Me and 2 other tenants went to his room to confront him. He gave me 2k and said he doesn't have money that he would give me the remaining 3k by Friday. They told me to take the 2k first and wait till Friday.

My anger is that why did he lie to me that he would give me back the money when he knows he didn't have it. He is married with 2 small children yet he goes to ashewo joint to drink and chase women. I would wait till Friday na it's just next tomorrow.

I was on my own, then I got a call from my friend that he's at an event center. I should come so we go flex. I reminded him that I don't drink alcohol. I can only take bottle water or malt drink. He said I should come that he's feeling bored.

Before I left, I took 1k with me in case something goes out of the ordinary, I will pay for my drink and off I go. But I like paying for what I order.

Immediately I reached the place, I saw him with three more guys. They have started drink and on their second bottles. I grabbed a chair, but as I was about to have a seat, he told me to bring 2k so he can add his and pay for drinks.

I immediately left without uttering a world.

Well, the ultimate plot is, increase the MPR to decrease the inflation rate, if this works, then reduce the MPR.

It seems like nonsense to me!

The trick is, they have their money in dollar, which they don't wish to sell, knowing fully well that dollar always appreciate against naira. So, instead of converting their dollar to naira, they will rather borrow naira and use dollar as a collateral, which is safe for them.

If I borrow at 22% to manufacture, I have to sell at a higher margin to break even compared to the China guy borrowing at 3-4%

An increase in interest rate also affects the borrower's repayment plan to the banks.

My take is this :

Nigerians should Wait till next CBN 's monetary policy committee(MPC) meeting on May 20, 2024

If they announce another increase in basis points or interest rate from that 22% , expect more manufacturers and companies to shut down and this could lead to increase in prices of goods regardless of whatever the dollar is selling for.

You didn't talk about the good side of it...I have a thread here on Nairaland where I talked about pros and cons of increasing MPR. Perhaps, MPR has been increased to 24.75 in the latest MPC held last month.
