My solar panels ain't harvesting enough to charge my battery and power my fridge during the day like they used to before... I know the orientation of the roof I mounted the panels isn't facing the sun directly, but it was better during raining season... Now that it's dry season and the sun is shining well every day, yet I don't get enough power from the panels.... I read about angle of inclination of the sun to the panels this winter solstice period. Yes, my panels are almost backing the sun instead of facing it... I just want to know if that's what is really affecting the harvest or there might be something else... No, the panels are not covered in dust... Just not sure what's the issue... Anyone with such experience or recommendations should help me out please.

Did you physically check for the dust?

Just imagine,
Nigerians are the problems of Nigeria.

When we say we are our own problem they start grumbling.....

Okay listen to these examples:

1. You sell chicken and add over 40% profit ,you are happy forgetting that the person that bought the chicken sells tomatoes and pepper.

2. the tomatoes and pepper seller has to recover the excess she paid for the chicken, so she adds her own 42% profit margin.

3. Teacher will come and buy these 2 items with what? She has no other alternative than to increase lesson fees or school fees.

4. You will go and rent house from a landlord who has paid excess for cement, sand, chicken, tomatoes and pepper, lesson fees, how will he meet up if not by increasing his house rent by 60%.

And the circle continues, it is not about dollars, dollars is just an excuse, abi wetin concern garri, beans and yam with dollars.

The problem is you and I and our excessive greed.

And for the bad and corrupt politicians since 1960 up till present that took our darling nation 100 years back.
They will never go Scot free in their looting and criminal lifestyle.....including their supporters.

Back to the topic,
But as for ALL of us at dem MANNABBQGRlLLS........
As long as God lives.....

People don dey chop "grass" now o.
The economy is carzy.
Fake drinks, soaps, perfumes etc everywhere all in the name of " I must survive".

For me, a non-metalic roof tiles e.g slate, with at least 4-inches gap between the solar panel and the roof should be enough most times. Then for those with Zinc or Aluminium roof sheet, if installer get time to help them, hmm. Most consideration mostly na for large installations.
Out of sight is safe abeg. For this country wey common to park motor go piss na wahala.

Since your journey on Solar business, how many have you installed this way ? I try to focus more on reality. Once again, I rather leave this to those who could afford it. And when I say "afford", I don't mean the space alone, but the security + safety also.

Imagine make children dey play (e.g football) for compound, or make person wey wan park motor go reverse put head another place OR make people wey dey play ball for street go fire shot wey enter una compound.

Say glass house + very low fence fine, no mean say na any how place dem dey get such house.

Mine is on the fence.
Safety yes.

For which space ?

Except you're the only person in such compound, this's even more risky because anyone fit spoil or break am (un)intensionally.

To me, I prefer roof mounts because it reduces chances of someone coming in contact with them.
Moroever why waste space that otherwise could be used for something else. People like us with over 20 panels, how much space you wan make we use ?
Oyinbo wey plenty of us dey copy, don dey try roof-Farming,...

Note too that pv performs better in this form or on the ground because it allows for proper orientation, airflow and regular cleaning. These factors affect solar yield. INSTALLING PANELS ON ROOF WILL NEVER GIVE YOU OPTIMUM PERFORMANCE OVER TIME.

A tenant can actually do something like this. Infact, me personally, I don't like panels on the roof.

The fence is another area ppu don't look esp without surrounding buildings causing shades.

Cut your appliances to sth reasonable and see how sweet to own an inverter system

You can use lithium batteries with your UPS but you will need a compatible battery charger. Don't charge with the UPS

Hello, bro. Keenly following this thread. Is it advisable to use UPS to power li-ion batteries? I read in a blog that most Nigerian UPS are built for lead-acid batteries. Please, throw more light on this, so I can continue from where I left off

DO NOT TRY IT!!!

Except Ac and iron.

Note at 11.0 or slightly below it won't power freezer due to surge. Every others work even at 10v

I thought it was the function of a bms to balance the cells by itself.

Buying a liitokla 18650 battery charger is too expensive.

Bms will balance only what is right.

I charged them, but not fully charged, I have solder all of them together, but only in parallel connection.
While in parallel connection, they'll balance themselves.
This morning when I tested the voltage, they were.

3.69
Not bad but you need to know the voltage of each cell. Since you didn't have the right devices to work this process effectively, disconnect all negative terminals and observe again for self discharged cells after some days. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT.

Without needed patience your build will turn bad.

I waited for more than 3 weeks in my case just to be sure of things.

Who dey build lithium ion pack no dey hurry o.
