Is this suppose to be coming from somebody in this present century, i think not. This is the only topic i have taken time to read from page 1 to the last. Its a pity that the Osu and Umeh still exist but we cannot help it, its one of those bad things our fore fathers created for us. Ostracizing our ownself when we are complaning how the white men treat us blacks. I definitely think it will come to an end one day but not in the near future. For now you can do everything with an Osu or Umeh but when it comes to marriage you will think twice. For me i will not marry an osu and will not be friend their girl to avoid mistake. i do not want to be ostracized by my own family.

Your surname does not mean u are an osu just like some people ansa osudiuko as surname as well. But have you ever asked your father if he should have married your mother if she happen to come from an osu or umeh family and see what he will tell you about that and ask again your mother and your husband the same question. I beleive they will open your eyes a bite more on that issue. It is very very easy to say it that you will marry an osu than marrying an osu. I have a Rev father in my parish that preach against the osu cast system but when his brother wanted to marry he was the first that raised the issue of the osu for his family to go and find out about the girls family.

Before non osu don't do anything with osus not even going to the same market, eating in the buka, going to the same church and many more but now these are no longer in place and i beleive one day the marriage issue will go as well but not in our generation. To bring to your notice osu don't marry umeh because of this cast system as well. If that is the case then who is fullying who.
Any igbo man or woman born and bred in igboland that says he don't know about this osu issue is not igbo to be honest.

why is that when ever they mention Nigerians in diaspora people only think of UK/US. It baffles me much. Anyway UK is the least developed in the western Europe in terms of everything. If you leave in Uk and have travelled to any other western europe you will notice what i have said.

I was whipped by my old boy, i think it helps in your upbringing, i leave in Uk now and can see how their kids behave, my people it is nothing to ride home about and this is cos their parents dont have control over them. Here you cannot whip your kid as they belong to the GOVT and not you. Thats why you see them talk to anybody anyhow. In my front a tenage girl spat to a bus drive old enough to be my father, they lack respect and anything you can think of. Thier was a time they nearly considered bringing kane back to their schools but i think its too late. To whip a child is not bad when he does bad thing but to whip or slap a 6months or 12 month baby is wrong from any angle you can view it from.
