To those running solar, I'm just curious. When last did you use your generator? Did you have to sell it after installing your solar?

You just woke a memory in me with this question. 3years without a generator running. I need to go check it out tomorrow.

Have always wanted to make a smal pack for a rechargeable fan, but my concern is charger to use and where to get bms. Can you pls detail your process.

The charging profile of the fan fits. The problem is the bms that will cut off at 12v is the issue here. Unless you act as the living bms i.e monitoring spirit grin. I am a living bms though.

Hello Chief.
I'm curious. If batteries have short shelf life, how do manufacturers and sellers store them in their stock before sale which may take months?

Most of us store batteries above norminal voltage which is the beginning of degradation. Store batteries at norminal voltage for a period of time and charge once in 60 days. Lithium ion can stay longer than LifePO4 but LifePO4 has lifespan of roughly 10yrs while lithium ion is less than 4 or 5 both at 80%.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by dollarnaira: 2:17pm On May 06
jonescosmos:

Please do not store your Lithium Batteries for too long without trickle charging them from at max 3 months interval.
They might gradually deplete beyond DOD and you might need to jump start them and there are also chances that some of the cell might not operate as normal as should be after that.
Lithium Cell Warrantee does not cover this scenario.

PLEASE TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY

Definitely bro
Obviously true.
Trying to compare.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by dollarnaira: 8:18am On May 06
jonescosmos:

Buy them in this order: Inverter>Battery>Panels.

Reason: Inverter has a long shelf life, Batteries has a short shelf life, Keep them too long, they would sulphate or discharge beyond DOD, Panels will be exposed to breakage and other risks when you stock them.

Secondly, you can start using your Inverter & Battery when you grab the batteries and add Panels later.

Third is that the price fluctuations affects Inverters and Batteries more than Panels.

I hope this helps

Depends on type of batteries
Lithium generally has nothing to do with sulphation.

The landlord has a share of the problems too. Whenever I hear or read about a client that went with an Installer to market, or went to market themselves and then wants an installer to come install, especially when the client has little to no knowledge of market tricks or installation experience, I just feel they are setting themselves up for trouble.

I recently had a client that wanted to install a 5kva, 15kwh lithium system. I was recommended to him.

I went there did audit, discussed different options bla bla bla. I drew up three different quotes later and sent to this guy, after days of market searching and what not.

After sending him the quotes, my guy said he has run low on cash and is waiting for salary for the month. Month end camd and went still no response, so I sent some messages but he didn't reply after reading my messages. I contacted the wife to ask if he was ok, she said yes that he is just having car issues and is repairing it. I was wondering why car problems will make you not reply simple Whatsapp chat.

I just went silent and went about my normal life.

Few days later, baba called that he is in Alaba, he has gotten the battery, the inverter, this, that...I was like 😳...then he said he wants to pick up panels that should speak with tye seller to confirm if they are original etc. I turned down the request that's I don't do that, especially since that is someone's business and I didn't direct him there.

Long story short, he bought fake panels (likely 250w rebadged as 400w), over priced protection devices setup, not very original PV cables etc etc. At the end of the day, he was still complaining that he spent more than his budget. I just 🤐

It is the issue of trust that most installers exhibit that will make most clients do this. Most installers will add thier entire problems on materials and still buy fake at the end. It is better for a client to shoot himself in the leg than someone else. No be person add over 1million to a product here?

To curb client like this, one will go with him to the market together while he makes payment. Give him the cost of installation and move.

Shawarma and Hotdogs.

As for me, I chose my meals based on their nutritional values, not based on their tastes or their appearances. So, I so much like Editan and Periwinkles.

Noodles tastes great but I avoid it because it is not just starch but artificial starch. The same applies to Macaroni and Spaghetti. I rather soak Garri that is natural.

How did you eat the Abacha? Your claim is like that of someone who takes Pap without adding Sugar or anything else to the Pap and asserts that Pap is tasteless. Some bad cooks can make you hate Abacha. You may also hate Abacha if you eat the one mixed with the liquid substance called Ncha. The Ncha tastes like soapy water. I hate it in Abacha but people claim that the Ncha cleans stomach.

One thing I have discovered on this thread is that many commenters are condemning certain foods based on just one-time experience in the hands of terrible cooks. How can one say that Okpa tastes bad? I know at least 3 white men that like Okpa so much.

Another person speaks ill of Amala and Ewedu. I am not a Yoruba. But Amala and Ewedu do not taste bad. I must confess that the appearance of Amala and Ewedu is not enticing. I must also confess that the first time I ate it was in one local and unkept "mama put" and it didn't taste nice. But I later began to eat Amala and Ewedu after I tasted the one prepared by good cooks.

If you ate bread you should eat noodles as both are products of flour.

While i have resisted the urge to respond to many posts here, I have to state the following about Hybrid Inverters:

If your are stuck with the idea that HYBRIDS are not good, You will be left behind just like those who said Automatic Transmission Vehicles were bad far back in 1990-1998. Obviously they were left behind while many have learnt to adapt to the new technology and today, little or no one wants a Manual Transmission Vehicle anymore.

Why don't you print the Checklist of a Hybrid installation and sort out the prerequisites one by one and go ahead to install your Hybrid Inverter?
These might include but not limited to:
Proper Earthing
Use of SPDs
Use of breakers
Use of Voltage Protectors or Regulators
Proper Ventilation of installation Site
Proper Cable Sizing
Proper Choice of Inverter
Proper Choice of Panels and Capacities
Proper Panel Sloping Angle
Determination of Daily Sun Hours
ETC ETC ETC

I have always maintained that in Nigeria, Please people should rate their panels at NOTC. e get why.
Why because our roofing pattern are mostly not planed for Solar panel integration, Our atmosphere is full of impurities (if rain no fall for 2 days, dust go cover your panels).
Nigeria's optimum solar production angle has been proven to be best at 9 degrees angle facing south ( how many buildings in Nigeria has this?)
Sun wan shine for Nigeria, the Temperature go almost reach 40 degrees Celsius (Panels don't like this) Yes panels need sunlight but they don't light excessive heat too.

All these and many more factors mostly accounts for why we install a 600W x10 panels and end up getting 4000w or less max production. Take those same panels to another location, which naturally maintain STC and you will get accurate production as rated from the manufacturers.

And for the Anti-Hybrid campaigners, continue, you will be left out eventually. No offense please.
We never even drive Hybrid Cars finish, Oyimbo people don leave am for us and take up Full electric vehicles, Once fuel scarce for an hour and the situations at our fuel stations will be chaotic.

How else do we convince y'all that HYBRIDS ARE HERE TO STAY?

Agreed to the above but nobody is saying they won't stay but the choice is still upon everyone. The most important thing is the end result, advantages and disadvantages, cost, ease of repairs etc.

Every car get im own advantage and disadvantage, the end result is to move from point A to B ; same applies to off-grid / hybrid inverters all will give power to your appliances. I use a powMr with 600w pv but producing close to 500w. Am I satisfied? Yes!!!

The Uk till now still drive Manual cars. Most trucks are manual etc. Every technology have advantages and disadvantages. Everyone here will make a choice at the end of the day. By the way, I still drive Manual car and na my choice.

Lastly, msw, cc configured for lead acid only, off grid inverters with lvd of 10.5v etc are still sold in the market.

Good afternoon all. I want to appreciate everyone for their advice and help, I was finally able to get my inverter system set up. Mercury 2.4kva hybrid, two 220ah mercury batteries and three 475w Jinko panels. I have been enjoying it since 5th of this month, it has been a wonderful experience, 24 hours light since then. My fridge is always on from morning till about 6pm.I also use it for ironing and blending, and for my washing machine. It was installed by one of us here - solarengr

Well,it is cool.
That iron part should be done with good sunlight. Don't try it with in the evening. Things are still very new here.
