okpara ugo: In your own capacity, can you question your state governor?

We arent talking about labaran, but the office of a minister for information. I wonder why most of you are myopic.
Dont think they are being myopic, its about being prudent. What's the cost advantage of the tour. In Nigeria, a politician doesn't feel successful if he hasn't shown every1 the half baked flower he baked that no1 will be able to eat after he leaves office. Its the office of the minister to get people informed about the federal ministry activities(YES) and not what state governors are doing at the expense of the taxpayer. Or is maku federal chief whip/ federal auditor. Telling me about what fashola is doing in Lagos doesn't change anything if Lagosians are still complaining about his governance.

I know a good road in delta state when I drive on it, not when maku comes to tell me.

stainless40: In a relationship late 2009 and was happy with him . He sponsored my education up to 200level but after my first semester year2,his characters changed towards me. He refused to pay any kobo concerning my education both textbooks, feeding, everything yet we still moving. As if that is not enough late last year when it was time for school fees and other things he started playing games, continue giving me date and yet kept on failing it. We continue the relationship till this time we are about to take exam no school fees no house rent no textbook. I was so disappointed that the person i address as my hubby can lender me that helpless after i had spent 2-3years in school. Everybody was disappointed, even neighbours in our lodge. For a day i haven't think anything bad against this person in quot.
Hubby ko, Ooorbi ni...I dnt know you or the guy. But gurls like you turn a relationship to work where you earn income. You think he's a full, stories like this are pretty common and very rampant. The guy spends it all through till you are made and then the gurl will say; 'he's not my class of guy' or very terrible ones will say 'let me pay you for all you have done'.
I'm not in support of him dumping you but gurl, find out his reasons for changing towards you before you start painting him likee the devil. Who knows you could have a paid his kind gestures with being a naughty gurl somewhere or took him for a fool.
Anyway, find out from him why the change of attitude.
Educational ServicesRe: ACCA Abroad Or In Nigeria by Doncolio(m): 6:25am On Feb 28, 2013
Gindu: Don waltz d cost implication of doing it in 9ja?
Cost implication depends on how many exam you choose to write per diet. There are 2 diets in a year and 4 exams per diet. Each exam should cost you about 35k(study material inc).
Educational ServicesRe: ACCA Abroad Or In Nigeria by Doncolio(m): 5:44am On Feb 28, 2013
Gindu: What are the advantages of ICAN over ACCA in Nigeria? Is it better to write ACCA in Nigeria or in Canada?
ICAN has no advantage over ACCA, however ACCA has advantage over ICAN in Nigeri- you can easily be inducted as a member of ICAN and not vice-versa. It doesn't matter where you write the exams, you are given a global certificate void of region. Which confers on you the privilege of working in any country IFRS is accepted.
BusinessRe: Advise Please! How Can One Who Lives Abroad Have A Business In Nigeria? by Doncolio(m):
bigheart2013: A friend recently relocated to Canada but owned a small shop at Lagos, where he sold family supplies. A family member he left the shop to manage recently told him she wants to look for an office job. He doesn't want to either close down the shop or sell it off becauase he already has established suppliers who ship items to him.

He phoned me for advice and I promised to seek counsel from Nairalanders.

1. How can he keep this shop running while in Canada without being cheated?
2. Any advice on what type of arrangement or agreement he can get into with someone resident at Lagos to keep the shop running in a sustainable manner?

He doesn't want to do business with family members to avoid family feuds.
It could be managed on his behalf. He could go into a legal partnership where the active member will manage it.

mikeansy: Please provide evidence of where and when it was agreed between the FG and State Governments to engage in this good governance tour.

Please also provide the list of who attended the so called agreement meeting.

I dont do abuses I do facts!
Very respectful and mature comment. I notice this tour supporters can't seem to address any thread without insults. If its not shut up, its u r a fool and all. Trust me, u don't need it to make your comment or drive home your point.

However, why are we blinded by our tribe and person supporter. If fashola tried a so called tour,I'll say the same thing I'm saying for PDP's. When did minister of information turn PRO of state governors (oh I forgot, Rivers State Govt is a federal govt). Stop advertising, I see dem all as political scams(Advertisement). Make nigeria better or leave the office for someone that's ready.

You spend my money on me and expect me to thank you for doing so, I'm not a learner?

Mad Cow: Well, they do what they are supposed to do, you encourage them.. Afterall when they dont do what they are supposed to do, you criticize them...

My brother, stop kidding yourself. If you know your right as a citizen of a country, you demand it. If not you get excited when things like this happen. That is why it is called public office, it is open for public critism. Its a case of if they don't do it, who will?

Dividends of democracy I must say. But my o my o my, Nigerians have suffered. See how every1 is shouting praises for seeing people do what they are supposed to do. If they build tap, u all shout 'yeah, its fashola, no GEJ is working. You are all learners (Ibo/Yoruba- the 2 tribes especially). STOP PRAISING PEOPLE FOR GIVING YOUR RIGHT.

Anyway, the best thing out of all these goodies is the innoson company(they copy or not, not my business). At this moment I must salute the ingenuity of that giant of Nigerian automobile soon to become. That company makes me smile and see hope for the common man in Nigeria. May God bless the brain behind and an average Ibo Nigerian, that is very industrious and creative. Need I say more!

biafranqueen: Thanks for the response how about a Honda Pilot the CRV and Accord make sense.. The Benz is noted but my husband is set on Japanese brand Nattyman thanks fr the number..Also any good ideas on fast selling items like children clothes that we can pack in the car maybe diapers or other baby items I saw another thread about children items being the hottest selling bulk items!
Honda pilot and CRV is another very good buy for quick sale(Both cars are wanted, though more on the pilot side). For baby stuff, baby clothing(wear, socks, footwear, cardigan, soft towel and diapers) should command a very good market too. Some toy items too won't be bad, parents still buy toys.

Reelsteel: This is what i have been crying for, Nigeria is an institution with no records.
If we want to fight corruption, crime, and insecurity, every living soul in this country has to be properly identified by a national I.D and number created on a database.
The I.D will be used to access your personal data on a database which includes, Date of Birth, Sex, Eye color, hair color, Dna sample, finger prints, family background and address. Information can only be added to a file on such database but not deleted or modified.
I dont know if this is can be obtainable in this generation but if implemented now and such I.D is created for every new born baby from this year then its a step in the right direction
Exactly part of what have said. Two or three people saying same thing can't be wrong.https://www.nairaland.com/1203434/elected-president-nigeria

I'm proud that we still have a few good Nigerians that can stay up all night drafting ideas that can move the entire nation to great heights as opposed to north, south, west, east etc. It's great that some Nigerians love this country passionately. @OP,you're another Nigerian I am honestly proud of. I love the ideas in your post. However, please if you do get into that office of the president, please don't deter o. Keep these visions alive. God Bless you.

@Brownlord,
Point of correction Nigeria is not a joke even though it is facing terrible times.

Sorry everyone, there's been no electric power in my area not until now.

Its not a one size fits all situation but I believe we can start from nothing to something. Someone said the same blood runs in them all...I totally agree with you.

The question I will like to ask is: Are we (Nigerians) ready for change void of tribal, religious and ethnic inclination?
If the responses are more positive(YES) than negative(NO) then we have a course. If not, we will have a different course to take in all this.

Nigeria is currently living in a constitution that has loopholes for us to be where we are today(NOTE). So we need law that will not give room for convicts and individuals with a bad history to lead us.

But before that comes I propose we have a committee of Nairalanders from each of the 36 states of the federation that will build the road map. I have something in mind that I won't divulge because of some reasons. This committee will publish its plans and findings as a draft for first hearing by Nairalanders. Re-evaluate it for a second hearing and then it is published to Nigerians.

Do I have a seconder?

If you like sit on your roller coaster chair eating porp corn and singing 'chop banana till mo yo' and posting on NL, 'God save us from the hand of this cabal' or 'shouting thieves', or 'they shall not succeed come 2015'. That will change nothing,in short it makes the cabal happier and richer.
Fellow nigerians on NL if we fold our arms and watch nollywood being acted live for us....then we should not complain when our poor road condition kill half the country's population, when there's no job for the masses, when there's scarcity of fuel because some few rich politicians in the business decided not to sell to the country they stole it from or when some few people cart away our soverign wealth and treasury for personal investment abroad. I hope by then we won't be praying to America or China to buy our country so the masses can survive.

Let's not allow the few to play on the intelligence of the masses. Seun on forbes list didn't get there if he had no brain. United States of America is what it is today because some people found solutions to everyday problem and still do. Let's stop covering our heads with mortals while we throw stones. Let's find solution to Nigeria's problem. #GodBlessNigeria.

Most of the time, scammer scam scammer- coz both party were looking forward to playing a fast one on the other.

Young man, dude, guy...michael!

Wake up from your slumber. Anything American guy and nigerian girl will mostlikely be 90% scam relationship. But if you believe in falling in love along with this your quest! Start by being friends of girls online and offline(I'm sure many nigerian girls visit US). And after a while of familiarity and knowing who is who, toast a decent one till she agrees. With your line of education, a girl with a profession in health or less glamorous profession will fit you judging by your dressing and response to comments so far(My opinion no insults intended).

My one cent to you, If you understand. Good! No Best of luck

PoliticsIf You Were Elected President Of NIGERIA by Doncolio(op):
Hello NLs,

I am very sure most of you would have had a premonition of what this thread is about. In other words, your guess might be as good as the content of this thread.

I am a Nigerian by all standards and the purpose of this thread is to tell you what I would do if I was elected the president of Nigeria. I believe I have been in the country long enough to be able to tell what the generality of Nigerians would want done to move the country forward and make it the envy of many.
First of all I must say nigerians are very enterprising and innovative. I really appreciate this forum (Nairaland) that has been the family house of many nigerians on the internet and the envy of many people in other countries.
On to the reason for this thread,

'IF I WAS ELECTED PRESIDENT';
1. Power is essential for the citizens of any country to operate globally in this 21st century. I will achieve 24 hours uninterrupted power supply with specialist and material made in Nigeria- Reawakening of our industrial sector and more jobs for nigerians. (So entrepreneurs can thrive on low cost power supply with more very low tariff in industrial areas).

2. Ensure that all federal roads are not repaired but rebuilt by locally sourced construction firms that can give best quality. They will only be paid based on part of the job completed, that's why its a construction contract. Selection of firms will be done by nigerians after a certification and check for an history of best practices. This will make commercial drivers stop blaming bad roads for the high cost of transporting people and goods.
I will link each of the 36 states by a fast moving 21st century train that will reduce cost of transportion for the masses. As rail transport is more timely and cheaper compared to road transport. So if you don't want to fly, you tire or you track(if there's anything as such)

3. I will build 4 new refineries and repair any/all of the old ones that's serviceable so nigerians can have petroleum products at much lower prices.

4. I'll build at least one standard federal commercial farm in each of the 36 states along with a processing and packaging industry that will standardize these products to international standard. The increasing population of the world will eat food and not computer chips or crude oil. It can also put Nigeria back in the advantageous position of supplying the world after feeding its population at affordable rate for all classes of its citizens.

5. I'll set up standard setting bodies and regulatory bodies that will rebrand everything nigerian along side a citizen identification database. So if you want to transact with anyone online e.g Nairaland, all you will need is the person's citizen identification number(CIN) which the new Nigerian police staffed only by graduates will have access to and also the EFCC. The CBN will have real time access to the account of every citizen regardless of position in the country with a check for money laundry and other financial misapprioprations. Also, from as small as the quality of our food, health care to how services are being offered.
By the grace of the Almighty.

Thank you.

'If I was elected president'- Festus ADEBOYE.

Kindly share with fellow Nairalanders what you'll do if you were elected president.

Elueme: Which agreement are we talking here? Back door lame, informal arrangement that has no constitutional bearing or what? How does this affect the constitution of the federal republic and the eligibility of a candidate contesting elections as enshrined in the constitution. This move get to buttress the evil and cunniness of the northern governors who capitalized on the precarious situation of the president in the last general election to arm twist him into an Okija Like agreement. This desperate move by Aliyu and his clique is dead before arrival because the president like any other person is eligibly bound by the federal constitution to have a re- election and whatever, informal, verbal or written agreement he had with some persons are immaterial as far as good governance is concerned.
Look before you leap...if you must talk, let it be because you have something to say.
Did I hear you say cunning northern governors. If you must know, birds of same feather flock together. If you are not cunning, you can't eat and wine with cunning people and remain the gang leader. Be a nigerian, it will do you good. Than whatever region or tribe you think you are from.
A word is enough for the intelligent.
