Judeerons32:In the case of Yahaya Bello vs Faleke, why did APC insisted on submitting Faleke’s name alongside Bello to INEC despite the fact that Faleke refused to ran with him(Bello)? https://nigeriancurrent.com/2015/11/28/apc-picks-bello-retains-faleke-as-running-mate/ It’s a testament to the fact that no candidate can run for a gubernatorial election without a deputy. In the eyes of the law, Faleke was Bello’s I running mate in that election. Btw, the Kogi incidence was never envisaged by our law, hence the lacuna! PDP would have done well if they challenged Bello’s nomination in court knowing fully well he wasn’t a registered voter in Kogi as at that time. But then, fate has it ways of smiling at people. |
My point exactly! mushystuff: |
ZAWs:Why single out Mary Odili? There were 5-members on that panel and they ALL gave a unanimous judgement. The same Mary Odili didn’t fail woefully and exhibited her devilish attitude when she gave a favorable judgement for APC on Kaduna and Nassarawa gubernatorial cases? Why are you people like this? ![]() It’s your personal decision if you have issue with the Bayelsa judgement, but stop the (blame game) hypocrisy! This singular act won’t grow and strengthen our democracy. |
Dansuqi:Oh well, that would definitely be explicitly dealt with in the SC judgement review. The joint-ticket ish must have emboldened the PDP to approach the court for the disqualification of APC deputy governorship candidate. They (PDP) carefully waited for the INEC substitution window to elapse before they took it up at the court of competent jurisdiction. Let’s not forget these politicians knows themselves. Dem be padipadi ![]() |
Iamgrey5:I am not a lawyer, but do well to read section 36 of the electoral act. Yes, he was elected but the joint ticket only cease to bind them after they’ve been sworn in. Even though you and i know that it would be impossible for anyone to instigate litigation against the governor and the deputy because they enjoy immunity. Meanwhile, the same right the APC has to appeal the High Court’s judgement is the same right PDP has to appeal the appellate court’s judgement at the Supreme Court. After all, it wasn’t a post-senatorial election matter that only ends at the Court of Appeal level. Even if the SC erred on there judgement, I’m afraid it might not be upturned as there was no precedence in that regard. But then, anything can happen. We can only keep our fingers crossed as events unfolds in weeks to come. |
Typical APC propaganda! ![]() torgod: |
Iamgrey5:Wasn’t it a joint ticket? The electoral act was so clear on that. Secondly, PDP only appealed the case after the Election not before. Apc actually won the appeal in the Appeal court.Does that change the fact that it was a pre-election matter? |
Are we still on this Bayelsa matter?

This country is a joke! Isn’t that Ize-Iyamu? Who would ever think Pastor Ize-Iyamu and Oshiomhole would be wining and dining together considering how they attacked each other prior to 2016 Edo Guber polls? Tables go soon turn if he succeeds in installing Ize-Iyamu as governor in Edo. No be by force to be godfather nah |
Farooq was only reiterating what we already know a long time ago! It’s a pitiable situation we found ourselves because of some microscopic few that are only after the share of the spoils. It’s shameful that the politicians of APC extraction wouldn’t see anything bad in the excessive misrule of Buhari/Kyari regime to call a spade a spade, instead they would turn a blind eye and castigate people that hit the nail on the head to tell them the truth. It’s contemptuous to see that some nitwit still supports this government. What has changed since Buhari’s ascendancy to power in 2015? • Insecurity in the country is on a high. • There is no precedence to the kind of nepotism we’re experiencing today. • Corruption fight is more like Rudeboy’s audio where they go after dissenting voices. • Looted funds recovered by EFCC are being re-looted. • No improvement in education sector as their wards go abroad to study. • The health sector is abysmal, even the president visits UK for medical tourism every now and then! • The power situation is as erratic as the previous administration. • Citizens no longer has the right to protest without them being shot by the military. They might even pick you up for treason. That’s if they don’t pay some jobless youths stipends to organize a counter protest to support the government! If i register my grievances on the internet they might arrest and charge me for cyber-stalking or insulting the president! • The judiciary ceased to be the last hope of the common man under Buhari and the national assembly has been pocketed. We’ve never had it this bad in this country, Never! If this is the change they preached to us, then NIGERIA IS INDEED STUCK! Because the surrogate president would still be around till 2023 and beyond (as they’re in power to handpick their successor)!!! |

haywire07:You no know Naija politics? Even you sef go do worse. The race for 2023 don begin my brother.

A judge recused himself from a case having been accused of possible compromise to give a bias judgement, the appellate court in it’s wisdom ordered that the case should be returned to him for continuation of the trial. Oh well, i don’t know how these things works, isn’t it in the best interest of both parties that the case should be assigned to another judge? Justice Okon Abang? I have nothing to say to him. This one the SC is short of judges, i won’t be surprised if he’s elevated to the Supreme Court someday. ![]() |
These guys are bereft of ideas to tackle the unending insecurities in this country and they’re not admitting it. A government that fails in its primary responsibility of securing the lives and properties of it’s citizen is a failure. The NSA’s recent outburst is a testament to the fact that the Buhari’s government is insensitive to the plight of Nigerian on insecurity. |

Same old story! Misplaced priorities! |
What’s the position of BMO in the constitution of this country? Would the life span outlive Buhari’s presidency? How are they remunerated? With tax payers money? So many unanswered questions! |
adekunley93:The question concerning the geographical spread has already been dealt with by INEC. In the face of the law, there (APC) move is tantamount to efforts in futility.

Balderdash! ![]() |
Way to go! Why destroying public properties because the judgement doesn’t favor you. |
They are heading back to court to ask the SC to rescind it’s own ruling? I don’t seem to understand. |

“You can be doing your report but the money in question belongs to a VIP in the ruling party, what are you going to do to him? Nonsense! The VIP no get name? I just tire for this people. ![]() |

Who go dey the new party? ![]() People needs to understand that there are only two political parties in Nigeria viz: - Political Elites. - The electorates. The former has mastered the act of manipulating the latter to their advantage during electioneering processes by using the Us versus Them template. Meanwhile they have only one common goal; To siphon our collective patrimony. It’s been like this since time immemorial and sadly there is no end in sight because they’d frustrate all efforts to change the status quo! They’re the decision makers, they make our laws, they choose to obey the laws that favors them. George Orwell had them in mind when he wrote his book (Animal farm) in 1945. One of the best African exports Late Fela Anikulapo Kuti talked about them and even lampooned them in his songs while he was around. But there is one interesting thing about Nigerians, we only complain when it doesnt favour us. Even me that am ranting here, i don’t know if i would be any different when/if i find myself in position of authority. Who wouldnt join them if he cant win them? I weep for the future of this country. It’s so saddening and shameful! ![]() |
These people are really taking Nigerians for granted. It’s worrisome!! ![]() |
