Programming / Re: How To Add To Cart by Donpre(m): 6:53pm On Jun 17
You can simply search how to do that on google and get many different implementation from stackoverflow

The basic idea is create an array called cart, and add or remove products from it. You might need to persist the cart, then the implementation for that would depend on which backend you're using, and if its using sessions or RESTAPI.

Either way, since you didn't provide any context, simply google your problem, hopefully you'll find better answers

Programming / What Is The Best Approach To Monetization For The Nigerian Market? by Donpre(m): 8:24pm On Mar 26
This is an open question to developers and the general public

What do you think is a better monetization model for the Nigerian society considering the economic challenges.

I understand that a lot depends on the demographics and other factors but generally, what would you go for?

1. A low-cost monthly subscription model

2. A one-time payment model

3. Advertisement(Free)

Interesting discuss anticipated. I feel I am underestimate the purchasing power of Nigerians but I might be wrong

I've downloaded the freecodecamp javascript video, tho it's 3hrs long, I'm still in one hour
I put the video at the end but how he ended it didn't seem like he did some projects or is that just one of the videos?
there's no way you'll learn everything from one 3hrs video

take the parts he taught and build projects yourself or just watch another video on a project

Programming / Re: Steps/skills Needed To Be An Android Developer. by Donpre(m): 12:22pm On Mar 03
For some reason people run away from official documentations which are pretty good especially for recent frameworks and well established ones

This is the best place to start is https://developer.android.com/

Java or Kotlin? I'll leave that to experienced devs

smaller gigs sure, underpaying jobs? Not necessarily. The difference between upwork and fiverr is that on upwork most clients ( if they have the money) wants to pay more for who can do the job best. So you don't really need to low ball yourself.
Thanks

Good morning guys, for landing first gigs, would you advise taking on smaller, underpaying jobs to build a profile and JSS score?

Programming / Re: Which Guarantees Higher Returns Website Or App? by Donpre(m): 8:23pm On Feb 14
Depends on what your business is.

I would say a website as it can be reached across multiple devices and operating system. You would only have to maintain one code base unlike apps that would need maintenance across multiple platforms.

You could plan ahead and build your website on REST APIs, that way half the work for the app if you ever come back to do that would be done already.

I believe that since they introduced 'paid connect' system, it has been easier to get account approved and yes i uploaded a valid ID, you will be asked to also, this will most likely be after you get your first job ( you will be asked to do video verification too), uploading ID and video verification is for 'verification' of account not 'approval' of account. Your account has already been approved
thanks.... I was quite confused for a while.

qtguru:

Yes they have relaxed the rejection rate. Next week I will drop some proposals and tips, however this is what also works, look for a category that makes sense, do a working example and add to your portfolio. They look at it alot.
would be expecting this and whatever codeoboy95 has to add.

its one thing to be accepted and another to land a gig

since you are able to apply to jobs, your profile has been accepted

Okay, i'm still in disbelief though. It should be harder according to popular opinion.

Did you have to verify anything with a valid ID or something official. I haven't yet, and its fueling my disbelief
Programming / Re: Upwork Thread (Questions/Help/Advice) by Donpre(m): 6:39pm On Feb 13
how do i know if my profile has been accepted or rejected?
Its been accessible since i registered as a mobile developer, I even applied for a job.
Programming / Re: Please Should I Buy A Desktop Pc Or An Android Device And Download Termux On It by Donpre(m): 4:01am On Feb 13
if you have stable power supply go for the desktop, if not save up more and get a laptop even if its an older one.

termux is great for learning but terrible when you have to build serious software which you will at some point

- A browser
- A text editor(Notepad++, Vscode, Sublime, Atom)

I used MDN(Mozilla developer's network). Its a website.... For videos, Freecodecamp's javascript crash course should be good enough

Build a system that solves a problem. You never know how much you've mastered CRUD until you have to manipulate data in certain very specific ways.

Other things you should learn are:
- Authentication
- Multiple user types and permissions
- Websockets and real-time data

Huge market filled with poor people. Nigeria's market is at most 10 million people. People who have the money to actually pay for actual services. Brazil has the same population with Nigeria and Less poorer people. Their government is also very receptive to innovation.
I see your point

But then successes like paystack, flutterwave, interswitch are proof that there's a market here despite what seems like a never-ending apocalypse
Why else would stripe pay a whooping $200M for an African expansion?.... despite already having shares

The fact is Brazil or some other country might have the same population and an even higher GDP but is it a growing market?. Can you survive the competition there?
In Nigeria, there's virtually zero local competition for most IT sectors. Game dev? Automation? IoT?

But again I see your point, despite the allure of the Nigerian market, all it takes is an ill-planned policy to end it all
If only we had better leaders and policy makers, if only

Same thought occurred to me when I saw the news, "What's to happen to the numerous fintechs who were trying to establish early dominance in the crypto industry?, Years of planning, toiling and not to mention capital all gone"

The problem is Nigeria is still a huge market, how do you overlook such in search of greener pastures somewhere else?

Can someone build an app with React? I want the app to work offline with or without internet connection
Yes but with React Native. Works like a native app only slightly slower
Programming / Re: I Started Learning Java by Donpre(m): 4:04pm On Feb 01
Since you already know css, html and javascript, React Native would be the easiest route to take to building a mobile app.
Programming / Re: Please What Will I Need To Become Android App Developer by Donpre(m): 11:34pm On Jan 29
2 things a developer needs is:

- How to google things.... Seriously, the answer to this question is all over the internet as android is about a decade old

- Official documentation which will provide you with resources about how to start... https://developer.android.com

But first things first.... Do you know any programming language properly, from variables to Classes? If yes, are any of these languages Java or Kotlin?... If No, then learn one of those after which visit the official link I posted above.

Alternatively, buy a Udemy course which will ease your journey by a lot

Good luck!

Lol, what language can you read then?

Well first of all I have to say that the main solution is suppose to run in O(N) time but because of the extra input I have to deal with that is the while(n--) it makes it O(N²)

Now for the inner loop it's simple let's say you have the number 1234 if you find the modular of that number using 10 that is 1234 mod 10 you would get 4. After that you divide 1234 by 10 again then you get 123 and then you find the mod, this process goes on in a loop till that inner condition in the loop is met while(n >=1).

I get this part.

But does your solution solve the scenario where the first digit to be inversed is '0'?

e.g 09787 becomes 78790
