schurley: It seems you've a gross with the young lad, because what is it with all these your wild rant since the banner issue....why putting him him on same pedestal of established stars, and expecting world class return from him. Ffs if not for the ineffectiveness and inefficiency of our elephant project signing (Havetz) as a chief creator and provider, do you think we'll be here debating about Mount recieving a banner or getting an improved contract? He wouldn't even be regular face in our XI.
Let's face the Truth, Mount was in this same team without injury or fitness issue before the board thought it necessary to shatter our transfer record for Havertz, or you thought he was bought to play as a false 9 or for squad depth? Everybody on this board was optimistic and fired up to have Havertz in the team last summer TW. The hype around him being the next Ballack, Zidande and Cryuff rolled into one body has us all in the ecstasy that all our creative burden will be taken away with him delivering mouth watering numbers whilst Mount be called upon as a supporting cast in the scheme of things.
Kai was bought solely for that Am role, whereas he hasn't live up to the fans expectation. But a penniless academy product (Tokunbo Passat) busting of his ass to perform the functions and requirements required of a Havertz (believed Royce roll) being appreciated is where you draw the line.
It is evidenly clear that MM19 was top 5 intergral performer in our Cl triumph and the most consistence player across all competition last season, that was why he was voted by the fans as the best player for last season.
Mount haven't reach the category of Kdb, Bruno, and other elites Am but he is trying his possible best, of which contributed largely to our recent Ucl success.
If you want a banner for any other player, go to the West London, erect a banner with any player of your choice and keep sulking like a teen. No one would stop you from doing as you wish with your hard earn money, instead of foaming in the mouth all day for for a few fans appreciative gesture towards their favourite. I have no problem with mount. I have problem with people elevating him more than what he has shown so far. I wish he proves it though. |

Havertz10: I was grinning reading that write up
The truth that I have been shouting since, thankfully you have also seen it
When I saw the banner, it was reece james that came to my mind, when I talk about institutional racism as the main driver of modern racism they will say that i'm mad but perfect example, i'm not surprised that there is backslash against that banner
people are discussing retiring his number, they are so far gone sentimentally
https://twitter.com/ChelseaonBroad1/status/1437329716416032769?s=20[/quote]I do agree with you that a little bit of this reeks of institutional racism. Why is Reece James not as appreciated as mount. Or Hudson odoi or Tammy?? Why is only mount being elevated above the rest?? Why was mount awarded our best player when he was obviously not? |

BlueMann: I agree with most of your write up, if not all of it. I wasn't so surprised though; we know how much love locals tend to have for the academy graduates, and Mount - for some reasons, seems to be the unofficial 'face of the academy', especially that his set.
I too would've preferred it if it was a banner of the academy graduates that played key roles in the CL success, it would make more sense to show appreciation for the young guns that made it from Cobham to lead the club to European glory, considering how many failed to make it.
And true true, no one deserves a banner more than Mr Reliable.
Like I said though l, I'm not surprised. Not much of a big deal to me. As in ehh. Just look at the rubbish banner that azpi has and compare that to what we saw for mount. If it's because he's an academy boy, then I ask again, what of Reece James?? What of Hudson odoi who has even won more trophies for us than mount?? Just see the okrika material they used for azpi.

Again, Arnold had shown himself to be one of the best right backs in the world. Can you say the same for mount?? Is mount one of the best forwards in the world?? |

Havertz10: see hot fried plantain
Excuse me, you again, where are you getting these informations from?
Havertz was extremely influential in our games against the following teams
Man city, Real Madrid 2nd leg, crystal palace, Everton, not just by goals but his performances, would have added Fulham but I didnt particularly enjoy that performance despite his goals
Nobody can deny that anywhere You kwanu rest with this your havertz agenda. Right now, both of them are on exactly the same level. Of course, except for the fact that one cost us a bucket load of money and the other was nutured naturally by us. But at the end of the day, both are wildly inconsistent but also showing flashes of brilliance here and there. We just need to stop mounting pressure (pun intended) on them and hope they fully establish their potential. |

CAPdan21: I donno about this...Alexander Arnold has a mural outside anfield without being the best player in liverpool...both he and Robertson have huge banners unfurled in the kop during games at anfield...Fans are romantics and he as a local kid embody all the values of Liverpool..I don't see anything wrong with mount having his own banner tbh... That's even understandable if true. Arnold and Robertson are arguably the best full backs in the game currently. They have undoubtedly proven that. It is logical to honor players who are the best in the world in their positions. Can you honestly beat your chest and say mount is the best in the world in his position?? that's the entire point of my argument. Moreso, a mural is even understandable and as you pointed out, usually both of them are pointed out, not one without the other |

My issue is that it's not yet certain if he lives up to the hype or not. If willians stay with us has taught us anything, it's that "hardwork" as a forward can only carry you so far, you need the talent and technique to be a world beater. And not just Stamford, the one straddling the Thames Unfurling a 100 feet banner is not a "lil" appreciation. Mounts efforts in our champion's league was not unique to what others did, so why the excess "appreciation". |

I didn't want to say this on Saturday because I wanted to really enjoy our victory. But it has to be said that it didn't sit right with me seeing that 100ft banner of mason mount in the stands which the club unfurled. Such banners are unfurled for players who have reached a certain status with the club (legendary), but it seems that a section or certain individuals within the club are desperate to make mason mount the face of Chelsea football club and that is my grouse. Does he really deserve such an honor YET? What has he done separately from the rest of the players?? On what ground is he being singled out as special?? Why elevate him above the rest. Is it because he is an academy player?? Then what about Reece James, Hudson odoi, Andreas Christensen. Some of who were arguably more instrumental to the club than him. Why does it always have to be the local white boy that is singled out and not the rest? Why didn't they make it like "a class of 2015" or something?? Is it his performance?? Lol let's not even go there. His stats for the club so far are very mediocre for an attacker of a big club. I don't actually fault him here. I believe he is developing and as such still has time to improve and start giving us at least a 30 Goals\assists season. But that's the thing, he isn't there yet. So why single him out. You guys should get this, it's okay for our players to be acknowledged and appreciated but unfurling a 100ft banner goes beyond this. It's a whole different level. It's usually done as a cementing of legendary status. It's something that is done for a very few players and I do not believe that Mason mount deserves that honor yet. If our captain of this modern era, Cesar Azpilicueta who got to be who he is and where he is by virtue of hardwork, consistency, durability and versatility hasn't got his own banner, then why mason mount? If our own vice captain, jorginho who has just become the European best player (the first for us) and a top 4 balond'or nominee didn't have a banner, then why mason mount? Please note that this is not a complaint of Mason mount or a direct comparison with any other player. I recognize that mount has no control over who plans or unveils his banner. I'm calling out the powers that be who made this move. I believe it's a terrible agenda being peddled by a group who is desperate to sell this player as the face of our club. The ones who award him the player of the year when he is obviously not. The influencers who want to overhype his abilities most especially when he hasn't started living up to it. Again, I do hope and pray he eventually becomes one of the best in the world in his position. One we can all proudly call our own but he isn't yet which is why these moves are premature. All these could even end up having adverse effects on the player vis a vis an overinflated ego or an overwhelming feeling of self importance and being untouchable, not to talk of potential squad disharmony. Of course, these are purely assumptions but we've seen where these kind of things are only catalysts for problems. |

You tend to do this thing where you totally write off some players no matter how good they can be in spades. No matter whether there's improvement from when you first formed your opinion. No matter the strengths they have that make coaches select them. See for example your constant denigration of Ramires and Mikel. Anyways it's a win for Chelsea if he wins. You should see it as such. Don't forget Drogba. Ibime constantly derogated and hated Drogba. Drogba kept serving ibime LLL's back to back until he eventually saw the light. Again, nobody is perfect but you have to acknowledge when you've goofed. At this point, it's just ridiculous seeing ibimes hate on jorginho. |

Ibime: When was the last time a player won such award and half his fans want him out at club level Nothing like "half his fans". It is a minority. An inconsequential minority. No player is ever loved 100 percent by the fans. Eg, go to barcas thread last season and see some of them complaining about Messi, saying their football was now entirely about Messi and wishing he left for their tiki taka to continue. Some even hated that the entire club bowed to Messi. No matter how good or bad a player is, some fans will always fault and hate some of their players. Havertz has his doubters, rudiger has his doubters, mount has his doubters, likewise kovacic, likewise Silva, Christensen, chillwell, azpi, pulisic etc. Every single player have a section of fans unsatisfied with aspects of them and keep wishing for ultimate perfection. It is down to the wise ones to acknowledge and celebrate when any of the players have certainly improved tremendously. You can not rubbish a reputable international award because a player you don't like has won it. You are no better than reputable footballers, journalists and panel of judges that award this. Celebrate your own. Jorginho is now loved more and accepted by a vast majority of the club fans who will always celebrate our players successes. Moreso, our vice captain. For the main time, happily collect the wonderful L jorginho has served you. LLLibime.

Nna mehn, me I weak for some people oo. How will people easily forget how jorginho was the metronome of that beautiful football playing Napoli side. So much so that guardiola desperately cherished and wanted him. I still repeat that jorginho in guardiolas hand, he would constantly be on the biggest award stages. It's fair to say he didn't adapt on time to the EPL or that the players he paired with were misfitted but he has grown to be a powerful player for both club and country. Having the vice captaincy in both. His game has only evolved better. We are lucky to have him. Our own very first European best player in our history. We should be proud. I will continue to criticise him this season as always cos he just does not have these things, notwithstanding the luck he had last season. But he has improved tremendously. Every player evolves while playing. If world renowned coaches can see this, why can't you. Jorginho fully deserves his accolades. He is the best playmaker in the league right now. Ibime:

Like I said show me a Chelsea fan who did not criticise Jorginho before this season and I'll show you a born again Taliban. Only those who joined the thread this season can say their hands are clean.
I will not delude myself that Jorginho is good just because Tuchel parked bus for him in the UCL. We have seen nonentities like Ramsey, David Brooks and many others press him to death and dominate him. Even the Aston Villa and West Ham boys were still doing it last season. The only team in the Euros that put a man on him (Pedri) utterly dominated him.
Swiz123 who said in July 2020 that Busquets is far better than Jorginho, turned around in July 2021 and said that Jorginho will dominate Busquets in that game. What ended up happening is Busquets utterly dominated him. I wonder if we ask him after that game, whether he will do another volte-face I did not. I have always known jorginho was a gem in our midfield. A comptroller. A good recycler. A good passer of the ball. A system player. Good thing he's finally reaping his well deserved accolades in the world of football. You can only hate him more while he keeps shining. Every single player on earth has their weaknesses. It's about their strength overshadowing those weaknesses and jorginho's does. Learn to live with him. He's here to stay. |
