I think she's the same TVC lady host that took unsolicited photos of a lady that sat in front of her husband at a wedding and posted it online to shame her. How many Nigerians pay taxes? If not for the personal income tax which is automatically deducted from a person's salary and the taxes big companies are mandated to pay, I doubt if FIRS will be seeing up to N5m in taxes monthly. Which Nigerian will sit down and start calculating his earnings and acquisitions to deduct taxes from them?

Who told you that healthcare is free in developed countries? Whoever told you that lied through his/her teeth. What they have is a detailed health insurance system. So it's the insurance company getting billed making it look like the treatment is free. What their healthcare personnel won't do is abandon an emergency situation because the patient does not have money or insurance but it happens. I watched a video of a US hospital where a woman was coughing and wheezing violently in their lobby. The nurses and orderlies kept walking past her, none bothered to check on her. She died shortly, all they did was carry her body to one side and business continued as usual. These countries you shame your country for also have their own flaws

Let's be sincere with ourselves. Bad leadership aside, a lot of Nigerians are insincere and bad debtors. Most of them will be looking for ways to outsmart people and take advantage of them. Hospitals have been taught bitter lessons by people who will escape without settling their bills, they've decided to tighten their policy of no treatment without payment and I don't completely blame them for it sadly some poor people have to suffer the brunt.

It's convenient to heap curses on doctors and hospitals but what people don't realize is that hospitals run on money. A lot of money. If you keep expecting hospitals to treat every patient before collecting money, the hospital will shut down in no time. Our people are fond of taking advantage of goodwill. Once they realize that hospitals are treating without collecting upfront, they will troop in for free treatment even if they have the money. I remember a post someone shared here about a doctor who attended to an emergency case in the middle of the night. The patient's family pleaded that they don't have any means of getting money at that time of the night and they will pay first thing in the morning. He eventually treated the patient without them paying a kobo and went off duty afterwards. The following day, he was called while asleep that the patient and his family fled from the hospital before dawn. Not only did he pay for the treatment, he was sacked from the private hospital.

Hospitals, like every other business needs money to keep themselves afloat. Expecting them to treat every patient that comes in without collecting a dime is a recipe for disaster in an already failing healthcare system.
