WebmastersRe: Using Opacity On Background Image by doncigalo: 8:42am On Jun 25, 2012
@dhtml Are you surprised..guess the truth hurts mate

@adeniyi83 Without seeing full source code I really cant comment (what browser are you even using ?) but IF there's nothing wrong with your code then I've got a couple of suggestions for you

1. Try to force IE7 and IE8 emulation and see what happens :
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=7" /> ----------IE7
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=8" /> ----------IE8

2. Specify your page as a HTML5 webpage :
<!DOCTYPE html>

3.Use CSS cross browser opacity code that covers all browsers:

/* IE 8 */
-ms-filter: "progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Alpha(Opacity=50)";

/* IE 5-7 */
filter: alpha(opacity=50);

/* Netscape */
-moz-opacity: 0.5;

/* Safari 1.x */
-khtml-opacity: 0.5;

/* Good browsers */
opacity: 0.5;

Hope this helps ..

WebmastersRe: Pls, Dear Nairaland Webmasters, Help Me Review My Website. by doncigalo: 10:44pm On Jun 18, 2012
@yawatide Actually you're wrong, the processing you're talking about is done on the browser and not on the server, so bandwidth does come into play at all.

Another aspect that you're wrong as well, is that if you have used media queries before , you would have noticed that even though it is not supported in older versions of IE the browser will still render the desktop version of the page no problemo as the default styling of the page which is in the same css script will be rendered.

So even the non-techies will still be able to view the pages.
WebmastersRe: Pls, Dear Nairaland Webmasters, Help Me Review My Website. by doncigalo: 8:24am On Jun 18, 2012
That shouldnt be a problem , media queries are currently supported on all browsers, all web browsers have supported this feature right from their initial release (except the prodigal child : IE; however IE 9 now supports it).

More info can be found here:

WebmastersRe: Pls, Dear Nairaland Webmasters, Help Me Review My Website. by doncigalo: 7:53am On Jun 18, 2012
@VideoBills Ait, what you want is what we call a responsive design (meaning a design that responds to both web and mobile browsers), its done purely in HTML and CSS, you accomplish this using media queries. Media queries are basically a CSS3 functionality that allows you to give style to different kind of devices.

So for example, you can write a rule that says if a user’s screen-size is less than 320 pixels (tablet and smartphone), don’t show the sidebar or if the screen size is greater than 1920 pixels (widescreen desktop), increase the font size of the body text to 15px. Here are same rules translated to code:

@media screen and (max-width:320px) {
.sidebar { display: none }
}
@media screen and (min-width:1920px) {
body { font-size: 15px }
}

There are also other techniques that are used as well such as the use of percentages and fluid images. For more info google responsive design , there are tons of information and forums to help you out.

Now, concerning your website.. without mincing my words..it needs a make over for your clients to take you serious.

@dafthtml Oh yes we thank we very much for creating this thread, people now know who are the best web hosts in the country (whogohost), and that you Tony Ogundipe aka dafthtml are a JOKE. I mean...look at your suit !! Did you sew it yourself ??

I hope from now on you will have a very humble approach on this forum, cuz I will be watching !!
WebmastersRe: Trudigits: My Best Nigerian Web Host Ever by doncigalo: 7:05am On Jun 17, 2012

WebmastersRe: Trudigits: My Best Nigerian Web Host Ever by doncigalo: 11:36am On Jun 16, 2012
@dafthtml I've told you when that you come up with something innovative or of note, we are not talking about your copy and paste articles, or your poor excuse of a site, then and only then can you ask me for my portfolio.

In terms of qualifications I DARE you to even try ! Till then enjoy your guguru and epa!! Broke Arse !

@netghost Well said, well said . My apologies then. But concerning he who must not be named, it is his overall work ethics and approach towards his client that makes me classify him as a hack. He thinks his clients are his personal piggy bank, you should go through his previous threads and post and you will be amazed by what he says. He outright classifies them as mugu and is known for this particular statement : I dont care as long as the money comes in .

Also he keeps picking on upcoming developers and designers, he loves to haze them, the last straw for me is his negative posts about nairaland a couple of weeks back. Go through his ealier posts and thread and you will see where I coming from.

WebmastersRe: Trudigits: My Best Nigerian Web Host Ever by doncigalo: 4:17pm On Jun 15, 2012
@dafthml What doesnt matter ?? That your good at what you do ?? My days...you've lost it mate. Your really are not in touch with reality. You need to find some work, cuz this self delusion of yours is really not helping you.

I've been following the likes of you on this forum, and your comments especially in relation to your clients, is that your clients are your personal piggy bank (I dont care as long as the money flows..thats a comment of yours). That is why you produce low quality work.

Your frustration is now beginning to show, you insult the owner of this forum constantly badgering on how Nairaland is a flop and what not, you piggy back on other peoples company, you constantly shoot down the young web developers that are upcoming, you claim to do projects (e.g interswitch)... I mean who do you think you are ? Look at your shabby website..your a hack !! As long as I am on this forum, I promise to constantly expose you and your lapdogs !!

Your cassava chipping idea isnt that bad, I heard that Fashola has even opened a garri processing unit in Lagos, take advantage of that amigo...DHTML EXTREME GARRI ! Not a bad name ... But the thing is with people like you, no matter what you venture into , it will always flop.
WebmastersRe: Trudigits: My Best Nigerian Web Host Ever by doncigalo: 3:42pm On Jun 15, 2012
@databoy Nice analysis, you should consider being a Systems Analyst. It seems your a bit confused as to my actual profession... well just say in my day job I'm an IT consultant, apart from my undergrad and postgrad degrees in IT, I'm certified under ISEB,CISA and CISM. My work entails me carrying out Systems Analysis, Systems Integration, Business Process Analysis, Software Testing, Project Management...typical consulting work.

But you see I've got a passion for app development with a heavy emphasis UI/Interface/Prototype design. This is me actually : www.plus36.com.ng.

As for the comparism between the CEO's or trudigits and whogohost , you forgot to mention that the it was CEO of whogohost (Toba Obaniyi) that designed and built Jobberman, from your analysis what would be the best work of the CEO of trudigits (Sawyerr Ken) ? I can answer that for you ...NOTHING !! There is a difference (almighty one) between someone that knows about programming and another person that knows how to design,build and launch successful apps (like jobberman).

As for my association with WHOGOHOST.. well I cant comment on that , but as they say in the hood, they are TESTED and CRESTED !!! I mean look at their portfolio!
WebmastersRe: Trudigits: My Best Nigerian Web Host Ever by doncigalo: 3:41pm On Jun 15, 2012
@netghot I remind you of your kid sis huhI wouldnt dis your sis cuz she might actually be a nice person, but you seem to know alot about the behaviour of children that have been molestated ?? Do you engage in such ?? If so I pray it isnt with your kid sis !! Bloody pervet !
WebmastersRe: Trudigits: My Best Nigerian Web Host Ever by doncigalo: 3:38pm On Jun 15, 2012
@dafthtml Come on a serious note, do you work ? as in do you have gainfull employment. Cuz it seems that your on Nairaland all the time, 24/7. What a life to live !! No job , no amibition ! No wonder you aint married and still staying with your moma.
WebmastersRe: Trudigits: My Best Nigerian Web Host Ever by doncigalo: 8:21am On Jun 15, 2012
@dafthtml Your the stupid one ! How is the cassava chipping business going by the way ?

@netghost I suggest you borrow some money, top up your phone and call the customer care numbers listed on the website or better still send an email to support@whogohost.com
WebmastersRe: Trudigits: My Best Nigerian Web Host Ever by doncigalo: 11:35pm On Jun 14, 2012
@netghost You dont even have the intelligence to type out a coherent sentence, no wonder since the launch of your site: justnaija.com, you still havent received one single comment for you copy and paste articles. I'm sure your one of those people that paid for all those get rich schemes that shows you how to start a blog/forum and start earning mega millions.

You are a failure, and it is time to stop deluding yourself , because you will never make it online. Never! Go and find employment my friend or you can follow dafthtmls lead ..I think he is into GSM phone casings or is it cassava chippings ..

@dafthtml I'm done with you, I and severalllllllllllllllllll people have proven to those following this thread that whogohost is the best, even though you mumu's rigged and closed the polls before the initial closing date that was set for July, the truth is WHOGOHOST IS THE BEST ! SIMPLE !

WebmastersRe: Trudigits: My Best Nigerian Web Host Ever by doncigalo: 4:22pm On Jun 14, 2012
@dhtml some of us have got day jobs you know.

@netghost are you employed ?? as in do you work for a living ? I think you have a lot of free time on your hand thats why filth comes out from your mouth.

Now to this thread....Come this is horse shit !! Why didnt you guys close the polls on the day that you said you were to close it !! See rigging ! Anyways it is clear who the best hosting provider is..

1. The company isnt a one man company.

2. They have a physical office and a dedicated customer care service that handles all enquires promptly and are even proactive.

3. Their pricing is the best in Nigeria.

5. They are owned by the innovative company that built the award winning job search portal : jobberman

6. They also do affiliate programmes where if you refer a friend you get a 20% commission.

7. You can carry out searches for all top level domains including .ng domains from their website.

8. You get a free domain for all your registrations

And guess the name of the company ...yes you guessed right : WHOGOHOST !!

@spike c
spikes C: ....as you're not a web developer, u just don't understand what a web developer has on his mind cos plainly, you don't know us nor do you know the real job.
.........u really don't know web designing nor usability cos u didn't even find the flaws in that page...never tutor me again....
lol...you clearly dont know who your talking to, but I will clear this misconception of yours. This is me: www.plus36.com.ng, I have also uploaded a document for you and others to read concerning usability/Human Computer Interaction, it is a must read for any web/app developer: http://www.plus36.com.ng/apple.pdf
ProgrammingRe: Why Most Web Developers Fail by doncigalo: 11:25pm On Jun 13, 2012
@spike C I take it that you're part of those developers that know what they are doing, right ? Your a joke and a disgrace if you consider yourself a developer/designer of any sorts.

You said :
spikes C: I laugh in swahili... 50 percent ni, bros, i dey collect 70 percent upfront before i even open ma fireworks for a mock up.
Im laughing in wugubantini, look at your websites and their logos !! Did you use MSWORD to design them ? Do you even know how to use or what fireworks is ?

Your websites are so poorly designed; no overall design concept, no colour scheme, your menus are terrible, you lack any form of design consistency, your incapable of producing your own graphics as you rely on free icons, you text layout is terrible (ever heard of left/right/justify alignment), your command of English is atrocious. What is worrisome is that you actually think you've built something. You need to wake up and stop deluding yourself.

I can say that you are a perfect example of the title of this post; WHY MOST NIGERIAN WEB DEVELOPERS FAIL.

You should change your slogan from "We give you wings to your dream" to "We give you wings to your doom" because if anyone should engage your services it will only lead to their failure!

@Michky Your a hundred percent correct. However concerning your app, could you start a new thread and lets see what the one percent of us that know what we are doing can come up for you.

@babihouse Erm... and who asked for you input ?? Can you not see this is a web master thread OH. Please head over to the Job/Vacancy thread and look for something constructive to do with your life JOR !

@dhtml lol, good to see you have taken my advice and put a page under construction sign, you could put some graphics , increase the size of the text and put some content on what to expect. Details! its all about the details.

Ait now about fashionkouture.com, why dont you design from scratch, the template isnt doing the site/brand justice. You can still hookup a site that you've built from scratch to your CMS or even build your own (if your up for that challenge).
WebmastersRe: Trudigits: My Best Nigerian Web Host Ever by doncigalo: 12:35pm On Jun 13, 2012

WebmastersRe: Trudigits: My Best Nigerian Web Host Ever by doncigalo: 12:33pm On Jun 13, 2012
@dafthtml You asked for us to share our inputs about other webhosts abi ?? So what are you on about ?? Youre now changing mouth and telling me to go to start another thread on whogohost because your beginning to see how trudigits cannot compare with whogohost.

You cannot even claim to be the best in Nigeria, talk about aspirations....WHOGOHOST is the BEST !!
WebmastersRe: 's New Upcoming Brand by doncigalo: 11:50am On Jun 13, 2012
YAWWWWNNNNNN..............please when you've done something concrete, let us know.I dont know how someone that calls himself a webmaster can register a web domain for an upcoming project and just leave it there to show /index.. No under construction page or place holder. Talk about incompetence. No wonder you hardly get any work these days...
