WHY AYO FAYOSE? some folks have been wondering and asking. I believe this little exposition will open your eyes beyond media propaganda of the media.

In 1999, Adeniyi Adebayo was the governor of EKITI STATE under ALLIANCE FOR DEMOCRACY (AD). Adebayo won election on a platter of gold not because he was popular but because of his father's recognition and AD reputation as AWOLOWO's party and no south west state would be in opposition to the party.

Adebayo's rule was characterised with gross failure, mismanagement of fund and 'paddy-paddy' government (despite the fact that PDP was not a humilating opposition). The elites, who now form E11, and some traditional rulers connived with Adebayo to loot the state dry! Civil servants were owed salaries in months, health services was luxury and potable water was beyond the reach of the common man!

During this time, a man came from the back of beyond and started erecting signpost everywhere in Ekiti State 'AYO FAYOSE FOR GOVERNOR' 'WHO IS AYO FAYOSE?'. That was 1999, 4 yrs to another election. He backed up his publicity with action by running free mobile health services and potable water for the peple of Ekiti. He saw the failure of Adebayo's government and capitalised on it. For four years, he used his own money to run parallel government for Ekiti people. Adebayo mistook him for jester because he beleived incumbent could never loose an election and no yoruba state will vote for PDP. I don't want to bore you with the politics of how he won the PDP primary against SK Babalola, a personal friend of Obj, but in the general election, he beat Adebayo hands-down in 2003! Of course, it is logical, you have a failed gocernment for 4 yrs and someone who is not in govt is solving your problems with his own money, will he not make sense to kukuma elect the person as your governor?

He took over in 2003 and the looters of Ekiti, the E11 and some traditional rulers who were siphoning Ekiti resources through Adebayo came to meet him thinking it was going to be business as usual, but to their disappointment, Fayose told them off, then the battle-line was drawn. They deployed ll resources to fight him and the more the fought him, the stronger he hit them back. They started with his HND certificate scandal which he overcame. They employed the media and he fought back. From his 1st day in office till when he left, it was from one battle to another. Despite that, he was developing the state. He started the dualization of Ado-Ekiti, paid all the debts of Adebayo, strenghtened the health sector, make unprecendeted improvement in education and agriculture with lots of road construction all through the state. Then, in every three months, Obj will have reason to come down to Ekiti to commission one project or the other. That was why he was christianed "the Architect of the modern Ekiti State' May I also state that latest, by 26th of the month, civil servants have received their salaries in full. allowances were paid promptly and condition of service improved.

He was in war with the elites and some kabiyesis who wished to continue to milk the state dry. In 2006, they succeeded in buying over the house of assembly and an impeachment notice was served on him after promising the speaker, Friday Aderemi that he would be the governor in his stead. The Chief judge constituted a panel of inquiry which discharged the governor of any wrong doing. Dissatisfied with the result of the panel, the HOA, unconstitutionaly removed the Chief judge that did their bid by constituting another panel which now indicted Fayose and pronounced him impeached.

Fayose insisted he was still the governor since the HOA has no power in law to remove and appoint judges, since he was then already out of favour with OBJ, he was stripped off his security details. He was now a governor in the government house without security. He received a call that some people were coming to assasinate him in the govt. house, he had to jump over fence and run to exile.

Immediately his whereabout was not known, the speaker (who is now late) declared himself the governor and the Deputy governor said she was the governor in the absence of the governor. This led to a declaration of State of emmergency in the state by Obasanjo, for which Olurin was made the administrator.

Even if Rivers election is conducted with Buhari as INEC Chairman, Tinubu as REC, Fayemi as LG Collation Officer and Amaechi as Head of INEC media, PDP will still sweeeeeeeep Rivers in grand style.

No one wants APC in Rivers 'cause Amaechi has been messing Rivers State up, no good infrastructures and development contrary to what we had expected of him. He has been busy fighting GEJ and funding APC with the state's allocation. Sadly, most of you here have never been to SS/SE let alone Rivers State, I grew up in PH, and still visit there very often. Peaceful men - Dakuku or Tonye (My personal preference) or

Instead, they took it as a fight between Amaechi and Wike. It was not. Amaechi had already delivered Nigeria for the APC. he was the DG of the campaign. he was already fulfilled at the national stage - PROMOTION!!

but they still thought voting a THUG to spite a THUG would be the wise decision. . .

I'm sorry. To us here, it's makes a WHOLE lot of difference. The election was more about taming the Lion of Ubima than it was about Wike winning. Even GMB knows how significant Rivets is to the centre; ONLY you thinks otherwise.
