QuoteJust1nce: you already answered your own question, so nobody needs to do any test. even 50W will cook rice eventually, thought it might take a very long time, whereas 2100W will take a shorter time. My setup is a 8.5kWp / 6kW/ 16kWh combo so i can use 2100W without stress and be done with cooking in minutes to under an hour. If your capacity is smaller, reduce the power and of course, wait longer for the food to get ready. It' just black and white. You are already NEPA na. |

zenith4biz: The reason it will be difficult is that at the watt it goes off intermittently, since it's surface is not always hot there will be no heat to sustain it before it comes up again, at that level it's good for warming food A friend confirmed this today. Good cooking begins from 800w. 400 to 600w for warming as it cuts off/on. Thanks |
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by dollarnaira(m): 5:01pm On Apr 28 |
fuckboys: I haven't tried that, I tried 500w to warm spaghetti and it was okay. Then 500w should be able to boil water along with substances. Some us waste energy boiling rice and beans with plenty heat. These substances need slow cooking because the objective is to make them soft unlike cooking soup. |

litaninja: lol. You'll expend the same amount of energy eventually for same amount of rice Yes obviously but to confirm such settings first is very important.Example, Why voraciously boil water at 1000w for 4mins when same can work for 9mins at 400w since both run on different inverter capacities. Most homes will comfortably pump water with 0.5h (about 800w real life) say within 30mins to fill up 1000L but some want it fast at 15min with 1hp or higher for example. Both have different surge power plus other factors. The goal is the final result - water. |

Even 1000w on the cooker is very fast, I haven't even gone past that since 2 days using it. Help try out 400w for me pls. We too boil rice for here . |

Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by dollarnaira(m): 2:14pm On Apr 26 |
CuteMaro: It only displays temperature for that option. However, I just successfully cooked my first beans with it at max temperature which is 270°C.
Max rating is 1800w, so I guess it should be at about that.
Took about an hour to cook 5 cups of beans.
Mama Home and Fouani go dey wonder why orders are suddenly spiking... Alright bro Thanks |
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by dollarnaira(m): 12:04pm On Apr 26 |
CuteMaro: Yes the default option here is 'Fry' which is rated in temperature instead of wattage. Following your recommendation, I had to set to 200 degrees and adjust the timer to my taste which surprisingly cooks fast. Thanks.
The mama home's is growing on me, now I can confidently recommend it!
Finally figured it out @zenith4biz @CuteMaro At what wattage is the 200°C that surprisingly cook fast please? Make see if I fit join this train. |

osayuwamwen: na till weekend I fit do this, but it is not going to be fast boiling a 1litre of water at 300watt, I notice when the induction cooker is set to 2100watt the actual power draw is abt 1.6kw almost same thing with my hotplate of 1.5kw but the induction cooker is way faster at boiling water at full power For you to agree to this alone is very cool. Weekend is almost here. Thanks a lot. |
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by dollarnaira(m): 9:03pm On Apr 21 |
osayuwamwen: is this not infrared ? for clarity purposes on the induction cooker,1000watt on the induction cooker is actually 1000watt my refrigerator and fan was on that was what make it 1.3kw, but once the induction cooker is set below 1000watt the actual power draw will be fluctuating btw below the power set and above the power set on the induction cooker like example when u set at 800watt the actual power will fluctuate BTW 716watt to 1.1kw Bros no be infrared be this o. Me get just one question ❓ Pls set it to 200 or 300w and give me update. E get why I dey ask I beg. Minutes to boil 1.5L of water at 300w or less. No vex ooo |

OCTAVO: My impression of Henry LiFePo4 Lithium battery. I bought 3pcs of 24v-100ah. To my utmost surprise, when I checked the capacity on their BMS app, I can see that the cells of each battery unit is not up to 100ah. 100ah battery should show full 100ah or 100,000mah. Infact, some brands will give you 103ah for 100ah. It's either they sold used cells which are grade B, or the cells are new grade A but not complete. You can see the screenshot from the BMS app below: First battery's full capacity is 96,210mah (96.21ah) Second battery's full capacity is 97,010mah (97.01ah) Third battery's full capacity is 99,630mah (99.63ah) If you don't mind the disparity, then you can buy from them. It is a good buy bro. 100ah cells only cost roughly between 200 and 240k. Here you got cells, terminals, smart bms and casing. It is a fantastic buy sir. 4ah short is not a critical worry... |

Pbaelish: Thanks. Wanted advice on what inverter to go as you said you using 12v 4kwh battery and I'm planning on getting a 12v 4kwh battery too. Want to go for higher watts panels (currently using 400w)so need advice on what12v 1.5 upward hybrid inverter that can handle higher panels properly. Thanks. 1 set of 400w cannot charge 4kwh in a day. Some 12v hybrid begin from 20v to 450v. Everything is dependent on your daily loads. I don't use hybrid. I make use of modular set up- Cc and satchet inverters. Don't follow my course, my ways are unconventional. |

bassdow: I doubt anyOne is saying 12v system wouldn't work. What we saying is, it can't work as Good as 24v or 48v system Baba do you know that there are many appliances out there with great lower wattage? Just yesterday I ran 2 freezers with a sumo on it? It was as if I did nothing. Sumo ran for about 18mins. There are better inverters for this purpose. Now, there are inverter ac (400w or less ) at moderate temperature and up there induction cooker with 300w or so. So what are we not saying? |

cyif2003: Good day .. y does everyone seem to say a 12 volt system is not worth it. Inverter nd bayyery wise. Most people say minimum is a 24volt system. Don't be deceived! You can do wonders with a 12v set up. I recently upgraded from 12v to 12v bigger battery. Na sense. 12v since 2011 till date.... There are efficient appliances now with low wattage e.g ac, cooker, submersible etc. Na who get sense they use inverter. Na who get sense they use solar. |

adibo: Good morning all. I have come again. Please, I am considering getting an AC for my room to be used only at night. I have 8kwh lithium battery, if the battery is at above 90% at least by 11pm, will it be able to power an AC from maybe 11pm - 6am without running the battery down? I was advised to buy a 1hp inverter AC?
Those who are experienced with this, kindly advise. How many watts will a 1hp inverter AC consume at the lowest setting? Will this be able to cool a small room sufficiently?
If yes, pls, what are the best brands to buy? I have seen LG, THERMOCOOL.
Please, I need as many responses as possible. Thanks in advance Daikin Royal windfree About 600k Saw great reviews I don't personally use one for now but planning ahead too. |

Tdoctor: If you are doing DIY, please crimp your wires well, and get a tool if possible. I was having issues with my cables burning one after the other (17 kwh battery running >5000 W at peak). Until a friend came by and found out my cables were not crimped well. - That is why some people have hydraulic crimping tools. I lost several cable lugs and wire sections before I saw the issue. Crimping with muscle and pliers and crimping with a crimping tool is not the same. Your muscle cannot out-crimp a crimping tool. - If you are not ready to spend and learn, leave DIY and buy from people who know what they are doing. There are so many things battery builders and other solar specialists have learnt from painful experiences. For instance, where they source materials, as there are too many fake products. (I have bought more than 7 improperly rated breakers; the last one I changed was tripping at 40A, although it was rated 63A). Don't cheap out on important components. - Stay on this thread and learn. Read and read and know there is still more to learn. In DIY, you will first spend MORE before you spend LESS. - This thread gave me the courage to build a 17kwh battery myself, at greater overall cost than Valto or Reed, cos I made some mistakes and had to buy some tools, but my subsequent builds should be less expensive. I knew it would be that way but I still went in for it. - I think we should also state our failures more often, so others will learn. Learn from other people's pain and tears. I have trust issues with anything that requires crimping. I just go safe by soldering directly especially mc4 wahala. |
