Biometrics. Where is the best centre for Canada Visitor Visa Biometrics. What should the applicant expect? Is it scheduled or you just arrive and queue?

Someone is billing my friend N100k for assisting with Visitor Visa and biometrics ($185 CAD) as the Nigerian Dollar card is not working. Is this a fair charge? What is a fair amount to refund the person in Naira.

Good day all and Happy New Month.
Please, I have been trying to pay for Canada visa application fee and biometrics but it keeps declining transactions.

Does it mean GTB Dollar Card is not accepted for payment?

What is the best way to make Canada visa fee payment in Nigeria. Please, anyone who has successfully made similar payment should help.

Thank you

Travel / Re: Over 40,000 Passports Ready, Yet To Be Collected – NIS by Donmatlock: 1:52am On Oct 31, 2021
Umuahia NIS Passport Office is a crime den. Do not trust Immigration Officers especially at Umuahia Passport Office along Ubakala Road in Abia State. They extort citizens coming to make or renew their passports and yet they wickedly hold onto it for several months. I am surprised that the shameless people in Immigration uniform are not ashamed of collecting bribes in daylight. It goes to tell you the rot in this country.

Their oga PCO Tobi is a very corrupt man. All the bribes go to him before they issue people passports, if you don't pay he won't approve your passport because no money was returned to him. Before he took over as the Passport Control Officer at Umuahia, that NIS office had good reputation. This Mr. Tobi should be removed and prosecuted. He is one of the few bad eggs in this country.

Those who have parents or family members that are rogue immigration officers should be weary. The money they extort from citizens would being curse upon them. If you make people cry and speak words against you then that is a curse upon your life except you repent and change.

All those extorting money from Nigerians shall never know peace. As the collect those money from innocent and poor people to enrich themselves, they will never know peace and their wealth would evaporate mysteriously.

Sack PCO Umuahia and prosecute him!!!

Yorubas will be shocked! What happened to Awolowo and Abiola will happen sooner. Watch how El Rufai and co will outsmart them. The funny thing is that, One of the Southern Regions will still remain in opposition

Some fools have forgotten that the Yorubas have always been in the opposition. Different generations shift with power. Tinubu was an opposition, Awolowo same. Who cajoled them during these periods? It goes to show the poor history they know. After Awolowo danced with the Oligarchs, how did he end? How far did Abiola go after shunning Arthur Nzeribe who helped him clinch the ticket? Tinubu better be careful or he may find himself in jail. They are preparing his list at EFCC. He better stay low like the "Lord of the Yorubas" and support a better candidate.

Some idiots here are so senseless to attack themselves. Meanwhile, the so called party bigots are living over your miseries. Better think about your lives and future instead of engaging in tribalistic rubbish.

Google has invited about 200 Local Guides to visit its headquarters in California. Nine of the invitees are Nigerians and will be flying the flag in Silicon Valley.

This is an all expenses paid event. Joining the Local Guide program is free but you must be contributing regular information to Google Maps and doing related community work.
Technology Market / Google Local Guides by Donmatlock: 7:11pm On Jul 01, 2019
If you haven't heard of Google Local Guides then you are missing so much. This is a volunteer programme that involves adding accurate information on Google Maps. You can take this as a community project to add businesses and organizations on the map. You can also tap into it as part of a digital marketing business including 360 Photo consultancy.

Since 2016, more than 400 persons have gone to California as a result of their contributions in 2018 about 150 were invited and 2019 it increased to 200 members who will be at Googleplexfor almost a week. All expense paid.

Ugobestikyblog:
Former Minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has raised the alarm over plans by known individuals to sponsor a campaign of calumny against him.

This is coming as President Muhammadu Buhari looks set to send names of Ministerial nominees to the National Assembly.

Amaechi in a statement from his Media Office, said the plan is to use activities of the current Acting Board of the Niger-Delta Development Commission, NDDC to indict him.

The Former Governor of Rivers state and two-time Director-General of the President Buhari Campaign Organization added that his family are part of the already concluded plan.

According to him, “We have uncovered a well-oiled plot to orchestrate a heavily funded smear campaign of calumny and lies against Rt. Hon. law school documents with her to the embassy to show she won't abscond and to prove her ties because she will surely return before her call to bar date. Suggestions please

Yes, she should go with her call to bar. Let her find a space to tell the VO that she would be back to att3nd her call to bar. I was able to say something to the guy that interviewed me and it helped.

I just returned from California and may visit again during the Yule tide holidays

Let me thank the person who started this group and all contributors. I discovered here when searching for like interview questions and requirements.
Today, I picked up my Passport and Visa and hopefully should be in the U.S next week.

I attended two interviews within a month. The first interview went well but I was out on AP and later asked to red, hedule. God, how do I find another schedule. I went for emergency, stating that my conference is close and I need a decision. I almost have up because I read somewhere that such A P may be a sign of refusal. Yet, I prayed and cAlled until, my emergency appointment was approved. 6:30am . Nigerians where already waiting even those for 9am. This time I was over confident because I knew the first time I did well with conversation and the VO in booth 9 and later 15 was opened. He knew my area. In this second round, I inserted an ID card which made him issue me white paper immediately. As I stepped out with tears in my heart, many in the hall started congratulating me, even three families that got rejected on my line.

First Interview.

guys that have done interview. did you go with your phones? where did you keep it? cos the instructions on the ds160 form says no phones.

Lagos or Abuja. Don t you won't be allowed to go on with your phone, or any device that has battery. Just go with your documents only. Wallet and handkerchief are allowed though.
If it is Lagos, you can give it to the policemen in front of the embassy, they are very friendly and won't collect a dime from you.

Yes, traditional wear is cool. Just be simple and smart. They aren't really looking at your clothing. Funny enough, 90% of Nigerians I saw inside the interview hall were dressed in formal wears but all the Visa Officers were beautifully dressed in Nigeria traditional attire! grin

Good day my fellow Nairalander. This is my 1st time of posting here, though I bumped on this forum through google in 2015. Then I was preparing my wife to go and give birth in the US. I couldn't get appointment for her before her due date so we forfeited the #32,000 visa fee we paid and saved the #2million we budgeted for the project.
Fast forward to 2018, I paid another Visa fee for myself and book an appointment for July 2018.
On the the day, I got to the US Lagos Embassy by 7:30(my appointment time) but ended up joining the 10am batch. I went through all the necessary procedures and eventually queue for the interview. I usually have this superstitious believe of avoiding women conducting interview for me. So my prayers was to be interviewed by a man. But alas when it was my turn I realised a white lady was going to interview me. I had 4 people in front of me and under 10 minutes she had refused all of them. ( the fastest was the lady before me -less than a minute, she was asked her destination 3 times but no response -though she was responding but she was not audible at all, due to fear). Then I heard Next! I move confidently to her cubicle.
Below is the excerpt:
Me: good morning ma.
Vo: morning... your passport
Me: handed it over
Vo: where are u traveling to in the US?
Me: Florida. Orlando Florida
Vo: why?
Me: for vacation & to check out so and so company( I mentioned 2 top companies in Orlando that do same biz I do in Nigeria) to see if we can do one or two things together
Vo: what do you mean by one or two things?
Me: I explained
....:Vo typing....
Vo: you worked for...(she mentioned my company)
Me: yes. I explain the company has a subsidiary and what each company does.
Vo: so which of the company do you work for?
Me: I owned both companies.
.......Vo continued typing....
Vo: the company u want to visit in Orlando, do u want to buy equipment from them?
Me: yes if I see any one I like.
......vo continue typing.....
Vo: how many staff do u have?
Me: 32 consisting of management staff, supervisors and operatives.
......vo typing......
Vo: are you married?
Me: yes with a son and I'm expecting another baby soon.
Vosadpicked up my passport from her table and flipped through )
Have you traveled before?
Me: yes to SA, Swaziland and Kenya.
Vo: continue typing for what looks like eternity and me I just rested on the cubicle for support... meanwhile people were just been refused left and right..
She paused and looked left and right...:the blue paper was at the right hand and white at the left hand...and picked the white paper and circle the address to pick up my visa. I wasn't hearing what she was saying cause I was overjoyed in my heart...just pick up the paper and thanked her.

This is my first time and I have always been praying that I should get the visa at my first attempt and God answered.

My advice are:
*One should followed this Nairaland properly, read through and digest.
*be organised and prepared.
*Dress well
*Be confident and polite
*and lastly be honest especially with your occupation.

Thank you.

congratulations! all the best. safe trip
