Every SE state got more revenue from the oil wealth than all oil producing states combined.

The agitation by the Niger Delta people to halt this was always brutally opposed by the north with the backing of the SE.

When Obasanjo proposed a 25% sharing formula to oil producing states, Wabara led a delegation of SE senators to stage a walkout on the Senate floor.
