1:What are the procedures for sending documents thru courier I know someone will ask so let me do it already
2:After submitting the application online is there an option for choosing btw submitting by courier or in person?

1. There is no procedure. Just package all documents and send to the consulate. However, answer 2 will tell you what to do before you can use courier.

2. You would have to choose "Courier" WHEN YOU ARE FILLING THE APPLICATION, not after. That way you have indicated your documents will be presented through courier. I will also advise you put a self addressed envelope inside for them to return your docunents and passport.

Please how much do you think is ideal for the statement of account for a single traveler

This i can't answer. However, i feel if you calculate all it will cost you to travel for the number of day you want, with some reasonable addition on top, should be fine. Flight to Brazil now is 500k plus depends on airline. Add hotel, add feeding, add internal transport, add your proposed tours, etc... then you should arrive at a a fair amount

Which of the courier service did you use

You can use anyone, though i used DHL cos of their next day delivery. UPS said they ll deliver in 2 to 3 days.

thank you for taking time to respond.
I guess you’ll address the mail to the consulate general in kofo abayomi right? Or any other address?

Yes,
Consulate General of Brazil in Lagos
Plot 257 Kofo Abayomi Street,
Victoria Island,
Lagos-Nigeria

However, always get you information from the official website... do not let anyone give you address, phone number, email, or even acct number. Anyone can help you but always reconfirm from the official website.

really? shocked I thought some posters said one will have to choose a date for submission after submitting online.

Please, how many days insurance would one book if you want to stay for like 10 days

Not necessarily always. If you want to take your documents to the consulate IN PERSON or through THIRD PARTY, then you must book appointment and wait till you get a date.

But even the consulate prefer you to send it through courier because when i called, I was asking if i could submit for my wife too but the guy said "Even you do not need to come. Just send it through courier."

As for insurance, i guess you need insurance cover for just the days you are traveling (from departure date from Nigeria to arrival date back to Nigeria). It doesnt make sense to book 1 month insurance when you want to stay for 10 days... that's waste of money cos ideally, once you are back to Nigeria your insurance cover doesnt cover you any longer (thats why it's called TRAVEL INSURANCE)

thanx for your response.

Please how long after you submitted online we’re you asked to submit hard copies?

Immediately. I think using courier is the best. No appointment hassles needed. Finish ur application, submit, print the hardcopy receipt, sign and attach passport photos, pay and put ur teller, then send Immediately to consulate... no wasting time for appointment or traveling to Lagos (if u r outside Lagos)

please, what site did you book the tours?

I used www.viator.com to book tours. It works like booking.com or expedia. You search for the city you want to go and it will show you tours in the city.

I am the only one applying. Like how much does it take you to apply in total and how many days does it take them to issue your visa?

Each application is currently N48,050 payable at Stanbic IBTC bank.

I have not got my Visa yet, i just submitted this Thursday. However, some people here have confirmed they fot visas in 4 days, 7 days, and 14 days, but the official website says minimum of 21 days for a straightforward application.

Hi guys... thank you all for providing so much information in just a single platform and thread.
I applied for tourist visa with my wife and when i called the consulate in lagos to ask if i could submit our documents myself, the person told me that even I myself did not need to come to submit it. That i should send them through courier with a prepaid self addressed envelopes for both of us so that they will return our originals and passport when processing is done. So i did that.

I packaged our applications in separate envelopes and I paid in a bank and put each teller in each pack. Then went to DHL to post them. I paid for self addressed envelops and put them inside each pack and then put the 2 packs inside one envelop and sent them both to Consulate in lagos.

The pack was delivered next day morning and by the end of that next day, our applications changed status from "Sent" to "Under Review".

So we are just praying and hoping they send back our passports with visas in them.

Travel / Re: I Have Gotten A Full Time Job In Canada. by donbuscka: 7:36pm On Oct 05, 2021
Obeledu:
My journey to Canada started with two earlier threads I posted on Nairaland as can been seen on the following links.

https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-570972.0.html

https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-272024.0.html

I decided to join my family in Calgary and face the challenges on July 2011. Before finally relocating to Canada I had plan of gaining employment in

the Canadian oil industries as a rig technician. The reason being that it is easy to get and also the pay is very good so far you can endure working

in a hostile weather conditions.

When I landed, I went and registered with Calgary Catholic Immigration services (this is government sponsored trainer for entry level in the oil

industries). I was invited for both oral and written interview, and to my greatest surprise I was not selected. It was very painful as I had no plan B,

meanwhile the money I had with me was going down seriously because of large family (family of five).

After much thought I went to job agency, I must emphasise that agency job are readily available but the problem is they are mostly temporary jobs.

You can be lucky and get hired by the parent company after about three months. The jobs are mostly warehouse jobs with payment range of $14-

$20/hr payment. The agent was able to get a job for me in an electrical assembly plant the next day with a payment of $17.5/hr.

With this I was able to pay my bill and take care of my family. The job was more of physical than brain work, so I wasn’t comfortable with it. I

started submitting my resume to different telecommunication companies since that’s my major in Nigeria. I must say that I used Craigslist most of

the time and also looking up directly on the company websites. I started getting invitation for interview, after three series of interview I finally got an offer letter. I never applied for engineering positions. You cannot come from Nigeria and secure any engineering position without first undergoing

one year upgrade program. All my application was as telecommunication technician.

The problem most of us Nigerian especially easterners face here is the accent problem. The oyibo here don’t usually understand our English.

After staying few months here I must admit that Nigeria is very lovely place to stay. When I was in Nigeria there is no weekend that will pass without you having one occasion to attend. Those things make life more enjoyable, but you can never see those things here.

Thank you for this update.

You are very correct.
He asked me to move over to Nigeria with my family to prove a point, but the fact is that you dont know why i am here in the UK and you dont know my plans either. I could be studying, working as an expatriate for a multinational corporation, lecturing, doing research or smth.

Your point is my point too. There is no standard to it. If anyone says Nigeria is paying them, let them be. If anyone says UK is paying them, let them stay. And if anyone has been to UK and prefer to return to Nigeria, dont see them as defeated or losers. While if anyone has always been in Nigeria and wants to migrate to UK by all cost, dont call then desperate. Different strokes for different folks.

All we can do as people who have travelled is to offer real time advice and allow people to make their choices.

Shalom

Poch:
Sorry to intrude, but this argument is a no-brainer and uncalled for.

This is one of those rare situations where you are both right!

It is tougher to earn and save in the UK for low income earners...whose equivalent would thrive extremely well in Nigeria...no doubt.
However, there are socio-economic and security perks that could also influence a choice of abode.

It finally boils down to individual situations and choices...and will be very wrong to try impose your personal situations/experiences as a standard that must be seen as right/true and followed.

Truly, you are both right... but should also try be discerning and empathize regarding other people's opinions.
There is no standard to this thing!

My 2 cents.

Olalekank:

I want to believe you are trolling right?

Let me highlight a couple of things for you
- The 1M that you are touting is mere 2k pounds lol
- In Nigeria, you can be shot by the people who are meant to protect you - the police. All that needs to happen is for you to take an uber, they label you as a yahoo boy, and extort all the money in your account
- You leave home at 5:30am only to get home by 9/10pm
- Erhm, can you work from home for a day without turning on gen or cursing the internet?
- Would you rather your kids going to UNILAG or UNIBEN rather than a University in Southampton?
- Have you heard of people getting rejected at different hospitals?
- Have you seen the numerous cases of rape in Nigeria recently without the perpetrators getting caught?

Yes, I prefer the system taking my money if it offers me good healthcare, good education for my kids, security, amenities, etc

BTW, tell me one place where you don't work hard

You are funny i swear.

You say N1m is less than £2k, i agree. But my question, WHAT CAN £2K DO FOR YOU IN THE UK?
£2k cannot even pay for 1 year rent in the UK for 2 bedroom flat but you can get a very comfortable house in Lagos for N700k or even a duplex for N1.5m a year.

Water bill per month is £50 upward (if u manage water), let me stop here.

If you earn £300 per week with you family in the UK, you cant save shingbai, nothing. But this £300 is about N180k in Nigeria. You can live and save even with ur family with N180k.

How free are you as a Nigerian to have business in the UK? Everyone is working (except the ones that ate citizens of UK and have good money). But in Nigeria, ifbyou have N500k, you can start up smth and if u manage it well in 1 year you can have N1m or more.

My conclusion is that you can make it big anywhere. Lets stop this idea that UK or oversea is equal to automatic making money.

NOTE: I live in the UK with my family and i have a business in Nigeria managed by my employees. I drink from both waters and i can tell you, if you have good money in Naija, coming to abroad should be for relaxation, and may be send ur kids to study here too.

No doubt also you can live safer life in the UK than Nigeria, but People die everywhere in the world.

Good day everyone. I appreciate the info so far. However, i have a question bothering me deeply..

My wife want to apply for Study permit and include our 8 months old daughter and I as dependants/spouse in the application.

1. Do we stand a chance of getting approval or does adding family members affect the chances of success?

2. Can she apply alone first and when she gets approved and travel, then me and our daughter will apply? It this a possible route? Any implications?

I will appreciate your guidance please.
