Hi good morning my fellow nairalanders, actually my friend got 184 in jamb to study nursing in uniport, I told her the possibility is low though, let her change to biochemistry since she’s good in chemistry, but the problem is how sure will she get admission with her jamb score to study biochemistry in uniport, she’s also reasoning doing change of course/institution to Enugu state university to study biochemistry or nursing, what do you guys think we both are confused here, and she don’t want to write jamb next year
Writing another UTME isn't the worst thing in the world. She can't not want to write another jamb and yet scores that low and still want nursing, shey she wants to perform magic ni?

Best advice I can give, she should forget post utme and start reading from now, with eyes set on 270-280. Admissions are harder now, people pull 330 like it's a joke. She better buckle up or settle for whatever she's given

Uniport gives more priority to POST UTME.

But trust me, the Post UTME is not so easy. She needs extra study, else she could even score 100 even with intense study.

The sweetest part of Uniport's Post UTME is that you see your score once you submit.

She could actually get Biochem with that score if her POST UTME is impressive. Even if she doesn't get the Biochemistry, she could apply for supplementary.

Meanwhile, FUTO is not a bad idea after all. She should calm down about FREEDOM---e dey choke.

Well, I think she is still young. Let her change to Biochemistry and use the FREEDOM PRESSURE to study painstakingly for the POST UTME, she will get it.

As per sorting the admission. I know someone, but it's not advisable. Let her thrive for excellence she will get in effortlessly.

My opinion though.
This is misleading. Unless you're a student of uniport, you shouldn't go dishing out wrong info like this one.

Uniport uses average of both scores.

Kai, It's amazing how time flies. Visiting this thread again and seeing a lot of admission discourse got me feeling nostalgic. Spurred me to visit old posts I made when I was still searching.

Already in my Penultimate year and God is still faithful.

To everyone trying to get in, keep fighting! Don't ever give up!!!

May the odds be in your favour.
Life just unfair. You were admitted 1 year after I was and we're in the same level.

We're almost done sha. I can't wait

7.5% of your service fee (Upwork commission).
So this is 7.5% on top the 10% flat rate?

I checked google and saw that the price range of the firetrucks used in airports is between $750k-$1.2million. Shipping them to Nigeria comes at a price too. Not excusing the minister for corruption but the price of those trucks is not too ludicrous.
You know 1.2B per truck is approximately $2.7M right?(as they would be bought at CBN's 440/$ rate)

Are you saying an extra $1.5M per truck on logistics or whatever isn't "ludricous"?

Folks, what's the cheapest option to get money off Payoneer? I'm considering adding my Geegpay bank details and converting to Naira via geegpay but I wonder if there are other options to maximize value.
Geegpay works, takes less than a day and cost about 2%

then 0.9% geegpay charge

Nobody here can assure you of anything because GPT-4 is a beast. Fireship's video on it would help put things into perspective

As with everything, you should flow with the tide and not against it. Continue what you're doing but keep your eyes on information and advancements and don't be scared to abandon all the work you've in a heartbeat if you find a path more fulfilling. It might be painful but it's better than being obsolete.

I'd say hit the market now with whatever skill you have and make as much money as you can

What other platforms can I use to withdraw my Upwork earnings aside Geegpay and Wise please?

Geegpay has not verified my account for the past 2 weeks and I currently do not the ID required to verify Wise. Someone also told me to stay away from Payoneer(I don't know why).

I have a few hundred bucks from my first gig that I need to withdraw fast.

Grey or Payday via WIRE transfer(not ACH)... it's typically more expensive, about $50 extra(on top whatever the normal charge is, 1% for Grey and I think 4% for payday)

Dunno what your person has against payoneer but if you have a Dom account, upwork => payoneer => Dom works fine... Charge is 2% or a minimum of $10 plus upworks $2

If someone credits your account using WordRemit, you are supposed to be credited with your local currency. That is, the naira equivalent of $550. Why are you receiving an email? You are supposed to get credit alert from your bank.
Not since 2020. You won't receive any equivalent, banks pay you USD notes over the counter or deposit into your Dom account

I used to do this too. However, I switched to Wise instead.
Upwork to Wise, Wise to Paxful works too (I use this when I need money fast). Wise to GeegPay (takes about 4-8 hours during the weekdays)
Wise charges you 0.39 USD to transfer to another US account via ACH from your balance. GeegPay takes O.9% with a minimum of $1.5.

This is also another good one

Una for dey drop updates like this more often

This is a terrible accusation and the OP is playing with an expulsion if he is found out and cannot back these claims with proof

It's a dent on the university's name and reputation.

As a Uniport student in the sciences, I took CHM 131.2 as everybody else did(although far back as 2018) and

1. Never did anything of such happen
2. The course is hard, and I say this as someone who read the course work cover to cover more then 3 times and some materials and past questions. It was the hardest course of year 1
It was funny when the OP said it was an easy course.
3. Student who read and attend classes struggle with it, let alone the very unserious ones who don't even know the names of their lecturers
4. I had an A, and so did 100+ of my coursemates

The OP better have some substantial evidence or beg the mods to take this down. Make him no go carry him hand find trouble

While a lot of people are talking down the OP, I think he is making some salient points. The need to standardize and professionalize the field. Back in the dark ages “surgeons” were roadside apprentices to other “surgeons” who had also learnt surgery “on the streets”. After plenty failed “butchering”, surgery had to be professionalized.

Think about it, would you have a self-trained doc diagnose and treat you? Would you allow a self-trained engineer build your house?

Edit:
On the flip side though, some of the greatest frauds have been performed by the best trained professionals. Enron quickly comes to mind
Actually he makes no point and I didn't want to have to feed the troll by adding a comment to his thread

Professional fields are standardized for a reason, so people have a reference point, an assurance of quality of some sort not because any of those fields can't be learnt outside the boundaries of a standardized institution. Even medicine can be learnt by just picking up and reading the books and then trail and error with patients but that is costly, inefficient and dangerous.
Same with every field out there, it can be learnt and everyone can be a self-taught anything they want.

Even CS has standards, the degree, oracle cert, AWS, GCP certs, Salesforce admin cert etc. Some jobs require them and some don't.
The field is standardized and the reason self-taught get jobs is because the companies don't care for the certs but the knowledge.

It becomes annoying when someone who is neither an employer of labor or a certified professional in the field creates such a thread. Like? How exactly does someone so insignificant in the CS gets to decide who the gates are closed to

Final words: AI will take all our jobs anyway, so what's the point. grin

Riverpod doesn’t depend on context but stays at the very top of the widget tree, wrapping even MyApp() in a ProviderScope widget.

Since it owns the whole building instead of being a co-tenant, it logically seems not to be fighting against the tree.

RiverPod 2.0 is out and even better.

I chose RiverPod because it was developed by the guys who actually built Provider and its seen as a ‘correction’ of the ‘lapses’ that they noticed.

I heard a lot of Flutter devs just stick to ChangeNotifier() and deploy jejely. I dont like leaks and vulnerabilities which is why I believe variables should not just be everywhere not needed.

I consider myself a greenhorn in Flutter.

My choice of RiverPod might not be the best and i would gladly appreciate if the professors and deans of Flutter here can advise on the best package in this regards.
I'm yet to try Riverpod because when I wanted to, the docs was bad and the code never worked, pre-1.0. I hear its better now but my current codebases use other state management solutions.

I prefer Bloc for its maturity. Its been tested trusted and works well. Plus VGV maintains it so I have every confidence in it.

Although Remi is a beast so eventually I think Riverpod will grow to be the mainstay state management like Provider has become if people can get comfortable using custom stateless widgets instead of the normal one

I wonder if Riverpod solved the issue of side effects like Bloc does with BlocListener. When you want to make a UI call, say show a toast when a particular state change occurs. In provider, I had to setup streams. Any idea if riverpod has a solution for that?
