It's another day of defensive football....

Love the front line though and Micki turns up in Europe so no shaking. Expecting Martial to open the score sheet

Yeah, quite remarkable that we actually won those games while playing poorly. But you'll also agree that if we played like that against Chelsea or Tottenham, home or abroad, we'll get beat.

Let's see some improvements in the game today and the bullish trend will return. By improvement, I mean better ball retention (if they want to do so), playing with intent and going for the jugular when the need arises.
we might get beat, don't forget played something similar against Liverpool and man city away and we didn't lose

I will give a better assessment of the team after our games against Liverpool and Tottenham, let's just move on

Leyqute:
I'm not blowing anything out of proportion. Southampton was the worst, yes, but we didn't start playing poorly against Southampton. We also didn't do well at home to Everton and away to Stoke, despite the many goals we've scored.

I don't know about you but I watch all of Manchester United's games and one thing I've notice is the dwindling level of performance. At this moment last season we played very well with a determined spirit but were bad in front of goal. Is it too much to ask for that same spirit now that we have a much improved attack?
we are not disputing that fact, so wetin we go do now wey our performance dey dwindle and we dey win unlike last season? reason why you think we played poorly in our previous matches is because our opponents came out to attack, it wasn't just the usual one way football, if you check the statistics for those games you will see it favors us more

it is not mourihno's fault that some of his players are serving us sh.it every match day, the only time I faulted mourihno's tactics was when he brought on smalling instead of Martial, but who can blame him, his players were not coming out.

yes, a good performance with win is exciting to watch and moan over but right now, the former isn't the case with us, what should we do? kill ourselves? the only reason why I haven't gone over the moon with our bad displays is because we are winning and that is all that matters right now, winning.. didn't we also complain last season when we were drawing a lot of games? even when we put on a show, we are just five games into the season mate, it's best we move on from the Southampton game because that is not the Manchester United we know under mourihno, confidently saying that

You've started again.

What if you park the bus and get beat? You don't think that's possible? You were probably happy when we were toothless and beaten by Madrid in the Supercup.

If you believe parking the bus against average teams is the way to go, good for you. It's your opinion and you're entitled to it. But don't overly criticise those that believe otherwise, they have their opinions too.

And this has nothing to do about the poor performances I've been yapping on about. Even if you park bus, use sense. Don't lose possession easily, threaten the opponent when you get the ball, etc.

Madrid defended for most part of their game against Dortmund but when it was time to attack they hit the Germans under the belt. A team who have surrendered the game and is playing poorly will never do that.

Maybe those folks will soon rudely tell me to go support Madrid now since I've used them to buttress one of my points.
you make it seem like we have been losing possession of the ball since the beginning of the season, for heaven's sake that Southampton game is the worst we have played this season, stop making it seem like we aren't top of the table with 17 goals in 5 matches, we didn't score 16 out of the 17 by losing possession

Saturday's performance was drab, we all know that. but why blow it out of proportion? bar Southampton, which other average team did we park the bus against? cause I don't seem to understand this "park the bus against average teams" you guys keep talking about

Make no mistake, the performance was poor. But it's not enough to justify the vitriol and venom being poured in here.

Southampton have always troubled us, even when we were at the peak of our powers. A fact that we fans tend to (conveniently) forget. Even when we win, we always seem to be fortunate to beat them; case in point- the EFL cup at Wembley in February.

Till tomorrow, I will be grateful to Jose for adapting when things weren't going smoothly for us to get us three points. That's how simple it has become for me.

We were dire for parts of last season but not entirely. The only problem we had was our profligacy in front of goal. But people forget again, just to suit their argument.

It' s ridiculous to come to the conclusion highlighted in the emboldened because there simply isn't enough proof for it. At the end of the day, football is a results oriented game. No one will remember how well you played 20 years from now, they will only be more likely to remember the scoreline, if they ever do.
and number of Trophies won, we are the current Europa league holders, who cares how we played to get it? it didn't matter then, doesn't matter now and it sure wouldn't matter ten years from now

I was so pissed at the way we played on Saturday that when phcn interrupted power supply I was happy but I have moved on so as the team, if they serve us sh.it again next week and we win I will complain and move on, as long as they don't serve us sh.it and lose or draw, that is when my unending provocation will start but I can't come and go and kill myself when we are doing what is vital and important, that is getting 3 points, points push you up the table not glittering performances

Let's move on, that's all

Some of the reaction has been over the top in my honest view.

We've won 5 out of the first 6 games while being undefeated thus far. I'm looking back and checking when last we had this good a start, you'd have to go to the start of 2011/12 to get an answer, 6 years ago.

I'm very puzzled.
I don't think they know that it's impossible to play free flowing football from week 1 to week 38, especially in the premier league, you don't expect a team to go high flying on the pitch every game, this is where character and resilience comes in, for some, because we were that bad on Saturday, we will play badly forever and bad is what we have been playing

there are sometimes you just have to go ugly to get the desired results, I don't know if we were supposed to pick the ball with our hands and tell them to stop attacking us and let us attack them because we are Manchester United

they are already seeing united going the way of crystal palace grin grin grin
I want to believe He meant something else when he said that, that came out of nowhere and it is unbelievable, only one game and we are being put in the same sentence with Crystal palace, a team that hasn't scored a single goal in their opening 6 games

he meant something else

Because of a horrible 45mins display against a mediocre team, we now defend against mediocre Teams, if I ask some of you now to show me a game we were that poor against another mediocre team now, una go zip mouth

we have played some of the best free flowing attacking football in the league since we appointed mourihno but noooo, the second half display against Southampton is what we play all the time and what we will continue playing because his name is mourihno, pathetic.. One game, one freaking game and you guys can't think straight, man city this man city that, Leicester City Vs Man City at the King power stadium last season, 3-0 at half time, watch the first half of that match and come back and say man city again if I will not slap sense into you

Saturday came, we played and we complained, move the fnck on and stop spewing shi.t about how we defend against this mediocre team and that mediocre team when there is no fact to back up that ridiculous claim, must every game be exciting ?

Ofcos many times in fact.... If I name Africa's best XI now... you may only find one or two Nigerian players.... lolll... And that depends on the formation i use sef... in another formation.... yiu will find none or just one....

Honestly... on this thread I have discussed that before but not in full terms...

A blind patriot will include more than three sef no matter what.... lol

What I cannot stand is people using their the Brains and eyes that have been washed and soaked in European club football allegiances to view the beautiful game of Football even when it comes to The Super Eagles and African Football...

I know a whole lot about European soccer... believe me... I know a lot... but you won't find me in the European section. I have never been there except in the past for match day threads... but club threads... no way.. never been. never will.

But I don't allow myself to be blinded by the European flavor...
so because I said Rashford is better iheanacho makes me unpatriotic? or means I can't see past my club allegiance? so in a bid to be patriotic I should peddle lies as facts? it is a fact that right now, Rashford is better than Iheanacho

I guess it will also be unpatriotic of me to say Pogba is better than Onazi or De gea is better than Carl ikeme

Top 10 young Talents in the world, Iheanacho's name is nowhere to be found, Rashford's name is in it but I should take your word that iheanacho is the better player over Fifa's

please don't make me laugh, talk to you later
