Politics / Re: These Are/were The Three(3)worst Governors Since 1999 by DonNeon: 3:45pm On Oct 23, 2023
mokwechineme:
Its funny and interesting that these people we are discussing here are seeing these or pointed to see them because i got a shocking phone call on one of my threads. -, we must continue this discussion because Nigeria is for all of us. No one is more Nigerian than the next person no matter the position you wielded or wielding today.

I have actively followed and participated in Nigerian politics since 1999 and i can boldly discuss the political permutations during these period in review. Nigerians have left their touchlight and focus on the federal government giving the state free hand to operate as they wish. The governors if actively engaged would have in their own capacities as chief executives of the states fill in the gaps(supplemented the federal government)for a better Nigeria but they wouldnt do that. They have hidden under the focus on the federal government to squander government resources meant for Nigeria's development.

These are/were my worst governors since 1999 - Okezie Ikpeazu, Ben Ayade, Dapo Abiodun, Godwin Obaseki, Ifeanyi Okowa, Willie Obiano, Chinwoke Mbadinuju, Uzodimma, Yahaya Bello, Diri, Adebayo Alao-Akala. However, three(3) out of these list stood out as the worst in the history of governorship and i will itemize it from bottom to the top

3 At number three is Ben Ayade - former governor Cross River state. Donald Duke set the standard under which subsequent administrations would easily thrive. Liyel Imoke tried but Ben Ayade came in and make total mockery of governance. His focus was more on white elephant projects against the people's need. At a point in the middle of his administration, he appointed 5000 aides - SAs and SSAs and it was that bad.

2 In second position is Dapo Abiodun of Ogun state. Ogun is a state that birthed some of the most prominent Nigerians but it has failed in the state leadership. The chief executives of that state since 1999 has failed the state woefully. There is no reason Ogun shiuldnt be competing with Lagos in terms of infrastructures because the industrialization in the Nigeria economic capital Lahos hugely and immencely overflowed into Ogun state. Dapo Abiodun happens to personify the ineptitude and clear failure of the Ogun state leadership

1 The first position goes to Okezie Ipkeazu, immediate past governor of Abia state. Just like Ogun state, Abia has had terrible experience when it comes to state governors. Orji Uzo Kalu failed as a governor, his successor failed as well but Okezie's failure is clearly in another different level. He supervised and saw to the complete destruction of whatever is left of developments of the past administrations. At a point he left his state and duties and was following Wike as a servant. a whole executive governor.

If u feel any governor should or shouldnt be there, please do point that out.

Lol, Godwin Obaseki doesn't deserve to be there; The mainstream media seems to be against him, for him to fall into the same category with Ikpeazu, Ayade, Yahaya bello and co.

His post here on nairaland or other social media handle of his can direct those in need of help there.....The whatsapp or telegram group will just be to ensure his generosity is not been exploited by a few persons...

Inexplicably, the Word on Sunday thread seems to have disappeared. I did not ask for the thread to be taken down and received no communication preceding or following this action. It’s unclear to me what may have informed this decision to have the thread removed. It is unclear if events on the thread broke Nrland rules to the extent of forcing a removal.

The thread was an important part of our planned Greater Purpose initiative and I hope it will continue on Nairaland and eventually off-Nrland on a dedicated platform of its on.

Good evening sir Rontolo, Thank you for all you do..... I feel that thread was taken down by mods because of the high number of persons there with alternate accounts...

Going forward with your initiative, i will suggest you use a platform you will have control over, a telegram group or whatsapp group preferablly.... This way will reduce the number of persons using fake stories and alternate account from explioting your generosity ....(my humble opinion)
Education / Edo 2024: Again, Students Beg Catholic Priest To Join Guber Race by DonNeon: 8:52am On Jul 11, 2023
Some students in Edo on Monday joined the call by various groups and other notable citizens for Rev. Fr. Andrew Obinyan to contest the 2024 gubernatorial election.

Recall that a Group, known as Youth for Good Governance (YGG), a political wing of the Arigbe Victor Foundation, had appealed to Fr. Obinyan, to join the Edo governorship race in the interest of the people
The students made the appeal in a colloquium organised by the National Association of Edo state students, University of Benin Chapter in Benin.

The theme of the colloquium was the role of the Youths in National Development, using education and diversification of the economy as a case study.

The president of the association, Comrade Evans Ohiosun, who made the appeal on behalf of the students, stated that, with a man like Fr. Obinyan at the helms of affairs, the people would feel the positive impact of good governance.

Ohiosun described the priest as a good man, who has done a lot for humanity.

“Having spent over 10 years in the university parish as the priest, relating with the management, staff and students, the priest has displayed a high level of trust, competence and capacity to effectively manage human and material resources.

“Fr. Obinyan has continued to give Nigeria students hope through his various scholarship schemes,” he said.

According to him, “we have agreed to mobilise support for the priest if he agrees to contest the forthcoming Edo governorship election.”

Fr. Obinyan, the Guest Speaker at the colloquium, said in his lecture, titled ‘the role of students in nation building’, urged the students to see themselves as an integral part of nation building.

He admonished students to shun acts that were inimical to the society and enjoined them to work hard and imbibe the virtues of honesty, loyalty and integrity.

He, however, appealed to all stakeholders to set up special intervention funds to cater for the special needs of students, provide easy access to loans with low interest rate and flexible repayment schedule.

Continue pray for them because it's the bondage of deceit that's at play. It has magnified itself and have taken central control. Pray for them as you expose the weapons of deceit

The quelea birds almost showed me shege when I planted maize earlier this year in school as practicals....

We had to cover the ears of the maize with nylon to prevent the birds from raiding everything we had labour for...

After harvesting and sales you'll see how farmers especially those who are into small- scale farming find it difficult to make a living out of their proceeds....
