Over the years, the nation has come together across the country to commemorate the anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks.
Take a look at some of the photos of the U.S. Presidents paying their tributes.

The events of September 11, 2001 permanently changed America's perception of security and prompted then-President George W. Bush to declare war on terrorism and invade Afghanistan after the deadliest attack on American soil since Pearl Harbor in 1941.

U.S.-led coalition forces have knocked the Taliban from power in Afghanistan. The war there continues, although earlier this year the U.S. and Taliban signed an agreement aimed at ending the conflict.

The United States searched for al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden for years after the terrorist attacks, and in May 2011 a team of U.S. Navy Seals raided a compound in Pakistan where they shot him dead.

Memorials for those killed in the attacks now stand at sites in New York, Virginia and Pennsylvania. The Pentagon crash site was quickly rebuilt after the attacks. A new tower at the World Trade Center site took longer to construct, but now rises above the Manhattan skyline as the tallest building in the United States.

It has been programmed like that because you're not an accredited agent to register business for others.
You either wait for it to expire or you give an accredited agent to continue the registration with a letter of authority.

How can one register as an accredited agent, please?
Business / I Want To Register Another Business Name But My Name Appears As Proprietor by domesifa(m): 10:22pm On Sep 09, 2020
Hi, please anyone with this experience? I have an account with CAC after successfully registering my business. Now I want to register another business (for someone else) as a presenter, but my name appears as Proprietor 1 instead of presenter, with no option of deleting my name.

Please how do I remove my name as Proprietor 1. Or must the owner of the business create his/her own account to register the business?

I've already sent mail to CAC, and I know it will take them donkey's years to respond. Does anyone have idea how to register business on behalf of another person without the presenter's name appearing as Proprietor 1?

Thank you

· Urges Citizens to Ignore the Trending Fake News

The Inspector General of Police, IGP M.A Adamu, NPM,mni has reassured Nigerians that the statutory entry requirements into the Nigeria Police Force remain sacrosanct and would be thoroughly followed in the ongoing Police recruitment screening exercise. The IGP’s reassurance became necessary following news report making the rounds in some sections of the media that the IGP has suspended the entry requirement for candidates who applied to join the Nigeria Police Force as Police constables in the ongoing recruitment screening exercise.

The IGP, while noting that that no one has the powers to alter the conditions for recruitment into the Force – these, having been clearly provided for in Sections 71 – 75 and other relevant sections of the Police Act and Regulations - stated that all candidates who successfully completed the online recruitment registration exercise were invited for physical and credential screening from 24th August, 2020 to 6th September, 2020 at various venues in States across the Federation and the FCT. The screening Officers have been directed to allow all the applicants to participate in the exercise and to recommend their suitability or otherwise in the spirit of transparency, accountability and fair hearing using the already established benchmarks as contained in the Act.

The IGP has commended the Screening Officers for the hitch-free take-off of the screening exercise at various locations nationwide. He calls on them to uphold high level of professionalism and observe necessary caution in line with the COVID-19 prevention regulations throughout the period of the exercise.

Meanwhile, as part of conscious efforts to deepen the integrity of the recruitment process, observers and monitors from the Ministry of Police Affairs, the Police Service Commission and the Federal Character Commission have been invited to provide oversights toward ensuring a credible exercise.

Education / JAMB Pegs 2020 University Admission Cut-off Mark At 160 by domesifa(m): 3:44pm On Jun 16, 2020
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has kicked-off the admission exercise for 2020/2021 academic year for tertiary institutions with the announcement of cut-off points for admissions.

The Board announced cut-off points for various institutions: universities from 160, polytechnics from 120, colleges of education and innovative institutions from 100.

JAMB Registrar Prof Ishaq Oloyede, who announced the development at the end of the Board’s 2020 Policy Meeting, warned institutions against charging candidates more than N2,000 for their screening exercise

In his presentation, Oloyede disclosed that 510,957 admission spaces were unused by tertiary institutions in 2019 admission year.

He also disclosed that 612,557 candidates were offered admission out of the 1,157,977 candidates that sat for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in 2019.

He noted that the 2020 admission exercise has kicked off, and asked tertiary institutions to proceed with the conduct of 2020/2021 admissions following the approved guidelines.

Minister of Education Mallam Adamu Adamu, who was represented by the Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, in his remarks, urged JAMB and tertiary institutions to consider candidates with the previous year’s Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) and other qualifying results to proceed with the admission process.

He promised that the government will make an adequate arrangement that will accommodate applicants who would be taking the examination when the opportunity to do so is worked out.

‘As major stakeholders, we must jointly come up with reactions that would realign our programmes to these new realities. While these reactions are being fine-tuned to check their capacities and capabilities to withstand the new reality, JAMB and tertiary institutions could take advantage of the current situation and consider candidates with previous year’s Senior School Certificate Examination and other qualifying results, to proceed on with the admission process.

‘Whatever arrangement that the country comes up with, in the long run, will surely accommodate those who will be taking the examination when the opportunity to do so is worked out,’ he explained.

The Policy Meeting, which is, usually attended by heads of tertiary institutions in Nigeria, heralds the commencement of admission processes in tertiary institutions. Decisions on admission cut-off points for all institutions are taken at the meeting.

Nairaland / General / See Pictures From The Memorial Of George Floyd by domesifa(m): 10:14pm On Jun 04, 2020
The casket of George Floyd sits before the podium during his memorial service at North Central University, Thursday, June 4, in the U.S. city of Minneapolis.

Mourners gathered Thursday in Minneapolis, Minnesota, for the first of three memorials for George Floyd, the man whose death in police custody has led to more than a week of nationwide protests demanding justice and systemic reforms.

Civil rights leader the Rev. Al Sharpton led Thursday’s private service for family and friends.

“We remember the long list of those that were killed unjustifiably by law enforcement and those that were killed unjustifiably because of double standards, bigotry and racism,” Sharpton said in a social media post hours before the service. “We think of their loved ones, we think of what they could have been. We think of the contributions that they could have made, and then we get up and do something about achieving justice and fairness.”

A public viewing and private service is scheduled for Saturday in North Carolina, the state where Floyd was born, followed by a large service Monday in Houston where he spent most of his life.

Protesters welcomed the move by prosecutors in the state of Minnesota to charge three additional officers in connection with Floyd’s death, and demonstrations Wednesday night in numerous cities were once again largely peaceful.

Health / Covid-19 Deaths: Trump Orders American Flags To Be Flown At Half-staff - Photos by domesifa(m): 6:15pm On May 22, 2020
President Donald Trump has ordered American flags to be flown at half-staff for a three-day period in remembrance of Americans who have lost their lives due to the coronavirus outbreak.

He made the announcement late Thursday on Twitter at the same time he said the lowered flags Monday also will honor servicemen and women “who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation,” as the U.S. marks Memorial Day.

Meanwhile, Michigan's attorney general said Trump may not be invited back to the state if he refuses to wear a face mask in public.

Trump visited a Ford auto factory Thursday near Detroit that has been converted into a plant to build ventilators.

All of the Ford executives who were showing Trump around the plant were wearing face masks. But Trump, as he has always done, refused to wear one.

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel said it isn’t just Ford Motors’ policy that all visitors to its plants wear a mask – it is also state law.

Politics / Covid-19: Akwa Ibom State Govt Slashes Salaries Of Political Appointees By 20% by domesifa(m): 5:22pm On May 19, 2020
PRESS RELEASE

In response to the prevailing economic realities of dwindling revenues, caused by the crash in the price of crude oil in the global market, His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel, has painfully directed, the slashing of salaries of all political office holders by 20%.

His Excellency the Governor was confronted with an urgent need to take decision on either of two painful options: continue to pay the current salaries for a while and end up being totally unable to pay same subsequently or spread the discomfort (20% cut) sustainably over a period of time pending the return of crude oil price to normalcy in the global market.

We must not forget that it was by the same ancient principle of " necessity is the mother of invention", that led to the establishment of the Akwa Ibom State Post COVID-19 ECONOMIC RECONSTRUCTION COMMITTEE by His Excellency the Governor, to recommend navigable routes out of this global economic morass for our State.

Let us all know and appreciate the fact that these measures are temporary. Akwa Ibom State Government will transparently resume full payment of salaries when this dark cloud PASSES.

God bless Akwa Ibom State.

Sports / Messi, Other La Liga Players Resume Training by domesifa(m): 5:42pm On May 06, 2020
Soccer players in Spain returned to their team's training camps Wednesday for the first time since the country entered a lockdown nearly two months ago because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Players for Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atlético Madrid and other clubs started preparing for the return to training this week. They were all expected to be tested for COVID-19 and should be cleared to practice once the results are back. Most clubs are expected to resume practicing by the end of the week.

The majority of players did not wear masks or gloves when they arrived, according to Spanish media. Lionel Messi, Gerard Piqué and Luis Suárez were among those without masks when they drove into Barcelona's training center. Antoine Griezmann, Arturo Vidal and Ivan Rakitic did wear masks. Sergi Roberto arrived without a mask but had one on when he left.

Real Madrid players Gareth Bale, Luka Modric and Karim Benzema arrived without masks, as did most of their teammates.

Health / Coronavirus: Indonesian Neighborhood Uses 'ghosts' To Scare People Back Home by domesifa(m): 12:07pm On Apr 14, 2020
In Indonesia

A neighborhood in central Java province has deployed a group of volunteer “ghosts” to patrol the streets and scare people into staying home in compliance with the region’s stay-at-home rules designed to curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Leaders in the Kepuh village neighborhood in Sukoharjo say residents lacked awareness of the coronavirus threat and had been ignoring rules requiring them to stay in their homes.

They wrap themselves in white cloth resembling corpses wrapped in burial shrouds and roam the neighborhood of about 5,000 people, ‘scaring” people into going home — or at least providing a reminder of the stay-at-home rules.

When the patrols first began in early April, organizers told Reuters news agency that the effort initially backfired, when reports of their efforts on social media brought more people out to see the ghosts. The volunteers changed their schedules and began carrying out surprise patrols. Their efforts have proven effective.

Reuters reported that as of Sunday, Indonesia reported 4,241 cases of COVID-19, with 373 dead. The country has the highest official death toll in East Asia after China.

A group of volunteers — working in coordination with local law enforcement —pocong developed the idea of dressing up “pocong,” or “shroud ghosts,” from Indonesia and Malaysian folklore.
