It depends on your location, I paid N9k last month and addressed to ikeja. Yes, you have the option of going to pick your documents without paying for courier.

Do not give him any shishi! Chai! People are wicked sha. Don’t give him your passport either, if he insists it has to be submitted, take it to VFS office YOURSELF and ask for other documents that you’ll need for the submission.

Do not fret, it is probably being processed in Nairobi, Kenya. They will return it with your mum’s stamped visa

Nope, you cannot use Naira Debit cards to pay for usd transactions. Incase you can’t apply for a usd card due to the holidays, you can Get someone that has a USD debit card, fund the account and make the payment

Tragically we lost a close friend to the cold hands of death who passed away in a ghastly motor accident.

He was in his late thirties to early forties,unmarried, no child, and a Christian from the North west.

In solidarity, we his friends, proposed to hold a formal wake keep for him at his Abuja residence and promptly began the preparation process. This included securing the services of a DJ and arranging refreshments for the gathering.

Certain members of his family objected to the idea of the wake keep, contending that it was inappropriate for us to engage in partying and funfair following the untimely passing of their loved one. They insisted we limit the gathering to just a public address system and a choir to sing, nothing more.

Some of our friends are threatening to hands-off and withdraw their involvement from everything about the funeral including not attending the burial and allow the family members do whatever that pleases them.
Others are of the opinion that we should ignore the family members and go ahead with our plans since we are going to be paying respect to our late friend and not members of his family.

What do you guys think?

Arrange DJ and refreshment for your late friend’s funeral? He was less than 40yrs old, no wife, no kid! Hmmmmmmmmmm! May this kind of tragedy not happen to any of us 🙏

1. pay income tax
2. family tie certificate (if applicable)
Note: I didn't noticed till I got home

Are you married? If yes you may have to go back to the embassy with the form and your marriage certificate

And also supply them with your tax clearance.

It is a MUST If the employer/organization is sponsoring the applicant’s trip.

You mean you want to pay the lawyer N2m or you have N2m as your POF? Candidly, I am not sure it will work either way. You must have a healthy account as your POF even if someone is sponsoring your trip.

Pls I will like to share my past immigration story before embarking on the next Canada visa application. I want to make my past situation as open as possible so that you can guide me properly.

In 2015 I got admission to study in Canada, but my visa application was refused after passport request due to travel history and insufficient fund.
I never knew anything about traveling then. Although my salary was poor then, I sent all payslip and references to the agent that did the application then.
The agent got me a sponsor with 17m in his account and we're not even related but I was still refused visa after passport request,

In 2016, someone introduced me to another agent who said he can get someone to invite me to U.S for visiting visa.
He embarked on the whole process and I later notice along the line that he was merging me with a lady to travel together as husband and wife with the same invite. It was so funny. He arranged job and huge bank statement In my salary account. I was so upset but it was too late for me. He did everything on my behalf and mine was just to go for interview.but that was my situation. I and the girl was refused the visa in 2016.
All this happened when I was single.

In 2016, I joined nairaland and started reading and learning from every post here. I have wasted time and resources with my past agents. Probably Vo weren't convince enough.

Years later I got married with kids. I got new job and started building my job profile and experience.

Dearest Nairalanders, I will really need your guide and counsel as embark on the process.With the wealth of knowledge in this house, I can't afford to miss it again.

I have gotten an employer in Canada who wish to hire me and go through the LMIA process. I am thinking of entering Canada via visitors visa then apply for work permit. Though that's my secrete intention.all my job references in my current place of work is available and legit.
I hope it's a good idea?

Here are my worries and questions,
1. My mum and elder brother is a permanent resident and citizen respectively.
I have an invitation to attend my aged Mum's birthday in Canada this year.
He agreed to be the sponsor and will cater for travel ticket and accommodation within the 8 days length of stay on the application.
✓I have 2m in one of my bank and I have another salary account that I run with other business as well.. I planned to show the 2 bank account. (Total proof of fund is 2.1m)
I hope it's enough as proof of fund.

2. Since 2015, I don't have any travel history. Hope this won't affect my next application?
3. Can I include my Canada and U.S visa refusal in the application?
4. How can I bring in my family, after entering Canada??
5. What are the chances of success in this process?

Good Evening D.O, I am not an expert but can answer a few of your questions 😄😄😄

1. 2.1M as your total POF is way too small! How much is flight ticket to canada? They expect you to be able to fund your trip even if you have a capable sponsor and still have substantial savings in your account after the trip.
2.travel history is only an added advantage to your application, the success of your application will not be judged by your travel history.
3 Please, Biko, Da Allah! Include ALL previous refusals in your new application o. USA and Canada share travellers database.
4. Enter canada first before thinking of your family 😄
5. Your chances are based on your ability to convince the VO that you worth the visa, your documents must be well prepared. And lastly, you need some luck.

Hotel reservation is one of the requirements, you can make a reservation without paying though. Some properties require payment on arrival.

Morning house. My visa application was not approved. I applied in August,did biometrics in September,21st to be precise. But that's just by the way. Special thanks to supporting comments I have gotten here. My biggest pain is not applying myself,I knew nothing about Canada as at the time I was ready, reason I used an agent. He did his best,but not having direct access to my portal is what I don't like.

However,I want to reapply,but considering other options available. I want to ask,if I reapply, will it take the same number of days as the first or a decision will be taken in about a month or two?

So sad to hear about your refusal, it is not the end of the world. You can reapply but before you do, kindly ensure you have all the docs submitted by the agent so you won’t contradict yourself in the new application.
Secondly, your proposed new application will go thru the Norman processing days o, even if not more.

You shouldn’t have paid for ticket when you’re yet to get a visa approval. SA take btw two to three months to these days to process visa. I was very fortunate to get an approval on the 15th January 2024 while I applied on the 4th of Dec 2023. That is far beyond one month.

I was refuse Holland visa at the france embassy. Though, I have traveled to Holland before in 2009 but now they gave reason that I will, over stay my visit (brother) as the only reason for refusal. Pls, do you advice I reapply or appeal.

1. Did you overstay your first visit?
2. You can reapply but with a very strong home tie, you should also back up your application with an assurance letter to convince the VO that you’ll return. If the VO finds it convincing enough, then you’re good to go.

In the past months, I decided to look over, taking a stance, "There's a price for every Struggle to Humanity justice". Perhaps Moremi, this is the price you have to pay for lending your voice in speaking against repression.

I recall my younger days, watching new dawn with Funmi Iyanda on NTA, Dad was a guest on her show, he spoke passionately about his work at TheNews, how he and his team are fully committed to everly use their pen in speaking against oppression as well as ensuring Nigerians become more conscious of their rights. How much I smiled brightly and giggled loudly "Go Daddy!" Mum, throwing a glance at me" Baba e, L'o jo, sha r'ora".
Holding back tears, remembering memories of my childhood growing up and having to look up to Dad for lots, needing answers to the Government homework we were given in secondary school, and Dad readily glad to explain many systems of government to me on the phone, taking a step further to speak on the theories of Karl Marx, Montesquieu, Adolf Hitler and more. I remember reading of him regularly on the pages of newspaper,, cramming excerpts of his interview so his interview so I could share with him on the phone, in a bid to making him know I was following his activities religiously. Undoubtedly, Dad became our hero, with my sister and I looking forward to his visits.
Oh, what responses to give Oyinkansola as she throws inquisitive questions my way, Granddaddy and Mum have a sour relationship. We no longer can talk or see. Can she ever understand there comes a time when a Family becomes totally estranged?

I only said the obvious, having campaigned passionately and putting in my vote and that of convinced friends to commit to a better future for Nigerian Citizens. It's only normal, to speak out having voted someone you believe in to call his attention fast to the implied suffering and hold the government's legitimacy responsible. My education will be totally flawed if I subject my actions and voice for personal interest. So far, it's applaudable to see the government take the country out of recession as well as its showed stance to the unity and peace of our dearcountry.
Today, I publicly apologize to my Dad.
I am deeply sorry if I have hurt your feelings, your Daughters miss and Need you in their Lives as their father, to love, Protect and guide them.
Hope you forgive me and understand intuitively that Moremi Ojudu has a sense of purpose to Fulfill to the Human race.

Late DJ Olu to be laid to rest on Thursday 12th October.

The Abiodun family confirms the tragic and regrettable demise of our beloved son, Olugbemiga.
We know there are many questions as to how or why such tragedy would happen to such great individual but still, God is in control.
The past few days have been most trying for the family. We are saddened by his demise but we are comforted by the well wishes and kind thoughts of friends around the world.
Olugbemiga has touched so many people on so many different levels during his short life but few had the pleasure of truly knowing him.
He was a down to earth, generous, kind-hearted, idealist and selfless individual who was extremely inspirational to many.
The family hereby, pleads with the public to disregard insinuations being peddled by certain sections of the media about the actual cause of our son's death.
An official result of the autopsy conducted will be made available as soon as it is ready. Until then, we urge everyone to kindly respect our family’s need to grieve and come to terms with our loss privately.
We remain humble as parents and a family, among several around the world who are bereaved via the tragic loss of a child.
It is never easy to come to terms with the heart-wrenching and enduring agony that accompanies the death of a loved son.
But our family will forever treasure memories of the extremely joyous days spent with Olugbemiga, prior to his demise. Those precious memories will stay with us forever. We are privileged to have some of his amazing, magic moments captured in our hearts.
To everyone who knew him, Olugbemiga was a son and man of immeasurable talent and promise. To those who knew him more personally, he was a consummate artiste and citizen of humanity. We knew him as a devoted son, a loyal and very generous brother and friend.
We treasure the outpouring of grief, empathy and love from unbelievably wonderful network of close friends in Nigeria and from around the world.
Families rarely experience such stirring warmth, compassion and support as have we, from every corner of the planet.
This has profoundly touched our hearts and lives. We are eternally grateful.
At this moment however, we respectfully request the worldwide media to allow us time to grieve privately, without the intrusions associated with press and photography.
