it because my family is madly religious and I will be persecuted daily if I come out openly, plus I was a Christian once upon a time and if someone told me then that there was no God, I would've wept for them, poor soul going straight to hell for eternity to burn without cease, I can't make my mother think that of me. And you talk about Christians in the north being brave about their religion, I laugh. . .if peter could deny the man who walked on water, multiplied the fish and loaves and did all these fantastic things, what chance does the average Joe in Sokoto have? It's easy to say I can defend my religion anywhere, even peter claimed he'd die for Jesus  grin, I'd like to see how you survive there in an intolerant society of Muslims.

And don't you think something is definitely wrong when children of Christian parents often grow up to become atheists? George Carlin, Bill Maher, Beko Ransome Kuti. . .not wrong with the parents but the religion. I know how you feel, we're so ignorant, flocking like sheep to the slaughter, going straight to hell I once preached it so I understand why you think think this.
CelebritiesRe: Young And Inspiring Nigerians Under 40 by Dolemite(f): 7:48am On Sep 22, 2010
Miley Cyrus, Jonas brothers and those your so called child stars are sex symbols for pubescent teens, nothing more nothing less, they don't inspire anyone, we don't need that crap here, and we do have inspiring Nigerian children, like Paula and Peter Imafidon who passed their AS-level at only seven, kids mustn't be singers or dancers to be considered inspiring, there are a lot of unsung heroes out there doing fantastic things. . .and what has Genevieve done to be number one I wonder  undecided nice list though, more research should have been done though.

http://www.imafidon.com/
Uk's brainiest family are Nigerians. cool

toba:
I beg comot seun the Godless soul from that list. Hes one of those that claim theres no God
Someone with a different view or belief from yours should be discriminated against just on that basis? sad.

I believe age might be a factor, mostly for a young person with devotion, which happens to be the attitude of young men like me! grin
Could also be a mental thing? if you go around telling people they're too old to learn something that's the first defeat right there. Impossible is nothing.
Now the argument is the older brain lacks the deep structures or whatever needed to learn programming, if this is the case can't one change the learning pattern? there are numerous books out there on learning Tony Buzan etc.

ProgrammingRe: Programming Really Is For The Young by Dolemite(f): 6:00pm On Sep 18, 2010
Age helps, but it's not the main factor to success. Scientists have discovered that if you do something continuously for 10,000 hours for example 5 hours a day for 5 years, you'd achieve genius status.
Christianity EtcRe: Open Atheists by Dolemite(f): 5:33pm On Sep 18, 2010
"If you are not for God, you are for the devil" says my mother, so I'm an atheist in the closet although family members are beginning to notice.
