Business / Re: BUA Cement Declares Profit Of ₦95 Billion For Full Year, 2020 by doncum(m): 8:35am On Feb 15, 2021
I hope you realise that cement is selling at 2700 direct from the factories. It's retailers that are making the huge margins on the price due to scarcity because one of Lafarge's plant has broken down and Dangote had some issues too which they have now fixed. That's why the BUA man was saying more players are needed to boost capacity but who wants to drop $300miliion to build a new plant? Who?

Southern businessmem especially need to reevaluate what kind of wealth they want to create. Let them put their money where their mouth is

NwaAmaikpe:
shocked

Why wouldn't they?
I repeat why wouldn't they?

Nigercem Nkalagu is dead
Ibeto Cement has been suffocated.

If it is not Dangote, it is Bua....a sad monopoly of a specific line of business.
Sadly, over 68% of patronage is by Southerners.
From Chiedu Okoh to Lafenax...I doubt both companies have any bigger dealers.

Cement that should sell for 800naira a bag now sells for 3,300 a bag and you are surprised at a 95.4billion Naira profit?

As for us in Lagos, we can see where it taxes are going. At least we publish our finances and all publicly.

propaganda is not facts neither is it the truth

Tharyor1984:
I stand by Tinubu my man, the only area I go mad with him is his style of been selfishness by converting a lot of govt! Public!peoples!masses or I say our properties in Lagos and Osun state including my secondary school (painful because I have no history of second school again) to his own personal property and making her daughter that never had a kiosk installed as IYa loga general, his wife third term senator and many more. I stand with him if he can return back all our properties and stop the collection of tax in Lagos state by returning that duty back to the ministry of internal revenue and finance that has the responsibility of such duty in our constitution

Exactly!!! Cold stout for you

emkz:
This is what I have been saying. No politician in the south of the Niger is as relevant as Tinubu, but the way our people demonise him is painful.

If you succeed in bringing him down, who'd negotiate on your behalf? It's not about Tinubu being a President, but about Tinubu being in a vantage point to influence things. Who went to burn down his TV station? Who went after his assets? Even Junaid Muhammed warned against those who vilify him. You people shout that he is corrupt, can you point out one politician anywhere in the world that is clean?

Like Fayose said, it is a thing in the southwest to betray their leaders; if they bring them down, different leaders would emerge, then disunity ensues and you'd then realize the power of a united front. Let Bode George, Ayo Fayose, Nyesom Wike and Southern politicians merge with Tinubu and let them speak with one voice. Let the southeast get their acts together and remove the disunity. If we are united, the hegemony of Northern Nigeria would be threatened.

If anything, The asiwaju and Jagaban Borgu brought Yoruba people closer to the centre than ever.

This is the same person who brought Lagos to where it is today in terms of development. Maybe you are too young to know how Lagos was before 1999

As long as he pretends he does not know about the Lekki massacre, his presidential ambition is over.

Buhari ordered the Lekki Massacre. Tinubu did nothing to stop it.

Do you know how many health interventions Aliko Dangote, Abdul Samad Rabiu and Jim Ovia alone are sponsoring and building acroaa Nigeria?

Those three alone apend more than some state governments in putting infrastructure for health and education in place across nigeria. Next time, let us exercise our franchise properly and vote wisely so we don't equate private sector Philanthropy to good governance from our elected government

grin
AreaFada2:

Donors know govt officials. They hope ambulances will be more difficult to turn private and steal. But those ambulances will soon be rotting away around hospitals. Money meant for maintenance will be stolen.

We use ambulances to carry dead people, not move the sick to hospitals. Only in Lagos a few other places you see ambulances working at times.

We have no comprehensive health care system. So the sick must transport themselves to hospital or die at home.

These billionaires should better get together to fund free primary care centers say within highly populated Kano. To give free primary care to the poor for free. It's should be govt doing it but they do not care.

Not everybody going to hospital after health conditions are already very poor because of no money and no easy access in the community.

On the contrary, thia same man told his staff to stay hone even after the lockdown was called off and promised that no retrenchment will be done. Most of the bua staff i know have been working remotely since 2 weeks before the lockdown. If that isn't a responsible company, I dont know what is.
It seems people don't know that Mr. Rabiu owns the 3rd largest company on the stock exchange or that he is also ranked 3rd on the forbes list of billionaires from Nigeria. Hia Cement company alone is bigger than the biggest bank in Nigeria talk less of sugar and others

Since you want to be ignorant, I'll take this one time to break it further down for you.
1. An epidemiological response is more than just about clinical cases alone. 70% of the work is in operations - from moving medical supplies and all to contact tracing to community mapping.
2. None is more important than the other. In addition, Ambulances are restricted in their use. Using ambulances for operational purposes as mentioned in 1 above, takes them away from where they are most needed which is moving confirmed cases or referrals.
3. I understand that you may not have the benefit of all the information but none of these people donating are doing ao blindly. It is mostly based on need. Right now, Kano's need isn't ambulances but the need to do as many incidence tracking and community mapping of cases based on the time lag in testing and confirmation.

I'm an epidemiologist by training and that's my 2 cents. I'm not arguing further sir. Be that as it may, they should be conmended for stepping up to support in any way at this time.

Thank you,

Odetokun3:

Dullard. Will they carry suspected cases with operational vehicles

Ambulance can serve the functions of operational vehicles to some extent while operational vehicles can't serve a function of ambulance. In a covid 19 situation

Olodo. Will they trek to go do contact tracing or use ambulances for logistics?

Odetokun3:
Operational vehicles are more important than ambulances

All those vehicles will be shared to some directors and superiors. Why not 20 ambulances and five operational vehicles

In case you didn't know, he has donated 1bn to the private sector coalition asides this and also bought foodstuff, medical equipment and supplies of about 1.5bn Naira. This same person has almost finished a 600bed permanent isolation centre in Kano. What are you talking about?

Pr0cter:
Let me tell you all one fact.

This billionaire doesn't care about you.

The reason for the donation to Federal Government is for favourable business policies so that he can make more billions and not necessarily because he has the masses at heart.

Same intention goes with UBA, AccessBank, and many other organizations.

So don't be angry when they don't give you the money directly. They know what they are doing.

My brother, read... He also donated 100000 facemasks, 1000 testing kits, 1000gloves, 2000protective goggles, 100medical protection gear. Which other kits you want?

BrutusOj:
Nice one. But it would have made more sense if those doing the donations buy medical equipments/facilities and donate like Dr Paul Enenche of Dunamis church, Daddy G.O and that Chinese man did, cos we all know that those at the top must embezzle part of the fund raised by good and concerned Nigerians.

It is estimated that Nigeria will need about 120billion naira to combat this. Good luck waiting for the government to do this alone. We should be grateful we have private sector individuals who can step and support in these times of not, may Italy and Spain not be our portion in this covid-19 fight
