https://www.dopereporters.com/after-security-meeting-with-buhari-national-security-adviser-babagana-monguno-briefs-media/ After Security Meeting With Buhari National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno Briefs Media NSA transcript: I presented two memos. The first had to do with drug trafficking as well as drug addiction in Nigeria. And the widespread use of these substances and the dangerous impact on our social, economic situation. Thereafter, I briefed on the security situation in the northwest and the north central, in terms of looking at the issue of kidnapping, banditry and brandied killing of innocent people. After I presented these two memes, the chief of Defence staff, army, chief, inspector general of Poilice, heads of the various intelligence agencies also gave synopsis each of the current security situation and what their various organizations and agencies are doing about these situations. But on the issues of drug trafficking and abuse of drugs, basically, what I told council was that this has taken on a worrisome dimension. Nigeria’s perception on the drug trafficking index has changed from the status from a transist hub to a production center. Between 2011 and 2019, approximately 17 manufacturing laboratories of metal and metulin substances were located by the various security agencies and destroyed. That is a large number. At the same we have had increasing activities of illegal cultivators of Canabis in Nigeria. These people basically use extremely large space of arable land to cultivate this illegal substance, employing militia men to protect their farms and also their storage facilities. When you look at drugs, our main concern as security operatives, is the ultimate destruction to the social fabric and economy of the nation. There is hardly any violence crime today in Nigeria that is not propelled by the use of these hard substances. And these hard substances have been coming in from all books and crannies. What is worrisome is that the report we have received the chairman NDLEA, show that the numbers keeps increasing, despite the closure of borders we are still having to contain with the influx of these drugs. The problem here is that the reckless use of these substances are directly linked to the insecurity we are confronted with. Unless there is a collective, concerted effort to deal with this problem, it’s will only result in this country going down the bottomless pit of self destruction. We don’t want that to happen and one of the ways of dealing with this issue is by using a whole of society approach in conjunction with the whole or government approach to achieve the whole of the nation approach. The substances that are in use, again the problem is that dealing with such an issue as the proliferation of drugs is not as easy as it looks even for the most developed country, because it is not a one sided affair. You have a minimum of three parties operating at the same time, the drug peddler (the supper fly), the consumer (the junkie) and that person in the center who has been entrusted with denying these drugs access into the country. It is important to note that if there is a compromise then things become tedious and problematic. So what we did was to invite the chairman of NDLEA based on his report that all security agencies are studying, the president has resolved that we must wrestle this problem. This problem is directly linked. If you look at the criminality, the colouration of each crime, especially kidnapping, banditry and terrorism, it is not the killing of the people but the way people are killed, goes to show one thing. It is extremely abnormal, inhuman and these acts can only be perpetrated by people who are out of their mind. One thing we in the security and intelligence arm have been able to trace, is that there are certain drugs of choice that have saturated the entire landscape of the country. These drugs basically are condone, opiums, cocaine, tramadol and pertamines and of course cannabis sativa. The popular drug of choice is tramadol, it is easily acquired. Tramadol has been the drug of choice for terrorists, bandits and kidnappers. And if we don’t approach we are going to be immersed great problem by virtue of the fact that he who resides in the town, urban or rural area must be able to collaborate with agents of government in revealing these abnormalities. I know it has not been easy, there has been a gradual loss of confidence over the years and the president is determined to restore confidence. So, for the issue of drugs, it is basically related to every form of violence crime in which these criminals just at the touch of a button give bent to homicidal instincts and go on a murderous rampage killing people. The office of the national security adviser in conjunction with other security agencies will work on a blueprint in a short, medium and a long term to address this matter. The second issue of course is also tied intrinsically to that situation of banditry in the northwest and north central zones, where you have a lot of illegal aliens working just like what you see in the mining sector, illegal miners working with bandits and kidnappers. Of course there are also other issues of fully equipping the security agencies. Finally, Mr. President has also directed we must rejig our strategy both in terms of operations and intelligence to further prevent catastrophes. We must bear in mind that we owe a duty to the people that elected this government and at the end of the day, without securing the nation all other things such as revamping the economy and fighting corruption cannot be addressed. Q and A President's marching orders to service chiefs. Basically these are operational matters that are best dealt with by the Minister of Defense. I know that there's something that he's working on, which has led to this meeting being delayed slightly, this meeting was actually supposed to take place before the Sallah holiday, but I think one or two things have come up that I don't think I can explain, but I want you to be comfortable that something is being done, following that marching order. Kaduna is again a political matter and I think the governor of Kaduna State has been talking with Mr President and I'm not privy to the final details. Governor Babagana Umar Zulum and the military Just like you have seen things on the social media here, again I don't know the final details of what happened, but I know that the governor will meet with Mr President to discuss whatever led to the incident and the debacle. What I know, however, is that in another 30 minutes from now, we are going to have a virtual meeting with the Governors' Forum. My name sake has already told me that he's coming for the meeting, it's only after that meeting that I can really be able to understand the nitty gritty of what happened, but like you said, it's unfortunate and I believe we'll get over this issue. President's anger about declining security situation the last meeting What he said today was virtually a reaffirmation of what he said the first time. Yes Mr President said you are doing your best, as far as I'm concerned, but there's still a lot more to be done. I'm more concerned about the promise we made to the larger Nigerian society and I am ordering an immediate re-engineering of the entire security apparatus. This is something that I believe will be done in a very short time, but I just want us to keep hope alive. I know how everybody feels, I know how Nigerians feel, definitely the President is not oblivious of the fact that securing the nation is a primary responsibility of government and I believe in his sincerity, but again, since he's not an octopus, since he's not a spirit, if he delegates to people, then the onus is on them to actually fulfil the legitimate expectations of the larger Nigerian society.

https://www.dopereporters.com/deposed-anambra-monarch-reacts-blasts-government-video/ Deposed Anambra Monarch Reacts, Blasts Government (video) BAMIDELE AJAYI REPORTS The suspended Anambra State monarch, Igwe Peter Uyanwa, of Ukwulu in Dunukofia Local Government Area, has faulted his suspension by the State government . It may be recalled that the Igwe Uyanwa was suspended for one year by the state government on Monday, over issues of projects by some people from Ukwulu and elsewhere. The state government said his certificate of recognition as Igwe had been withdrawn with immediate effect, adding that he would no longer function as chairman of the Traditional Rulers Council in Anambra Central Zone. The igwe said that he was not made the traditional ruler of his community by the state government neither did he campaign for it but his community counted him worthy because of his contributions. He also said that the certificate of recognition issued by government was not as important as the process of selection done by the people and If the community does not select one as the traditional ruler, the government will not give him a certificate of recognition. So if the government feels it wants to take back its certificate, it can do so, while the people retain their monarch. The chieftains and indegenes frowned at the decision made by the state government saying it wasn't a call for the state government to make and they are fully in support of whom they made their traditional ruler. https://www.dopereporters.com/why-we-withdrew-registration-certificates-of-ohanaeze-cac/ Why We Withdrew Registration Certificates Of Ohanaeze– CAC The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has explained its reasons for withdrawing the registration certificate of Ohanaeze Ndigbo General Assembly, the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) and other socio-cultural groups in Nigeria. The Registrar General of CAC, Mr Garba Abubakar, who announced this in Abuja said the measure was part of the reforms the Commission to subject such applications to thorough scrutiny following security threats that may arise from such registrations. He said: “Yes, we have withdrawn the certificate of Ohanaeze Ndigbo General Assembly because the certificate should not have been issued in the first instance. “We have an established protocol that all organisations; ethnic, religious with political implication should be referred for security clearance before such organisations are registered. In 2017, a similar organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide applied to be registered and security agencies rejected it. “It would have been a double standard to allow another organisation to be registered. Up till now, Arewa Consultative Forum is not registered because they were not given security clearance, we have South-South Youth Forum, NorthEast Youth Forum and so many organisations that have not been allowed to register. “What we have done after withdrawing the certificate (of Ohanaeze Ndigbo General Assembly), we now referred the application for security clearance, if at the end of the day we are advised that this object is consistent with what the law says, and the trustees are fit and proper, then we will go ahead, but till then, we have withdrawn the certificate and they have threatened to go to court, we are lawyers, we will meet them in court.” He also lamented at the proliferation of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) in Nigeria including foreign ones, noting that such new organisations would have to secure the consent of the Registrar General of the Commission before allowing registeration. “The security agencies have been raising concerns, and you will agree with me that some organisations are purely political. We don’t register political association, some in their activities constitute a threat to national security, so we took the decision that every application will be properly scrutinised to the level of Registrar General, so the applicant must submit an application of consent by providing the names of trustees, the objects of the association. The application will be scrutinised and recommendation will be made to Registrar General and it is only the approval of the Registrar General that the name will be approved,” he said. On the recent protest by customers in regard to the new policy on mailing and courier delivery services in the process of company registering, Abubakar said the mailing system, which began in Abuja on Friday, has put to an end the regular visit of customers to the Commission’s office. The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has said that there is no going back on its decision to ensure that pre-incorporation certificates are delivered to customers through designated courier companies. The Commission said the policy which came into force on Friday, put to an end the situation where customers visit its Lagos and Abuja offices for the collection of the certificates. He noted that the move would guard against the spread of coronavirus, reduce the burden on overstretched CAC staff occasioned by the COVID-19 guideline which stipulates that only level 14 officers and above should resume work. “We have a total workforce of 1,310 staff, only 221 of such staff fall into the category of officers from level 14 and above. Every Monday to Friday we attend to nothing less than 500 customers. “But if you are dealing with mailing company, every certificate we can produce by 2:00 pm, we hand it over to the courier company the same day and the customer can pick it, this system was introduced on Friday and I can assure you between the time it was introduced till now over 400 certificates have been dispatched by the courier companies. “In the past, some customers will wait for one month without getting the certificate, to the extent some were even accusing our staff of corruption, that our staff were collecting money. The mailing system won’t stop at certificate dispatch, it will extend to all other processes,” he stated. The RG said the elimination of manual searches by customers as one of another reform measures put in place in the commission. “In the past we allowed customers to handle our documents. Customers can apply for documents and we will bring out the file, give it to him, he searched, extract the information he needs and return the file. That is compromising the integrity of the information. In so many occasions, we have apprehended lawyers that have stolen particulars for companies that are under investigations or that have disputes among the shareholders. “Only two weeks ago, a lawyer was apprehended for forging signatures. His specialisation is when documents are queried for irregular signatures, he signed again for these customers,” he explained. https://www.dopereporters.com/why-we-withdrew-registration-certificates-of-ohanaeze-cac/
