Guys, do you think schools like Dublin Business School offer part time (2years) study for international students?

I am considering that option because, based on the discourse i have just read here, a part time study option will afford me a little more time for side hustle while actually studying.

You won't even get a visa for part time grin

I am glad to read your response bro. Now there seems to be more positive response coming from it. Your initial write up was mere generalisation. The truth is I reside here in Dublin city and we tend to pay same amount of rent. Mine seems a bit slightly higher than yours for a shared room. Maybe I was fortunate to opt for DBS then. You guys schooling their ought to discuss with the PG program coordinator there in Griffith so that something can be done in that regards.

I feel your plight bro but I am not advising you or anyone here to break the provisions of their student visa. All I was emphasizing is that one takes due advantage of the opportunities that lies in whatever environment one finds him or herself. Talking about Canada, there are so many Nigerians there in Canada with masters who settled for taxi driving. The racist thing is everywhere. Once you are not a native of their country, its pretty difficult getting a suitable job that is in tandem with what you studied in school. The only edge I would say Canada has is it's easier to get permanent residence there. This is one area which Ireland needs to critically look at so it can harness the pool of diverse cultures it seems to enjoy presently and then over time, they can have second generation of blacks as Irish natives.

You initial post would ordinarily deter the faint hearted to pursue a career path here cause of your generalisation of Ireland whereas it has everything to do with your own school which seems not to avail you time to hustle and work simultaneously. However, I know it's hard getting jobs that pay cash but look out for odd jobs which Irish people won't do for any amount in the world. In it lies the answer to that which you seek. There are lots of opportunities here and that's the gospel truth. Even the cars you were talking about shipping from Canada, it's cheaper shipping a car from Ireland to Nigeria than from the former. You can do your research on that too. Car shipping constitutes the bulk of trade between Ireland and Nigeria. Mostly salvaged cars if you know what I mean. Also, we have edge in currency value over them in Canada. The list is endless. Both countries are good and please don't get me wrong. At least vacation is around the corner and so you can hustle properly. Even in DBS, chances are we won't hustle quite well this holiday period. The reason is exam starts this January. So every school has it's own odds but regardless of such, we have to keep up the hustle. Stay strong and positive. God bless your hustle here and above all, God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

You really know Ireland well grin.

To be truthful, ireland is totally bleeped... i am in ireland everyday and the cost of living here is something else. To get GNIB appointment na GOLD, took me 3 months to get mine and still bills must be paid,Rent like 800 euros and above if you want to stay by yourself, don't get me wrong you can get for 500-700euros but u go tire to find. How much do u earn 9.55 euros an hour and only required to work for 20 hours a week with tax to pay around 2-5%. Transport a week in dublin about 20 euros, feeding never join. There are menial jobs eg, warehousing and picking fruits about 10euros per hour, if you go there u go see men with red passport still dey do warehouse jobs & the next day body go wan break, other jobs kitchen porter, cleaner, waiter etc. racism na another level especially in my house, things i don't do they go report to landlady. December dey come now for someone to work 40hrs, no time sef to go hustle join because exams is in January, u choose to do well in exams or work 40hours. I feel if u earn above 180k in Nigeria as a bachelor or spinster, no need to leave that job, i made a mistake ever coming here, na canada sure pass but since i am here, i will make good use of it.

Don't ask me about the 2 years, 3 people who finished from griffith college 1 Msc Accounting and finance, 2 International Business, don return back to Nigeria as no job show after the 2 years.

No, Ireland is not f*cked. Infarct Ireland is getting better. I have two Nairalanders here one came from student exchange, the other with direct study from Lagos. The one with exchange student used to visit here before he was even shocked that things has changed O. You're even lucky you didn't come like around 2008/09 during the recession, that's when you will appreciate current life in Ireland.

Don't worry you will find things easy at some point. Create your own success story. Remember the days you prayed for the things you have now? Better days are coming and all your hustle will be worth it. Everything will happen for you all of a sudden and you’ll be thankful you didn’t give up. Encourage anyone that love to come and study and achieve that goal if they can't find alternative. Blessings are coming. Believe that. It is well with you.

For the guy complaining bitterly about life in Ireland , you can ask those living in central london.

I lived outside london for 5 years @ Hatfield to be precise, accommodation is 4 -5 bed house, my room costs £400 per month excluding bills. As at 2015, my friend in westminster london lived in a 4 bed shared house, her rent for 1 room was £750 excluding bills.

I had 18 -20 year old nigerian party freaks as flatmates, the ones who take your stew and finish the meat @ midnight when everyone was at work, library or sleeping, those who mess up toilet and you have to clean up after them.

If you have lived in Nigerian hostels, you probably would have encountered such.

You don't get anything on a platter in life , nothing is handed to you.
Brace yourself, grow up , sit yourself down and decide what you want to take away from Griffith / Ireland or the overall abroad pursuit.

As crazy as the UK is with no automatic graduate visa , some people are still getting their work permit legally without marrying EU/British Nationals.

Am not picking at you , you're entitled to your opinion but what you said today seems more of a rant than advise.

You nailed it bro. Exactly my experience in London for good 4 years. How about me that even came to Ireland with family visit visas, though I've visited before to check if I can live here. I survived here for years before getting their stamp 4. Now I won't encourage anyone to come and stay with visit visa. I can't say because I experience difficulty in a country then everybody will experience the same. Irish study visa is hot cake to many.

Life is much more better in Ireland now compare to when I just came in those years. If you believe you have no reason to leave Nigeria for whatever reason then stay there. If you think you should leave then leave, and if you come and after you feel that you can't cope then go back home or go elsewhere. If you think you can cope then stay, all you need is FOCUS & DETERMINATION, with God on your side you will conquer. Coming to Ireland is a matter of CHOICE.

It depends on what you want. There are people who liked to be called landlords (aka baba landlord) even if they are not really making money from their properties. Once you have a property, almost everybody in your family knows and they know when you collect the rent and that is when each and everyone of them will start coming with his/her problems for you to solve for them. If you say, you do not have, they will say 'shebi you just collect rent'. Before you know it, the money is finished with you wondering what you used the money for. That is when it suddenly dawn on you that the next rental is at least 11 months away. With TB, nobody knows if you have money. If they come around, na you go first cry say the country hard. Once you first cry, they will no longer be bold to tell you their problems. They will just say 'please just help me with anything'. Na so you go just give the person small thing from your TB upfront interest to help the person. grin

That's how Canada exposed me to many opportunities in Nigeria. I left nigeria in 2014 with the mentality of living big abroad as if everything is easy over there which i ended up working my ass off with pay cheque which is not even enough to live good.
Fast forward to 2016 I sat myself down and think deeply cos I got a lot of dependant which canada situation can't help or else I will end up ignoring my dependants by not not letting them to know my contacts again.
Here we go April 2016 I decided to leave Canada to Nigeria cos I have a lot of business idea, thou right from the beginning business is in my blood.
When I decided to leave i inform my family about it my brothers, sisters, mom and my friends were all scared and wonder how can I decided such a silly thing to come back to nija. Sometimes self decision is the best. I kept mute I didn't listen until I carried out my plan, booked a one way ticket to nija, landed and the hustle started. Everybody are looking at me like let's see what will end u in Nigeria.

I dont know Why we Nigerians lose hope on our country as if these western world are paradise?

I went back to my business I was doing before I left for canada which is agriculture. I put some money I managed to save on it. Upgrade myself by advertising my products online, travelling around, visiting big big farms for sales cos I'm into poultry and I also sell foreign feed additives such as feed proteins and amino-acids.
These business I have been doing before I left for canada but the mentality of travelling out for greener pasture has eat deep in me, then I didn't work too smart cos I believe abroad is the only option to success.

To cut the long story short
I'm now a owner of a company.
We sale imported feed additives in case a farmer might be interested in buying.

Till today Canada door is still opened for me.
I was there 2 times this year, planning to go again next March thou for visiting online.

All my write up is all true cos I know some might want to quote me wrong. I swear
Some might wonder how come all these happen in 2yrs yes it's God's grace and focus.

Funny enough, a lot of people didn't believe all these till today, some believe I'm into Yahoo thing and even sarz always stop me while driving but when they see evidence they free me cos I'm just 29yrs still very young for face. I swear with my life I have never try that Yahoo Yahoo thing or ritual in my life. God is my witness.

@mile
Nigeria is the best if you have a very good business idea and fund to finance it.

I will never advice who's going for greener pasture abroad not to do it cos not everybody got business idea and everybody can't be a boss.
Some will live all their life on pay cheque while some is destined to be d boss. That's life.

I just joined nairaland cos if catch my attention especially this thread. One love

But to be sincere Nigeria is not good for

That is it

schooling in Ireland is not the same as being part of the system thats all I can say.

Exactly, for instance, read oluayebenz encounter in Canada and where he is today, then read this

"NERAL Irish (student)visa & Work Permit-New THREAD*** by partnerus: 3:32pm On Nov 15
Congratulations to all those that have been granted their visa. However, I deem it fit to give word of advise.
Nigeria's image here in Ireland is seriously battered. All thanks to few cladenstine Nigerians who have made it a choice to do illegal acts here capable of denting our image. That been said, I also want to thank particularly Nigerians with student visas here. They have portrayed themselves in positive light and this to me, is a positive step in the right direction towards redressing the severely dented image of Nigeria as a country.

In same vein, I wish to humbly appeal to my Nigerian compatriots planning to come down here for schooling or whatever purpose best known to them. There are lots of opportunities here. You can make it big if you work hard and be consistent in whatever legitimate endeavour you choose to embark on. The reason is Euro is high if converted to our local naira and I am using myself as case study. With your little hustle, it's worth reasonable amount when you send back home and you won't believe what you are able to save within a reasonable time at home even while schooling here.
Crime doesn't pay. Please shun acts capable of destroying our smeared image the more. Stay positive and strong even when faced with racist acts. I say this cause you definitely will experience it here. That one is certain but the truth is, don't let it deter you from forging ahead. Say to yourself, 'I can make it no matter what' . If possible, say this to yourself everyday. It will get you encouraged.
Please desist from credit card scam, drug smuggling and other acts which Nigerians are infamously known for here. It pains me at work my colleagues remember me that on daily basis about the ill things which Nigerians are wrongly known for here.
Pride yourself in your humble begining.
For those genuine serious minded students coming to ireland, I can volunteer to answer questions in respect to work here but seriously, there are lots of jobs here for students. Please always remember where you come from. If possible take pictures of loved ones with you back home and then position it by your bedside when you get here. That will serve as a constant reminder that your people back home are waiting for you.
Don't join gangs here of do what we Nigerians call 'follow follow'. There is life here and if you aren't focussed, you will loose out. Please Ireland isn't our home, Nigeria is. Always have it at the back of your mind that you will retire back home someday.
I will also advise that those that have been granted visa can come in groups by boarding same flight and booking for accommodation in any of the hostels. That way, you get to exchange ideas and reduce cost to the bearest minimum and above all, stay safe and strong as first timer. I am saying from experience. I came here all alone and it wasn't funny in the first two weeks for me. God bless the Nigerian guy I met in the hostel who holds a stamp 4 visa. He was more than a brother to me. But I am not saying you should trust everyone you meet easily but the truth is, there are still some exceptionally good Nigerians out there even on foreign soil.
Despite my busy schedule with school assignments and work, I have decided to respond to as much questions as I can as a give back to fellow nigerians planning to come here for study purpose. Guys over here helped me with information earlier this year while I was still in Lagos too and so I feel it's time to reciprocate same gesture. But be reminded that my responses are entirely my own opinion.

Once again, stay positive and strong.

I salute all!!!"

Can you see now? grin.. For instance I have friends that moved from Canada and Sweden to Ireland, I have friends that moved from Ireland to Canada and New Zealand. Can we now see that fingers are not equal? What work for Mr A might not work for Mr B, coupled with the fact that it's about choice, determination and grace of God. That's why I said what really matters is that you do what you think is right for yourself, what you believe in. Just pick a goal, a goal you truly want to achieve. As soon as you trust yourself, you will know how to live.

In the life of a human being, there is a period of ignorance including myself and that's the reality.
