Both Taiwo Akerele and John Mayaki are from the same ward (001) in Akoko Edo. They're from Igarra (my town) the headquarters of Akoko Edo.

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo on Monday in Benin announced the appointment of Osarodion Ogie as the Secretary to the State Government.

Also appointed were Taiwo Akerele as Chief of Staff and John Mayaki as interim Chief Press Secretary.

Mr. Obaseki had before making the announcement, met with the state Head of Service and Permanent Secretaries.

He directed the permanent secretaries to take full charge of the affairs of their ministries, pending appointment of commissioners.

The governor solicited for maximum cooperation from the civil service to enable him discharge his mandate effectively.

He expressed confidence in the civil service, and pledged that his administration would build a more stronger, vibrant, trusted, competent and reliable workforce to meet the challenges ahead.

“I have no doubt about the capacity of the civil service, but we will also need to clear the clog on the wheel of progress,” he added.

The governor said the administration would re-evaluate the recruitment process into the service to ensure that merit and objectivity were not compromised.

So where did that lie emanate from? It's so painful that most people who are still traumatized over the election loss of Jonathan have chosen to remain foolish. If not foolishness, no sane fellow would believe that lies.

The first place I saw the accusation was on facebook. After they accused Buhari of sponsoring Clinton's campaign with about $500m, they asked them to bring a proof to substantiate their claim. They uploaded a video of CNN (which I didn't bother to download because of the comments I read) where they said a Nigerian by the name 'Shellharry' (whatever that means) sponsored her campaign with $5m (according to people who watched it). Nowhere in that video was Buhari's name nor $500m mentioned.

Even after some people who were supporting those who accused Buhari of supporting the campaign with $500m watched the video, they still chose to believe that he indeed did so. How can one be more foolish than that!

It's so painful that I can no longer find that post on facebook. I would have uploaded it here to debunk their lies.

No o..I don't think Edo people are that overambitious. Though the good people of Edo North might dig it out with an Esanman in 2024 but I don't think a Benin man would re contest. It would be solely between the Esans and the Afemai.

They may say I'm too young to seek for the Gubernatorial seat of our State come 2024 though. That's why I'm considering HoR before then (if money show sha ).

However, latest 2023, Politics Section should be able to produce at least 5 House of Reps members and 10 House of Assembly members.

Wow. The Nairaland family will support you. Party aside, it won't be a bad idea to have some of our own in the States and National Assembly.

Succeeding Obaseki would be hard for people from our axis though. After Obaseki (or POI as the case may be), an Esan man is gonna be there. If they fail in their first term, we (Edo North) are taking over.
