Dude’s trying to mend fences and right the wrongs of his predecessor. Dickson’s selfish interest made the PDP to lose Bayelsa safe for the SC judgement. The governor should get down to business already! Four years is few secs away! Enough of the gallivanting up and down. PDP is presently unpopular in that state, Gov. Diri should do well to make Bayelsans enjoy the true dividends of democracy. |

Arakunrin Akeredolu all the way! The man has performed beyond expectation (Nigeria standard). Meanwhile if APC fail to put its house in order they might lose out to the opposition in that state. Knowing full well they struggled in last year’s presidential election. PDP has 2 senators from Ondo state. It means the party is still on ground in that state. |

I agree with you gidgiddy: As much as I think that Ihedioha was robbed, this Bayelsa case has shown that the supreme court does not reverse its self, they cant afford to. If the supreme starts reversing its judgment, everyone whoever lost at the supreme will come for judgment review.
The Supreme court never reverses its self, the only thing they can do is correct a clerical error in the judgment
Ihedioha and Lyon never stood a chance |
Politics › Re: Supreme Court Dismisses Lyon And APC’s Application For Lacking In Merit by donpapa(m): 3:31pm On Feb 26, 2020 |
I think he was referring to a certain judgement that declared Nwosu ab initio as the valid APC gubernatorial candidate in the election. If that’s the case, it means Nwosu might be disqualified because he was also the flag bearer of AA party in the said election. Also, the issue of the total number of voters being above the accredited voters doesn’t add up. If the PDP are able to prove that the judges erred in their earlier judgement, Maybe (just maybe) Uzodinma might be sent packing! PopsiAde: I don't think I understand what you mean by the process of Ihedioha coming back to power. can you please explain? |
Politics › Re: Supreme Court Dismisses Lyon And APC’s Application For Lacking In Merit by donpapa(m): 3:13pm On Feb 26, 2020 |
As far as my own perspective, their admittance to errors as the case may be doesn’t amount to upturning of the judgement but to set the records straight for suitable precedence for the future. Having said that, i think the Imo case is quite different. Though I haven’t read the PDP grouse about it. Leo3333: Wrong.
The Justices also said that the "...applicants failed to point out errors"
The keyword here is "errors".
The SC can upturn its earlier ruling should there be a proven case of clerical errors, which could render the judgment unsuitable as a precedent for similar future cases.. |

“There must be an end to litigation even if we review this judgment, every disaffected litigant will bring similar applications and the finality of Supreme Court judgments will be lost.” We told them that they can’t get the Supreme Court to reverse itself in a unanimous judgement. It was direct and clear! Otherwise, it would be tantamount to aberration in law. The SC remains the highest court in the land and no OTHER court can upturn its judgement. Perhaps they should go to heaven to review the reviewed SC judgement. Oh well, if what @ChristianNorth wrote below is anything to go by, then let’s keep our fingers crossed. ChristianNorth: Exactly what I said. Reversing its judgement in Bayelsa will make the court lose what makes it final.
In IMO, we are not asking the court to set aside itself but to enforce its earlier judgment that declared Nwosu as the rightful candidate of APC.
This automatically will return Ihedioha.
PDP is coming |

Politics › BREAKING: Supreme Court Dismisses Lyon And Apc’s Application For Lacking In Meri by donpapa(op): 2:16pm On Feb 26, 2020 |
The Supreme Court has dismissed an application for review of the judgment which sacked the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa state, David Lyon and his deputy, Senator Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo.
According to Justice Amina Augie who read the judgment, the application lacks merit, adding that the decisions of the court are final.
She added that the applicants failed to point out errors, stating that the judgment is final for all ages.
The apex court judge said the judgment is final in the ‘real sense’ and no court on earth can review the judgment.
“There must be an end to litigation even if we review this judgment, every disaffected litigant will bring similar applications and the finality of Supreme Court judgments will be lost.”
She added that the applications are frivolous and vexatious, and awarded the cost of N10 million against the applicants to be personally paid by their counsel.

Dansuqi: Once election concludes, all pre election cases are overtaken by election tribunal.being sworn in does not give them immunity from electoral cases.going by records,it is time the supreme court rescinds its decisions.that time is here.the pressure is much Forgery in its entirety is a criminal offense. PDP only used that as a bait to sought the disqualification of the APC candidates. What pressure? Was there no pressure on Imo judgement too? We can’t be too sentimental about this my brother, the law of the land prevails! |
