PoliticsRe: Saraki, Shettima Eulogise Goodluck Jonathan by domejike(m): 10:15am On Dec 01, 2017
OceanmorganTrix:
Former President Goodluck Jonathan was never desperate for power but got there by providence, the President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki, said on Thursday.

He stated this on Thursday in Abuja at the unveiling of a book titled “On a Platter of Gold” written by Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress.

Saraki, who was the chief host of the occasion, said “a country produces the kind of leadership it gets’’.

“I think it is us Nigerians, that produce the kind of leaders we get; no matter what you say about Jonathan, I don’t think he was someone who was desperate for power,” he said.

He added that Jonathan was not someone that was prepared for leadership but became the president of the country either by “misfortune or fortune”.

The president of the Senate added that it was unfortunate that Nigerians knew the right things to do, would not do it but would keep playing the blame game.

He expressed optimism that the book would be cherished by Nigerians going by its quality.

In his remarks, Gov. Kashim Shettima of Borno said that there was the need for the political class to place national interest above other considerations to ensure the country`s development.

The governor, who was the chairman of the occasion, also tasked politicians to work assiduously towards building the country in the interest of all.

He spoke extensively on the Peoples` Democratic Party and President Goodluck Jonathan`s administration, saying that though Jonathan was a “decent person“, he was surrounded by wrong people.

“Sadly, Borno was the epicentre of the crisis that engulfed the Jonathan administration; I think President Jonathan is essentially a decent person, an unsophisticated country politician caught up in the vortex of power politics in Nigeria.

“When the Chibok girls saga started, they made the president to believe that there was no abduction, that the Chibok girls were kidnapped by the governor of Borno,” he said.

Shettima said that Jonathan believed the story, which was meant to embarrass his administration.

“I was in Chibok, my wife was in Chibok and there was a global outcry on the issue, but Jonathan was in a world of his own created by the clowns and also the misfits around him,’’ he said.

He added that in spite of the situation, Jonathan was an honest man.

According to the governor, sheer display of bad governance, lack of political sagacity and will-power squandered the enormous goodwill the Jonathan administration commanded.

He said that such situation consequently got him voted out of office in 2015.

Shettima disclosed that because of Jonathan`s honesty, “he recently confided in Sen. Ben Bruce that his major undoing was his poor relationship with the Borno governor’’.

He wished Jonathan luck in his retirement, saying “ he can redeem himself by serving God, humanity and Africa.”

The governor insisted that rather than emphasising issues of restructuring the country, efforts should be made to improve governance.

“Let us work for the people, invest in education and create jobs for our people,’’ he said.

The occasion was attended by APC National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun and members of the party’s National Working Committee.

Also in attendance were some ministers, representative of Emir of Ilorin and members of Kwara House of Assembly.

The book chronicled the ascension of Jonathan, the power play, and the intrigues that led to his loss of power in the 2015 presidential election.

PoliticsRe: We Will Not Use Military Force Against Fulani Herdsmen - FG by domejike(m): 2:18pm On Sep 18, 2017
naijahut:
The Federal Government has ruled out the use of military might to subdue the attacking force of rampaging Fulani herdsmen.

Minister of Interior, Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau, retd, while featuring on a Channels Television programme, “Question Times” on Sunday night said deployment of the military to combat the Fulani herdsmen menace was not an option because, the situation has not overwhelmed the police yet.

According to the Minister, “We must protect the country which is the main function of the police. The Civil Defence are there to complement them too.

“This is a non-military issue that borders on law and order. It is not every security issue that you call in the military. It is the responsibility of the police to maintain peace. I believe that if we put the police in proper position in terms of discharging its functions, then there would be no need for military option. The police are equal to the task. If you have to deploy the army, then you are going above board. In any case, I do not even have the power to deploy the military for anything. It is only when the situation gets out of hand that you invite the military.”

Recall that Fulani herdsmen have in recent past attacked several villages across the country, killing scores of people

Christianity EtcRe: The Devil Is Powerless Without Your Fear. by domejike(m): 8:36am On Aug 14, 2016
uchkochi:
THE DEVIL IS POWERLESS WITHOUT YOUR FEAR.

The least kind of fear can weaken the strongest type of faith. Fear gives the devil free access into your life. It is not that the devil is too strong, but the problem is that the fear in your heart opened the door legally for the devil to attack. But from today every trace of fear shall be dissolved in the precious name of Jesus Christ.

Job was righteous, even God testified of his righteousness and called him a perfect man even when Jesus had not yet shed His blood. But the devil still had access to torment Job because he was living in fear. JOB 3:25-26. This tells us that fear is the worse kind of sin. No wonder the bible says that whatever is not done in faith is sin. Once you are afraid and you do nothing about it, then it will open you up for attack.

If you notice any area in your life that looks like the devil is having a filled day, check it, fear may be the reason, fear of the unknown, fear of failures, fear of that relationship breaking up, fear of not getting that job or contract. Even if you say you are not afraid, are you anxious? are you worried? are you living in doubts? all these are advance forms of fear. God has not given us the spirit of fear, the spirit of fear is from the devil, so cast it out in the name of Jesus. Any time you sense fear in your heart, boldly speak words of faith immediately. When the fear is so strong, pray till you can sense boldness.

If the cure for fear is faith then you have to know what it takes to generate faith. The word of God is what generates faith. Romans 10:17. You have been programed by God to live by faith so that fear will not come into your heart giving the devil access. Galatians 3:11. I command every fear in your heart to disappear in Jesus precious name. God is with you and in you, He has even gone before you to make every crooked place straight, this should give you confidence. I see favour rushing to you by this understanding.
AMEN

What, for goodness' sake is wrong with this country. Belittling the ruling party is such a reprehensible act by the PDP. In developed countries, the opposition understand the fact that they have no choice but to support the party in power. Why can't we copy the same? The country is bigger than any political party. Is this what PDP will continue to do till 2019? Putting the reigning party down? Praying and hoping things go wrong so they can gain points? Is it worth it? Why is Africa this backward & blind? It's so pathetic, i tell you. Why can't we all come together and support whoever is in power? I'm yet to see anything as complicated as Nigerian politics. Africa is such a huge mess. Everyone is just out for their own selfish motives. Where do we go from here?

I'm so disappointed. I wish things could go just perfectly.
if PDP should run the same style of opposition APC ran when PDP was ruling, doubt if this country will remain by now. Imagined where we would have been if subsidy removal was allowed to stand in 2012. I know people will say they (PDP) will embezzle it. But check out what APC would have been controlling today. Hypocrisy of the highest order.

PoliticsRe: We Have Declared Ambode Enemy Of Ndigbo – Ohanaeze by domejike(m): 7:32pm On Jan 11, 2016

The apex socio-Igbo cultural organization, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has declared Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode as number one enemy of Ndigbo.

The development is sequel to the demolition of Oshodi market, which is believed to be largely occupied by Ndigbo on the first week of the New Year.

Speaking at a press briefing in Enugu on Monday, the national President of the Ohanaeze Youth Council, OYC, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, alongside the National Secretary, Okwu Nnabuike said Ambode by his actions had drawn a battle line between himself and the entire Igbo land.

While describing the demolition as “an action done in bad faith”, the group wondered why the Lagos State Government should carry out such act at a time when it clearly knew that the owners of the shops were in their villages for the Christmas and the New Year festivities.

He said, “it is instructive to observe here that contrary to all principles of common justice, the traders were merely given few days quit notice. It is equally shocking that the government chose such a wrong time for the demolition exercise, thereby not only taking the shops from them but making sure that their wares were looted.

“We are forced to ask: could this be the starting point in implementing Oba of Lagos’s earlier threat during the election period that Ndigbo would be thrown into the Lagoon? Could it be another round of deportation of exercise, similar to what former governor Fashola did? These appear to be so considering that a witch cried in the night and a child died in the morning.”

While maintaining that the Lagos State Government’s action was a threat to the unity of the country, he demanded for adequate compensation of the traders who had suffered great losses as a result of the demolition.

He stressed that “it is quite inhuman for people’s means of livelihood to be taken away from them in such a manner. The government’s claim that arms were recovered from a section of the market does not fly at all here because it cannot be a reason for such a wicked treatment purely targeted on a particular people.

“We demand that the Governor of Lagos State should direct relevant government agencies to adequately compensate these traders; anything short of that, Ndigbo will henceforth regard the Governor as their number one arch-enemy.”

In as much as I oppose the biafra struggle, I still believe that we 'Nigerians' are strongly divided along ethnic lines and not even religious line. We pretend to be United in the 'one Nigeria' mantra but embed the spirit of disunity in our hearts. How can the president of a country openly criticise a particular region and conclude that they won't get equal ample opportunities simply because they didn't vote for him? What then is democracy? Why can't they protest? Even at that you won't let them protest. In the face of these issues why can't I start having a rethink of my stand on BIAFRA, If I can't measure up equal opportunity with my northern and western so called BROTHERS.
